It occurred to me that, I think, every Samsung device AT&T carries that's s5 & later is running Marshmallow other than the Note 4/Note 4 Edge.

You can sideload 6.0.1 MM if you wanted many have already... personally I'm more worried about root.
6.0.1 MM Sideload XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3407308
This is like the only Samsung phone without root now.... I know the AT&T Galaxy S7 now has root before the Note 4... and it's possible that the S7 root works with Note 5 and G6... tho I haven't checked their proper forums because it will not help Note 4...

Um, no. That's not the final build. I'm on that right now. I'm talking"official." They've even updated some of the "budget" Samsung phones to Marshmallow. That's insane. There's literally NO reason to ever buy a flagship from AT&T, outside of Samsung promotions offering free stuff (like my TV for upgrading the wife's phone).

Lol well its pretty official beta build... lts signed by AT&T. If it wasn't it wouldn't install on any N910A with being a locked bootloader and the verification signing. If you tired to opening the file it break the signing code. There hasn't been any way to resign the software... One of the main reasons why the N910A is the only Note 4 model without root today.
I think if you want the official forum your looking on the wrong page.. you should be on the AT&T forum. Most people come to XDA for research, root, and custom roms. And isn't afraid to flash a .zip file in stock recovery.
If you want all fairness the Custom roms on XDA pre-rooted and debloated all run better and smoother than the offical stock rom.

Android pay doesn't work with it. Video Calling is hit and miss. If it's official, they it's pretty unofficial as of this moment. At&t didn't release it, it was ripped from their servers. That's what I'm calling "official." And I know where I'm at: I'm at a place where phone nerds *****, rant, and try to console each other through the disappointments of these [email protected]$$ Mother Boxes. If I were on the official AT&T forum, I would expect no answer, or an answer from someone saying "You can install the beta and hey, that's good enough, right?" No. No it's not. Not until EVERYTHING works.

Amen! AT&T are douchebags for not giving a damn about their customers. Never again will buy an AT&T branded phone. They lock the bootloaders and are so as Hell when it comes to updates. That's why my Note 4 is just sitting in the drawer. I miss using it but I'll just use it a backup phone to my LGv10 and even then that hasn't been updated to 6.01 either and it has bugs right now on 6.0

That's what I did after my Galaxy S4. I decided to get away from carrier phones, namely AT&T with their locked down phones. I went with the Nexus 6P, which of course had MM from launch back in October last year. Pure Android, first to get updates, and I can do as I wish with it.
Since my wife has the AT&T Note 4, I keep stopping back here to see what information I can find on a MM update for it. There is absolutely no reason that it shouldn't already be out! Samsung and AT&T are both to blame for the total amount of time it takes to get updates out. Just AT&T for the freakin locked bootloader though.

It's the government that required the tightest of securities possible. But you're right about the MM update being the fault of Samsung and ATT.
How I wish there's an option to remove bloat on first use, kind of like how Aroma Installer works. That should alleviate some of the issues we have.

I just got the new update an hour ago and wanted to share my thoughts because I know there's still a lot of people wondering what it fixes. So far I've noticed:
- Phone in general feels much much quicker.
- gallery no longer lags.
- switching from wifi to 4g o longer lags the phone
- camera is improved. Still slight shutter delay but I'm thinking it must jus be how it works since it's taking such high quality pics.
-updating apps in the play store no longer makes the phone lag.
-one of my favorite things is the home button response speed is really fast now(yes svoice home button is disabled) I noticed the home button used to lag sometimes. Much faster now.
- I noticed some buttons in the camera and gallery are different and have some extras. Haven't had much of a look yet.
-it appears all my apps are on the SD card now.
I can't comment on battery life or anything else yet but I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Hello, I'm XDA. We clearly haven't met.
Can't ever root again......not if Samsung had the NSA itself encrypting the bootloader.
Also, the locked bootloader is only a requirment to run Samsung's Knox protection sofware, which is only really relevant for business use.

Here's the PR from Sprint - Highlight - $149.99 on contract. Preorders start tomorrow.
http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-rel...-sprint-unlimited-data-guarantee-for-life.htm
Now how to get the cash for this.... this is honestly a priority over the G2.
Every AOSP project will need this and I'd like to help make sure we get love this time.
i'm looking closely at this as well. would love to get a nexus, waiting to see if its an easy thing to get it moved over to ting (runs on sprints network and they have all the other lte phones you can byod)
its either that or i'll grab a sprint galaxy nexus and a zero lemon battery and just rock that one for a while
This will be my next phone, I am eligible for an upgrade now, but I need the cash first. Was waiting for the announcement to see if Sprint support was available first. Would have already gotten the MotoX, but I need about 24GB of storage for my everyday usage, so I was thinking HTC One.
Now, I just want it to get a B1G1 or B1G2, or a nice Amazon Wireless discount and I would be EXTRA happy.
**** Added via Edit***
Also just saw that the new wireless charging pad uses magnets for orientation on it, so it should work like the Palm Touchstone, which has usually been considered the best of the wireless chargers. http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/31/google-wireless-charging-pad/
Well... If sprint doesn't announce the 32 gb version during their pre-sale tomorrow.... I'm leaving for Tmo
I purchased the 32 gig model today (can still cancel) but I refuse to pay carrier subsidized prices when I'm bringing my own unsubsidized device. Unless they get me a discount on the 32 gig or get with the times, I'm out.

This is how is ShOuLd be...
HTC should force carriers to keep up with updates. Just because our DEVs can crack their S-OFF blocking doesn't mean they should delay updates (granted we don't know this for sure, but, I believe this is why) .
For HTC to enforce that all HTC Ones get the updates we deserve is how they should enforce their phones. Will we see this?
Doubtful, but never count anything out.

Way the article read this is for gsm HTC one. Verizon one is its own entity. After all I don't see them skipping 4.3 for 4.4. When they release 4.3 they sure ain't going to turn right around and push another major update. Plus this guy from HTC promised us 4.3 at the end of October then last minute changed his story. Like he didn't know that it would be delayed.

This brings up an interesting point. Every time I go to purchase a new device, The reps try to talk me out of buying an HTC. It usually takes me telling them 2 or 3 times that I have made up my mind. The reps act as though owning an HTC is taboo, lol.
I take Verizon to always be an exception to such a proclamation. I'm sure HTC will have something ready for Verizon within 90 days, but Verizon will inevitably delay it for their own purposes.

HTC will probably still release 4.4 on our One. When Verizon gets around to it is a whole different story. Our devs will hook us up when it releases on gsm Ones.
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Couldn't HTC theoretically "leak" a Verizon version of 4.4 somewhere online and kind of circumvent Verizons process, and allow the s-off people to install it?
I mean I'm not sure they'd ever do this but isn't it possible?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
There was a release of an Android version (can't remember if it was Froyo or what) for the Droid Eris that had been leaked prior to the official release. I always assumed HTC did this on purpose. At the time however, flashing that build - for some technical reason - made it impossible to flash the newer build that was officially released. One of you around during the days of the Eris probably know the events better than I do.

I mean I'm not sure they'd ever do this but isn't it possible?

I'm sure there is a chance of that but, at this point, with HTC's current financial crisis I think the last thing they would want to do is anger Big Red if it somehow got traced back to HTC. Verizon could shun HTC altogether and we'd all be shafted out of the next versions of this device. I'd love for it to happen but it won't. As always we'll have to rely on our awesome Devs to give us something Verizon seems hell bent on releasing entirely too late and in some cases not at all. Look at newt's 4.3 Sense 5.5. It's been out for what? A month? He got it up and running for us. Dude is a beast.
4.4 was released to AOSP yesterday so it's only a matter of time before CM churns one out.
Of course they could always go with "What happened? On no! Uhhh... We got hacked? Yeah... Hacked..."

We had an ICS leak for the Incredible2 but the update never saw the light of day thanks to big red. We had to use the Chinese source.

Whoa whoa whoa... Lemme get this straight. Verizon didn't do something their customers wanted? When did THAT start happening? Freakin Verizon...

So its been 3 days and I haven't complained about AT&T. Its too long.
I figure if we start this now, we might get this N update on time.

Lol N is most LIKELY NOT coming. I'd be seriously surprised to see N on my Note 5 without a custom ROM.
As much as I like to see AT&T to have Nougat on Note 5, I doubt that it will happen especially they just pushed out MM to Note 5. If we are lucky, it would be around the time Google introduces the O. I will be more happy if I can get a regular security update on Note 5 instead of hoping for the Nougat.

Do you think since Samsung is recalling the note 7 they will release the new note 7 with nougat? Instead of having to wait on carriers? If they do then what happens to root?

Carriers use their own customized firmware, so it's up to them to give the update.

No.
If you're expecting Android N on the Verizon Note 7 before year end, then you're doing it wrong. Besides, Android N offers next to nothing for a non vanilla device.

Before launch, Samsung said Nougat would be coming for the Note 7 in 2-3 months. That will likely be Samsung's "stock" version. After that, carrier customization will occur. As Rippley05 said, I wouldn't expect it before the end of the year. Samsung and Verizon have surprised us a few times in recent years with quick updates, but it's not something you can count on.

In the U.S. it's up to carriers to deliver the update, but it's up to the OEM to provide the carrier with their custom update. None of the carriers actually rework Samsung's software themselves. Verizon will have to wait for Samsung to give them their version, then Verizon will start its lengthy testing process before it releases the update.

Yep, they gotta get their bloatware in there before sending it out.

Not to mention strip out features so they can charge us for their own inferior version of it. ..or just adjust things for the hell of it like the whole settings menu. I loathe Verizon.
