Was it run while device was hot?
Is battery saver on?
Any heavy apps running in RAM (e.g. 3D games)?
Running non-stock SW?
Is your device the 652-powered 10 Lifestyle?
A large number of factors can cause device to slow down to benchmark apps. Try a cache wipe, if that doesn't fix it and all of your answers to the above questions were no, it is likely either a rogue app OR your HTC 10 is defective?
I use the HTC 10 with the snapdragon 820
I try again
the HTC 10 throttles big time, before a test make sure the phone was not in use at all for a good while. honestly if you want the best result put it in the icebox for a few minutes to get it really cool, itll e a huge difference in scores

either your device could have been in a very warm state or something hogging memory in backend....
give a reboot to your device wait for few minutes and then try again...
mine taken straight after a reboot....
my device was at 38*C....
Yes... is better after reboot but... the snapdragon 820 is very instable finaly...

well there is always room for improvement else the development of more powerful chips would be stuck at one model forever

it's not unstable, it's designed to throttle bk when under heavy load and running a benchmark is going to cause just that sort of load, it's a phone not a supper computer and as such it's ment to do short boosts to complete every day tasks that a typical user of a phone would do, if you want raw power (shorter phone life) then you will have to start disabling all the protection that's built in to keep the phone cool, I won't recommend it in the slightest, also remove everything you can like system apps, user ones too, logging functions and so on then you'll get the true proformance of the hardware.
understanding this is essential if your wanting to compare benchmarks or if your wanting out the box comparison then your going to need to know what's running and whats not going to be running after time while your phone settles down.
havd fun

I installed the 4.2.2 update, I then ran Quadrant to see how things were. To my horror, the score has dropped massively. Prior to the update, I was getting close to 7000. I am now struggling to hit 5500?!

Nope, already checked that! Do you think it could be throttling it because of temp?
I'll tell you what though, I witnessed the FPS drop down into the 30s, during the GPU tests; very wierd...

Benchmarks?
Why do you guys keep asking for benchmarks ? they have nothing to do with how good your device is , even if they are real ,
as long as your device is smooth , stable and can run every program there at the google play store then your device is doing as good as all other good devices out there
Well I got 6800 in Quadrant after the update. Similar to before.
Benchmarks are sh**! They tell nothing. We would all agree on the fact that the phone has become faster and smoother with 4.2.2 update and gaming performance has improved

Hey ...
I just got my HTC 10 from Taiwan (HTC M10h)...
It already received a software update 1.30.709.x ...
The benchmark scores on both AnTuTu and Quadrant aren't that impressive (in relation to the competition) besides repeated tries ...
I know the benchmark Scores are nothing to do with routine usage but they do point out the hardware and software cohesion ...
Please share your benchmark scores here and let the discussion opened on this controversial topic of Benchmark Scoring and Real World Performance

Actually, it has been like that for many years but in recent years I've noticed rom makers just inserting build.props, unit.d, etc and claiming better battery life and "smoother". Stock has always had the most balance between the two, as tuned by HTC's developers versus a copy and paster who has no idea what the scripts do. Once saw failed keylogger-type insert attempt a while ago by someone nobody has heard of.
I've even seen some "kernel devs" inflate the UX numbers to make the total score seem higher while all other areas are actually much lower than standard.
What I'm trying to say is pick what you run on your phone wisely. Many of the roms nowadays are actually sub-par compared to stock. "Custom" doesn't mean better. What sets rom's apart from each other now are customizations availble.

agreed on a lot of aspect... for me as an end user custom roms are better than stocks and yes i agree a lot aren't actual development but then you need to identify....
for me its a statement of using the way i want to always vs what company dictates the way you should operate which is in most stock roms...

Yet to achieve a score as high as this with my 10 ...
HTC 10
1.53.617.x ...

@TopoX84 what's the individual scores and what was the battery temperature?
I've easily gotten ~6400 PCMark scores on my 10. Bonestock but that was of course from a really cold state.
And let's not forget my bad SD820 voltage bin (worst I've seen) which doesn't help the matter at all.
I'd like to see someone with EX kernel run PCMark Work a couple of times on their 10, cold and hot state, idk closer to room temp (25-30?) and something like 38-40C?.
@Haldi4803 ?
I was happy with a random test I did at work the other day, this phone is by far the fastest responding phone ive ever owned/ used.
Still on stock Kernel. Not done yet with all the baseline Benchmarking.

Hey,
I have a problem with my Nexus 5X. Overall the daily usage is pretty much the same as last week, but when I will start a bigger App or a Game the phone becomes slow. I closed all apps and restarted the phone. Then I started the Geekbench 3 and the score is so low! I don't know why. I attached a screenshot. Can anyone help me?
What firmware are you using?
Dont look at benchmark's score, it doesn't reflect real performance of phone, e.g my sgs3 gets 40k in antutu but nexus Just 45-50k
Lower performance in bigger apps is caused cus when CPU reaches 55*C it turns off cores to reduce heat, you can change it with custom kernel.
I have the newest security Patch. And the Geekbench is just to demonstate how slow the device is. The Performance issue Starts when I open a game or a big app. The phone is cool and it heats up minutes after playing the game.
But is it slow in daily use? Or Just in big apps?
Look on ur average RAM use, maybe some apps make ur phone slower like fb messenger (it can take even 500mb up)

as already said, phone benchmarks mean next to nothing these days. closing apps also rarely helps speeding up a device. removing apps from the recent-screen doesn't close/stop an app btw, they redid that quite a while ago afaik.
and as a last note: restarting the phone is a very resource intensive and long process and can easily take until long after you are already able to use the phone again (mediascanner, background/system services and apps starting...)
I don't have the Facebook Messenger. Ram usage is around 1.3 GB. And it's everytime. Not only when it's restarted. I don't have Cleaner Apps or security Apps. The Speed changed ca. 2 days ago. Last Tuesday everything was fine. Benchmarks were fine, Apps were fast and everything was smooth. But then I don't know.
So that's very weird. What did you install whole last two days?
Only the game Smash Hit. I have wiped data and Cache. It didn't helped so I Uninstalled the App. Still the same.
Hm, So I'd recommend reinstalling ur rom, what would you say about it?
I can do that, but its really annoying when I must Reset my phone until a week.
So it has just a week?

Wow So I'm surprised bro. Don't you have any another issues typical for Nexus like yellow screen, slow AC charging to make a complain?

Yes. The yellow Screen. But its fixed with the Developer Option "cooler colors". Buildet was this phone here in October 2015.
So, you can try to make a complain or Just reinstall rom /change kernel. No other way
I don't want to loose my warranty .
Edit:
I have wiped my complete Cache again and the score is a little bit better. Also the game. It's faster but not as fast as before.
If I'm not wrong you can take back ur warranty by flashing stock and locking back bootloader
I don't want to change anything. Are there no other possibilitys?
Solution
I had the same "problem".
Try to lock your phone and leave it to rest for few minutes. Then unlock the phone and run geekbenchmark 3.
You should get normal results now (~1230 for single & ~3500 for multi-core).
I hope this helps.
I'm facing exact same problem, bought my nexus 5x almost 1 month ago I did the geekbench but the scores were very low specially single-core, so I head up to couple of forums they suggest to reinstall the geekbench app or install the 64-bit version of it. I didn't get the 64-bit version of the app nor there is any stock setting on the phone to run apps completely on 64 bit. ( Note: Im no pure stock, never rooted, locked bootloader )
hello,my htc 10 performance is very poor so i decided to stress test my phone using the antutu app.
as you can see the cpu load is varying between 80-90% but the speed deosnt pass 1200-1600 mhz range. the maximum frequency is 2200.。
i have lag in almost every graphice intense game
i have poor performance and i dont know what to do, should i return the phone and request another one or is there something i can do?:crying:
Im getting pretty much the same problem, download an app off the playstore called fps test and can you tell me if the framerate seems to stick at 50fps then jump to 60fps then back to 50, or just stays at 50.

This is normal for games, smartphones are not an highend PC.
Also, read post 6 in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/laggy-homescreen-gaming-t3434178
It probably has something to do with software (HTC firmware).
What game did you test ? Alsphalt 8 is pretty bad optimised

Also as you can see from the stress test, the device
Doesnt really pass 1200-1300 mhz even at almost full load

you can try factory reset

Just the basic google search, also cache is cleared and i factory reseted the phone a week ago but it didnt really do anything
Just did a stress test in antutu like you did.
My wifi was turned off, no apps in background, everything stock, new phone.
I got almost the same results like you, a bit better though, but my cpu speed frequency doesn`t go over 1600 mhz. It looks like this is normal. 820 cpu can run at 2200, but it is always a bit underclocked on smartphones.
It must be that software (HTC firmware) is doing some harm to gaming
Try downloading an app called fps test, its icon is an orange circle. Can you see what the framerate is on it/ whether its stable. I've never ever had this problem on any other phone.
Read something yesterday about HTC shutting down one of the cores once a certain temperature is reached, dunno if that is what's causing your issue, there was also a work around in the rom / kernel section which upped the temperature before the setting kicked in...

Have you turned on High Performance Mode in the developer options?
HTC 10
This isn't as simple as saying its the phone itself. Android is an open source OS with a number of different devices so it's harder to optimize games for every phone, then with the higher screen resolution on newer phones this can also slow down frame rate. Another thing that has caused issues is the Nougat update which they are suppose to fix soon, this could be why an older phone runs games smoother due to lower screen resolution and and older version of Android which has had time to be perfected and receive necessary updates. The HTC 10 is actually a gaming beast compared to other Android devices. With the HTC 10 you can go into developer options (by going to ABOUT phone and clicking on "build number 7 times, developer options will then be added into your settings. Inside developer options you can then click "high performance mode" which will over clock your CPU to boost performance (only use when your phone is plugged in because it will drain battery fast). By scrolling to the bottom of the screen click advanced and you can then turn off animations (this will make your phone a little faster). If you want higher frame rate click (force gpu rendering) this will help boost frame rate by offloading graphics onto the gpu freeing up power of the CPU (this may or may not degrade graphics slightly). If you want to improve 3D graphics you can click "4xmsaa".
Hello, i bought this device couple of months back from amazon, ever since it first arrived it has been very laggy, now some of u may say its because of 2gb ram but i have used other redmi devices in the past which comprised of 2gb ram (redmi2 prime, redmi 5 and redmi 6) but this device is way way more laggy then them, and i dont even do any heavy use, im talking about switching between youtube and chrome, as soon as i do that the app restarts, all games are laggy, all apps are laggy, i switched to a custom rom (AOSP Extended) even that lagged so i reverted to miui 11 and hoped it might help but nope. even the camera lags, i just cant tell wether its some factory issue or what, does anybody else have this issue with the said device or is there any way to detect the issue? please dont comment with "its 2gb bruh what do you expect" i currently do have a redmi 5 and i kid you not its performing worse then that, the camera quality and all is fine even the gpu is good but theres just this weird lag, even opening my keyboard makes it lag. not minor lags, MAJOR MAJOR LAGS, Please help me with this issue, how to detect the issue? can i flash some kernel? can i claim warranty or something?
I have issues with WiFi/Bluetooth - as soon as i turn the Bluetooth on, WiFi speed drops dramatically and is unstable, had some mystery battery drain in the first month and now is gone, but performance is good enough
