You should be able to.
i think it has u choose, u can use sim 1 to make/receive calls/text and sim2 for data, i am not sure if u can have calls on both
You have a primary there is an option to make calls with the secondary if you want.
i have a dual sim setup. i have tried to make a call from sim one. connect to a land line, then from another cell phone call sim two..call on sim 2 goes to voicemail
sim one is my primary number so i set it up to call out from there and make me choose before a call goes out.
when a call comes it, it will tell you sim 1 or 2. you can also label the sim cards now in the latest update.
you can set sim 1 to be data and text, sim 2 can then only do data. one sim card with data at a time.
this works perfect for me since personal phone gets text/calls/data and work line gets only texts and calls.
cool things, textra app can differentiate between sim1 and 2. lets you choose which one to send out from.
i would like it to have different ring tones for each line, but right now i super fine with only carrying ONE awesome phone instead of having to buy another smart phone for work. i would have been carrying around my personal android and then company issued stupid iphone. eeewww, the thought of being a wall hugger with the iphone.
ask me any more questions about dual sim.

i too have a personal and a work phone. dual sim phones are awesome. i currently have a dual s7. i'm thinking about switching to the OP3 because it has 3g on both sim cards and doesn't limit me to 2g on one of the sim cards. my current set up is:
sim 1: 2g - calls and texts (ATT)
sim 2: 2g/3g/4g - calls, text, data (TMO)
it has a sim manager built in so you can switch this at any moment. i can receive calls and text from both sims throughout the day. Is that the case on the OnePlus3?
I am having a problem. I have 2 sims. One for data and one for calls / sms.
I noticed that if the phone just sits there(asleep), calls don't come through. I will get a voicemail notification.
Even tried calling the phone myself. Goes straight to voicemail. If the phone is awake, calls go through no problem.
I have reversed the sims and same problem.
Any ideas. Does doze maybe have anything to do with this?

I do the following,
Sim 1 T-Mobile LTE, text, data, voice
Sim 2 T-Mobile text and voice, turned off data
My settings are sim 1 data, sim 2 text
Calls come in on both lines when ever and how ever. I found that if I didn't set sim 2 to text. Calls and texts didn't work for some reason.
I do have backup data on sim 2 of 2gb.

Any updates on this behavior with latest fw updates? I'm getting a OP3 and will be using dual sim setup. Do I need to get a 3rd party dialer to select which sim to call from, associate certain contacts with certain outgoing calls/sim? I've read about several 3rd party apps for this, but hoping OP3 already has this functionality.

i bought this phone because of dual sim about 3 months before i needed it. Had a second SIM for the last 2.5 months
Well let me tell you, i got the job i was going for, exactly 10 days ago.
It is awesome, i figured out my setting finally. I have it set now for calls to go out to default to SIM1, texts to default of SIM1.
Changed to PROPER network on SIM1, tmobile has a few to choose like fast.tmobile, (e) something or another. i set it to fast.tmobile.
Your dailer will know. you can choose 1 or 2 SIM. Stock, downloaded apps, everything will know. I really like using true caller app now because of this. I now have a potential DOUBLE amount of spam calls!
As with text apps, i like to use textra for one main reason. Delayed text sending. using stock app, i sent MANY texts using the WRONG SIM by accident. I set my delay to 5 seconds.
I set my sim card 1 to be blue, sim card 2 to be red. so the dailer comes up red or blue depending on the sim getting called.
I do wish i can get different ring tones on 2 sim lines. Only custom roms can do that BUT i like to have WORKING bluetooth and Android Auto. So far i have tried Ressurection Remix, both official and the other one floating around. No good when it comes to Android Auto AND working bluetooth. Freedom OS doesnt have different ring tones for dual sims. If you find one that works please let me know!

dual sim standby - both 3g/4g ?
So I've read in a few reviews it's a dual sim standby (both sims are in standby for a phone call) and both of them are capable of 3g/4g at the same time? anyone know? reason I ask is in my country the 2g bands are closed so can't use any other dual sim phone (all of them force second sim to be on 2g)
I don't think both of them are capable of 4G for the simple reason 2 SIM from 2 different network providers = 2 IP address, and you need to know it's complex to make usable 2 IP address in the same time (MPTCP). Then like on the OnePlus 2, you can only use one SIM for data and the other for phone calls/SMS/MMS in the same time.
The only phone that I am aware that is able to do 4g on one sim and 3g on the other is the mi5. I am also keen to know if we can do the same on the one plus 3. I live in Singapore and 2g will be deactivated soon. Sent from my X9009 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm not expecting the phone to use data on both. i'm more concerend about just being on standby for phone/msg on 3g (or 4 if possible). Like using your phone blocking data on the second sim. I don't see why it's so technologically hard. 2g is soon to be gone evrywhere
I have tested Mi5Pro and it have first sim 2G/3G/4G and the second sim 2G/3G simultaneously (dual sim stand-by). I have read in a review than OP3 also. I will receive mine next monday, i will test ...
thanks a lot. anyone else can confirm ?
I can confirm .. i have received my op3 yesteday and it is 2G/3G/4G on sim1 and 2G/3G on sim2 simultaneously. Sim2 is only for calls and messages. Like OP2 and other phones, it is possible to swap sims and in this case, sim2 is 2G/3G/4G with data and sim1 only 2G/3G for calls and messages. I confirm also that op3 is dual sim stand-by and not dual sim active.

Yes but when call is made on SIM2, data on SIM1 is interrupted (dual stand-by)

That seems like a very frustrating limitation. I would be okay with data services flipping over to SIM2 while on the phone there. I also seem to have a problem of the OP3 kicking down from LTE to HSPA when I make a phone call. Any ideas?

Click to collapse Yes, it is designed like this, like all dual sim except Asus ZenFone 2, Galaxy S4 Duo and few other models. LTE networks has not "phone circuits" and call are made in 3G (phone connect in HSPA during call). This is for all LTE phones. LTE calls are possible with VoLTE protocol witch is IP voice communications and not voice circuit. For using VoLTE, the phone need compatible with this protocol AND operators needs to activate this functionality.

Click to collapse It is dual sim standby and both the sims are in standby for a phone call. Both of them are capable of 4G/3G/2G but NOT at the same time. 4G can be used only in one sim slot at a time. It can be set by going to settings > SIM cards> Preferred SIM for Cellular data. Whichever SIM you choose here will have 4G option. It can be changed from settings>Cellular networks > your SIM card > Preferred network type. (4G or 3G or 2G). The other SIM can have either 3G or 2G but there is no option to choose it. The only way is to click on 'Network operators' option from Cellular networks menu and choose a 2G or 3G service. Hope it helps.
I get 4g on each sim but you have to pick one for data but both are 4g
So if I have 2 sims, one for calls with 6gb 4g and one for data with 15gb 4g, when I finish the 6gb on 1st sim I can switch the data to the other sim via software? Thanks
Your right you can

Click to collapse This is true, but you can also add to the list of "Dual Active" phones all Huawei premium phones: Mate 7, Mate 8, Honor 6, and probably Honor 7 and 8. They all have DUAL ACTIVE SIM CARDS, which means that you can have a call on SIM-1 and get a waiting call on SIM-2, then you can answer the call and swap between the two active calls!! I even tried calling SIM-1 from SIM-2 and it was actually ringing!! Also more importantly, when using data on SIM-1, you can make or receive a call on SIM-2 without interrupting data. That's pretty amazing, but with a major drawback (at least for me, it is): 3G/4G service is only accessible on SIM-1 slot!! The SIM card in slot-2 will always be 2G and would never ever access 3G/4G networks This is bad because I travel a lot, and I always need to be able to switch data from SIM-1 to SIM-2 and vice versa. The only option I have is to physically swap SIM cards between slots, which actually ruins the whole concept of having DUAL SIM mobile My guess is that they are actually using two separate modems, each one is dedicated to one of the two SIM slots, and only one of them supports 3G/4G connectivity.
TheLoverMan said: Your right you can Click to expand... Click to collapse so, you are saying that both sims are 3G/4G capable, but can be used for data one at a time, and can be switched anytime via settings ?
I have a questiĆ³n, so if a dual sim phone have 3g/4g capabilities on both sims, is there a way to make like a failover setup such as if sim1 looses data the phone switches to sim2 data automatically and viceversa?
I have problem in my one plus 3 network issues both SIM are not working properly both SIM search for network frequently when I switched data no network can anyone give solution I tried all rebooting, factory reset, searching network manually.
Text message w/o pic on Verizon Sim2
Bought 5t a few days ago, just found issue on Sim2 Verizon. I have ATT on sim1, Verizon on sim2, set sim2 as default data, text, voice. I understand is 3G CDMA for Verizon. When someone sent text message with pic to Verizon#, I received text w/o pic. Then I remove ATT from sim1, has Verizon in sim2 only, I got pic with text! Put ATT back to sim1 and set data default, sim2 Verizon voice/text default, received text only, no pic. However ,text with pic received when sent to ATT#. Anyone has same issue?
Try using Verizon's message plus text app. It works even over WiFi and may solve the data stream issue. If you need to get sms from both lines and message plus doesn't get the att then try something like Textra. The issue is that MMS needs the carrier data connection.
It does work! Thanks
I have the same carriers in the same slots and Textra, but AT&T as data and it's in a 3T instead of 5T. Everything works awesome(haven't noticed the lack of band 13, guess I'm lucky that my area uses the other Verizon bands). Only bummer is when I MMS comes through on Verizon, it's kills my AT&T until it finishes downloading and then goes back. But not that big of deal since Verizon is my work number primarily for calls. Wish there was a fix for this. But I can't give up root, stock Android, dual SIM and unfortunately Verizon is chosen by my employer. First world problems. Wish 1+ would just stick band 13 in there!!!! It can't be that much more expensive.
Phone and internet together?
I had been a 10-year iPhone user. And after the OnePlus 5T I'll never go back. But the one thing that isn't working for me is, is there a way for you to be on the phone and use the internet to schedule appointments or look something up while chatting? Is this an Android complication? I do have AT&T with gsm service. Same sim cards did allow that on iPhone. I've even tried speaking on sim 1 and use data on sim 2. Fingers crossed there is a way.??

The OP5(T) is a DSDS phone. Dual Sim, Dual Standby. Here is a link that explains the difference: http://gadgetguideonline.com/androi...m-android-phones-dual-standby-vs-dual-active/
Robbm3 said: Hmm. Mine doesn't work that way. I get a not connected to internet message with full bars showing that it is available. Off the phone call the internet works again. ? Click to expand... Robbm3 said: I've even tried speaking on sim 1 and use data on sim 2. Click to expand... Click to collapse That's precisely why it doesn't work. The OP5T is a DSDS device, meaning that only one SIM can connect at a time. So in call, SIM 1 uses the connection continuously, and SIM 2 is disabled. Try with only one SIM inserted for calls and data and you'll see that you can press home and do whatever you want just like you can with the iPhone
I think we have a misunderstanding here... the thread starter seems to complain about the fact that the internet is offline during a call. Unless the call is via VoLTE or Wifi calling, this is correct. When 3G or good old GSM are used, data services are being suspended. This should be the same with every other phone, including the iPhone.
Dual Sim issue
Hi I have an issue with my dual sim S9. Sim one is on Three UK and sim two is Vodafone UK. " Dual sim always on " is enabled but when I'm connected on a call the other sim card will not accept incoming calls. The sim I'm connected to for the call will show via call waiting if another incoming call is waiting but only for that sim card. It effectively means that the other sim is offline until I end my call. Being my first dual sim phone I thought I'd be able to be notified about incoming calls on both sim cards at the same time (if I'm on sim1 and a call comes in on sim2 for example)? The other issue I have is that the Three sim is personal and the Vodafone sim is work. When dual sim is enabled it automatically forwards calls from sim1 to sims2 and vice versa when the phone is unreachable. This means personal contacts end up leaving messages on my work voicemail and work customers end up getting through to my personal sim. (I'm also assuming my network will be charging me to forward calls to the other network) If this is how it works then I'll have to go back to two phones as I can't mix personal and work calls like that. Thanks.
Me also i go this problem.. This is a very FAKE DUal SIM ! it does not receive all on both sim at the same time. Huawei p20 pro receive call at the same time

The only options are to block all calls to the data SIM or not to give out the phone number to people. Another option is to find an application that can limit the network on the data SIM to 4G only.
