Hi, I have LG G4 Beat and I would like to root it.
I have heard of KingRoot/KingoRoot, is that the same thing? Is it safe to use? I read they are shady, is that true? On KingoRoot site, LG G4 Beat is not on the supported devices list but they say this: " Please note that this list is incomplete. "NOT LISTED" does not necessarily mean "NOT SUPPORTED"."
Is it dangerous to try? Will it work? Is there a better and safer way to root my LG G4 Beat device that will work for sure?
Sorry to say.... ever though the moniker is similar, the g4 beat is a vastly different model to the G4
So no one will be able to tell you if it works unless they've tried it on a g4 beat before

That makes sense, that's why I said [LG G4 Beat] and I posted it here because there isn't a G4 Beat forum.
But can you tell me about Kingroot? Are they indeed shady? Is it safe to root using their application? Are they reliable? I am pretty new to that stuff and if this proccess can be automated then that would be really nice.
Go this thread on first page read th entire thread u will know the pros and cons hit like if it helps

Hello all,
just a quick question as I'm new to this phone and have a few starting questions(I'm coming from HTC one so this is all new), I have read and read threads about build numbers but I'm not finding mine. I have the d855 variant with a build #JDQ39B and it has 4.4.2 but it is horrible. it's missing alot of features:
edit options oe Q-Slide within the quick settings
Dual screen
multi copy and paste
and many other factory features.
Also the battery life is horrendous( recharge it 3 times per day).
What I'm looking to do is either change the kdz firmware file to another region( preferably canada if possible) or root, install twrp and install a ROM such as Cloudy G3 2.1( again if possible).
But because of this starting issue of this phantom build # I don't know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Also, apparently this device isn't compatible will stumproot. which sucks but I'll try towelroot as well.
update, towelroot will only give me a text file no apk. again, that sucks.

Brother your LG G3 is a fake
Sorry
I was hoping this wasn't the case. I can't believe I shelled out $380 for this.

Remember, if its too good to be true it probably is
LG G3 is still roughly mid $450s (if your lucky) to $500 something in most stores
Noone would sell one for $380 unless its a LG G3 Beat or if its a second hand phone
Its fake who'd you get it from?
Just never seen any fakes yet? theres the Kings something but that doesn't even hold the same shape. I've stripped this thing down to the motherboard and it all jives. Amazing work they did. I'm gonna try a oem battery and see if it helps longevity?

Just a local site, kijiji. like a craigslist.
I was considering getting an H815 for use on AT&T instead of the new Moto. It appears that you can easily unlock the bootloader. It currently costs less than $450 on Amazon for a 32G leather version. It has an SD card, replaceable battery, great camera, and a good SOC (that does not have issues like the 810). So, why are there so few roms for it? I won't buy a phone unless it is first well-supported on XDA.

H815 will not work with VZ. You have to buy the VZ variant so no unlocked bootloader but can be rooted.

I also do not understand what this means. Are you saying that only OPEN EUR versions can unlock the bootloader and flash roms, and that so few people own them that no one has bothered to create a custom rom for the phone?

As for ROMs, I have been noticing that for a few years on a lot of phones. If you want ROM's, you really need to stock with Nexus devices these days.
I have bought a G4 and luckily mine could be rooted. But yes, there are very few roms available and as a former Samsung user I must say I'm very disappointed with the help you get on the forums. Most queries aren't answered. If I were you I'd stick to HTC.
@phoneturf the h811 is the most prevalent version. I wouldnt get the 815.

Here it is a month later and the support for none of the G4 variants appears to have changed. There are a couple of stock roms for the T-mobile version, but doing a little reading I cannot even tell if there's a working TWRP or CWM for it. I decided to check back with the G4 since now I am instead considering a V10, although I suppose now I won't really consider that one either - I really wanted a replaceable battery and SD card.. If they sold one with an unlockable bootloader for all carriers, like Nexus, Moto, or OnePlus, I assume there would be much more support.
I bought a used G4 815 on Ebay, before I know that only the EU version could be opened (will see what's arriving in a day or two )
Is there any work being done on an Unofficial bootloader unlock?
I saw that the G3 does have allot of roms, did that phone was in the same situation as the G4 at it's beginning?

The G3 was originally in the same boat as the G4 as well in the beginning. That's why everyone is saying stfu and wait. A lot of folks just look at Nexus and other easy unlocks then expect everything to come into their laps within seconds.
And there is an unofficial bootloader unlock in the works. BUT it appears it only works if you haven't taken an OTA update before. All in good time my friend.

I am looking at the Blackberry Priv over the v10.
Take a look, it may do what you need it to and have some extra features added in as a bonus.
Only problem is I do not know what the dev community will be like for this phone.

Well it came in, it's H81510b-TWN-XX :crying:
In the hidden menu I don't see any "roolback" value, so does this says something?
Does using the "low effort root" / installing 11a or 12a will make the roolback value go to 1/2?

the downside of G4 is sound quality u should consider that too if u want to upgrade, even though i dont know about G3 sound quality. and with korean version, there's some part still in korean even if u choose english language and u cant root it, at least for a while hahaha ow and korean version dont have FM radio, but they have digital TV though, u might want to consider that if u like watching TV

G4 camera is the best bro thats why i want to update.....wait for g5?....hope best for you
Dear everybody,
Currently I am using a LG G5 (H850 EU) which is really great for root. Unfortunately due to a display issue and lack of good quality spare parts on the worldwide online market I am looking for a new phone. Important to me among others:
- Easy to root
- Ultra-wide cam
- MicroSD Card
That's why I am considering the LG G7 ThinQ. However, it seems quite a big hassle to get root on the LG G7 ThinQ when I read the forums here at XDA. Furthermore, J0SH1X announced to stop developing TWRP for LG G7 (here). This leads me to the question if the G7 is still worth buying if root is important? My fear is Android 9, which could be problematic without any new TWRP.
Would it better buying a V30 which looks also great instead of the G7? What are your thoughts?
Thank you for any advise.
Best wishes,
Alex

It depends on what model is it? Look for the European model (lmg710ea) because thats the only one that can be unlocked rn (eaw and others have locked bootloaders). And j0sh1x actually didnt quit. He got Android Pie working on the g7 and we got resistant twrp too.

In my opinion the G7 is working very well.
Rooting is relatively easy for the EU model (see the dedicated thread).
I am missing a bit the TWRP for the stock firmware (that is more than enough for me) and I fear we will not get it soon if ever.
I know i know the G710TM cant be bootloader unlocked, but i can take one of the other variants thats GSM unlocked and bring it to Tmob, so which one is best for compatibility? Specifically looking for 4G LTE and mobile Hotspot to be working correctly. Is this possible, or should i stick with H932 (V30) and root that instead?
thanks in advance
idk but LMG710TM definitely can't root

not looking to root TM, I know this already.
I decided to get ULM and get a remote unlock. I dont see as much development with the G7 as I did with the V30 which is sad.

You are right the deveploment for the lg g7 here on xda is pretty much dead.
You can also get a sprint variant really cheap on ebay
Thats what i did now is rooted on pie ulm but theres nothing else to do since the deveploment is dead.

Gah. you just sealed it. I'm glad that I didn't make the purchase as of yet. But my suspicions it looks like I was correct. I was debating either upgrading all the way to v40 but it looks like development hasn't gone very far either. though I would like the five camera setup and the portrait mode of the two front facing cameras I don't know if it is worth it as having root plus access custom roms is what I'm really looking for. It looks like development for the v30 is where I need to be. Plus I have all the tools necessary to root it. I've actually rooted it before but the phone was stolen for me
Can it really be that a two-year-old smartphone is really the best bet? I can buy 2 v30s for the price of one v40
