Make sure you are on stock recovery first to begin.
1. Download the file on your computer, extract it and locate the dload folder.
2. Plug in your phone and place the dload folder on your phone(internal storage preferably, I tried to do mine thru sd-card but it kept on failing everytime I tried to do the update). Make sure the UPDATE.APP is inside the dload folder.
3. Unplug your phone.
4. Go to update.
5. Tap on the Menu key and select locate update. Now your phone should find that UPDATE.APP.
6. Click install and you're good to go.
7. OR YOU CAN SKIP STEPS 4-6 BY TURNING OFF YOUR PHONE. HOLD DOWN UP + POWER TILL YOU GET TO THE RECOVERY AND THE UPDATE SHOULD BEGIN.
I did a factory reset after the phone booted just in case...
So far it's actually running really great. Much better, and faster than EMUI 3.1. let me know what you guys think.

Where is kiw-l21 middle eastern ver MM?? ???

Lol hell if I know

Hello guys. I'm a new member to XDA, albeit I've been lurking the Honor 5X forums for a few months now since I got the phone. So far, it's been a delightful experience and the work that the devs and other people have brought to this phone only served to make that experience even better.
Now, on to my dilemma. I might have jumped the gun too quickly on the Stock Rom Marshmallow Update. I initially had TWRP and made a nandroid backup of my Resurrection Remix rom. With TWRP, I used the TWRP backup that clsA provided to "restore" stock rom. Now, I've done this before back during B151 and had no problems. However, I noticed that there were 3 errors that popped up as it was undergoing restoration. Being hasty and dumb, I ignored it and now I'm stuck in bootloop. I can go into stock recovery but I can't seem to get into fastboot via vol - / power.
My question now is this: does my phone still have some sort of chance of returning to life or am I done for?
EDIT: Actually, I found a thread that had a similar issue to what I'm currently facing. I'll go give what @clsA mentioned a try and see if it works.
EDIT: I got things all sorted out now.

It's faster for the first day or so, then it will slow down over time, they really shouldn't have released it yet

I flash it and got the vendor files myself , and if you want to Broken OS , we are on Google plus. I don't want to get into the politics about XDA and broken OS but we have a mutual agreement.

I'm currently on CM 13 and have not been able to get gps working some users suggested that I go back to stock and that might fix my gps issues before I got back to another ROM. Since I can boot into twrp from adb could I use the file posted here and be back to stock with a complete refresh of the stock ROM. Thanks

So you didn't nandroid the stock rom prior to flashing another rom? That's usually the best idea.

I have been running this for a while now with little lag. Uptime is now several days.
I have changed a few settings. Some tuning with the kernel has now almost completely eliminated any lag. The biggest effect was changing the IP scheduler from cfg to row and increasing the read ahead buffer.

Edit* Is it easy to root and add custom recovery back to B331 MM update rom?

What happened?! Help please

I was installing a 4.2 build along with 4.2 gapps.. Something was funky so I wanted to re-do it. When I went to flash the zip from internal sd card, it wasn't there. Nothing is there. All my backups are gone as well. I tried to restore, and it says it can't find any files. I can get into recovery mode, but I have no clue what to do from here?!
Please help!
Thanks
odin back to stock once that is done reboot into recovery and factory reset then start over this happened because your recovery is outdated

Yes, there are 3 files when I go to choose zip from internal sdcard... They are:
0/
legacy/
obb/
if i remember right 4.2 moved all your files to 0 because of multi-user support thats where all your files are if you can move them back you should be able to get to your backup

Ahh okay. I found the zips to reflash 4.2 so I'm just going to do that. Didn't see any of my backups though? Are those somewhere else?
not sure exactly have not used 4.2 yet just read up on it do a search in the thread you got the rom in and you will find a answer
I'll try looking. Because I have to restore. None of my stuff from Titanium Backup is there anymore. All my stuff is gone, except pictures, those stayed.
alright good luck
Does anyone know if the backups are somewhere else? Or are they basically gone? Can't find anything

Hi,
I'm new here so please go easy on this "noob"
It was my first to unlock and root my phone, followed by flashing a stock ROM (Which is exactly why I rooted it)
I flashed this JB 4.2.2 stock build [ROM] [OTA][GSM] Android 4.2.2 JDQ39: Rooted | Galaxy Nexus > XDA for my Galaxy Nexus
Now...
I can't disable Next-word suggestions in the Language & Input -> Google Keyboard Settings
Also, I noticed a few seconds of lag when pressing the power button to unlock the phone, when viewing recent apps (via the soft-key), and when opening the Camera too
Also, when I choose the "Recent Apps" soft key.. it's as the app that's currently being used is minimised and the homescreen is shown without any icons
The Build came with Busybox pre-installed and now its gone after a day of using my phone... I literally can't find it.
I searched in the play store "BusyBox" and the result is 3 different apps with the same name!
Any Advice?

go back to recovery, format/wipe /system partition, reflash rom.
For your reference, a good app to install bb is stephen (stericsson)'s busybox installer (play store link). Obviously, it needs root.
Next time, read the stickies.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812959
How do I get “root”?
If you are booted into a custom recovery (recoveries will be covered later), root is enabled by default. If you want root while booted into Android, you will need to place two files on your system partition: an “su” binary which grants root access, and a superuser app that manages that access. The two that are available are ChainsDD’s Superuser and Chainfire’s SuperSU. Usually these files are packaged up in a zip file that is flashable using a custom recovery, but they can be flashed manually using ADB. Both of these methods will be described below.

As you probably noticed by now, you didn't need to flash a full "custom stock ROM" to root.

I'm totally new to this rooting &/ flashing thing, so please go easy
So, what you're saying is that I should boot into fastboot mode, wipe system partition (this will format the whole SD card right?), install the same ROM again?
I guess I'll need to install Titanium Backup to backup my apps and settings, I'll have to search for an article for the best way to do it as well..
Can I do it like this:
Open "Rom Manager", Select "Install ROM from SD Card", install it.. ???
PS: Do you have a recommendation for a better ROM, perhaps my choice of ROM wasn't correct...

You can wipe the system partition in a custom recovery (dont know if you can with stock). And yes you could flash via ROM manager but I wouldnt recommend it. I am on XenonHD 11.1 and loving it. But roms are a personal choice so there is no 'best' ROM. Just try out.

Mr., please, read the LINK i gave you! THIS ONE ->>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812959
If you read it, you'll stop thinking you need to be doing anything at this point in FASTBOOT interface! Like mrgnex says, you need to be on a custom recovery to format /system. (Have you read the link yet? By now you should know that the /system partition and the /sdcard/ (aka userdata) are 2 different things!)

Stop! THERE'S NO NEED FOR FASTBOOT HERE!
Thanks Guys for replying.
Yes, I read the info in the link, it was very helpful.
I'm still confused though.. "Fast boot" and "Recovery" are they the same thing?
I tried a "fix" mentioned by someone about using a live wallpaper such as "Water", I tried it and it's been 1/2 hour and it's really smooth compared to before...
Yes, I do have a custom recovery, actually I don't know why, but It seems I've got two according to ROM Manager.
It says I've got Clockwork Mod Recovery & TWRP.
I also tried going into recovery (Volume up + Down + Power) and it worked this time, when I select recovery, it goes into CWRM
I also did a bit of research about CyanogenMod 10.1.2 and from what I could gather it's liked by people a lot.
I'm guessing that definitely some time ahead it'll get all "laggy" again, Is there any reason according to you why I shouldn't install it compared to the stock 4.2.2 I have?

So to get things clear:
No fastboot and recovery arent the same thing.
Vol up+down+power brings you into fast boot and not recovery.
Apparently you dont have 2 custom recoverys since you booted into cwm.
Cm10 is great. But there are many great roms out there. You can start off with cm and then (if you please) look further.
I dont see any reason to not install cm10.1.2 since a whole team built and optimized it. So basically it is a better stock.
When you think your phone is slow you should look into the custom kernels. Thats a different story which I will not begin before you want to

I've decided that I will test out the Rom that I have currently (4.2.2) for a few weeks, and then flash CM.
I wanted to know one more thing, Is it bad to flash ROMs to your phone every now and then?
Because I've seen people flashing different ROMs on their phone, I don't wanna damage my phone as I want it to last as long as I can make it.
(by "Bad" I mean... does it reduce the phone's life or it's hardware's life span)

No it can't. I was a flashaholic (until I discovered XenonHD) and my phone didn't got worse. Only overclocking the CPU and gpu can affect the life of the CPU or gpu (or both XD). Just do a fresh install everytime and read the post of the ROM of your choice to see what to do to get it working optimally. If you have any problems just ask.

I'll flash CM in a week or two, as I'm on a tight schedule currently, and I also wanna note down the average battery time I get out of 4.2.2
So... since 4.3 is now out, I was thinking it'd be better for me to flash it other than anything else.
I'll most probably download the stock rom from:

So far I came across this thread having the steps to flash 4.3

But I wanna flash it and lose my data, so that it's as fresh as it can be...
Will that work if I use "wugfresh root toolkit"?

What was I thinking...
I apologize guys... I guess I wasn't thinking straight as its past midnight here...
So just to clarify stuff so that I don't end up doing something wrong:
-> Head into Recovery Mode (with usb debugging enabled... connect usb cable to phone and pc)
-> Wipe System
-> Wipe Cache
-> Install from SD card (select .zip file)
right?
Also, I performed a backup of the applications I have via Titanium Backup, They'll work on 4.3 when I restore them right? or do you recommend downloading them from the play store again?
Sorry for being such a noob, and Thanks for your responses!
backup everything from your /sdcard to your computer, titanium backups and a nandroid
the google stock package is NOT flashable in CWM/TWRP
if you follow the GOOGLE instructions it WILL wipe your device (remember that backup you made of everything?)
alternatively you can make sure and have adb/fastboot working on your computer properly, extract all the files out of the zip (including the tar.gz located inside), and in recovery, do a factory reset, then boot to fastboot, fastboot flash system and boot ....
as for Titanium Backup, there is a work around to get it working on 4.3, but root is lacking full power.

alternatively you can make sure and have adb/fastboot working on your computer properly, extract all the files out of the zip (including the tar.gz located inside), and in recovery, do a factory reset, then boot to fastboot, fastboot flash system and boot ....
as for Titanium Backup, there is a work around to get it working on 4.3, but root is lacking full power.

I'm now on Android 4.3
I'm full of excitement atm :victory:
I took a backup of my apps using titanium backup, I installed it but can't use it, it says I need root (which I already had before).
I read online somewhere that I need to root again, but I don't wanna lose all my data/ apps I installed again...
Any ideas?
If I use Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit... will I lose my data?
Thanks for the continued support!

panic solves nothing.
https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/lt02wifi/
when in doubt choose the most recent. zip or tar for odin.
for a rom i suggest svelte to get things straight.
then go from there.

Thank you for a quick answer, so i should change out CWM for Philz Touch ?
What is "Svelte" ? have no clue what that means.
What to have 110% solid answer before i go wreck some thing more.
Ah, of course.

I hear you, okay,
svelte rom thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2722582
great rom, minimal issues. philz advanced recovery is cwm with a good touch interface and more and very helpful options.
So yes, switch. All else is almost always solveable as long as your recovery is solid.

To be 100% sure when people say recovery they mean the programs like CWM or TeamWin and so on right ?
Is it bad for the device to change often the recovery software ? cause i have done that couple of times, started with TeamWin and later on ended up with CWM.
But the thing is that the problem is the installation process, it does not matter what ROM i use i get still the same error.
And for the Philz Touch could you copy the name of the link that i should download, they all look the same and way more links that i am used to.

The reason you can't install any rom is because you do not have the latest version of CWM installed. You should always install the newest version when you install any recovery.
The newer roms are using an updater-script that will not work on CWM 6.0.4.7. Install an updated recovery and then install the rom that you want.

To answer your question no yes maybe. Travel around through XDA and read/learn and you will understand.
as for philz i would try this one https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/lt02wifi/philz_touch_6.44.9-lt02wifi.zip
in general find a recovery that works for you and stick with it until an update is actually called for.

If I were you, I would unroot and return to stock using ODIN first before I try anything else. If you need instructions, Google "unroot and return to stock using ODIN".

good to hear you got it sorted. CM just isn't happening yet. just watch the forum like a hawk like everyone else is...:cyclops:
If your worried about destroying your tab you prolly shouldn't have come to mod it.I know sounds like a douche bag thing to say but even putting on the flash or roms that go with the tab can destroy your tab if done improperly or even if they glitched while flash which does happen or even worse power outage when flashing.

I am scared of destroying the tablet but how else would i learn ? cause reading does not always help But i got it back up again. And i knew when to ask for help.
But the RocketTab looks to work well at least for know, but would love CM mod couse i have it on my S4 and when and with the RocketTab i only get android version 4.1.2

[Q] HELP! Can't get out of Custom Recovery

Not sure what happened, but this is what's going' on. I'm working with SM-T210R / updated to the 4.4.2 - Did not like the issues with Custom Recoveries, so I got into TWRP - Restored my stock rom backup and everything restored fine and as expected. I went to Root the device, using RootJunky's TWRP recovery and root on YouTube (which I've done many times and never had an issue - I'm not a noob, but, still have a lot to learn) Anyways - when you go swipe to reboot the system, TWRP asks you about installing Supersu for Root access, and of course, you go with it. Well, since that swipe - it keeps rebooting into TWRP - I cant get to the system. I used Odin to install Philz and same thing, kept rebooting into Philz. I've tried re-restoring my back up and now it wont .... it acts like it is, but then it keeps throwing me back into the custom recovery being used ... any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!
PS - Thank you to gr8nole and RootJunky - I'm always using your guys' methods and suggestions.

That's IF you are using the Stock 4.4.2 ... I restored my Stock 4.1.2 before all this started happening ... Regardless, thank you guys for your suggestions, but its all good now. After work I came home and decided to give it one more try, using Odin to put Philz on and go from there, and this time it took. Once I got Philz on, I was able to (again) restore my 4.1.2 stock backup (fix the flickering screen of course) and the get back to Nolekat v1.9 - thank GOD!

I've been trying to find a way to downgrade back to 4.1.2 after finding out about kitkat's flaws. After I installed it, I noticed three things:
- NO extSD card permission
- FASTER battery drainage (it takes a whole day to charge it back from 0)
- Games like Temple Run can no longer be played cause tilt sensor malfunctions - accelerometer issues)
The first two are a major let down. If I had known about this prior the upgrade, I would have kept JB 4.1.2.
Now I'm looking for ways to safely downgrade back to Jelly Bean. From what I'd read, people are getting stuck in custom recovery because the kitkat bootloader or whatever is not compatible (or something like that)? Also, those who have successfully managed to get back to JB now have the issue of not being able to charge their sm-t210R unless it's turned ON. So if we fix one issue, we still got the other.
@jonstowe78, are you having any issues with charging while your device is turned off?
I read about flashing Philz custom recovery for sm-t20R, and after a (failed) attempt to root my tab 3 (which put me off from rooting), I know a bit about the 3B method to reboot. I flashed a custom 4.1.2 JB stock rom using Odin and that's how I got rid of the messed up screen that happened after I rooted.
I would LIKE to root to NoleKat, but like I said, one bad experience with rooting, forever leery of it. Unless someone can help me, please?

Ditto that. I got the firmware from sammobile.com & flashed (AP mode in Odin 3.09) and I was no longer stuck. At that point, I had stock 4.4.2. I then flashed phil via Odin 3.09 (AP) - the gr8nole version (check the nolekat thread) and was able to install any ROM I wanted.
Good luck

Thank you for your feedback!
The truth is, after I made that post, I did a lot of reading on custom recovery like TWRP, Philz Touch, and CWM, and then I read some more about NoleKat v2.0, and how it basically is like KK but it gives you root access and sd card rights back, so now I've decided to not downgrade. I've learned a lot from when I first tried to root (which ended in failure and a dim screen with flickering colors), so I'm more confident in how the process goes.
I was wondering though. If I install custom recovery (from any of those three), will they wipe my data? I know you can back up your data using the custom recovery, but which one do you think is the least likely to have issues with KK bootloader (assuming the custom recovs have all been updated to 'play nicely' with the KK so people won't get stuck in custom recov bootloop?)

Gr8nole have updated the recovery for SM-T210 to not stuck in recovery bootloop(it used to happen only and only if you use any software method to enter in to recovery mode) download cwm for SM-T210 and you are good to go,
And none of the recovery will wipe your data, even if you select factory wipe from custom recovery, it will only delete all the installed applications,
And of you flash(install) a recovery, it won't delete any data/app

@gr8nole Please prepare two PARAM image from JB and KitKat firmware. Try both PARAM on your device, maybe one of it is the solution of this recovery bootloop issue.
To create Odin flashable param:
Code:
tar -H ustar -c param.bin > param.tar
md5sum -t param.tar >> param.tar
mv param.tar param.tar.md5

Thanks again for your feedback!
Wait, you mean the installed apps that came pre-installed with KK? Because that's what it sounds like if you say that the recovery will not wipe my data like game progress, rss feeds, recordings, etc?
So if that's true, should I still create a backup through the custom recovery?
Would that be called a dirty flash? Or a full wipe?
I've spent nearly this whole day reading through the NoleKat thread from v0.1 to v.2. I can see it's come a long way. Gr8nole is truly an amazing developer! I've seen issues like charging offline, recovery bootloop, boot animation issues fixed as each new update gets better and better.

No, not the pre-installed apps, but the apps you installed will be uninstalled is you perform a wipe operation from recovery(custom)
It's just a apps wipe, it will leave only personal data like photos, songs, etc.

Hmm, I guess I'm just going to have to do a dirty flash then, mainly because I have this one game app, and even though it stores my game info in a folder, if I delete the app, I lose my account, and it's huge hassle to get it back.
So just to be clear, dirty flashing is basically no factory wipe/reset at all, right? Then what does the davlik or wiping cache do? I think we're still suppose to do that after flashing custom rom.

You can flash it without any risk of anything being deleted, flashing recovery won't delete anything (neither any app)
Cache memory stores dynamic things which helps apps to run smoothly, if you wipe that, your apps will have to make that memory again(when it runs for the first time/first time after you clear cache) to run smoothly in future, but Delvik cache helps android to run smoothly, every rom need different things to run smoothly, so we need to clear previous rom's Delvik cache in order to allow new rom to create is own Delvik cache of its own, this is the reason the first boot takes a bit longer time to compleat because it takes time to write is own Delvik cache, sometimes, different roms' Delvik cache conflicts, so it can be like you get stuck on boot screen, just clear Delvik cache to fix it
Hope it is clear, I might be wrong, but this is what I think it is!

[ROM] [B207] Simply Google M2 8.0 **Update 1/15/17**

Here is my stock based B207 rom, Simply Google. This is great for those of you who have a hard time getting the Google Apps to work and want some extra mods and features. You must have an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed. This rom is tested on the M2-803L. Flashing it on other versions (801L, 802L) should work but you're flashing it at your own risk. All Google Apps you can download from the Play Store have been removed from the rom. I also heavily debloated it and removed a lot of Huawei apps. Please don't ask me to add anything in as I want to keep this rom slim. Open up Tablet Manager, hit the settings icon and uncheck Smart Tune-up if Permissions Manager force closes when you open it. Please hit the Thanks button if you like the ROM.
Features & Mods:
-AdAway
-Cust Mods
-Dark M2 Theme
-Deodexed
-GBoard
-Google Play Store, Google Contacts Sync
-Heavily Debloated
-Insecure boot.img
-Marshmallow Boot Animation
-Nova Launcher
-Region Mods
-SuperSU Preinstalled
Instructions:
1. OTA or Dload to B2xx first before flashing. The ROM will not boot if you're still on anything lower than B2xx
2. Download ROM and put it on the phone's internal storage or SDCard
3. Boot into TWRP recovery.
4. Performing a factory reset using TWRP is recommended.
5. Flash the ROM
6. Reboot System
7. Profit!

Many thanks! What a nice surprise. This seems to be the first custom rom for the m8.
Appears that it is for the 802l. Would it also work for the 801l?
At the moment I have 5.1 reverted to stock. BL unlocked.

It should work on both versions provided you update to stock B2xx first. After someone updates to B2xx on their 802L I need them to send me two things.
1) Their cust folder so I can integrate it into the rom.
2) Their system/emui folder. There should be a folder called oversea in there which I need to integrate into the rom.
Sorry, I don't have the b215 yet. There was no update to 6.0 till now and i can't find even a newer version for the 801l then the one attached.

The B215 update posted in one of these threads is for the 801L because when I flashed it I had no cellular data option at all.
Just tried to install the b019. But again it's a incompatible version. I guess it's because it's for the m2 803l.
Anyway, thanks for your help. I'll have to wait until until the official update hits my tab.
I tried with hisuite, but i have already the latest version available.

No, things like wifi won't work unless you upgrade to B211 first. Hold off on flashing until I sort out the root issue. Systemless root causes freezes. I'm working on porting the kernel from the X2 so I can use regular root which will fix the freezing issues.
New build up. Fixed root causes freezing in apps.
Do you know where to get the b011? The b006 is the latest rom that I can find for my m2.

You're gonna have to wait until you get the OTA to B215. Then you can flash this rom.
Installed this last night after updating to B207 from the other thread. Works perfectly, thanks!!
how can i remove 3g above my signal? my data is turned off and it still shows
New update. Fixed Multi-Screen not working. Rebased the rom to the International B207 version. Deodexed and added more mods.

Currently I'm using your rom with xposed included.
Is the update also for this version available?
Lots of thanks for your work!

I didn't integrate xposed this time because I figured if someone wanted it they can install it separately. You can grab it here:

Ok, many thanks for the links. I will uninstall xposed, then dirty flash and after the first boot install xposed again.
my 801w was detected during installation as 802l. Don't know if this is what's causing the trouble, but after installing via TWRP, coming from some b2xx official ROM, i'm stuck at the Huawei Bootscreen for about 10 minutes now. I know that the first start could take a lot of time, but this seems a bit unusual to me. I'll keep it watching for another 15-20 minutes and see if it boots up fine or is frozen in any way.
[Update] so it was stuck in a loop for sure. I tried flashing a clean b2xx from another thread, which booted fine, and dirty flashing your ROM over, but same behaviour. What actually DID work is flashing the boot.img from stock over your ROM, so keeping the other partitions from Simply Google Installation. At least it's booting up now, showing the proper Android Nougat loading screen. Let's see how it works out...

I need the /cust folder from the 801w so I can add it to the rom so it shows up correctly.
