My Samsung GN 4 died and I resurrected my LG G3. I did a hard rest and it update to 6.0. I am on ATT. I was contemplating putting on Fulmics rom but am having a difficult time rooting. I used Quick Root and there was no root available for my device. I downloaded Kingroot which seemed to work until I rebooted. I tried to find Autorec for MM d850 and couldn't seem to. I guess I'm asking is this device not rootable? I tried an adb flash and couldn't complete the root process. I have rooted for years. Samsung's is locked down and you can't root on the GN 4. I wondered if this was the same deal?

You need to downgrade to KitKat first by flashing the tot image for it. Afterwards, you should be and to root and install TWRP.
Thank you. I was wondering about that. Not a lot of activity in this phone anymore from users. People seem to have moved on.

No problem. A lot of the g3 discussion, including d850 has moved to the main g3 section. You might check over there.

Is there any possible way right now to root the ls990 without the use of a computer? For example on my Lg g2 I used stump and then downloaded superSu and flashed roms via TWRP. I am currently waiting on a new computer but that won't show for another 2 weeks. So any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
(sorry for double post, XDA app won't let me edit post.) also should mention I'm on 5.0
hey guys ive got a TWN V20c and ive looked ages for a solution to install a custom ROM but no success.
I tried the official bootlocker method but understood that its a nogo from LG
sooo if there isnt a method for mm fro unlocking and no root injection for 6.0 then whats our options??

The only option is reverting to Lollipop. Yes, it sucks and LG have lost me as a customer after this phone.
Your only other option is to buy another phone and sell that one off. I've contacted LG just recently (few days ago actually) and they informed there was no plans to allow for bootloader unlocks of any other variants of the G4 in the distant future.
I explained carefully to them how much they thoroughly pissed me off, and how detrimental that would be for their company in the long run.
Samsung or Nexus will be my next phone, waiting to see what the next Nexus will be
Thx for the reply.. If I revert back to lollipop and root.. Will I be able to flash a custom Rom with the flashify app?

I think at one point there was ramblings about being able to do this, but the chances of it screwing up were very high.
I wouldn't, personally. I'd just stick with flashing a rooted system partition and debloat the stock LG crap away.
Honestly, I'd be using my Oneplus One as my daily if the camera was anywhere near as good as the G4.. So over OEM's
Personally I'm not even bothering with rooting. On stock Marshmallow. Just debloated using this
I have a LG g pad f 8.0 v495 AT&T rooted with locked boot loader and lollipop stock rom. I have full FlashFire, adb and Titanium backups. After 3 days of reading everything I could on these forums I am at the point where I need to make a decision. I really would like to try and get Xposed on this thing as well as flash dnscrypt-proxy. Was hoping someone with a little more experience than I could give me some advice.
I use Ubuntu and have adb installed but do not have any other tools. I can get my hands on a machine with windows on it if need be. My question is, do you think I will be able to install Xposed framework? If I try and fail will I be able to restore these backups successfully? What pitfalls should I be concerned about? Should I just leave well enough alone?
Last but not least thanks to everyone who has contributed to these posts as the information thus far got me rooted safely(Kingroot) and SuperSU afterwards(Super-Sume(totally worth the couple bucks)).
Just wondering does the Verizon lg g pad 8.3 have root and bootloader unlock? I'm thinking about buying one from swappa. Thanks

Hi,
I'll just jump straight to the point.
I recently bought the LG G4 (H815P V20f) and i want to root. I have searched everywhere and i cannot find the rootedsystem.img for this particular version. If you have the same version as me and you have successfully rooted your phone help me.
I was trying to root using this method
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586/post63175848#post63175848
and also using this method
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general#root
but they both require the rootedsystem.img but I can't find it for this particular version.
Below is a screenshot of the software information.
Hi I have a lg g3 t mobile 285130e and I ve been trying to root it and nothing works, watching here and there I have not found yet a way to root it. I want it rooted because LG has dropped the updates of system in this phone and it is such a good one that I don't want to change though, Looking forward to try Cyanogen mod or lineage OS android 7.0.1 ...so if anyone could point me out to someone that successfully has rooted one of these phones, let me know, please thanks.
Gus
Have not worked with lg. To Root phone install TWRP for your device model, then install supersu zip. After restart get root checker basic to verify phone is rooted.
