Attempting to update my N7 to apply the latest Android updates. It is rooted, but standard Android and was on 6.0.1 MMB29K and I've managed to get it to MMB29V by using Flash Fire and doing incremental downloads/updates, but it refuses to go any further. FF goes through all the motions of looking like it is doing something, but the device always ends up still on MMB29V.
Where am I going wrong?
Thanks for all your help with that one, much appreciated.
Now for my next trick. When I go into Settings, tap About Tablet and then System Update the settings app crashes. Also, I have never had my apps set to auto update in the Play Store, but that setting changed on its own and updated everything in the background without my knowing. I have not been into the Play Store settings in months (years?) and could not have accidentally toggled this back on, so how did that happen? This is an immense irritation, as I like to dictate when to update things!

I was on GENNXT SUPERIOR ROM - the Russian build for quite sometime.Today while I phone was idle, some google update downloaded itself. Once the it applied itself, the language went back to Russian. To make matters worse, the phone went into boot loop mode. It would start, apply google update, work for sometime and then reboot again. Finally had to do a factory reset and wipe all my contacts/messages. This really pissed me off as I have been seeing this bull**** about "automatic" update for quite sometime. Is there way to permanently disable it so that updates are only downloaded when I approve them?
Do you mean Google Play store auto update? If so, launch Google play, setting, auto update, set to "Do Not Auto-update apps".
Has anyone been able to get Android Auto to work using the official Marshmallow release? The first issue I ran into was that Google Play Store states that it's incompatible. I worked around this by installing it using APKPure. During the initial setup, it asks the user to allow Android Auto to show notifications on top of other apps and to turn these on in the next screens. I have enabled what I could in the settings as shown in the attachments but it still won't get past this screen. Is there anything else I could do or try?
Flashed OTA to Oreo tonight, was 7.1.2 August Update, Unlocked, Google Phone on Verizon Network
Flashed this kernel:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/development/kernel-stock-kernel-safetynet-patch-t3588154
Rooted with Su, and Hidden with Suhide
After every restart, i get 2 app crashes of Gboard and Google App Services, the keyboard and everything seems to function normally after the crashes.
Attempted to clear data/caches on both apps, no change.
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? Would prefer not to wipe completely.
Thank you
It might be a simple OTA issue, it probably bring some unneeded props from previous build (I adjusted nav bar in beta 3 so I can use pip but even after final release I still have it).
You can always flash factory ota image without wiping the phone. You need to edit a .bat file ofc, which is just removing a "-w" part.
But don't take my advice if you are not going to take a back up. It might get ugly also ?
Thank you for your thoughts. I spent too many hours trying to get it to work properly. I think I have it now. Hopefully this helps someone:
I found greenify was having issues and possibly locking apps/files after the update.
Uninstalled Greenify, and Pandora (which Greenify was complaining about)
Uninstalled Gboard
Removed device admin for Play Services
Uninstalled all updates for Play Services
Cleared all app preferences
Rebooted
Installed Play Services
Installed Gboard
Rebooted
Installed Greenify
Installed Pandora
Errors gone at this point. Will report back if something else comes up.
Hey so I dug up my old Galaxy Nexus and wanted to get it ready for my dad to use. However after booting up when ever I try to do anything (press on an app or the menu) a notification pops up saying " Trebuche launcher has crashed". Rendering me unable to do anything as I can't get into the menu or settings either. I am not sure what to do. I think the phone has some version of Jelly bean on it from Cyenogen mod. It is a while back since I did anything with it.
So before I mess up and brick it I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to go forward with it.
In a crazy coincidence this is exactly the problem I ran into yesterday. I factory reset it in TWRP several times and it always eventually happened again. It may not be related, but it first happened immediately after updating the play store/services and agreeing to the play protect.
This last time I removed the SIM, reset, and reboot it. I immediately opened the play store (without opening the app drawer or trying to click on settings), turned off auto updating, and downloaded Nova Launcher. When you click home it asks which you'd prefer. I was then able to go to settings without any problems.
So far it's been about 45 minutes without crashing and restarting.
LineageOS (the successor of CyanogenMod) has an official build for toro that is currently maintained so after a complete backup I intend to flash it.
Hope this helped
I have an unlocked Fold 3, purchased directly from Samsung. When I try to do the OTA update to Android 12, after the reboot into the updater (the robot screen), it fails every time at 25% and then reboots back into 11. I have verified Google play services are up to dare.
Anyone have an idea other than doing a factory reset and then trying?

Are you taking an OTA update that was pushed to your phone? Or are you trying to manually update it?
If it's the OTA, use Odin to do a fresh install. You will likely end up losing stuff but that makes it a clean install. Backup everything, screen shots for things you can't just backup, and you should be back in the saddle.
There's not much else you can do via OTA. Even Sammy will suggest a reset, but they aren't much help anyway.
Try using Samsung smart switch through a pc. Connect your phone to pc and there you can select update and it shall update your phone. Hopefully this will pass without issue.
