Too sensitive for fat or small hands... - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Anyone else finding that with such thin bezels and such a responsive screen, that the OP3 could use edge or palm rejection ? This is an issue when my flesh triggers the digitizer when I'm reaching across. Maybe it's not a palm rejection feature that could fix it, but just a sensitivity thing for the edge of the screen.

Hydrogen OS has better edge rejection in their last update, so we can only hope that we'll see it in Oxygen OS, too.

I'm also facing such accidental touches.
it may be due to too sensitive screen

[Q] Xperia arc screen too sensitive?

Hi all,
I simply love this phone, but I'm facing a situation that my screen is too sensitive. The home screens were so sensitive a few programs were started without my knowledge. It got better after I switched to Launcher Pro.
However, it is still too sensitive in other areas. When I'm scrolling down, say, the apps in Market, I'll always end up selecting a few items accidentally before I reach the end of the list.
I've used HTC Desire in the past and I'm quite sure the problem is not due to me.
Does anyone else face the same problem, or I have a hardware problem? Or software problem? Can I be tweaked by any means?
Any feedback would be useful! Thanks!!!
KG
I faced this problem before... while swiping, apps accidentally open. But instead of "too sensitive" i thought it's insensitive... because a short swipe was sometimes interpreted as a tap (maybe because the swipe was not fully detected?).
Anyway, I had 2 layers on my device... the pre-applied sheet and another screen protector that came with the box.
I removed the second layer, leaving only the pre-applied sheet, and all is well again... no more accidental "taps"

Dude, you mean the cause was the screen protector that came with the phone???

For my case, maybe 2 layers is just too thick
I'm having the same problem. And that solution seems to make sense. I would give it a try, but if the problem still occurs, I'd be wasting one screen protector..

That was how I solved my problem. I actually put on the spare screen protector because when I got the set I didn't realize there was already a pre-applied layer.
Don't blame me if it doesn't work for you
perhaps some of you guys just have the shakes?! ;-p
I guess the screen is never to perfect for everyone.
kargtan, I've noticed the same about the tap sensitivity - I often accidentally "tap" when I mean to swipe. Came from an iPhone 3g and didn't notice this on that device. Might be a matter of getting used to it, not sure. Have you gotten any feedback from others in other forums?
I've noticed this too, and put it down to the screen protector. It's not android OS causing it, never had the problem on my htc hero...
However, now that i've gotten used to the phone it doesnt do it any more - guess my brain has automatically trained itself to drag the screen a little bit more firmly or something.
One thing i have noticed about the arc is: because the bezel around the screen is so thin, i often accidentally launch apps just by holding it. My fingers wrap around slightly & touch the edges of the screen.
Does any of you have problems while trying to swap a screen from another and instead of swapping you get like a "bounce" and stay on the same screen? because that happens to me all the time, I came from an htc Legend and this is making me crazy !
btw, this happens to me if I hold the phone with my right hand and try to do the swapping with my thumb, the only way to get it right is to hold the phone with my left hand and use the index of my right hand
Screen too/not sensitive
Hi guys,
I think the problem arises from the slowness of the phone, not "too sensitive". I used to use the HTC Desire in the past and I was very used to the screen scrolling very quickly. In contrast, the arc is slower and hence the screens don't scroll as fast and hence my way of handling the Desire would cause the problems stated.
I did a few things since my last posting and it seems better now:
Replace the SE Home with Launcher Pro - this seems to have improved on the speed of the phone, and hence better responsiveness to the touch.
Rooted the phone and uninstalled some stock programs.
Removed useless widgets on the desktops.
Adjusted my way of scrolling as someone has suggested.
This is quite frustrating at times, especially so because other than this problem, this phone is a gem, especially its form factor, the sound quality and most importantly, the quality of the camera.
I might sell the phone once the company issues me with a Blackberry (DANG!), but I am kinda unwilling because I have been taking lots of photos with my Android phones and these photos are generally well-liked by my Facebook friends.
agree with bezel thing and hard to use thumb.
noticed arc screen (the screen guard perhaps ) easily get oily and slippery.
had to wipe phone and wash hand so often that make me like some sort of disorder.
Don't know why you guys seem to be having problems... I don't have any issues with my screen swipes at all... smooth and fast.. both on stock and Launcher Pro..
Same deal here. But that's because the screen is sensitive beyond the display area including the black border, and the edge is too narrow. When I use one hand swiping or tapping, the palm of my hand touches the black border. The screen registers two touches in quick succession and thus jumps.
In Phone keypad, enter *#*#7378423#*#* (the numbers mean SERVICE word in keypad), you can go into test mode. Select [Service test]->[Touch Screen] to test the badly touch screen of SE Phones.
You will discover when you swipe the edge of touch screen, the touched result is very not satisfied. The lines you swiped will not accurate and appear like jags, or stick on the edge of the screen.
The touch panel made in China...? ;-)
Me too!
Hey!
i also have a xperia tipo....and i too have the sensitive problem
Could also be a kernel problem?
I remember I installed a kernel a while back that would make my screen hypersensitive; just hovering over the screen would already activate it!
I don't remember which one, it was back in the GB days. But I'm pretty sure it can be changed in the kernel.

Turn down touch screen sensitivity?

Hi All,
Is it possible to turn down the touch screen sensitivity on the M8? I am finding that I do not even have to touch the screen in many cases and as a result the phone is doing a lot of unintentional things. Its especially annoying when texting as the phone registers a press as soon as the surface of my thumb comes near the screen, which might not be the area where i'm actually pressing. I had the same issue on my M7 too but didn't keep the phone for very long.
I'll bump this, interested myself.

I'd try using a screen protector. The M8 screen is propably more sensitive in order to work with the flip cover, which adds a quite thick layer to the digitizer. In order to actually decrease the sensitivity, you'd propably have to modify the touchscreen driver.
I have an otter case which has a screen protector, and the sensitivity is still outrageous.

This annoys the hell out of me too. Such a shame as I've just come from an iPhone 5S and prefer almost everything about the M8. It's only this and the slightly underwhelming camera that annoy. I'm still happy I switched.
Also have a screen protector - a glass one, 0.3 mm. I barley have to touch the screen, what's more, could have sworn a couple of times I haven't actually touched it. Ha, a microfiber screen wipe is enough to unlock the phone but since I turned off motion launch gestures I can live with it .
edit - maybe the "gloves mode" that's available in other brand android phones is on by default?

[Q] Dashboard mounted N7 touch screen unresponsive

I have a rooted 2013 N7 running 5.0.2 that I recently installed in the dash of my car. During normal (handheld) use my touch screen works OK though it does have some periodic difficulties as seems to be common with this unit. However, when I mount the tablet in my dash, the touch screen is almost completely unresponsive. The tablet is mounted behind my stereo trim bezel so that there is plastic trim piece in contact with the full perimeter of the front glass. I believe the trim piece does not overlap with the LCD screen. Even so, I am assuming this is screwing with the touch responsiveness. When there is a little pressure on the edges of the screen - most of touch is unresponsive. Has anyone run into this problem? Ideas, insight, links to other threads are very appreciated. Thank you.

In your case, there are 2 reasons I know of that interfere with the touch operation: (1) the grounding issue where without holding the tab in your hand would cause unresponsiveness. Easy to test: if you leave the tab on a flat surface without touching it, and it doesn't respond well to touches, you can try multi-fix hacks. It helped in my experience. The battery percentage also affects - the lower it goes, the less responsive it becomes.
If it does respond then (2) the problem is what you've already identified. Any pressure, however slight, on the tab or glass would distort responsiveness on some units. In my experience, something as innocuous as adjusting the angle at which the tab stands on a case makes a difference. Here, I've found no cures but to maintain it at an optimizing angle.
Thank you for the reply. I am not having the grounding issue so it must be pressure on the edges of the screen. I'm still searching for a fix to this without having to redesign my entire mount.

Pixel 3 XL Touchscreen Sensitivity Issue

The lower left of my screen is not as sensitive as the rest. Clicks take a few tries and scrolling is missed. The only one?

Is there a specific app you notice this on or just everything in general?
Obvious one, but do you have a screen protector on?
It’s in all apps and the fingerprint reader scroll is also not as sensitive. I have a thin film protector on the front but I have the same on the Pixel 2 XL and can barely touch it and it responds. LG vs Samsung?

Could be a quality control issue. Just because it's the same brand doesn't mean it will behave exactly the same. Could be thicker in that portion and cause touch issues
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
Maybe the material makeup changes in different areas if quality control is really bad I guess. But I don't think the material is interfering with the touch sensitivity I think you would have to visually be able to see it's thicker in certain areas for to make a difference. I've got another one on the way and hopefully it changes things.
Top left of screen not sensitive anymore?
Something similar happened to my Google Pixel 3XL too. Top left corner not as sensitive as compared to when I first got it, not sure why?
Initially, I thought it's due to my new screen case, but after removing and putting it back, it did no difference.
Hello everyone.. i just bought pixel3Xl and i realised that
I miss Touch Screen Sensitivity....
Not every time but it happends and is so noisy..
I have a Good screen protector thow!!!
Any news if its a software bug or the screen protector?
Are you choose option hide notch on Developer option ?
Nop!
I'm having issues with touch. Last night when I was browsing as usual, my device started abnormal behavior and got stucked for unknown reason. After rebooting manually I found that touch response is so slow and have touch with force. Any kind of help on this is highly appreciated.

active stylus partially functioning.

So i bought the a50 cause i wanted a bigger phone like the note at a cheap price. Loving the phone, so i decided to spring for an active stylus, the stylus actually works very well on my g6 and dell touchscreen but for some reason the upper half of my a50 isnt very responsive, and where it does respond is only on the edges. If i start a stroke from the bottom of the scren it will follow through to the top, most of the time. But if i start at the top and move down, it only appear towards the bottom off the screen. Tapping is even worse, almost no response on upper half.
I have no magnetic cases, ive tried two a50s, with and without screen protectors. Always the same result. Heres some pictures to help visualize, does anyone have a fix for this?
Scribles represent dragging, dots represent taps.
You could try increasing the touch sensitivity.

Thank you for your response. I should have mentioned, the problem is identicle, with or without touch sensitivity increased. The stylus work on a note 9 perfect as well. Starting to suspect its a software problem with the a50.
