Hi All
I have been asked to look at a friends Kindle Fire 7.
The kindle switches on and goes to a screen with a red triangle with an explanation mark. The device says 'Your Kindle cannot boot. You can reset your device....... etc'
You have two options, reboot or reset but neither work, it just ends up back at the same screen.
I have done plenty of reading and tried many of the methods shown on this site but I've had no luck.
My Windows 10 PC does not show any sign of seeing the Kindle when plugged in, nothing showing anywhere in device manager.
Will I need a factory cable or is there a tool/method that will work without one?
I appreciate there are loads of threads on rooting/repairing but i'm a bit lost with all the different advice.
I have tried KFFirstAide64 but every option comes back saying 'The system cannot find the path specified'.
Any help will be gratefully received!

if you get a fastboot cable, it should boot directly to fastboot mode
then if it connects to the PC
try fastboot devices command

So I downloaded KFU to root a Kindle Fire, And when I chose root permanently with super user, the Kindle rebooted and got stuck at the Kindle Fire logo. The computer won't recognize it anymore so I can't do anything with the usb. It says unknown device in device manager. Is there anything I can do? I'm willing to buy a factory reset cable if need be.
Try the Kindle Fire Unbrick Utility
The "Thanks" button never hurt anyone.

I've tried that, but when I click the "stuck at logo" button, it says waiting for device twice, then it says that my device should be unbricked now. Unfortunately, the device remains stuck.
I think the major issue which needs to be addressed is that the computer is not recognizing it as a kindle. Once that is fixed, unbricking it shouldn't be too difficult.
Me too!
Hi,
I just joined specifically so I could post in this thread, because I have exactly the same problem - only difference is the device manager has "android adb interface", with a yellow exclamation point sign, nested under "android phone". The unbrick utility says the Kindle should be unbricked, but it manifestly is not.
Is buying a factory cable the only way to go? Is that very likely to work? Is there any chance at all I can still root it? This is actually the 2nd KF which has had the exact same issue after giving the root command in KFU...

Really? I'm not seeing it. Would I find it somewhere other than "private messages"?
If you find yourself stuck in fastboot after using kfu and it did nothing but sit and say waiting for device- After a few minutes of sitting simply just long press on the power button till it turns off -then power it back on. the instructions in the terminal literally say just that. It will then send all the required files to your kindle if you selected the permanent root option. Make sure you have allowed installation from unknown sources and have closed the usb connection application prior to making any selection.

Is fastboot the mode where it only shows the kf logo? I thought that was the boot loader...or am I just confusing things?
Anyway, thanks for the info, I sincerely hope it will help someone else, but unfortunately I don't know what I could do with it now - I've unplugged it, and now the device isn't recognized by kfu or my PC - and of course, it's stuck at the KF logo. And I'm not positive, but pretty sure that once the kf froze after I issued the root command, I did power it off then back on. Seems like the logical thing to do.
This happened to me. You have to use a factory cable or USB pin short trick which I did. After that it reinstalled my drivers and I then got twrp flashed and then perfection!
***if you choose to do the USB pin trick I'm not responsible for any hardware malfunctions or anything that will make you kindle into a paper weight I'm simply saying its what I did.***

Use a factory cable. It will make life easy. Sticker on that logo too, same situation. I created my own factory cable and that solved it. Hope this helps.
Also, try to check your adb drivers.
Simple scenario,
I received a kindle fire, immediately wanted root. Found kindle fire utility and ran. In the process of installing a twrp, kindle rebooted, and now will not get past Kindle Fire Splash screen. PC will not detect that a device is plugged in.
Any thoughts?

I'm thinking that you just might be stuck in fastboot mode.
When you reboot, do you get different boot options at the bottom of your screen when the "Kindle Fire" splash screen shows up? If so, try scrolling through them to do a normal or recovery boot (you scroll with the power button, then stop when you get to option you want and let it boot). Hopefully, you can get to a good boot, so your KF can be detected by your PC again. But, then again, you might have successfully installed twrp and just failed on the reboot, so you might be fine.
What does the splash screen look like?
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using xda app-developers app
TO BOTH:
There are no options at the bottom.. I assume they would be obvious..
The splash screen looks like the stock splash screen that looks like the normal boot.
Black background.. orangish letters saying Kindle Fire
Plug your kindle in, open kfu, ignore offline and boot status unknown, select 1 for changing bootmode, select normal, if it hangs<waiting for device> hold the power button down till the kindle turns off while connected, then power it back on it should reboot and correct the bootmode to normal.
Problem solved:
Do not use a USB 3.0 port. I guess that was prevent my PC from recognizing the device. I switched to 2.0 and PC picked it up right away. Off we go.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Correct a 3.0 usb port has issues. I have been able to get it to work but its quite dangerous when it come to flashing things like bootloaders.

The problem is that is not even recognized by the PC. Please help me

If you can't enter "recovery" anymore via pressing the power button (e.g. you still have the original bootloader installed), you need to get the Kindle Fire back to "fastboot mode" to be able to set boot mode back to "recovery" from there.
From what you describe it sounds like you need a "Factory Cable" to get there. A factory cable is a special USB cable that the boot loaders of the Kindle Fire detect and then switch to fastboot mode automatically.
For both (fastboot mode and factory cable) you can find excellent tutorials in the "Kindle Fire General" section right here.

I'm Italian and I do not understand much ....
The problem is that my kindle is not more 'recognized even by the pc ...
The cable factory what?
Just stay calm. If your Kindle Fire still shows a boot logo, it's very likely you can get this fixed.

I'm sorry but I understand little English .... Basically I need a cable factory? I know where I can buy it indicate? (Unfortunately I can not find any Italian ....).
When posseggoil cable factory say that I can fix it?
Sorry, unfortunately I understand little English and are desperate ... I really need help
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
not neccessarily , i think you really need to imerse yourself in reading especially anything from kinfauns or vashypoo , trust me I thought I needed a factory cable too but you can do it , be patient , make sure you have the right drivers!!! Use a dedicated USB port (meaning one on the back of the pc), if your using adb the kindle drivers might work , it will say they are correct, but for me I used kfu and use there THERE drivers , they will work, kfu will get you a boot loader , might as well go FFF ,
Every Android device is different ,you may be proficient using Samsung , but Acer and Kindle are completely different , Kindle in particular is alot different than just android , READ,READ,READ EVERYTHING!
I need urgent help. As I wrote I bought a factory cable to repair my kindle fire.
But now 'I do not know how to do, and unfortunately I see the little' English.
I tried to connect the kindle with the factory cable and I get the screen that says: fastboot and the design of a traffic light. Now what do I do? I'm desperate.
I tried to use unbrick utility but I do not recognize the kindle
You have a KF2. Install fastboot drivers and install TWEEZERMOD (search on google) then install freedomboot and TWRP and then mount, install a rom for the Kf2 and u r done.
Sent from a bird... No, a plane... Wait, It's a Kindle Fire!
unfortunately they are in a dire situation. I do not know how, but where he made some attempts, now my kindle does not connect more 'of nothing, not even with the factory cable and recharge.
I tried to attack the kindle to the electrical outlet, but will not charge, will not turn on even the lights on the power button, and the charger heats up but the kindle does not charge!
Help
Hi!
I recently got a second hand Kindle 2nd Generation already rooted with Cyanogenmod 10.1.3.otter2 on it. Google Play and some other apps where having issues, so I decided to downgrade. After testing a couple of different ROMs, I got stuck on the blue logo, an infinite booting screen. Funny enough, I think the mistake was to install a Fire first generation ROM into a 2nd generation.
Anyway, long story short, I've tried everything, SDK ADB will see the device but return a device unauthorized, and the Kindle First Aide seems that won't help because it seems that all the options need me to be in the desktop of the tablet and I can't get there... I'm running out of options and don't really know what to do : (
Any ideas guys??
If that's all you did you should be able to boot into recovery, not sure what button you hit on a kf2 though to do that. You can open the device manager and plug the kindle in while it's off and see if you see an otter2 device show up briefly, if it does try to right click it and hit update drivers and install the drivers in my signature. If instead you see a adb device briefly you should be able to run "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" and then plug the device in while it's off and it should go into fastboot. As a last resort your option is to get a fastboot cable.

So like so many other users around here, I tried to root my Kindle fire, flashing the firmware back to 5.1.2 but after using the ADB sideload command and rebooted, instead of being greeted by the generic "Fire" logo I got a black screen. I want to say it's a hardbrick but I don't believe any kind of tech is unfixable and if Amazon can fix it, so can we... Just a little unconventionally. I should also mention that as long as it's connected to a computer, the USB device icon does pop up for a fraction of a second then disappears so I'm thinking it's stuck in some sort of preboot loop. The only way for it to be shutdown was to pop the back and disconnect the battery. Is there anything I can do to bring my Kindle back from its perverbial grave? Any kind of nifty software that can breathe life into the device?
