Hi I have ViperoneM9 3.5 (Android 5.1) installed on my phone. I wanted to try Leedroid. My phone is bootloader unlocked and s-off. I know I need to install the latest MM firmware on my phone first.
I downloaded the HTC RUU. Do I need to relock bootloader to install the RUU? If I installed it, will it lock the bootloader? I believe the S-off will remain, correct?
Since my phone is s-off, I can follow this [2016.05.17] S-OFF Firmware flashing (Fastboot) (Current: 3.38.502.12) Should I install Full Stock WIPE ZIPs or Nonwipe zips?
Once I update the firmware, can I reboot into Lollipop or I have to install MM right after installing the firmware?
Just don't want to brick my phone. Any other comments are welcomed. Thanks.

You're s-off, so no relocking bootloader needed I believe. I updated my m10 using no wipe, but had the MM LeeDrOiD rom on my phone ready for flashing via TWRP afterwards.
Do more reading, get your files ready and it should be plain sailing from there, fingers crossed.

Hello,
My m8 is currently on version 4.4.2 with the custom ROM Android Revolution HD 7.0 and I'm looking to update the ROM to the current version that is out now.
So my questions is: do i have to update my phone to lollipop and then install the custom ROM, or could I just skip that process and just install the ROM by itself without doing any extra steps? If I had to update to lollipop how would I go about doing that, I'm not sure if i get any OTA updates since my phone is a unlocked version. If someone could help me with my question, it would greatly appreciated.

You need to update to Lollipop firmware, otherwise you will run into some serious issues on a Lollipop Sense ROM (like current ARHD) including seriously long (10 min or more) boot times, broken WiFi, audio issues.
Looks like you have the Developer's Edition. So you can relock the bootloader and run the LP RUU to update the firmware. Then unlock again, install custom recovery and flash ARHD. RUU will wipe the phone, so backup any important data before RUU.
Alternately, if you are s-off, you can just flash the LP firmware manually.
OTA is an option. But it seems a bit convoluted since you need to return to stock ROM, stock recovery, take the OTA, then install custom recovery again, flash ARHD. Although it does save you the steps of having to relock the bootloader and unlocking it again for RUU.
I have an AT&T HTC One M8. It was already rooted when it bought it. Running stock 4.4.2
I have installed the most current version of TWRP. I created a successful backup.
I am trying to install the ROM for skydragon 5.5 but it just gets stuck on the startup screen (white android screen)
I am S-on.
I flashed (via fastboot) the boot.img from the Skydragon 5.5 Rom.
I installed Skydragon 5.5 Rom from the TWRP install screen.
(note - these are the instructions from skydragon website and it states I do not need S-off as long as I flash the boot image)
When I reboot it just hangs on the startup screen (white android screen)
I can recover to get back to a working phone but I would really like to upgrade to skydragon. I have been having constant problems with bluetooth headsets on the stock 4.4.2 and am hoping the newer skydragon ROM and boot.img would resolve the poor bluetooth sound quality issues.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
You probably need to update your firmware/hboot.

As mentioned, you need to update your firmware.
Current ROMs won't run properly (extreme long boot times, broken WiFi) on old firmware (hboot, radio, etc.).
Plus, the current TWRP will not flash ROMs properly on the old hboot.
I dont fully understand why but I lost my backup during my installation of the new skydragon ROM. The backups were on the SD card.......and then they vanished.
I did manage to barely avoid bricking my phone. I re-locked my phone, installed the HTC RUU for lollipop and got my phone back to working. I had been trying to use sunshine S-off tool so that I could upgrade the firmware but I couldnt get my phone to boot up to perform the S-off installation process.
I still want to install skydragon. These are the steps I think I need to take.
1. unlock/root my HTC M8
2. Install TWRP
3. Backup my phone
4. install the new Skydragon Lollipop ROM
* note - I assume that I dont need S-OFF since my firmware should have already been upgraded when I installed the HTC Lollipop RUU.
If my phone is S-off will the skydragon lollipop ROM installation automatically install the firmware? Or is that a separate installation?
1: You lost all because you ran a RUU !
2: A custom rom NEVER changes the firmware

To confirm whether the firmware was updated or not; what does it say on the hboot screen for hboot number, radio baseband, and OS number?

Flashing a ROM never updates your firmware. The firmware partitions (hboot, radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) are not included in a ROM zip.
Firmware flash is done as a separate action, usually via fastboot.
Actually I lost my backup before I installed the RUU......otherwise I would have reverted to my previous kitkat installation rather than installing the RUU and losing all my data. I know the RUU basically reimages all the memory.
I was using sideload to install the skydragon ROM. I suspect I did something wrong during one my fastboot flash commands or the adb sideload commands.
I got a M8 currently installed is stock 5.0.1 - 4.16.401.13 / Bootloader unlocked with HTC Dev / S-ON / HBOOT-3.19.0.0000 (using custom Kernel and Xposed)
I would like to update to WWE_6.12.1540.4 using this downloaded RUU here http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
to have newest firmware, use the ROM or use a custom ROM based on the Android M builds with ahving the new firmware.
Can I flash this Unlocked/Developer ROM WWE_6.12.1540.4 (and flash TWRP again) or would I have to wait for the official RUU, relock my BL and flash and then unlock the BL again?
Thanks to HTC for making things so complicated btw.
All this HBOOT CID S-ON S-OFF Firmware BL - Chaos... meh.

No need for ruu, you can restore stock nand and recovery for your cid/mid and get 6.0 MM OTA update from H E R E
And what about firmware (Radio)? I thought flashing or upgrading the firmware is only possible with locked bootloader or unlocked + S-OFF.

Radio is in firmware.zip(which is part of all bigger ota's) along with other stuff(adsp, wcnss, recovery etc).. I've never relocked my bootloader(I have S-on). For ota's, you need non-rooted stock rom or nandroid and stock recovery. For RUU on the other side, if you have S-on, you'll need to relock your bootloader.
Done all the steps and downloading the OTA via device as I am typing.
Thank you very much for your input, Sir.
I have an HTC One M9 (Telus Canadian phone) Unlocked with S-OFF.
Rooted with SuperSU and TWRP v2.8.7.0.
I really wanna update my ROM to Android 6.0 but my current firmware version (which I believe is 3.10) is stopping me from doing so. I tried to upgrade my firmware by following the steps on HTC's website but it didn't work.
How do I go about upgrading my firmware?
Hello, You have to be stock to have OTA working
As you're S-off, best way is to flash a RUU.
After OTA you have to install Twrp and SuperSu again to be root...
You are s-off, you should be able to flash an unsigned zip and be done with it.

I'm a little bit confused about the steps I actually need to take. If I flash the right RUU, it will replace my Boot, ROM and Recovery? So the phone will be completely stock? If so, where do I find the right RUU for my phone?
Oh... I wasn't aware that I flash the firmware manually. But where do I find the firmware file? Would you be able to send me a link?
I'm a little uncertain what to do next. I updated to latest Oreo from stock firmware on US GSM unlocked, then unlocked the bootloader and installed the latest TWRP. Then I flashed LeeDroid but that wasn't working out too well. So I wanted to try Maximus but I need S-Off and the latest firmware, so I just wiped Data and wanted to start over.
What would be the best way to start over with TWRP? Stock ROM and all?

Just flash the Maximus rom from twrp. The Maximus thread says you need 3.16 firmware or higher, which you have if you were on stock Oreo.
Thanks!
