Ok was messing about with viper without doing a backup...
Phone is now messed up, i can get to twrp but can not sideload (its not working) how else can i get a file to the phone?
I did a factory reset but it will not work due to the viper install error.
Will they fix if its been rooted?
So gutted loved the phone so far
lost recovery now asking for password.
Phone is a brick
Try to download this here: Link
And then flash factory image.
I did try that tool but was crashing on my pc windows 10.

I'm actually on linux.
Is it safe to assume it performs a fastboot flash? (and try that manually?)
edit: I'm thinking of flashing the stock room.

In your case I would say just go get a toolkit and use that. There is no way, where you are at, to root your device. You NEED to flash a custom recovery which cannot be done on anything other than a computer to root your device.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614827
The toolkit includes device drivers and will do basically anything you need it to do.

It's really not that hard, actually only a couple commands and pushing some buttons on your phone.
*Plug In Phone*
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
*Volume up* *Power Button*
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery Recovery.img
*Volume Down* *Volume Down* *Power Button*
Install Zip from SD Card - SuperSU.zip.
Reboot.
Done. Takes at most 10 minutes.

Odin isn't used on Nexus devices (as far as I know.) They use the Android standard, which is fastboot.
fastboot oem unlock
That's the command to unlock your bootloader. Be aware, it'll wipe your phone (security measure.)

ODIN actually is built into the device, but I think is actually more complicated than just using fastboot.

If that's all you want to do is root & leave your device on stock you can just temporarily boot a custom recovery & flash the super user.

What do u mean exactly? I tried it with wugfresh root toolkit, the tool asked me for one checksum. And it was ok.
By flashing with .bat its not necessary or?

It isn't "necessary" in the sense that the batch file would stop, it's just that the file is corrupted if the checksums don't match. But if the toolkit did the checksum and it was ok at least the download wasn't corrupted. Which doesn't solve your flashing problem. Sorry, i'm out of ideas.

I did the same thing with my HK edition and I was s-on, but had access to TWRP. you can put a stocked rooted rom on your ext sd card and flash it from TWRP and you should be good (Also you can use a usb otg cable and flash from that from TWRP)
find stock rooted roms here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
(you may need to scroll down a bit to find the rooted roms)
Tried looking through threads and have spent all day trying to fix it.
Phone was working fine a couple days ago until it ran out of battery. Since then nothing.
If I try to turn on normally I get stuck on the Google screen. Only other thing I can do is boot into fastboot/bootloader but from there, if I try Recovery mode it sticks in a bootloop
I think you have a hardbrick bootloop, There is fortunately a kernel and recovery developed by developers to overcome this problem, but you'll need a unlocked bootloader as it involves flashing recovery and boot.img. If you have boot loader unlocked, go to general section where you'll find a thread regarding the same. All the best
I tried that - flashed the recovery but when I try to launch recovery mode I just get a bootloop again.

if you're returning it to Google they don't really care if it's locked or not. I've sent them back for an RMA both ways never had any problems
Agree, relocking shouldn't be needed for a RMA...
Just make sure your device is completely stock at the very least.
Personally, I'd flash the factory images to both slots and lock the bootloader. However, if others have suggested they don't have any issues sending it back with the bootloader unlocked, then just flash the factory images.
Although, it is just one command to lock it (just be absolutely sure you're completely stock before locking, if you go that route).

You could download the OTA zip and move it to your data folder with a root explorer type app, then flash it with twrp. Will twrp not decrypt without screen lock security?

That's exactly why I never unlock the bootloader, root, install custom ROMs, etc. I don't want to be in the situation where I can't use my warranty or insurance.

My bootloader was unlocked and it was not an issue. I sent my phone back and got a new phone in 6 days. I guess it would also depend on where you live. I live on the east coast and sent my phone to Texas and they sent me a new one from Illinois.
