From what it seems no g4 is safe. From what ive read even the g5s are suffering from this bootloop to. Several people said that ic power managment is the problem and mother board replacement are the fix. Now i dont know how far all of this goes as i have a suposed safe model and only have had 4 months.
But from a longtime lg user id got with another manafaturer. Such as a nexus.

Suposedly they are. But. Many claims that even the refurbs. Claims that the one that lg repairs. Bassicly. Rumors are no g4 is safe.

Your best bet is to buy a refurbished one which already had a motherboard replaced...just ask the seller whether it is repaired

Are all LG G4 with 6xx serials safe?

I don't want to risk spending $400 on a likely-to-get-bricked phone. I'd like to buy the H815 version with warranty. If I get the bootloop problem after buying the phone, is it possible to fix it with warranty?
No.

yes,you can fix it with warranty(unless you don't mess with the phone). So far only 603 has been reported for bootloop issue. No idea about others.
602, no problems so far..
.
I don't think any devices are 'safe'.
The problem took between 6 - 9 months to appear for most people.
There's no possible way any 602+ users can say they have been using the phone for 9+ months without this problem.
My H815 serial number start 509 release date 16 Sept 2015 still going strong. Currently running H81520D stock firmware and phone unlocked but not rooted. I have been on several other incl CM13 and no problems so far.

Yeah, I agree. As far as 6xx series goes, not many people have reported but its too early to say its safe. But since this issue has been known by LG so they might fix the issue on all models which are in production. Hoping for the best since I have already ordered it!

Hope you get a recent model. i've had mine 2 months and its a 506.
Has LG figured out the real cause behind this problem? If some of the new phones have actually shown bootloop issues then that should mean LG failed to fix it.
Also, after fixing it from warranty, is there any possibility for the problem to occur again?
How many times will the warranty fix my phone?

goood question, i have heard people sent their devices and cameback then it occured again.. this should have a lifetime warranty on bootloop issue only.

Same here. Got a 603 after I sent in my 506 for repairs. The 506 was running strong and bootlooped out of no where so that fear is still in the back of my head.

How to 'naturally' damage G3

This question will be controversy...
In few months my G3 warranty will end... My friend who lately send his G3 for repair under warranty got back new G4.
(Maybe they were out of some parts? Doesnt matter....)
Curently I'm thinking about to check, would I also get new G4 instead of repaired G3?
So... Is there any way to damage it without leaving any hints for repair man?
This is fraud. If you want a G4, buy one. If you can't afford one buy something else or keep using your G3.

You could try a few second in the microwave (but not too much)
Edit: BUT REMOVE THE BATTERY

change your way of thinking dude, or you'll end up brutally " damaged " in jail.
Indeed. There is no comparable warranty on your rectum. Your friend was lucky. In addition, he wasn't actively intending to commit fraud. This grinds my gears...

To be honest I really like my G3 Only thing which bother me is overheating.
I will make hardware thermal mod but after warranty end Thought maybe there is a chance to solve it other ways.
Read that G4 CPU better manage thermal problems.

Don't like the phone? Sell it and save up fro something else.

LG V10 Bootloop

Hey guys check this video below even V10 H961N model is beginning to have a bootloop issue like the G4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POr1M3C5ijc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT4gTWn4gpM
LG are digging their own graves if this keeps happening no more LG
so what you guys think ?should u buy the V10 or not ?
This thread is only intended as awareness to buy new LG phones rest is your choice
Let me put it this way, Its also like this with the G5. Thankfully there were less reports of it with the V10 and G5, but it is still out there.
buying the v10 is up to the person, if he really wants the phone, and has a way of getting it with a warranty, he should go for it.
Hopefully LG's next line of phones (V10 successor and maybe G6) won't have this issue.
But you can never know with LG.
Unless they actually fix this with next flagships, the G4 will probably be my last LG phone.
Its only begining to start in the V10... G4 that i also sold also had bootloop well atleast i was saved his loss i just hate LG for doing these things i feel sorry for him n feel bad for myself but it aint my fault its LG
im planning to buy a bootloop issue v10 for 70 dollars.do you think i could still make it work?can someone send me a link to fix it

will my g4 bootloop?

Hi, just bought a second hand g4 with serial number starting 509 will the phone possibly bootloop? Also the phone is the Taiwan model and I currently live in the UK, will having the Taiwan model cause any problems? Thanks
It may Bootloop it may not. There is no definite answer. You may have problems with a non EU model in the EU. They may fix it or may not. You have to ask an LG service centre about this.

If you ask if 509 is prone to Bootloop issue I think it is. Most bootloops happened on 505 though but the general consensus is the newer G4 you have the less chances for bootloop. Again there is no definite answer. We do not know the dirty details. We don't know which S/N is safe and if LG fixed the problem and from which S/N and after they did. We purely rely on public reports to draw conclusions. Up until now 6xx seems safe with only 1 or 2 ppl reported a bootloop on Reddit. Just make a backup and keep your data on the SD card. If you get a bootloop contact LG. They seem to be aware of the issue and fixing all broken phones even out of warranty some times.

Thanks so much for the response!!! So do you recommend I return the phone as there is a risk of boot loop and the phone is from Taiwan so they may not fix it?

I'm in the UK and have the same problem - a bootlooping TWN H815. It was purchased used last year, so no receipt or warranty card. I was wondering whether you had explored paying LG for an out-of-warranty repair? At this stage I'm looking at the best way of cutting my losses.

In US cost of repairs alone is 200US$ cuz of morherboard replacement either that or which u can get a used g4 at the same price so even if ur bootloops there is no point of fixing it....all i can say for u is to wait for atleast an year after the bootloop so the prices fall down for repairs....there is no way u can send it to taiwan also there is no warranty n recepit thats only even if u have a friend there...
Avoiding heat
Hi all am in same boat. Got a EU H815 an 506 hw1.0 and until a week ago had never heard about bootloop issue. I've had unlocked bootloader, rooted with custom ROMs nearly whole ownership and as a result have never had any heat up issues. After reading 100s of pages of the issue my conclusion is that it seems to be heat that affects a soldered component which eventually fails. So based on this theory I'm using Kernel Adiutor to control the throttling when CPU temp gets >55degc. It is only an educated guess but does seem logical. Hope it helps others

Definitely the cause. I did always notice with stock ROMs Genisys etc my phone got hotter than CM and logically it makes sense so I'm sticking with it :fingers-crossed:

Seems like the issue calmed down over the winter in the northern hemisphere. And now that the summer is in full bloom people are looping like crazy. Im hoping between being almost as far north as one gets in usa. So like 85 far. Is blazing here. Plus me doing the thermal mod im keeping my device cool enough to make it as i have no waranty so a mb replacement costs me about 200 dollars american.
I have a s6 and a couple other mid range devices. I wont hesitate to toss my g4 in the trash. I got mine on a trade in from my g3 i only paid like 150 for my g4 so nope not me. Unless i get one cheap.
If this was an automobile this would be a recall i dont understand why these devices arent recalled.
I saw a news cast talking about how they make devices so cheap and breakable "for the economy" why would u buy the newest devices out if your old ones are running quite perfectly they say. So this is for economic reasoning. So go ahead lg keep making s****y devices i will buy a new one but not from you.
Yea i want a g5 but i wont give more that 100 bucks for it in the fear of failure.
Like i said keep it up lg seal your economic fate........

Hi, my G4 had bootloop recently, motherboard was changed under the warranty. New motherboard was made in 04/2018. Is it known if newer motherboards still have a bootloop issues?
I cannot found any relevant informations. Maybe because nobody already have this old phone

they are all bad as far as i know. And yes, nobody has this phone as its later revisions bootlooped after warranty and its more expensive to repair this piece of crap than what it is worth even after repairing.
I have my bootlooped G4 in a drawer since 1 year ago.
I have a phone that's never bootlooped

LG G4 bootloop problem

Hello everybody,
I want to buy LG G4 dual sim smartphone. I hear that it has bootloop problem. I want to ask all of you. Should I buy it?
the bootloop problem is only on S/N:505 and 506 motherboards. You should check before buying if its 6XX then you are good to go.

I never had heard about a 6xx having a bootloop. I own 2 h815 with 6xx serial do you have any prove for that?
Tbo there will be no guarantee and as raptorddd said make sure you get the invoice with it. If the device has no guarantee anymore the chances are good (which is bad) that it is a 5xx device.

go to the reddit thread read there, go to the thread here G4 bootloop and youll see. the latest ive read was a 604 from some guy in russia. from pdnet forum. i have read people reporting from 601 to 603 just one 604. i have not seen or read a 605.
tbh I was considering the G4 only because I found a used one for cheap. Seeing the risk there is in buying one, I'll hold on to my SGS II for a little longer and get something like a OP3 later
i had a 506 which bootlooped, now I have 609. I hope this one is not gonna
