I've been playing around the Miui rom and there are some really neat apps that I would love to have on CM's rom. File explorer with the way it organizes apks, music files, and etc and the traffic monitor app that tells you everything bandwidth you used and whatever.
Is there anyway we can port them over?
Im trying to find out the same thing. The framework is different so it may be hard but if someone could it would be awesome.
the miui music app rocks! Been using it on my Galaxy s, trying tonight on Desire Z aswell.
well, MIUI Framework is different and it wont work at all in other roms. But why do you want to use its app for another rom? is there something wrong with MIUI that you dont like ?
I don't like how miui looks more like the iphone os, I like the way the stock Android looks, hence why I'm using cyanogen mod.

So do what I do and use an alternative launcher like launcherpro or adw. Works flawlessly.

I'm trying miui now with Go Launcher. If I could get the notifications in black I wouldn't see the difference from CM7

Ah... I love MIUI and every part of it. Of course. The normal stock android feel is also my fav.

Miui has really improved since the last comment has been posted. Its super rootytooty now, in case anyone wants to try it, and it can be themed outrageously to make it look like android os, if you don't like the iphone-ish theme.
Anyway, I kind of like the op's thoughts. I wouldn't mind a few miui apps on mexdroid, for example. Flashing and restoring between roms for a few nice features is troublesome ._.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/miui9000devs/ = MIUI MCGv4.3 - 1st June 2011
how is that possible developer jumps from 4.3 to 7.6 version with-in 18days.

MIUI.us roms: http://roms.miui.us/
MIUI Galnet: http://galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/weekly-builds/
(on Galnet, those are weekly beta builds, and the version number comes from the release date. theres also Stable, and ics framework builds on downloads.)
Galnet seems to have stable build for galaxy s
I'm currently runing Galnet MIUI whit ICS framework on desire Z, runs smooth.

You can install some of MIUI application on other roms, for example file explorer. I copied that from miui rom zip and it worked well for me on my ICS (no MIUI) rom.

MIUI default theme really looks like iOS yeah but you can change it very easily.
I'm using ADW Ex so i can customize my homescreen and use an appdrawer.
The lack of appdrawer seems to me like the main reason why MIUI looks like iOS. So you just need to install the launcher you want (or enable the MIUI app drawer with the MIUI Extended settings mod) and delete all icons on your homescreens to make your MIUI rom more like the stock one.
MIUI Theming engine is the best and that's what i would like to be ported on other Roms.
I've been using Redemptive Revolution rom for a while but I think its about time I upgrade. Maybe up to a gingerbread rom.
Does anyone have any reccomendations for a new rom that's stable and quick?
Here are some features in this rom that I'd hope to keep:
5 column app drawer
longer battery life kernel
fast window animations
Also, I'd like to have a rom that supports USB tether (as well as wifi tether).
You could try tee rom or a 2.1 sense from

McSense 2.5 or IceCreamSense are both very good roms. All I've been running for the last 2 months.

I'm running the Stock+ Rom from Jermaine and it's great. It comes with 4 column, but there is a zip in the forums for the Rom to change it to 5 column.
Also he has another Rom - Minimalistic Sense that is stripped down a bit more from the Stock+ version.
Overall, runs great and very stable.
Should be gettin some warm 2.3 this week... i hope. On that note I wonder if we will ever see skyraider 5...
I know this question will cause some debate but what would you say is the best rom for the galaxy nexus?
ARHD
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
What does that mean??
You didn't see a rom in the dec section that might be abbreviated ARHD? Or any of the other "what's the best rom" threads, for that matter?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
How about AOKP? Try that abbreviation
Terminators run on Android
I'm using rootzboat. I'm really good.

Definitely Android Revolution HD (ARHD). I tried others but none were as sweet as ARHD.
I used android revolution but was tired of being on 4.0.2 as the developer was waiting for Google to drop 4.0.3 binaries.
And Franco's kernel was for 4.0.3 only. So I started using Aokp and I simply love it. Aokp + Franco Kernel is a amazing mix for performance and battery.
Aokp also adds new features such as power saver to help with battery and with various status bar tweaks.
Aokp +, Franco kernel.... Nothing gets any better. Also Aokp pushes updates every other day so you can expect goodies every 3-5 days.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Always use Paul O'Brien Modaco roms. They simply work and let you get on with customising your phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
RootzBoat is by far my favorite. I like how it stay's true to AOSP and just adds little extras. Nothing too fancy and feels smooth.
I haven't installed one yet...I'm looking at Android Revolution and AOKP right now, but leaning toward the latter because I'd love to give Franco's a shot. Problem is I'm kind of thinking I should just wait for 4.0.3 to drop and go from there. I'd like to get it the day it drops, if possible.
Right now I'm just using stock rooted+unlocked with the 4.0.3 radio firmware. I'd love to install some graphical mods (mainly a status bar battery mod) but can't on Stock =(

I used arhd since getting the phone. But wanted 4.0.3. So switched to aokp. But for some reason had delays when unlocking the phone. And sometimes when typing. Tried wiping etc. No joy
So I am now using eagles blood with Franco kernal and can't fault it at all. Fb sync and the lock screen and great features.
For a perfect from I would want the power saver and UI mods of aokp. With the cm9 launcher mods. And the eb lock screen. Someone want to make it for me!

Haven't tried any others, but Axiom is great. Wait for 2.4 update for VZW services fix though.
AOKP looks cool. They have the HC quick settings menu and a slew of options. Pretty slick.
RootzBoat has a good rom too with lots of options. I just hate how they label everything RootzBoat (wallpaper, carrier id, etc). I'm also using AOSP CM9 Kangs too. They're all fun. I typically flip between them when one has a few feature that I like.
RootzBoat has a Centered clock option, notification LED color options, and a 4-way lockscreen... but no notification toggles.
I get awesome battery on my CM9 Kang. BIG difference between it and RootzBoat.
I also noticed that MIUI was updated yesterday to a pretty usable state. I haven't personally tried it, and there are some bugs still, but it should be useable now.
AOKP rocks! But I cant wait to see how CM9 develops. They have to add something special to make me leave AOKP.
Me too I've tried other 4.0.3 but to me they just don't compare to the constant smoothness of ARHD

Honestly its been at least a week or more since I've flashed a CM/AOSP based ROM. I've been dabbling with the custom stock ROMs. I do like this more than Carbon from what I remember. Lots of customizable options. Gonna run it a day or two and try to get a better feel. Very fluent and smooth!

I flashed for the hell of it. Its only been 35m and I'm down 12% in battery and my phone is retarded hot...I'm not burning up my battery... Back to a test ROM I go.
To Dev: nice work just needs polished

Yeah, on carbon, it fixed a lot if issues except made my and another users phone not like video playback. I didn't try it with Vanir.
It still gave me the random screeching. Also some weird app behavior at times. Good battery though.

Wow omg. Extremely fast and not one FC. Messed with every setting so far. Been using for about 30 mins. Haven't test audio,BT,GPS nor battery yet. More test post later. Dig the build in ram flush on status bar
One thing, I love to use pie and add custom app in the pie for quick access. App bar is not quick enough due to large phone and small hand. Only one ROM that I tried before let me do that but not for every other ROM I used. I wish I could remember but I don't.
BTW DPI scaling is perfect. Great job bro.

ROM is rolling good for me, so far. Data is good as well, I cheat though and flash the modem with ALL Cm build ROMS I've been running on this phone. This is a speedy alternative to the stock international build I was running.

Currently I'm on Carbon (deb). Seems to be very stable
Had to try kitkat
Flashed SinLessROM v2.0.0 | 4.4 last night working great so far. I like the ok google voice search and google now integration.
SlimRom 4.4.2. build 2.6 with ElementalX 2.6 kernel. Before this I had carbon rom and the only big difference i noticed is: i can't find setting for keyboard cursors/arrows in navigation bar when typing. Otherwise they are both stable enough for daily use.
I would like to try carbon again but i cannot find new nightlies(2014) for deb.
