I was a Verizon subscriber until February & switched to AT&T. Had Unlimited Data with Verizon as I do now with AT&T. Used FoxFi on a Verizon Samsung Note 4 to create a hotspot and it worked beautifully. I am using the same Verizon Note 4 on AT&T & the FoxFi Hotspot still works, do not have 4G/LTE just H+ speed. My Verizon Note 4 is dying. I need to keep my hotspot feature. Have a few options listed below.
1. Verizon Internation CDMA GSM Dual Mode Device. Will I be able to get 4G/LTE using GSM?
2. Am I able to enable a hotspot on unlocked AT&T device. Partial to Samsung but not married to it.
3. Need to avoid Rooting, my Lyft Beta App will not operate on a rooted device & neither will the Uber Driver App.
4. Any suggestions that you know that works.
If you don't want to root, then you will have to get a new verizon phone in order to use the Foxfi hotspot feature. I have been dealing with the ATT unlimited data and working around ways to hotspot on it. As of now due to the verizon phones being CDMA the best speeds you will receive will be H+
I don't know why ATT phones cannot use the hot spot feature through Foxfi, I due know you can tether and use a bluetooth connection with an ATT phone using Foxfi, however for now to hotspot keep using a verizon phone with Foxfi. As of now I know all Verizon phones can hotspot through Foxfi, not just the note 4.
Hope that helps!

Can someone confirm for me that the International version of the One X has Wifi hotspot functionality built-in and that it isn't blocked by AT&T?
Thanks!

Confirmed.
This post made from my MacBook, which is tethered to a Tegra based International One X with an AT&T SIM card (grandfathered iPhone unlimited data plan) running the built-in wifi hotspot app.
No guarentee that AT&T won't detect that you're tethering and shut you down or bill you for it, but I've never been busted tethering with other unlocked phones in the past. YMMV.
Hi, I was one of the att customers who was getting screwed/throttled after paying monthly for unlimited data for many, many years. After 2 consecutive months getting shut down on day 2 of my 30 day cycle I said "screw it", bought an unlock code, and now have tmo no contract, truly unlimited for $80 monthly, (with only 5g tethering). I downloaded the tmo app so I could track usage and pay my bill, (but froze tmo hotspot with titanium backup)
Using my att hotspot (which can't communicate with tmo) I routinely tether 6-7 devices using about 100g per month and have eliminated my $180 per month Uverse with mid-speed internet.
My speeds are routinely at 30-40 mbps - Life is good!
Flash back 3 months ago ............
I talk my friend into ditching sprint and his silly little iphone 4s, telling him about tmo truly unlimited, and I buy him a tmo branded N3 off of swappa, (since he was going to tmo). I knew very little about tethering back then, but knew tmo hotspot would meter his tethering.
So now he has hit 5g and his hotspot has been turned off.
Is there a way to install an att hotspot, (or any other) on his stock tmo N3 (which is rooted) or do we need to install a whole new rom? Looking for a quick, unmetered fix -
(PDA net has been mentioned a zillion times but does it really work like my att hotspot, set it/forget it) masks all tethering?
As usual, my answer is pay $2.50 for Wifi Tether Router... set a password... everything else default... Done.
At least... it works for me.

Not working for me, tried a zillion settings, (it's been a couple of weeks).
Funny thing is, I can get to google, I can type in "nfl", a bunch of links pop up, but when I click on one, won't connect, spins round and round, then times out. Links to pages won't load? How can I access google, (and other sites), but then that's it?, I thought I was either connected to the internet, or NOT? anyways .......
I think is has something to do with T-Mobile turned off the hotspot at 5gs tether, and these programs are NOT hotspots, they just mask the data so it cannot be measured. and when they turn on tmo's hotspot, it doenst work.
If I turn on tmos hotspot, I get redirected to their upsell page).
(maybe wifi tether routher will work in a few days when the new billing cycle begins and the hotspot is turned back on)
That being said, I originally asked how I could install the ATT "hotspot" so I could use that to tether, (like I do on my unlocked att N3 that I run a tmo sim in). the att hotspot cannot communicate with tmo so I tether 100gs per month and tmo measures zero data tethered.
So how can install the att hotspot?
I probably have to install the entire att rom, that's fine?
The phone in question is a rooted tmo. Can someone tell me how to install the att rom so I can get my friends N3 work the same as mine has the last 5 months using atts hotspot?
"at&t wifi hotspot on T-Mobile"
I still haven't received an answer to this question.
I'll expand it a little bit .... Can I install the stock at&t rom on my tmo N3?
(if so, can u post a link so I can get started - thx
Forget installing a at&t rom... If you are rooted.. Just install a different rom that has unlimited tethering.. Trust me it will work.. I tether WAY more then the 5gbs thats allowed.. And I havent been throttled or anything... My hotspot still works great
My Samsung Focus S windows phone is going south on me and I'm looking for a replacement phone. I'm considering the Unlocked Amazon Fire Phone for $199. I will be using it with my StraightTalk Sim card.
I use my phone as a local hotspot when my sketchy internet service isn't working at home. Has anyone tried using this phone with StraightTalk and getting the WiFi Hotspot option to work?
I'm open to other phones that can be easily configured to enable WiFi hotspot on the AT&T network via StraightTalk.
Thanks In Advance
You can share your internet conectin, havent use it mutch but it works

I don't know about StraightTalk specifically, but I've used the tether before with T-Mobile (US) and it worked well.
I am still on the Verizon grandfather in the new data plan. Rely on Wi-Fi tether quite a bit.
Has anyone gotten it working yet on this phone?
Anyone?

Meaning? I'm coming from a pixel 2 where it was disabled
Is this phone definitely working on Verizon now?
Verizon data doesn't work, but voice and text works. Speak to OP cs, suggest contact Verizon. I am actually xfinity user, xfinity lease Verizon network, my 7t shows "Verizon".
It's working for me, Verizon gUDP
/system/product/etc/apns-conf.xml go to that find your carrier and enter that apn if rooted. theres other ways too but that's best
I have the n975u from at&t, the hotspot built it won't work since I don't use their limited plans. I use PDAnet app for hotspot on my laptop which is great but it doesn't work to allow me to game on my nintendo Switch. If I flash to the N975U1 at&t firmware will I be able to use the native built in hotspot? If not can I just root and do something?
RESOLVED: SImply flash the XAA N975U1 firmware and you can use the hotspot, and retain VOLTE and lose the bloatware.

Three things...
Your saying your plan with AT&T does not include hotspot functionality. Flashing U1 will not change this, your line is simply not provisioned for it by AT&T.
What your trying to do is theft of service (IMHO I view it more borderline, but still any topic dealing with theft of service no matter why is not allowed here) by trying to get a feature that is not included in your plan and by extension you are not paying for.
No root method exists for the N975U and N975U1 at this time. However this was mentioned, though I have zero details or info about it.
Simplest solution is to upgrade your cellular plan to one that has hotspot data included.
AT&T postpaid unlimited plans (except starter plan) have hotspot included.
AT&T Prepaid Unlimited Plus has hotspot included (10gb) - AT&T Prepaid Unlimited plan has hotspot, but it is as an add-on item

I tried anyways and it works, by flashing U1 you get hotspot.

Your line must have had it already then... I've never heard of (or through personal experience had) this working unless the line was provisioned for it.
Though I do find it weird that your talking about wanting to do hotspot tethering with your phone on a limited data plan. I still suggest you switch to an unlimited data plan, especially if your wanting to use your Switch.
