Every since I did a factory reset last month, my data has been shoddy/non existent. I'm on the Verizon Network through Straight Talk. The weird thing is, when I pull down the quick toggles menu I can see that I have an LTE connection, but when I go back and look at the status bar it shows no data connection whatsoever. Also I can't connect to the internet. Straight Talk claims that the apn doesn't need to be messed with for CDMA phones.
Any idea what's going on here?
The phone is bone stock, no root, locked bootloader. I'm on build MTC19V.

Try doing a network reset.
1- Turn off phone.
2- Remove sim card. Turn on the phone.
3- Open your device's Settings. Under "Personal," tap Backup & reset.Tap Network Settings Reset button.
4- Reboot phone, and reconnect your Wi-Fi network. Make sure it goes online by loading a webpage or something.
5- Turn off phone and put the sim back in and turn on the phone.

All of the sudden yesterday my phone stopped connecting to 3G. I can still connect to 4G when available. I can make/receive phone calls and I can send/receive texts. I am fine when on WIFI. I have no data connection on 3G.
I have tired everything I can think of. Toggled LTE / CDMA. Factory reset the phone. Called Verizon. Nothing helps. Under Settings / About Phone / Status / Mobile network state it says either connecting or disconnected when on 3G.
I reactivated my incredible and the 3G connects right away. I deactivated the Incredible and went back to the Nexus and I still have no data.
Does anyone have any suggestions to try on the Nexus?
dial *#*#INFO#*#*
Go to phone info and turn off 4G for a moment and when conencted to CDMA then press menu (its the colon) and then ENABLE DATA CONNECTION.
If that doesn't work, I would go exchange it, you may have a bad radio

I have a replacement coming but I'd like to see if there was something else I can do to get it to work for the weekend. I have had the phone since the release date and it's just yesterday that this started happening
Why not flash a new radio if the cause is a bad radio..

If I have WIFI and 4G off it doesn't even give me that option in the menu.
It is my first forum post and I believe I am posting it in the right section... I tried finding a similar problem to mine, but seemed to only find people that wanted to turn LTE off instead of on. The AT&T Galaxy S3 phone is rooted and I have gone between ics and jb roms and have gotten LTE to work every time. The problem is after I reboot the phone I lose LTE. I get 20+ up 10 down on LTE. After I loose LTE I get around 8 up 4 down.
I have tried.
1.) Re-installing a rom which gives me LTE until I reboot phone.
2.) I have tried installing modems from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898. If I have lost LTE after reboot, I can (9 out of 10) get LTE to work again after installing a modem. I lose it once I reboot the phone again though and am unable to flash a new modem to get LTE back to working and it won't unless I do 1.) again.
3.) I have made sure apn settings are on the correct pta lte setting. Usually most of the rom's have that already set to begin with.
4.) I have tried the *#2263# to change it to LTE. This WORKS and will reboot my phone into LTE everytime, but I lose being able to make phone calls, etc. From what I understand as well, I am unable to go to 3g/2g after settings LTE ALL and I don't want that either...
It is the only problem I have had with this phone. I notice a lot of times after I install a rom and reboot, it upgrades, and I lose LTE. I install a modem and get LTE back. I reboot phone normally without doing anything to the phone and it upgrades apps again and I lose LTE. That is the only conclusion I can come to as to why I lose LTE after reboot.

I am in the same boat as you. I can force LTE with *#*#4636#*#* and setting it to LTe only. But I lose phone calls and if I restart it goes back to WCDMA.
What rom are you using some roms don't have the late icon they have 4g instead. Also double check that you have the right lte apn enabled
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app

Yea I realized that jb roms do not show 4g lte, they just show 4g. I check to see if I have LTE by doing going to the Settings->About Device-> Status and looking at Mobile network type... and/or a speed test as well.
I came from and tried these rom's
Year of The Dragon
Ariel.2.07 [2ETO][Aroma]
WanamLite Smooth,Stable & Battery
Right now I am on Stock TouchWiz Jelly Bean PORT (JellyBean 747 Milestone 3)
I have gotten LTE speeds on every single one of the roms until I reboot phone.
[Update- Best Solution So far]
I found that using the WanamLite Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782732 enabled me to get LTE back fairly easy.
Everything is in the Settings->More Settings->Mobile Networks area.
1. I entered in a new Access point and just put Name: "pta" APN: "pta". You can fill out the rest like the MMSC, MMS proxy, etc but I did not need to.
2. Then went to Network Operators and waited for it to search for the networks (takes a minute or two). It showed up for me as two options being Maritime and AT&T. I selected Maritime and registered it. I was not able to register on AT&T and I don't even know what Maritime is. However,
3. I went to Network mode: Set it to GSM/HSPA/LTE(Auto mode). I get LTE every time.
Every time I reboot I can get LTE to work by doing steps 2.) and 3.) and is a little annoying, but better than having to flash a rom every time I reboot and lose LTE. I would like to try and find a solution though where I wouldn't have to do this every time I reboot.
[EDIT] There might be roaming charges, but by disabling Data roaming you should be fine. I believe you might incur charges if you try connecting to this network while on a cruise and have data roaming enabled. I have not done a lot of research on this so I could be wrong.
Hello, I am on a rooted stock Jelly Bean Telus ROM with default recovery (I flashed the rooted stock image through ODIN). Every now and then I will lose LTE even though I am in an LTE area. I try to do the trick of turning on airplane mode and turning it off to get the connection to reset. This actually doesn't do anything. HOWEVER, if I restart the phone, I get LTE back with 20 seconds. Once it restarts it can stay on LTE for a long time. Even when I get a call it'll go to 4G and then switch to LTE once I finish.
But here's the kicker. If after I restart it, get LTE, THEN switch to airplane mode and switch back, it will never, ever connect to LTE again. I have to restart the phone to get it back. I've just done a hard reset and the same problem occurs. This sounds completely ridiculous and I've tried everything. Has anyone heard of anything as absurd as this?

Had the exact same problem with a Telus rom, I dont suppose you're on ATT by any chance?. Mine wouldn't connect to the mobile data network when coming off a wifi connection and would just hang in limbo until i switch mobile data on and off. Dumped it and went to a ATT based rom, problem solved. One thing I noticed is that the APN options with the telus rom are different than ATT roms, the apn type in particular
Ask in Q&A or the sticky thread for LTE
Thanks
My GN3 is usually on wi-fi, as it's available to me at both home and work. yesterday, I tried to use the internet, but I had no data available to me. Also, no data icon in the status bar. Came home, and it automatically signed back onto wifi. Talked to TMO, with no solution. All usual stuff done...rebooting battery and SIM pulled, and yes, mobile data is selected. Oddest thing is that when I search for Network Operators, i get the TMO My Account message that mobile data is turned off, even tho is shows as on. APN shows T Mobile US LTE, but when I go into Edit access point, all options are greyed out. Ready to pull hair out or at least find Mr. Samsung and thrash him. Any help?
I would like to know about the "Mobile Data" icon in the task bar so I could easily enable and disable it. Does it come with stock rom or any custom ROM has it. Such as Jedi Elite V5 ?

Good morning all.
My S9 is completely stock (Android 10) and I don't want to install any custom ROM.
Is there a way to force LTE only (Three network/UK)?
I have tried #*#*4636*#*# but this doesn't work. I have used a couple of apps that have given me access to the settings and changed it to LTE only and this is confirmed in the mobile settings page but the phone keeps reverting back to 4g (not 4g+).
I definitely have 4g+ here because it does connect if I reboot my phone and the download speed is double my normal rate but I cannot get it to stick.
Is there a specific APN I could use?
May I ask you for advice?
Thank you.

You can try with Force LTE Only app on Play Store since Scamsung is kinda blocked the Radio edit part on ONEUI. But be aware that on some firm, Scamsung devices will not be able to make phone call or receive text msg when on force LTE only mode!
That's one of the apps I have used but the phone just reverts back to 4g (even though Network Mode now shows LTE only).
Looks like I have been misunderstanding my network terminologies.
What I am trying to do is force my phone to stay on the 4g+ signal, because I get much better downloads. It is definitely available here because I connect to it for a few minutes if I reboot my phone. My phone is completely static with good, no fluctuations, signal.
Can this be done?
