Ok lets see if I can make sense of all this and get some help if possible. First I have tried almost ever ROM made for the snapdragon Note 4. I have a snapdragon system and none of the snapdragon roms work even if for the 910F Note 4. There was one or two but I never took the notes I should have to confirm and or deny worked. Now I see there is a way to flash the MM baseband and modem ... and I think it reverts you back to stock or need to be on stock, then you can reflash ROM's to get MM modem and still use 6.0.1 ROM's??? I have been running kyubi rom ... its nice but haven't feel in love with it. as of now AGAIN once it drops past 25% battery no matter what it drops when charging then I have to pull the battery and try to charge my battery. Ok that was off toping sorta ... my question is cant we just odin the newer MM modem and whatever on our rooted retail note 4 converted to dev edition? if so .. how? this is the process (( http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...t/howto-bootloader-unlock-upgrade-to-t3398144 )) and maybe I have read too many posts and pages of rom info and blah blah ... im so confused at this point. yeah I have no idea what im actually asking now that im re reading this slop of a post. how can I get MM baseband and modem on my Retail note 4 converted to dev edition? if I can get this done with this help with the roms that are MM and don't work with this 910V? because a lot of them require a data fix ... WHAT CAN I DO ?????
Your link... that's how you do it.
That will give you access to three ROMs that are based on Marshmallow: Jasmine, CM13 and PaulPizz, all ROMs developed for the N910V. louforgiveno has a data fix which, if I understand correctly, will give you access to N910F ROMs that are based on Marshmallow. I haven't heard yet how that has worked out yet.
The key is to determine the ROM base. It is possible for a Marshmallow ROM to be based on Lollipop. CM13 was like that until last week. Dr Ketan's ROM over on the N910F/G side is another. Once you get an unlocked Marshmallow bootloader, you'll need to do your homework before you install custom ROMs.

Hey! I've been spending hours reverting my rom to stock and doing my OTAs to get to lollipop.
My phone is a Bell M8 with S-ON. I am currently up to 4.4.4 and about to do the Lollipop update. I am aware I should do sunshine on 4.4.3 but am broke right now so was just thinking of waiting until it works on Lollipop.
That being said, the current Bell OTA for Lollipop is version 4.20.666.1 (awesome numbers btw) and most roms say I need firmware 4.16.x.x.
My question is, will those roms work properly on this firmware? Or should I go back to 4.4.3 and use sunshine (I am impatient and want lollipop now, but stock roms suck.)
Thanks for the help!
edit: I found this advice in a rom thread
In future Rom releases, you may stick with your region’s firmware as long as that firmware is from the current released base, such as 5.0.1, 5.0.2, etc.
Firmware flashing is not required for every Rom update. Most of the time it is best to remain on your phone’s native firmware for best signal reception, battery life, and overall performance.

So does that mean as long as the rom is the same version 5.0.x that I should be fine?
Ya you should be fine tuning that firmware with the Rom... Can I ask you to also please upload the ota for us ...I've been looking for it all around

Where do I find it I haven't update yet.. I'd you can tell me where it is located I can extract and upload it.
I have a TWRP backup of it. Would that work or probably not since the firmware isn't there.
Hello, name's Mike, have been in the android side for a while and it's my first time actually owning an US version of a phone, the N900T (T-Mobile Note 3) running 5.0 stock TW. (I don't live in the US)
So please, enlighten me!
ROOT AND RECOVERY
I have tried to root it and did it successfully, however when I tried to get a custom recovery on it, I only got boot loops so far, tried various tutorials, none of them have yet worked out for me.
CUSTOM ROMS
Are there any current custom rom development for this phone? I've seen lots of KK roms but I was looking to get a stable lollipop AOSP like rom like CM12 but without crashes or battery drain. Does anyone know any good roms that are stable?
PORTING
Also! How do you port a N9005 rom to a 900T? I've seen some methods by flashing a BT+Wifi fix or something like that but it seems outdated and I don't want to brick my phone just yet.
Please, please help me out, I am really out of it. Used to Custom rom on a Huawei U8650, Galaxy S2 and on my G2, but this is harder due to it being a carrier phone.
Thanks for your comprehension.
Did you download the right TWRP? Get the tar file and odin it.
https://dl.twrp.me/hltetmo/
Did you check the N900T development forum? There is quite a few to select from. I.E. Slim
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2638116
Sorry can't help you with porting.
Been perusing the forums and I've seen a few anecdotal opinions on using one or the other, but not enough to catch a trend. Have we arrived at a consensus?

PD1 is the better of the two but still not without its flaws. Both run hot and kill battery life but PF3 is the buggier of the two. So far, nothing beat the original KitKat 4.4.4 build but the January 5.1.1 update, BOK3, is the best of the recent batch for battery life & reception.

I sure do agree that they run hot especially withe GPS and/or hotspot active. So, confirming, with what you have have seen using the PD1 kernel for marshmallow is best? Can BOK3 be used for marshmallow or do I have to have a MM kernel for marshmallow; I would assume that.
I assume this is only for the kernel and the bootloader should stay at BPA/BPD with the safe update according to @hsbadr.
Finally, I have been thinking of trying out a kitkat rom and a lollipop rom on my dev'd Retail N910V. Do you think that is possible? I would assume that I need to flash a kitkat kernel and the BPA kernel appropriately. But I can leave my bootloader at BPA1 or BPD1 correct?
Any tips/links for changing roms (kitkat, lollipop, marshmallow) appreciated.

These are not kernels. They are bootloader/modem combos. I do not think it is wise to flash a Marshmallow modem on a Lollipop bootloader. I would also not be flashing bootloaders when I don't know what I'm doing. There is no instruction on this forum that requires flashing either bootloaders or modems by themselves. If you want a Marshmallow modem you have two options: flash the full firmware, lock your bootloader and lose root, or follow the procedure for upgrading to Marshmallow in the development section. You seem to be confused between the terms "kernel," "bootloader," and "modem." I'd suggest you do a bit of homework to learn the differences before you start flashing anything.
If yours is a true Developer Edition phone, you can peruse the Development section. I'm not aware of any KitKat or Lollipop ROM that is being supported, but most of those ROMS were created when you couldn't unlock a Retail Edition phone.

Thank you for your response and concern. I have been flashing roms and items for nearly 6 years. I accidentially late last night flashed a bootloader when I was trying to flash a modem. I made a mistake. On the safestrap Verizon Note 3 N900V we often changed modems because some thought they saw better reception (placebo?) and they all worked even with the latest roms. Sometimes partial firmware flashes combines two of these items.
Mine is not an original developer edition. I take your's is. I will take your advice and peruse the development area. Even if unsupported it seems that some of the kitkat roms may have been the most stable. Just had an interaction from another person with a dev edition on that.

Mine is an unlocked Retail Edition. My concern was that there are too many people here that flash stuff indiscriminately when they don't know what they're doing then think someone else can bail them out of their jam.
I've been on two HTC phones and the S4 and none of them required goofing with bootloaders. The Note 4 is unique in my experience because there's a bootloader for each edition of Android. I'm not a developer but I suspect that is part of Samsung's effort to lock the thing down.
My experience with the rooted Note 4 is from Lollipop up. I can't help you with regards to your desire to flash KitKat. I don't know if you'll need a KitKat bootloader or not. Almost all of the "old timers" are gone to greener pastures. You can still dig around that subforum. You can also go here, but you'll be on your own getting carrier data and perhaps wifi to work.

My problem with PD1 was that I could only get bluetooth to work up to a distance of about five feet or so. PF3 seemed to fix that. Otherwise, I've noticed no other difference.

Yes Samsung is different and I have the retail like you. I've rooted rommed and kernel Droid, three HTCs, the Note 3, and now the Note 4.
I agree that people need to be careful.
I have successfully re unlocked the bootloader, and I have flashed a kitkat rom. Before or after the flash a person would need to flash the ANJ kernel and modem. Either missing will cause a boot loop. Things are working nicely. We'll see if I end up on kitkat or marshmallow. I had my Note 3 so honed with Amplify, Greenify, and the AllianceROM that marshmallow may not add that much for me.
Yes, I've looked at the snapdragon area as well. So many things to try but I just don't have the time.
Hey guys! So i now have a sprint note 4. Looking for a touchwhiz rom, prefer 6.0.1, with theme options, bluetooth, and air command. Any suggestions? Currently on stock rooted pg1, and if i coukd change the theme of my slide down tray, i woukd be satisfied, but the lack of theme options are killing me. Thanks for any info in advance!
If you only want to use "themes" option (which means that you prefer to be on "Stockish based" ROM), then I would suggest you 2 ways:
1. You can flash Dr. Ketan's Galaxy S7 Ported ROM (I have created a thread for it here). It has all the new features along with the Note capability of S-Pen.
It would require you to first downgrade to OK1 boot-loader & modem.
2. If you don't want to downgrade the boot-loader & modem, then you can try Galaxy Note 7 Ported ROM (I have created a thread for it too). However, if you are on Sprint network, It might not work for you as it is meant for users of unlocked N910P variant on GSM network.
Select as per your choice...
Else wait for some time. @carlosggb will soon be releasing a new version of his ROM that might have theme support baked in.

Full stock tar includes the bootloader and baseband.
The bootloader and baseband thread has its own purpose. Depends on what you're doing. Personally, I try to avoid those ROMs that require a different bootloader for data but may use the bootloader to revert back to an older TWRP backup. Not so much lately though.
I've been happy with Marshmallow and Wanam unofficial Xposed. PG1 has been the best on battery and fixed a Wi-Fi Calling issue for me.
But if tx_dbs_tx figures out that Note7 port with MM bootloader and kernel on latest update, I'll be all over that!

This was the one I was looking for, for the record...
I have finally been able to flash a few Nougat ROMS on my N910V. I have NOT been able to flash any trltevzw ROMS but instead a few trltemo and trltexx ROMS. However when I flashed them and set them up I can get wifi but NO data. I was curious if ANYONE has any kernels and or data fixes for Nougat ROMS and if so maybe a link to share? I odin'd the corresponding TWRP to flash these ROMS, so would I need a kernel and or data fix for thetrltexx ROM or trltemo ROM .. OR would a kernel and or datafix for the actual trltevzw phone I have. Sorry if this doesn't make sense typing fast as im at work.
FORGOT the S8+ will be available in 12 hours and im most likely getting one as im sure a lot of other XDA folks will ... and then the Note 4 will drop lower on the list of active phones and ROMS.
