I was using cyanogen 12.1 stable release. everything was working. suddenly I could no longer hear people in calls and they could not hear me. I can make and receive calls, there is just no audio. I also don't hear a ringing noise when I dial. I have TWRP recover.
Things I have tried with cm 12.1:
I tried wiping my phone followed by flashing cm 12.1
I tried toggling speaker
I tried disabling google checkin service
My sim card works in another phone
I restored my stock recover (nandroid recovery?) and did a factory reset.
stock info:
SGH-M919
android 4.4.4
baseband m919uvufnk2
kernel 3.4.0-2437203
build KTU84P.M919UVUFNK2
bootloader = baseband
I'm not sure how to share logcat from cm 12.1 because i cant post urls and i dont se a way to attach a file.
update: wifi calling works

Hmm... sounds like something that started happening on my M919 a few months ago.
Another user with similar (same?) issue posted in general here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-tmobile/general/sound-voice-calls-t3392450
My reply was this... haven't tried the fix yet:
dirkdigles said:
This just happened to my M919 a few weeks ago. Voice call audio works via bluetooth ONLY but not via phone speakers or wired headset. Everything else (media, videos, whatsapp calls, messenger calls, etc.) works fine.
I did a lot of research and found almost nothing ... except this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heJqdryGhrs
http://blog.brokenlcds.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-speaker-problem/
If you look at the 2nd picture, I believe that the solder connections on the Audio IC chip (in-call audio chip) are degraded.. Initially if I put pressure on that area on my phone, the audio would cut in and out. Now it's completely gone.
I've read that if you disassemble the phone and use a heat gun to carefully reflow the solder on that little chip, the connections re-attach and this may fix the issue.
I haven't tried because I can't afford a new phone right now and don't want to risk further damaging this one, so I just have my calls currently forwarding to my GVoice number, which works fine.

Hi, a quick question, does it work on other ROMs? E.g., does it work normally on SlimLP, RR, AOKP, etc., to see if it is the phone or CM12.1 problem.
Also, to post a logcat, just paste it into the XDA post, and select the code flag.

I haven't tried any other roms besides cm12.1. I tried updating my phone using kies to the lateset firmware and that didn't work either. Luckily my phone is still under warranty so I'm getting it replaced today.
When I tried pasting logcat, the forum said it was too long. I don't remember if I tried the log with warning level.

Hi!! My girlfriend also has a similar problem, but she is on cm13. I haven't figured out the solution, but it seems that when you call someone, if you press the loudspeaker button twice (i.e. -> loudspeaker -> regular), the problem is solved. However, you need to repeat this for every call. Does this happen with your phone too?

I'm using Droid Incredible 2 and facing a strange problem that I need help
My phone is using GSM network and rom Cyanogenmod 7 stable version
The phone works without problem until I restart the phone, the Baseband version becomes unknown and the notification shows the message "No service" so I don't have any mobile network
I tried to reflash the ROM and the problem seemed disappear. But when I perform a restart, I experience the same problem again
Is there anyone know how to solve this problem?

I would ask in the rom specific thread. You're more likely to get someone with experience with that rom to answer.

He can't post there most likely since he has only 2 posts. I had an issue with Viper like this but thought it was related to Hurricane Sandy....
One morning I grab my phone off the usb (computer) and it says Vodafone instead of VZW on the lock screen. Hmmm. Reboot and nothing changes. Can't send of receive texts or connect to 3g but phone works. I tried pulling battery, sim card....to no avail. As a last resort I wiped data and it has worked since with no issue although that forced me to re-install all my apps.
Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your suggest. I wiped data and my phone works too. But I wonder what is the root cause of this issue? A problem of custom rom ???
Hello fellow xda members. Well after searching for a solution for my for nearly a week now i figure i should post the question to see if i can get an answer. I did search around before hand and tried many solutions but to no avail.
Background, I have a sgh-t999 that's apparently unlocked since I've been using a fido sim card in it for several months now. when ever I'm running cm 10.1, I have full network access, texts, mms, 3g data, etc.Note: d2mtr is flashed to my phone and my model number gets changed to sch-r530, baseband: t999vvllh2.
After flashing to cm 10.2 RC1. d2mtr. I get stuck on the metroPcs network with out any way to manually switch network operators because the option in mobile networks is greyed out. Everything seems to work fine in terms of calls but besides being able to receive texts messages i can't send them. The signal bar seems to be empty or greyed out yet it still picks up 3g data. I've vigorously checked my apn settings to no avail. deleted the voice+ apk since I'm not in the US being in Canada and i'm all out of options right now. If i restore back to my previous backup ,everything works fine and i did check to see if I loose my imei number after flash.
I previously tried flashing d2tmo to my device but to no avail, assert errors. It would greatly be appreciated to get a response and thank you in advance for any help.
Edit: It's a sgh-t999v as printed behind the battery. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775616 hence the reason why I'm coming from ICS. Looks like I'll have to reflash using ODIN which i was trying to avoid out of fear of bricking but it seems like my only option now.

Might not be the right ROM for your phone. Or it could be buggy. I've messed around with a few and finally found a great one that seems to be working well for me. I have the d2ltetmo. I'm running Liquid Smooth ROM with 4.2.2 and TWRP 2500 recovery. The ROM roots your phone as well. Any questions feel free to ask. Hope I can help!:cyclops:
I wouldn't flash D2MTR Rom to D2TMO. Too many differing things. There's a CM for D2TMO too.
Are you sure that's a t999? The baseband looks like the one for the t999v.. And it also looks like you might be on ICS firmware.. What I suggest you do is check the model number of your phone to be sure what model you have, after that update to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 via Odin but make sure its the firmware for your model. After this flash your custom recovery, and then try flashing cm10.1 for d2tmo.. If your device bootloops after you Odin, enter recovery and do a factory reset.
Edit: check the model number by removing the battery and it will say at the back of the phone.. And the firmwares to flash in odin are in the development thread

Well after a long process of flashing stock jb then finding a proper method of flashing cwm since i had difficulties with fastboot and went with the dd if-of method using the terminal emulator. I am finally on a stable cm 10.2 rom, d2tmo, where everything seems to be working and intact. Thanks for the advice now i have the long process of restoring my apps and data and what not with titanium backup.

I have a problem with my s3 i've flashed several different ROMS and this one is no different...for some reason the APN's for my particular model, (unlocked at&t i747) converted to tmobile) never shows up, how can I fix this...I've tried putting in the APN but it never saves
How to Flash
Hello,
I'd like to try the LiquidSmooth ROM but I'm not sure how to go about flashing it. Does the ROM come with the kernel or will I have to flash that separately? I've flashed other ROMs before but I'd like to make sure I do this correctly to avoid bricking my phone. Also I'm not sure which ROM is the correct one. I just want the most stable one. Is drdevs.com/devs/teamliquid/Official/3.1/S3_Unified/) the correct one? (sorry it won't let me post links)
My information:
Model: SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 (AT&T)
Currently running CyanogenMod11 20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-dtle
Android Version: 4.4.4
Baseband: I747UCUEMJB
Kernel: 3.4.104-cyanogenmod-g0c6f5bf
I am currently using TWRP recovery
So I'm planning on doing this the following step. Is this correct? :
1. factory reset, wipe data, system, cache, format data
2. adb push the rom and gapps
3. flash the rom and gapps
4. wipe dalvik + cache
5. reboot
Is that correct?
Also I read that I'm supposed to backup my IMEI/EFS/NV. How do I go about going this? I tried copying my efs folder from Root Browser but it says access denied.
No Mobile Data on SGH-I747 LiquidSmooth 3.2 Milestone
I have previously been using LS (LS-KK-v3.2-2014-08-06-d2lte.zip) on my GS3 without issues. I then tried updating to the LS 10-27-2014 nightly (LS-KK-v3.2-2014-10-27-d2lte.zip), the LS Milestone (LS-KK-MileStone-3.2-d2lte.zip), and the LS 10-5-2014 nightly (LS-KK-v3.2-2014-10-05-d2lte.zip). On all of these newer editions, the phone is unable to use mobile data, but calling/texting works fine. On the status bar, the mobile signal shows strong, but does not show "LTE".
When I'm having the issue, Under Settings -> About Phone: Mobile Network type is LTE. Service state is Voice/Data in/service. Mobile network state is Disconnected. Mobile Phone Number is Unknown.
I tried adding the AT&T APN without success. Wifi works fine as well, but no mobile data connection can be established. I tried flashing and reflashing these roms multiple times without success.
When I flash back to LS-KK-v3.2-2014-08-06-d2lte.zip I am able to use mobile data fine. Can anyone provide some guidance as to what would cause this?
You may need a kk bootloader and modem for the latest ls.

I'm running the latest version 10-27, leankernel 9.17, NE4 bootloader. Everything is working fine, no problems with lte or camera, however I can't receive phone calls. I can make a call but whenever someone tries to call me they say the phone will ring once or twice then goes directly to voicemail. Am I missing something in the settings? This was a clean install, as always.

Audio not working after flashing multiple 4.4 and 4.2 roms
Hello, I use a Samsung galaxy s3 i747 at&t. I have rooted and flashed a couple of custom roms(liquidsmooth, slimkat, beanstalk, etc) but I did notice that I couldn't use my earpiece with it. Anytime I play a song on my phone with any music app, and I insert my headphones, it losses audio and even when I unplug the earpiece no sound comes out of the phone speaker again until I have rebooted the phone. And after a reboot, If I try the earpiece again, I end up with the same result. I don't know what to do? Please any useful solution would be highly appreciated because I have no rom on it now...
Notification Sound setting is always on silent
I have been running the LS rom for about a month now and really like it. I have the latest 3.2 milestone and running the 9.17 kernel. The only issue that i can't seem to get around is my notification sounds for SMS messages (default messenger or hangouts) always shows 'silent' even though when I try to choose a sound one is selected. I actually this is affecting all app notifications, ie google mail, but i don't care as much about thos.e. Has anyone else have this issue? I have done all the normal things like reinstalling the ROM, clearing cache, reset, etc. Please let me know what else i can check. I have searched the thread and xda but can't seem to find anything specific to this issue recently.
No data connection, authentication problem for wifi
Just flashed this rom the other day and it boots up and is functional but will not connect to data nor wifi. It consistently says no service and when I try to connect to wifi it says there is an authentication problem. I came from an older liquid smooth rom. I have a cricket sim card in my at&t s3, not sure if that matters
Hi
Having flashed the latest v16 nightly everything seems good apart from speaker & mic when making or receiving calls. (No sound either in or out)
Of the three possible reasons I've found the first two do not fix it, these being generic problems with google voice settings and a bug in build.prop within the system folder. I also read somewhere that it may be down to which stock ROM was being used previously (G900FDXXS1CQD1_G900FDOXE1CQA4_G900FDXXU1CQA4_HOME.tar) which was the latest 6.01 Russian build as the handset was Russian in origin.
If anyone has a SM-G900FD running v16 working in calls I would appreciate you posting the firmware build you were previously running or any other suggestions.
Thanks........

From what I can gather the devs do not have a G900FD to test on and this problem crept into the next build after
lineage-16.0-20190910-nightly-klteduos-signed.zip
Basically you need root and then edit /system/build.prop
look for line ro.multisim.audio_follow_default_sim=false
change false to true
save and reboot.
Fixed the problem for me although I've now noticed another issue whereby designating the data SIM from slot 2 to slot 1 limits network speed to Edge. Only way to get 3 or 4g is to physically swap them over
there are also others reporting this problem, hope it gets sorted.
RESOLVED SM-G900FD (Galaxy S5 DUOS)
[RESOLVED]
I hope this works for others as well.
For me it worked, first I got tired of it and went back to stock Android 6.0.1 to check if its hardware related problem or software issue. I got cleared that my earpiece and mic works well with stock. Then I reflashed the TWRP using Heimdall (Previously I did it using ODIN). Flashed <lineage-16.0-20200419-nightly-klteduos-signed.zip> using ADB (Previously I did it by copying it on Phone memory) and Installed GAPPS as well using ADB file <open_gapps-arm-9.0-full-20200523.zip> (Previously flashed them after copying into phone memory).
Problems faced this time:
1- Boot loop (Mistake: accidentally gave permission to install TWRP application). Don't allow that just reboot normally.
2- Got issue while setting up GAPPS Mini bundle so I jumped to full apps. It worked for me this time. (FOR This repeated whole process again)
So far working well.
Calling sound can be heard on Loud Speaker and Earpiece as well. [ RESOLVED For me]
Hardware and Build details:
SM-G900FD Snapdragon Version
Build installed: linage_klteduos-userdebug 9 PQ3A.190801.002 edf6d6620b
PS: I'm a newbie can't post links to the files used
Hi, mine was UAE build and it worked for me by using ADB and Heimdall to flash Recovery and ROM (Previously I was flashing recovery using ODIN and ROM by copying it into the phone memory. Check my other reply in the same post for further details I hope it works for you as well. If it does please leave a comment for others. Good Luck! :good:
Previous build: MMB29M.G900FDXXS1CQD2... It's UAE based...
First I installed lineage OS 16 then went to linage os 17 (unofficial) and yet I couldn't resolve the issue and in then I went back to Official build (as I thought I have hardware fault) but it wasn't a hardware issue.

Hi
Have just tried this, it results in the 4G SIM changing to H+ and the Edge SIM changing to no data.
Lineage 17.1 is the same.
I really appreciate your help though, can you suggest anything else that may fix this problem?
Many Thanks
First I'd like to say a hearty 'Thank you' to all the people outside there providing LOS and assistance for the Moto G5 generally.
I updated my XT1676 with/from LOS16 (incl. TWRP, Magisk and Gapps nano) to LOS17.1 (incl...) succesfull following the short step by step tutorial recommended from "TheFixItMan" in one 'ROM'-threat a few days ago.
Now I need help with a telephony problem, which occured after the update and I didnt expect: Building connections works, I can hear my conversational partner, but he can not hear me. This occurs not only calling via mobile network, but also using the Signal-Messenger for a call, independent who of both establishes the connection.
'use-microphone'-privilege is set for the telephone- and the Signal-app.
device microphone works, recording voice with the recording-app and voice-notes via Signal are possible.
Using a headset works, too, but it has to be plugged in before a connection is established. Plugging the headset while connection does not work, unplugging the headset while connection and re-plugging loses voice.
The behavior of the telephone-app and Signal (voice AND video-call) is is similar in that case.
Does anyone know what to do? What can I do, where and what should I read?
Downgrade to LOS16 or waiting for a new nightly?
Thank you!
Edit:
Probably this is a the solution. Does that mean, simply flashing a stock oreo and re-flashing LOS17.1/Los Mint after that should solve the problem?
Did I got that right?
Can I use simply last cedric TWRP for that?
What means 'fastboot-firmware'? Ist that firmware part of the Stock-ROM?

First I'd like to say a hearty 'Thank you' to all the people outside there providing LOS and assistance for the Moto G5 generally.

If you flash a custom rom then the firmware it's based on needs to match the firmware on your device
Custom roms for this device from android 9 and above use oero stock firmware as their base
The parts that are different that are effecting you would be the modem part of the firmware
Flash the latest stock firmware via fastboot then you can flash the latest custom roms
Note looks like below server is down so either wait or find elsewhere
lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.
lolinet mirrors - powered by h5ai
mirrors.lolinet.com
Success!
That was really the solution! Thanks to 'TheFixItMan' and 'Andrej_SK' for his "HowTO"!
I got some trouble keeping TWRP permanently stored, though I followed it's instructions, but downgrading to a former version and reflashing the latest solved that. Maybe it was an issue of an 'invalid/bad key', what occured while flashing the firmware ROM and was notified later on the "yo-can-not-trust-this-device-screen". It has disappeared, N/A is shown now.
Now I've got a device with LOS 17.1, GApps, Magisk, TWRP working fine. No phone/voice-Problems remaining.
