I need to carrier unlock my OGP. I have a factory code from ATT. My phone is rooted and running Cyanogenmod 11, which is how I bought it. Now, for the life of me I don't know why anyone would root and flash a rom to a phone prior to unlocking it (for the buck or so that it costs), but thats another story. Anyway, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take this phone back to stock in order to unlock it ( it will not unlock with the cyanogenmod on it). I've read the guides, etc, but nothing works. The phone absolutely will not connect tosh LG Support tool. Im running windows 8, the drivers are installed, the computer recognizes the phone, but the tool does not. None of the guides say if this method (LGST using options/ recovery requires the phone to be in download mode--in fact, nothing is mentioned about that).
I am completely stumped and would sooo appreciate some help. All I want to do is take it back to stock, then unlock it. I will then worry about rooting it and flashing roms again.
Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to help a complete noob. That said, I have read the guides, tried the methods (although I think I may have an outdated link or tool or something) so anyone willing to help, please just don't point me to a link on this forum. I've been there, tried that, etc.

Hello,
I have an LG G3 AS990 (Ntelos). I would like to root and flash a different ROM, but am having trouble finding my variant as Ntelos is a smaller carrier. Does anyone have any advice on compatibility between any other variants? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
I've continued to search, but haven't found anything. Just hoping someone may have some information.

I've been researching this as well. You could try finding the beta version of CM for Sprint's LS990. I would try it just for the fun of it, but I'm nervous that I don't have the stock rom for AS990 to revert back to. I have my system backed up, but I'm not comfortable enough to rely on that to save my phone if I brick it trying to install CM.
Bump. I have the same problem here, except that mine got pushed an OTA patch that prevents stump and others. So far no firmware I have found is compatible with this device to even downgrade in order to root in the first place. If anyone has succeeded with as990 NTelos please help.
Bumping the necro in hopes of support. XD my software says as99020a but the writing on the back under the cover says us990... So I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do especially since I can't even find a place to download the firmware for manual updates.. Etc. :-[ Damn ntelos
AS990 Recovery?
Has anyone found a recovery that works with the AS990?
I have an option
I've posted a way to use TWRP and ROMs for the LS990 on the LG G3 subreddit, I need 10 helpful posts before I can post it here because I have a few xda posts and downloads linked.
AS990 experience
Hi all,
I have tried different roms on my as990 (Carolina West Wireless) by using the method on reddit (HERE) and everything works just a few things to keep in mind
To get your sim to work on a custom rom you may need to change the build.prop ro.build.target_operator=, and ro.afwdata.LGfeatureset=
Take note of these settings before you try to reflash the phone. If you change one, change both if applicable.
Remember to backup your old build.prop
Backup all apns before you start using method found (HERE)
Backup build.prop
Oh and did I mention backup build.prop
The restore files can be found (HERE) and use the guide found (HERE) replacing the files mentioned with the ones in the post. If you use this method to restore you phone, the build.prop from the reddit post will not work so use the old build.prop that I'm sure by now you have backed up or you will have to get the custom .dll file elsewhere to restore.
For all who have taken the ota update, the restore method works for that too
Your carrier files are automatically restored if you use the firmware in the above post. That is to say they were for me but if anyone else test this
no guarantees but it did work flawlessly for me.
Also I am currently working on a recovery for AS990 if anyone has any ideas feel free to chime in
A couple of side notes
The method by tybskinner may also work if you flash to US990 as well, but I have not tried this yet. To do so you would need the custom .dll or the build.prop for US990
Users have reported that SIM unlock is possible by changing the the build.prop ro.build.target_operator= to global or open however I have not tried this yet
If anyone has a method to change the PRL on the device please let me know I have tried several options but no method I have tried will allow the PRL to stick
P.S. not trying to steal your thunder tybskinner just making it easier for people to find the links
Thanks for the info guys. At this point I'm having issues just trying to root the thing. Lost root with Lollipop, and for some reason I cant seem to regain it. Oh well. The price you often pay for having a smaller carrier (I actually work for nTelos, so its my work provided device).
Thanks again. I hope you guys are able to get yours setup the way you like. :good:

Currently there is no root method for the AS990 device on the newest ROM however if you follow the guide posted you can downgrade to the previous version and go from there.
Have a look here...I found a way around the whole super secure as990 crap

I just managed to get this device from someone the other day. Having been an iphone 5c user for a while, going to a 5c after my last frustrating and horrible android experience with an HTC inspire device, I am back on android for the storage expansion so that I can play emulator games- only to find myself pulling my hair out ONCE AGAIN after all the numerous conflicting advice/ threads/tutorials out here which I have countless wasted hours on already. I don't have time to read through tutorials promising a downgrade from lollipop to kit kat, in hopes of a root so I can pair my ps3 controller wirelessly to my device... constantly stuck on odin failing and what have you, so just give it to me dry and clean. Please help as this is extremely frustrating and annoying.
Can I or can I not root this device? if so How? ( please provide detailed instructions as i don't know what the lingo is around here) If not i'm putting this thing right back on craigslist where I got it from. I am running 5.0.1
All I want to do is pair my ps3 controller wirelessly to my note 4, thought I would be able to do that until sixaxis said it needed 'root access' :silly:
if theres a way to circumvent this, please let me know. I do NOT WANT to use a corded controller with this. Battery life is already kinda sucky on this phone so i'll ened to charge the device as i'm playing

Have not read enough, if you have a Verizon locked bootloader... Recommend to put it right away to Craigslist because no root has been found good luck
If you can deal with root on a temp basis, meaning it is lost every reboot, then go that route. Otherwise as EdrickMg stated, it is not available.
How do I know whether the bootloader is locked or not? I might want to buy an N910V, as its much cheaper than international/Indian version, but I need to make sure whether or not the bootloader is unlocked. Cause I can't even think about not rooting a phone in first one hour of purchase. What could I ask the seller to confirm about the bootloader?
If it's a Verizon Note 4, then the bootloader is locked. There is no permanent rooting method for this phone. People are still hopeful that there might be one coming, but I'm willing to bet that there'll never be a method to root it. This phone has been out since October of 2014, with no root method found. There is a temporary root method that will allow you to root your phone, but the next time you reboot, it's gone and your phone is re-locked. To me, that's a lot of effort for something that you lose whenever you reboot your phone, but that's just my opinion. Also, this temporary root is just root - it doesn't unlock your bootloader.
If you absolutely must have a rootable phone with unlocked bootloader, then look elsewhere.
The only thing that we do have is debloater, which is a method that allows us to turn off and block almost anything we want. For me, that's enough, because the only reason I'd want root is to uninstall all of the crap that comes with this phone. It doesn't get rid of the junk, it just turns it off and keeps it from running.
If you want root to be able to install an ad blocker or to install custom kernels and/or ROMs, you cannot do it on this phone and likely (in my opinion), never will be able to.
Okay, I don't understand all these contract things as we don't have them in our country, but Verizon Note 4 and N910V, they are different? If not, how come there is a custom ROM and kernel for the SM-N910V model? The phone does show a red screen where Verizon is written on it. I am not understanding this!

There is a Verizon Note 4 Developers Edition that comes with an unlocked bootloader and it is rootable. I had to buy it straight from Samsung at full retail price. Totally worth it in my opinion. It is no longer available for sale on the Samsung site though

So your bootloader is unlocked already, correct? You need to have an unlocked bootloader and be running Lollipop, here's the thread that shows you how/what to do...

I used the instructions in that thread and didn't have any issues.

Thanks bud I'll try it tonight! I gone like 6 pages into Google trying to find something that works I got a little confused on the baseband version part. This is a silly question but if I have mine on
N910VVRU2CPF3 and use Odin and flash version: N910VVRU1ANJ5 it won't brick my device? And no my bootloader is not unlocked yet

You'll want to flash the N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_HOME.tar .md5 file in ODIN as that is the firmware that Lollipop expects/works on. I don't know what android version N910VVRU1ANJ5 firmware is for. Flashing N910VVRU1ANJ5 shouldn't brick your phone but you will need to have it on N910VVRU2BPA1 to install Lollipop and root.
Trust me, just follow the instructions in the post I previously linked. It's all laid out for you in what is pretty much the easiest way you can do it. As long as you do it in the order listed, with the files provided, it will work.

Nj5 was kitkat but I will flash the version you said I greatly appreciate it
Wait hold on my bootloader is locked will it still work? Sorry for the annoying questions I'm a little rusty cause I only get a new phone every 2 years so I barely ever root lol
Rooting this phone is pretty tricky and you may have to repeat the process a few times for it to work. Follow the guide custom_roms_epeptic posted, that's the one I used and even though it took me a couple hours to go from stock to Nseven, it did indeed work. I would recommend using the version of kingoroot found in the zip contained in that guide, I tried kingroot and the newest version of kingoroot and both got hung up at 90% or just didn't work at all.

Part of the steps you will be doing will be to unlock the bootloader, this is mandatory. If your CID starts with 15, you can change the CID of your device to that of a dev edition device, which can then have its bootloader unlocked. Like I said before, it's all laid out for you in the other thread.

Okay so I FLash the downgrade and then unlock the bootloader
,? Yes?
Hi all,
As usual I realized problems later then I made a purchase and own a SEA version of LG G4 815, after spending couple of days with the official unlock site I figured out few things and realized I can not unlock this phone by myself. Originally even the adb and fastboot were not working for me, finally I used minimal ADB and fastboot and manage to get the device ID but this time the LG said my phone is not suitable for unlocking.
So my question is how different are the official "unlock.bin" files are? Is there any way to analyze these files and see what is different for each device and possibly make custom bin files for the unfortunate devices. Possibly someone already thought about this and there is an obvious problem with it that I can not see but if it is possible to change the unlock.bin and customize it, I might still have a chance to unlock it.
Thanks in advance for all that can help.
I guess unblock.bin contains unique device identifiers such as IMEI. Encrypted.
It would take decrypting, replacing IMEI, and encrypting again. Using a private key we don't have.
That is probably why we dont have this around. Oh well I will wait for a while but already start thinking to sell this phone. Should have gone with the HTC
By the way cant we use the bin files with known IMEIs to figure out the encryption?
