Do you mean the "advanced reboot menu" ?
you can disable that in settings > developer options

I think he means the menu that pops up once you unlock the bootloader when you turn on the phone. You'd need a modified boot image that removes dm-verify (someone correct me if I'm wrong) which we don't have yet.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250 doesnt update to JB 4.3 [SOLVED]

Hello guys
Problem is as follows, i'm now seeing the OTA update for my GNexus i9250
when I go to About Device~System Update the phone recognizes the update and downloads it (140Mb approximately), then it asks me to restart to install update, which I do.
Now here's the thing, is that when i do that, i see a recovery screen (i'm sorry for my ignorance here but i've never seen this), and it asks me to pick an option, and install untrusted zip (update.zip), problem is it never installs the update that seems to be located in /sdcard/update.zip (or at least that's what the recovery screen says).
I have to reboot the phone, it works fine, nothing happened here, but I'm not sure what's going on here and wanted to ask to see if any of you has any idea why is it that it doesn't work.
If it helps, the phone is encrypted and has CWM Recovery.

I don't know what's wrong too. Either way, we need to know more to try and help you out. Did you do anything that might alter the system in any way? What ROM/Android version (settings > about > under build number) do you have? What radio (settings > about > under baseband) do you have?
By chance, are you able to get a photo of that screen? What's the other option? If there's one option.. there's normally more.
This information may be helpful

Yes look
When i Restart the phone, it loads in Recovery mode or something, then it gives me an option that says "install untrusted update.zip", so I choose that one, afterwards it says like "cannot mount /sdcard - - Installation aborted".
There are other options to mount /sdcard there as well, but that doesn't work, at all.
The phone is encrypted so I think that may be the reason, It is also Rooted and has an app called "SuperSU"...
I've tried using file managers to access /sdcard to see if there is such file (update.zip) and i can't see anything like that there.

TWRP tethered?? Is there a untethered out yet?

So I'm going to guess TWRP recovery is tethered ? because everytime I restart my phone the recovery disappears. Is there a permanent recovery yet?
Yes there is but if you're bootloader is locked you cannot install twrp permanently only till next boot

My bootloader is unlocked. How do I do a permanent twrp?
You should be reading through the different threads and all the information you need is right there, look in Zenfone 2 android development for the recovery untethered thread read through the 80 pages in the thread and all the information you need is right there.

ROOT on locked bootloader

Hi guys. I was wondering if it's possible to unlock bootloader, install twrp, root with magisk or supersu, flash stock recovery, then relock the bootloader.
I'm asking this because I have no intention of changing the stock rom but I want to have root just in case an app needs it. Also, when I startup the phone, there's that annoying message. Aaaaand I still want to banking apps and Android pay. Thank you!
Edit. Don't try this because it will brick your device. tried, confirmed, bricked.
Nope, won't work. Try locking bootloader with modified system and you'll end up with a brick.

If u try to lock bootloader back make sure to install stock recovery 1st

yep, you were right. after locking the bootloader, it gets in a bootloop, and restarts forever. luckily i was able to enter stock recovery and was able to flash 7.0 again. cheers
Back to your first post - you can have root with magisk and still pass safetynet (so banking apps etc will work), but the bootloader has to remain unlocked. Again, I can't go into details as I'm personally not using this, but I know that it works from what I'm reading on this forum.
You just can't get rid of that message on boot, otherwise having an unlocked bootloader is not really an issue.
Btw, even that message can be skipped by pressing the power button again, no need to wait 5 seconds.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
I have an unlocked bootloader and have magisk installed. SafetyNet passes with hide enable. I can confirm Android Pay works. My banking app works, but I'm sure which banking app you're using.
I too can confirm that when magisk is installed and safetynet can be passed, my banking apps work totally fine here in Germany

Magisk is fantastic, not only is it starting to open a new xposed like module repository, but being able to pass safety net and have root is awesome..

Q: Forgotten pattern

Hello all,

Been trying thru Device Manager but, I can only remotely lock (or erase) device, no way to reset PIn/Pattern.
I'm oin OPM1.
Any clue?
Thanks!

I don't have a C,but a number of other Google devices, so I'm going to assume the C is basically the same. The first thing I would try is to boot twrp so you might have a chance to save any data on the device. You'll do that using fastboot with the command fastboot boot twrp.img (twrp.img is the full file name of the twrp file you download). Twrp probably will ask you for the pass pattern but maybe it won't.
If that doesn't work then you'll need to flash the factory image with fastboot. You'll need your Google sign in information and you'll lose data.

Magisk way of rooting - how to get boot.img?

As some of you certainly know, Magisk manager has capability of rooting system.
The needed thing is kernel image, boot.img, very the same which seats in the device.
If the stock ROM was available to download then the kernel image would be possible to obtain by pulling it out from the ROM file (preferably zip).
So where to get the stock ROM file, please?

LGExtract.exe

I'm thinking about the LG tablet I had. No root for it so someone did the Magisk thing also. Tablet was easily unlocked allowing us to put the image in place.
For the Q7, once a boot image is modified how would you get it in place on a running ROM? Far as I know the device is still locked down.

Yes, it is locked. Unless there is a way to flash it the way you flash the kdz file, I think we are Sol.
I gave up on root on this device.

So doesn't LGextract.exe work, or what?
BTW. We're talking on ROOTing the device, not unlocking.
We can root it without unlocking, I've a Huawei tablet with MediaTek too and it has been rooted by KingoRoot without touching anything else.

LGextract.exe did not work for me. Even If the boot img could be modified, as @marcdw stated "how would you get it in place on a running ROM?"
Without unlocking the bootloader this is not possible.
Kingroot, kingoroot will not work on this device atm, I've tried every method possible that's why I gave up on root on this device.
Maybe some day it will but I doubt it.

I had this problem with my q7+ I bought in Brazil where I live, it did not have Norwegian language, and I'm Norwegian. So I had to use an app; custom locale. This app needs root, but I was able to give right permission using ADB, so now I have Norwegian language. (Or any language I want).

Sorry, not gonna kick a dead horse.
Even if the boot img could be modified with magisk, there still is no way to install to device without unlocked bootloader.
And have you refferred to this method ?
What do you think of these instructions:
https://www.techdroidtips.com/lg-q7-2018-unlock-bootloader/
especially this:
In conclusion, Android versions later than lollipop come with an option of OEM Unlock in the developer options. So, its quite easy to unlock the bootloader on any latest smartphone devices. And Still, some of the smartphones may not come with this option. Hence, in order to unlock the bootloader, you need to manually do it via PC.

Not on the list
However this list is extremely scarce. It seems something is wrong with it.
This is why wanted to try. The first obstacle is it is impossible to reboot into bootloader (which is needed to obtain device ID). When the command "adb reboot bootloader" is executed then the phone simply reboots into system again. (Attention: when "adb reboot recovery" is executed then it does Factory Reset!)
How to make it boot into bootloader? Is there any keys combination for it?
