[D855 - 32GB] TWRP Recovery won't boot - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning.
I installed the latest TWRP and then the Fulmics MM rom. Sadly, I now can't update, because TWRP won't boot, it gets stuck on that logo. I need to update this rom, a few apps are excruciatingly laggy ( eg Waze and Shazam )
What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help

Try reinstalling twrp with autorec.

Do not
Just use flashify to reflash the last twrp (since you already got it)

Using flashify to flash twrp gives boot certification error when trying to get to recovery sometimes :/

that is good, better than a hardbrick which may happen when using autorec on a non stock rom

What about using flashtool to revert to stock, rooting and using autorec?

This would work

But i'm sort of scared of Flash tool. It almost bricked a D802 I had, and all my computers run Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04...

So... i used flashify to downgrade to TWRP 2.8, and it booted fine. No boot certification errors. And the lags i mentioned are because MM has a decent App2SD... and i have a crappy Class 4 MicroSD... Oh well. Is there anything faster than Class 10?

Cards in generally are slowmo. Some manufacturers stopped using class and use xc1 like samsung and similiar

[Q] KDZ error! Can't flash back to stock! PAYPAL FOR SOLUTION

I have a US Cellular LG G3 also known as the LG US990.
I followed this root guide http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topic/7637-lg-g3-root-guide/ and successfully rooted and installed TWRP.
My goal was to unlock this phone for GSM use so I flashed CloudyG3 1.2 for LG G3 along with the boot.img and modem.img from the same guide I linked to earlier.
The unlock did not work and now I can not flash back to stock. I am using the US Cellular KDZ and following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089 however the LG Flash Tool always gives me upgrade error.
If anyone can help me return to stock, I can donate PayPal. Thanks!
Hi
Can you launch twrp?

Hi, really need a solution, am willing to pay for it. BUMP**
Be sure to use the appropriate kdz.
Go To this link
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Replace xxx by your emei
If it doesnt work, go On twrp, try To wipe everything : wipe, advanced, you select all except sdcard.
After that, try your tuto again

Okay, I wiped everything in TWRP except internal storage but when I connect my LG G3 to the computer in Download Mode the MTP driver will not install. I get the code 10 device cannot be stated error. I have tried a different computer and tried to download latest lg drivers but the problem persists.
if you can access twrp, why not download another ROM onto the SD Card manually then flash that... like Chupa chups rom?

The thing is none of those roms are compatible with the US990 US Cellular version of the LG G3 which is CDMA not GSM so i need a stock based ROM which will have the update prl and profile option.
I managed to find the proper KDZ but can't flash with LG Flash tool so I extracted it using this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666967 however when I try to merge the system bin I get this error:
Exception on findSystemBins cannot find system*.bin files / fail to create folder
count 0
Anyone know how I can combine these bin files so that I can flash with fastboot. I know that you can convert bin to img by just renaming the extension however trying to flash all 24 of them separately did not work so I need to combine them.
The problem seems to come from your Windows driver. Install this version and try again:
http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev?fileKey=UW00120120425
After that, if it doesn't work, try to find another computer and apply with it

I have been using that driver package already. I tried it on two other PCs but still no luck. Btw I appreciate your help.

I've found that:
Q. When I tried to follow the above method I get a "Can't change to download mode" error referencing "Error 00000064"
A. I experienced this several times when attempting to un-root using a USB 3.0 port. Connect the phone using a USB 2.0 port preferably connected directly to the computer - and make sure the phone is already in download mode. Occasional you may need to unplug the USB cable from your phone for a couple of seconds and reconnect to get the process started.

Tried your suggestions still no luck. Any other ideas? The phone won't boot any more to android only to lg logo and recovery and installing cloudyg3 fails now too.

Read 1 page back, it's like the first question..
Remove USB drivers and restart computer > Install USB drivers > Download your KDZ or TOT/DLL files for your phone > boot into bootloader > Use LGFlashTool2014 (for KDZ) or LGFlashTools (for TOT/DLL) to flash files onto your phone.
He may have lost the access.... The only reason I asked was because he could follow this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/psa-stop-taking-ota-updates-update-t2909412) to obtain the system images from stock KDZ to create his own flashable zips to flash back to stock... No longer needing his PC to fix the issue apart from for transferring the files to the device.

Hey the kdz always gives me an error and I extracted the system IMG boot IMG and modem IMG but when in try to copy system IMG to the storage it always ends up with a negative file size and doesnt work to flash. The other two work.

Try downloading a different KDZ the one you have may be corrupt.

TWRP tethered?? Is there a untethered out yet?

So I'm going to guess TWRP recovery is tethered ? because everytime I restart my phone the recovery disappears. Is there a permanent recovery yet?
Yes there is but if you're bootloader is locked you cannot install twrp permanently only till next boot

My bootloader is unlocked. How do I do a permanent twrp?
You should be reading through the different threads and all the information you need is right there, look in Zenfone 2 android development for the recovery untethered thread read through the 80 pages in the thread and all the information you need is right there.

Get rid of the ota update

Hello, I rooted my phone and there's in an OTA update that keeps asking me to update. Is there a way to get rid of it? What happens if I try to update?
You can't update normally. But you could try to use Flashfire to do the OTA

Could anyone confirm if flashfire would work?

I believe you can use the "Disable Service" app to freeze the update notification.
I did it once before but I'm sorry I don't recall each step.

How, it won't detect the OTA with me and the package is also not able to be found manually
Why not simply restore the stock recovery, let the OTA run normally and go back to the custom recovery after? SuperSU should be able to survive the OTA with its OTA survival mode and if not, simply reinstall via your custom recovery.

ROOT on locked bootloader

Hi guys. I was wondering if it's possible to unlock bootloader, install twrp, root with magisk or supersu, flash stock recovery, then relock the bootloader.
I'm asking this because I have no intention of changing the stock rom but I want to have root just in case an app needs it. Also, when I startup the phone, there's that annoying message. Aaaaand I still want to banking apps and Android pay. Thank you!
Edit. Don't try this because it will brick your device. tried, confirmed, bricked.
Nope, won't work. Try locking bootloader with modified system and you'll end up with a brick.

If u try to lock bootloader back make sure to install stock recovery 1st

Maybe, dunno for sure, I don't use magisk.
You may try if you want, just keep that unbrick tool handy.

yep, you were right. after locking the bootloader, it gets in a bootloop, and restarts forever. luckily i was able to enter stock recovery and was able to flash 7.0 again. cheers
Back to your first post - you can have root with magisk and still pass safetynet (so banking apps etc will work), but the bootloader has to remain unlocked. Again, I can't go into details as I'm personally not using this, but I know that it works from what I'm reading on this forum.
You just can't get rid of that message on boot, otherwise having an unlocked bootloader is not really an issue.
Btw, even that message can be skipped by pressing the power button again, no need to wait 5 seconds.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
I have an unlocked bootloader and have magisk installed. SafetyNet passes with hide enable. I can confirm Android Pay works. My banking app works, but I'm sure which banking app you're using.
I too can confirm that when magisk is installed and safetynet can be passed, my banking apps work totally fine here in Germany

Magisk is fantastic, not only is it starting to open a new xposed like module repository, but being able to pass safety net and have root is awesome..
