I have an s off unlocked phone. Any of you know if its possible to downgrade to an older update? The new us update is affecting my calls and signal so i need to go back.
Just run the old RUU exe and you'll be set.

Depends. If his handset is s-on he can't "just" run the old ruu. With s-on you can't downgrade the bootloader to a lower version.
So it's either doable with s-off or look for the OS via a backup and try to restore that and run it on the new firmware.

So in the meantime i reflashed twrp and recovery and restored a backup.
But in the conclusion all i want now is to revert to full stock (i have no backup of that). Can i do that with s-off and bootloader re-locked? the reason that i want to do that is to recieve further updates ota. The reason i did all this to my phone was because the 4g was working when it wanted (not only 4g but mobile data in general). Now i'm thinking of reversing to stock, maybe future updates will solve this or to send the phone back for waranty.
So i need to flash stock, can you guide me from this point to achieve that?
My current software is 1.95.401.3, the phone was unlocked but not developer edition.Cid is HTC__34.
Help me what to do next and i will do one by one until i succeed (sry for my bad english)
@pocutzz you need SuperCID. In download mode, connect phone to pc and open a command window on your computer, type out "fastboot oem writecid 11111111" (I advice you copy and paste this but without the quotation marks), and then you will gain SuperCID. With this, you will be able to install any firmware/RUU regardless of CID.
@ OP, if you want to downgrade, since you are S-OFF there is no need to relock bootloader. As long as your have SuperCID you can downgrade to any firmware just like that. Download RUU and run it.

if you RUU you should still be able to receive OTA afterwards but don't count on me for that one as I've never restored back to stock before. You can search for previous HTC 10 RUUs on google, I recommend not going too far back and just going on the update before the 1.95 one (1.90 I think). Not every version has an RUU so if you can't find an RUU you want, try and find an older version.

It should be fine, yes. Make sure you have SuperCID and remember that you do not have to relock your bootloader when running the RUU as you are already S-OFF

i re-locked before i run sunshine for s-off. i will try to do that in a few minutes
i have done superCID, but before i try to flas the ruu, wanted to ask you, after that what remains? like s-off,root,twrp,custom recovery?
Okey so i did the superCID, in download mode it shows me the 1111111 but on the phone when i run CID Getter still says HTC__034 (that is how it suppose to show?), i copied from here like you said.Downloaded the ruu.exe from htc website, and when it runs it resets my phone to download mode, the bar goes instantly to 100% and the ruu installer says the 155 error, incorect version i think.
What do i do next?
Maybe MID problem?i've read something about it for HTC M8 i have mid 2PS620000. Maybe the ruu.exe on htc website is for US and i need EU?
Later edit: So i put the global variant with .401. in the sd card and it started to flash, i will se what is what...

S-OFF will never be wiped, if you have relocked then it will remain relocked state. Everything else is wiped and restored to stock including recovery, system, data, Internal Storage MIGHT BE WIPED I am not so sure.
if it shows SuperCID in download mode it should be fine. All you needed to do to get it was to execute that command line I posted before.

I have a HTC one m8. Right now it has s-off with cid 11111111 My carrier is wind mobile the original cid is GLOBA001.
I can't find a RUU that matches my original CID. I want to go back to stock htc sense. When I got the phone it was rooted and modded. I've tried installing an At&t RUU but every time I open the RUU it goes to the installshield, I click next and then it closes. I have the htc usb drivers and I ran it as administrator.
Can someone tell me how to return this phone back to a stock rom? If someone could please help me get this back to normal I would really appreciate it.

If you want to go to stock it has nothing to do with supercid.Since you have an supercid device your phones mid should match with the mid of the ruu which you are flashing. The best way is that change your mid to WWE version and flash WWE stock rom and its ruu. This will take you to the stock rom and also you will regain your warranty. This will make your phone that it came from the factory itself. You can follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735235

Do NOT go s-on after achieving S-OFF. You have the possibility of a lot of bad things happening, including having phone that won't boot with a security warning. There is a thread on it somewhere. Scotty1223 wrote it. Leave it S-OFF. If you have a backup up of stock. I would restore that, in the development section there will be a guide to get rid the tampered flag. Then flash stock recovery. After than you "should" don't quote me on that. Should have an unlocked bootloader stock recovery and S-OFF. Then, change your "unlocked" banner to "locked" not relocked. "Locked" there is another thread somewhere, written by Scotty1223. I'm on mobile so it's kinda hard to find these threads and post it. If you can't find them, next time I'm on my computer, I can post the websites.

If I change folder back up name to his device ID ? Since both the phones are the same. So it might make camera work. Yes it would work once your mid and his mid are the same, a full ruu would fix any problem rather than a back up it could be something mess up in the hboot are other part of the phone causing the issue, thats why i advice using a full ruu but you can try that way first.

No, no, no and no.
1) No, you don't need to change from SuperCID to run (any) RUU. SuperCID is called "super" for a reason. It will pass CID check for any CID, essentially bypassing CID check.
2) No, you don't need to revert to stock recovery to run RUU. This is only required when installing stock OTA, so folks often get the 2 confused.
3) S-off won't cause an issue with RUU. In fact, it makes it easier as it removes the requirement to relock the bootloader in order to run the RUU (required if s-on).
4) No, RUU will not return you to s-on. Nothing will, except making it s-on manually yourself.

Since you are s-off, no need to relock the bootloader. And I recommend to leave it unlocked. Having it unlocked won't affect anything (prevent anything from flashing), while relocking it will prevent anything unsigned from flashing until you relock it. So for the most part, there is no benefit to relocking as long as you are s-off.

That's nice, but you need to be S-Off to do certain things, like manually flashing firmware without reverting to stock, or using firmware meant for carriers other than yours when they update before your carrier.
There are other advantages as well, but these are the ones that S-Off is most used for.

"WTF what are you doing" indeed. Rumrunner never worked for this phone. It was for the M7. Firewater (related, but different from rumrunner) was for earlier M8 versions. It was an online service, and will no longer work now that the dev has stopped supporting it (so don't even bother asking).
For many variants, s-off is not needed to update firmware (as long as Lollipop has been released for your variant). You can just return to stock ROM and stock recovery, and OTA to Lollipop in order to update your firmware.

There are different stock ROMs for different CIDs. Plus, if you have no WiFi, and extreme long boot times, its due to your firmware not being supported by the ROM. You need to find the stock ROM for your current firmware and CID. Then you also need to flash the corresponding stock recovery. After that, you can OTA to the latest firmware.
What is your CID, hboot number, and radio number?

Not only is that make a difference, it makes it easy to update your firmware. Just relock the bootloader and run the new Lollipop RUU: http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_M8[email protected]50319A_40.45.C33065.00_F_release_426617_signed_2.exe

1) To lock bootloader: Connect phone to PC (PC required for RUU). Boot phone into bootloader-fastboot mode. Open command prompt on computer, and type command: fastboot oem lock
2) Download RUU onto PC. With phone connected, run the RUU exectuble program on the PC and follow the instructions given.
3) Done, drink beer
A little more detail is given here under "Manual system update instructions": http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8-att/news/
But seriously, the RUU is a self-explanatory program. It will tell you to confirm a couple dialogue boxes. But aside from that, the program will install a completely clean factory Lollipop software image.
Option Step) Unlock the bootloader again via HTCDev.com, then flash TWRP if you want to root or flash a custom ROM.

You can try it. It certainly doesn't hurts, as it only takes a single fastboot command, and would be faster than going through the whole HTCDev.com process (although that really doesn't take that much time, either).
I know using the same token has worked on past HTC devices. But I haven't seen much (if any) success on the M8. Most (or all?) folks have had to get a new token in order to unlock.

Yes, whatever AT&T apps are present on the stock Lollipop AT&T image will be on your phone. Simply root and delete/freeze, or install a custom ROM to be rid of the AT&T bloat.

You mean the removable SD? It should be safe. But you can always take it out before RUU to be sure it doesn't get touched by RUU.
Any other data on the phone (including the "virtual SD" AKA internal storage) should be backed up, if you want to keep it. Internal storage "might" be okay, but I'd back up anything you want to keep, just in case.

After installing this RUU I will have original At&t rom and unroot, relocked bootloader phone. and it will be 5.0.1 lollipop. Am I right? and so firmware will be upgraded tho? That means I can Unlock it, root it and install that android revolution HD rom without having problems.

Yes, yes, and yes.
The only thing above that isn't completely correct, if that after you unlock the bootloader again, just install custom recovery and flash ARHD. No need to root before flashing a custom ROM. Installing a ROM wipes whatever you did with root anyway, and custom ROMs are always pre-rooted. So rooting manually is an unnecessary step. You only need to root "manually" if you are keeping the stock ROM.
Im trying to unbrand my M9. Ive followed the steps, have read the Back up and write only posts on XDA.
Ive only unlocked the bootloader so far through HTCDev, but when I come to flash TWRP, it says
"cannot write revovery in S-ON state", but I thought I had to Flash recvoery first, then S-Off
Im using twrp 2870=hima with SuperSU 2.49BETA.
Like I say, Ive only unlocked bootloader, nothing else.. phone is running fine
Any help please
Flash recovery in download mode rather than bootloader and it should work fine

maybe you should try a different guide. Sounds like that one was maybe written for the M9?
Ok so now my M9 boots up to desktop then keeps rebooting after i changed the CID to 001.
I can boot into recovery and twrp, but keeps rebooting
SORTED:
If this happens to you, do not panic... its not bricked or broken, My M9 had a CID: ORANG001, but when I changed it to HTC__001, it was bootlooping. According to the folks at sunshine live chat, this can happen when a carrier apps interferes with the particular CID... so just change it back to the original carrier cid.. and it works fine.... then try a different CID, or remove app from system through root.. but be careful of this..
cheers
Set it to supercid 'fastboot oem writecid 11111111' and you will be good to go.

I thought supercid stopped it from taking OTAs, besides if its an EE app causing it bootloop from the M9 desktop, will 401.8 not replace the ROM. therefore just set USB debugging, change CID in download mode, then just flash 401 from recovery without bothering with the bootloop.
Thanks
Supercid allows you to use any rom from any network and shouldn't stop otas.

I've been having a hell of a time trying to unroot my HTC One M8... It was an AT&T one I converted to Skydragon GPE, S-off. All the resources I try to use keep on failing somehow—anyone have suggestions? There's a million different tutorials on how to do it and none of them seem to work for me, getting really frustrated...
(I would link the below guides I've been trying to follow but I'm too new a user so it won't let me):
- The Unlockr guide: The Hassoon toolkit no longer exists.
- DroidViews guide: Everything's good until I try to restore the RUU image, then the executable fails with no explanation. Same when flashing the RUU from HTC's website.
- Restoring from a Nandroid backup in TWRP: Also never makes it through the entire process, I'd have to rerun it to see what the particular error was.
Ughhh is there any definitive set of steps I can take to actually restore to default settings? Preferably with the tampered flags not tripped, but honestly I don't even care at this point... Do I need to flash some stock AT&T HTC One M8 firmware or something before doing this all? Where might I be going wrong? I know it's vague but I'd love a solid walkthrough.
Thanks everyone
The simplest way would be to get an RUU from htc.com for AT&T, putting your phone in fastboot mode (power off, then pressing power+volume down, and selecting "fastboot"), and then simply launching the ruu. It should restore your phone to nearly being stock, except for your CID number and s-off. There are tutorials on how to change your cidnumber, however i am not sure how to turn s-off back to s-on.

Ok, firstly, you might check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523
None of the instructions require the use of anything beyond fastboot/adb. Also, make sure you put your CID/MID back if you changed them to run GPE. That isn't required to run Skydragon, but if you have altered them, put them back. Then rerun the RUU. Finally, since you are S-off, you can trivially fix any flags, so don't worry about that. (Running the RUU successfully will clear the modified flag anyway)

So I did this, starting from the Skydragon Sense 7 ROM:
made nandroid backup
flash 1.54.401.5 firmware
set cid to CWS__001
run RUU for the latest AT&T one. It says it will update from 1.54.401.5 to 2.6.502.16.
Result? Error 155 "Unknown Error", no other information.
Any ideas?

Did you actually "fully convert" to GPE, or just flash Skydragon GPE?
What color is your hboot screen?
What hboot number, radio number?

The toolkit still exists. But it hasn't been updated in a very long time, and will therefore cause many many issues. So don't use the toolkit!

Don't know what guide that is, or what RUU it tells you to use; but be aware that there are many RUU versions for the M8, and the RUU needs to be the proper one for your CID and MID. Also, Win7 or 8.1 is recommended (Win8 and especially Win10 will cause the RUU to fail).

hboot screen is white. hboot number is 3.19.0.0000. radio number is [email protected] I was using windows 8.1, though the computer I was using only has USB 3.0 ports (Apparently people say 2.0 is better?)
This is on the firmware that I was using for Skydragon, I can reflash the other firmware I had used for the failed RUU upgrade if that would be useful.

I'd leave it alone, and just try running the RUU.

Yes, folks have reported issues with RUU and USB 3.0. You can always try, the worst that will happen is the PC won't be able to talk to the phone.
Another user mentioned you can "disable" USB 3.0 in settings, but I'm not familiar with that.

OK, I've tried doing it on a computer that has USB 2.0 ports and once again, no go.
Trying to run the Developer/Unlocked RUU on HTC's website, it's stuck forever at 0/7 sending.
Trying to run the AT&T one, it errors out with a 155: Unknown Error message as soon as it boots to RUU mode.
Any other thoughts?

I think this means you need to relock your bootloader (required to RUU with s-on).
