Barebones ROM search - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I've been in search of a barebones ROM. Which has no extra features, no gapps and no bloat ware. It must also be at least Marshmallow too.

Best clean rom?

Hello,
Its a long time ago that i rooted and put a custom rom on a android phone
Now i have a question.
What is the best custom clean Google experience rom, with a good battery life?
Greetzzz
What is your device that you are looking a ROM for?
The lg g3 d855 with the 3gb ram version.
The most i want vanilla Google
If you want a vanilla google experience then I would recommend Cyanogenmod or Mokee. These are probably as cm/aosp (I am pretty sure Mokee is cm based but don't take my word for it) based as you can get. You could also flash Paranoid Android 5.1.1 but the devs unfortunately have gone to work on oxygen OS.
If you want an aosp based rom with tweaks (Layers support): At the moment I would probably recommend XenonHD (in my opinion one of the smoothest roms and good battery life (for me anyway)). If you want nova launcher pre-installed I would recommend BrokenOS.
If you want a cm based rom (with tweaks) (CMTE support): Well I am running RR (Resurrection Remix) at the moment and I am loving it. I'm not sure if I am allowed, but if you want nova launcher pre-installed then I would recommend cyanide L.
I am assuming you know who cyanogenmod are. If not, I don't want to say anything that will get me flamed to oblivion by the community but they essentially make roms extremely close to google aosp.
Haha yes i know what cyanogenmod is
4 years ago i built my own custom rom but since then i stopped with developing anything for Android (bussy at my college).
Only functions i dont wanna lose is laser focus, 4k filming, knock on, and quick circle because i have a quick cover.
Then, the only possible rom that I think that you can flash without losing laser focus, 4k filming, knock on, and quick circle is novastock aosp styled. If you want quick circle you can install the quick circle theme app. I am pretty sure that you can flash a custom camera for 4k filming.
You will lose knock on. And for laser focus you will lose if you flash anything other than stock (I am pretty sure).
If you want a vanilla google experience you should flash one of the ROMs I suggested. But if you want to keep all those features the closest ROM that I can recommend is novastock 1.1 aosp styled.
Ah okay, thats the problem for me to put a custom rom on my phone, because i wanna use these functions.
Then your best bet would be novastock 1.1 aosp. It has all the functions and the devs try to make it as close to aosp as possible

And cloudyg3?
Cloudyg3 is a stock based ROM but will look like LG and feel like stock. With novastock it's themed to look like aosp. Also, cloudy has been stopped being developed

Ah okay yeah i dont want a stock rom with a themed aosp over it, i rather then have the stock rom.
Haha i just will start first rooting my phone and then look futher tnx for your help!
No problem

Now keep in mind with stock or in my case cloudy i use exposed modules and it is almost completly themeable i download keyboard themes from lg smartword but i love it all the themeing i need on mine is done througb exposed

Is CM the most stable ROM in general? Will it update itself?

Hello - I just flashed CM13 on my nexus 5x. It's working quite well, but I'm wondering two things:
1) when there are Android OTA updates, will I get them? Will I have to reflash a newer build of CM?
2) Is CM regarded as one of, if not the most stable, developed ROM in general? I realize that may be a bit of an opinionated question, but I'll take the chance that it's not, and that it has a fairly clear answer.
Thanks!
First of all, this thread belongs to Q/A section. Not Android Development section.
Secondly, CM has an updater app, that downloads latest nightlies upon ur choice and you can
move them from data partition to internal storage. Then boot to recovery and dirty flash them.
Unless there are huge changes from one nightly to another, you can just dirty flash (no wipes).
If u are using any addons, like gapps, kernels etc, you have to flash them again, after new cm build.
As for stability, you have to flash the rom , use it and decide for yourself.
A quick search could have been usefull. Have a look at this thread ..

Hope this helps.
And please request moderator to move this thread to q/a section. cheers.
Wrong section. This should go in Q&A.
1. You will not get official OTAs. CM releases their own updates.
2. In my experience CM based ROMs for the 5X have been buggy compared to stock and AOSP based ROMs.

I also would not recommend CM at this point in time. It runs like crap compared to stock or AOSP based ROMs for me. I gave it a fair shake and ran it for a couple weeks, but since flashing to Pure Nexus last week I've noticed a huge difference in how my device performs.

Back to stock baby. Sorry for putting this in the wrong category by the way. I'm not really a power user, I just figured flashing CM would improve the performance of my phone. I love incredible performance in a phone, computer, or whatever. But, ultimately, I just ran this dog back to stock using instructions I found here!
Thanks all. I appreciate the input!
stock is great, but I'd have to say my favorite rom has been PureNexus, since it's stock stable but with added features.
this compared to CM, OxygenOS, and stock Android M

Zenfone 2 - Best Custom Rom?

Hello Team,
I do have a Zenfone2 Z00AD, 2GB Ram, and 16GB internal memory.
I kinda seem to find it slow, with the apps and games I have installed in it, it is currently in official firmware.
I am planning to install custom firmware in it, can you guys give me some advice in which custom rom is so far the best that you have tried for zf2?
What I am looking for a custom rom to address for my zf2 are th following:
rooted by default
ready for xposed (if possible)
not power hungry (battery friendly)
debloated (most stock/unnecessary apps removed)
themable (optional)
fast/smooth system/UI
Will have long term support/update (incase if the marshmallow android version will already be officially available for zf2)
So far, what I have in mind are echozen (echoe rom?) and slimp.
Any other suggestion guys will be highly appreciated.
Thank you!
each person have different opinion about what's the best custom rom, i have tried CM 12.1 , Cm 13, RR Remix, the last i try is AICP Rom and since then i stick with this Rom until now, more or less AICP Rom is the most suitable custom rom for my need, to know which Rom you need the most, you should try them, but don't expect too much (looking for perfectness rom) because each rom have plus and minus. to answer your questions in AICP Rom that i use:
rooted by default yes
ready for xposed (if possible) i know nothing about xposed and don't really care either
not power hungry (battery friendly) yes
debloated (most stock/unnecessary apps removed) yes
themable (optional) yes
fast/smooth system/UI yes
Will have long term support/update (incase if the marshmallow android version will already be officially available for zf2) until now the developer always give an update

Is there any custom rom for the galaxy s6 sprint?

Hello, Greetings to all I hope they are fine, I was wondering if there is any custom ROM for my Galaxy S6 Sprint (SM-G920P) (Zerofltespr) a rom that is pure android like lineage os and Resurrection Remix, the problem Is that only I find roms stock modified and I need one with pure android, if ne can help I would appreciate it.
No such ROM at this time, probably not going to be one.
Why? Difficult, close to impossible, to create one for this processor.
I use the Biggdaddy ROM and am quite happy with it.
Yea, I'd have to go with Koop on this one. I had settled with the Bigdaddy rom myself and really liked it! And coupled with the SkyHigh kernel it's been super awesome! I highly recommend it if you're staying with Marshmallow. I'm prepping for the move to Nougat myself now that there's a SkyHigh kernel for it also. Now I have done a little experimenting also. I was able to get some of the other custom roms from the other variants to work but only after I flashed a Sprint kernel afterwards but there were a few minor quirks that I cannot recall at this time. Might be worth the time to play around but be careful and keep a Nandroid backup handy if you can!

But... is Lineage OS faster than stock 8.1.0 ?
The main issue is that this device has only 2 GB of RAM... so if Lineage OS takes less, that would be amazing! (maybe you can post a screenshot of the average memory usage?)
I prefer ABC, since I stepped over from stock 1y ago. Pure AOSP +some usefull extra's, no bugs, fast. Latest build. But:
1. best-ROM-threads are unwanted here, because everyone has his own best ROM. Use search function and read earlier threads.
2. Bullhead has BLOD-problem and BLOD is hot up by CPU. So don't prioritize speed.
None, stock 7.1.2
Best one so far

Yes, but it's not updated
In my opinion Slim Rom 6.0.1 is the best ROM you can get for this phone. It is the fastest, quickest, and most reliable.
I personally went back to stock ROM after Pure Nexus stopped updates. For my basic use, stock runs fine, updates regularly (just updated to 9/5 update), and has been totally reliable. But it's not my main phone, so I don't want to spend time screwing around with it.
