Hello everyone,
I purchased an Aukey quickcharge 2.0 from Amazon. I was really exited to receive it hoping it was true that it would charge my M8 40% faster.
Well, to my luck it didn't charge any faster than my OEM 5v 1.67 amp charger (I think it is 1.67)
It took around 2 hours to get my phone fully charged with the Aukey which is really dissapoiting since my OEM does it around the same time.
I contacted Aukey and they sent me another charger and this one did the same thing. I do have an OEM usb and I did try a USB that came with a 2 amp charger and still my mA are not even close to 2000mA.
I tried different roms, and kernels and still no luck.
Right now I'm back on stock 5.0.1 with stock kernel and still no luck.
I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same issue with an Aukey charger or any other quickcharge 2.0 charger.
Has anyone had this happened and fixed it?

Someone know, is this a good combination / is this working?

I have an Aukey QuickCharge 2.0 wall plug. When using a USB cable it appears to charge quicker than when using a magnetic cable (after market). The USB cable is higher gauge than the magnetic cable so that could be why. However, I do not think QuickCharge works on the magnetic connector. That being said the Aukey QuickCharge 2.0 does have a higher current and can charge non QuickCharge devices faster than the regular adapter. So I think you will notice it charge faster using the Aukey QuickCharge adapter and the magnetic cable versus a regular adapter, but not as fast as using a USB cable with the Aukey QuickCharge adapter.

yes, works very well for me. I use the same and it goes from under 10% to over 50% in 40 minutes. I slows down a bit after that, and the closer to 100% it gets the slower the charge.
You should be able to get from 0% to 100% in a little over two hours. The reason I bought a Q 2.0 charger is that it negotiates with the phone to get the best rate of charge, so even though it's super fast charging, the phone doesn't even get warm. It worries me when I plug my phone in somewhere I I feel it getting hot, it can't be good for the battery.
I recently bought a Quick Charge 2.0 adapter and can tell you that it made no difference to my charging times. Whether it's the standard charger that came with the Z3C, the Quick Charge 2.0 adapter, usb charging, or magnetic charger, my phone charges at about 1% per minute with any of those combinations.
Supposedly QC2.0 can charge up to 60% in 30 mins, or 2% per minute, i.e. twice as fast as a regular charger, but I didn't get close to that. I had a friend test my QC2.0 adapter on his LG G4 and it charged from 0 to 75% in 30 mins, so I'm guessing QC2.0 isn't active or doesn't work on the Z3C, at least on mine anyway.

With the magnetic does not exactly work.
I thought that for Quickcharge the data lines of the USB cable have to be used, because the CPU needs to communicate with the power supply for switching to QC 2.0. Right or wrong?!
And the magnetic cable doesn't provide any data lines
i just replace my z3 compact battery it turns on but won't charge... how i can made the unit charge again please help... the battery is ok...
I ask this since it seems more feasible than enabling something like Quick Charge 3/2.X since this method is open and not proprietary.
It also seems feasible since the OnePlus 3 can clearly handle up to 4A of current at 5V (dash charge) so in terms of hardware it should be able to handle 3A at 5V similarly to the Nexus 5X/6P via the standard USB-C spec.
It doesn't even seem to be able to handle 2.4A via a USB-A to USB-C cable, or even via a USB-C charger using a USB-C cable.
Is there some hardware or software limitation I'm perhaps missing? If it's a USB-C device it should be able to charge via the USB-C standard
To my knowledge one plus promised dash source by the end of July. Also to my knowledge is something must be enabled and PCB hardware must enable fast charging. Galaxy s7 doesn't have qc3.0 despite having the correct hardware.

i do understand something needs to be enabled for QC2/3.X but why for USB-C?
Short answer ... no one knows and they're talking out of their ass ...
Long answer - Even if its a hardware/software enabled type feature - most do not know how to program it well enough to incorporate it. So everyone has to rely on source code with it already programmed to include it with any rom. Some guys can program it but dont have the resources and/or phone to do so. The average programmer reading your comments doesnt know specifics which is why you get a lot of "to my knowledge" "as far as I know" "in theory" type statements

Quickcharge is closed and proprietary, it's just the licensing is cheap. It only work on phone that have recent qualcomm SoC. Yes our OP3 have a SD820 but the manufacturer also have to implement it in the phone, with software but also hardware.
It's a shame that Oneplus didn't use Quickcharge because with the price of one Dash Charger or VOOC charger you can buy a 6 port quickcharge 3.0 charger... And quickcharge can use standard cable (if you use another usb C cable than the one provided, the red and blue one, dash charge don't work even with the dash charger)
So I'll tell you one reason why the Oneplus 3 won't support quickcharge even with some hack : charging a lithium battery at a high voltage make it go BOOM!
Quickcharge use 9, 12 or even 20V to make charge faster (and it's an advantage with low quality usb cable). So the phone have to be able to convert 9 or 12V down to 4.2V and it's a hardware matter.
Now for the 5V/3A of the USB-C spec, it's Oneplus that limit it (and it's safer that way). I tested many charger with a voltmeter. I used some charger from 1.8A to 2.4A and it only draw 1.5A. I used a genuine apple charger at 1A (the A1400) and it only draw 0.5A, the same when it's hooked on a computer. With the dash charger and the dash cable, it go up to 3.5A. It's not 4A but it charge pretty fast. With the same charger but with a normal USB-C cable (2.0 and 3.1 i tried) it draw 1.5A.
So the dash cable use some extra pin to make the phone identifying the dash charger and the dash cable, when one is missing, it charges at 1.5A or even 0.5A.
Why Oneplus don't use the full 3A of the USB-C spec? Dash charge/VOOC I guess.

If it's "unsafe" then why would Google use in the Nexus line? If anything, all of the quick charge out of spec systems (like dash charge or quick charge) are "unsafe"

charging slower is safer than charging at high voltage or intensity, I didn't imply anything else.
If the charger provided can do 5V 3A like the one provided with the Nexus 6P can actually charge at 3A a Oneplus 3, how can you sell a dash charger with a dash cable that do 3.5A (and the VOOC charger that is even more expensive and need a micro usb to USB-C adapter)

Easily? Dash charge is far more quick not to mention heat efficient
Also, slower charging is not safer by default -it's less hot charging that is safer more so,
Dash charge is heat efficient? Yes it will be warmer on a cold day. Like any battery charging slower is better for the battery life.

If you are talking about the efficiency between the power on input and output from the charger, I think that the power is not high enough to really make a difference with a standard charger.
I am still a big fan of Qualcomm quick charge because I could use a 3 meter (10ft maybe) usb cable not even made of thick gauge.

I think what he is getting at is during quick charge the higher voltage results in more heat in the phone, with dash charge the heat is contained in the charger. Thus phone stays cool during charge which is safer for the phone.

Our charger is a basic 12V 2A charger, giving a total of 24W Power. I don't see anything special in the charger. It's probably not the usual QC we had heard of. I have seen in some reviews though about this charging technology being different and very interesting.
A problem would be: what charger for the car???
i have the phone and i can confirm it only uses the QC feature with the included CHARGER
no way to use any qc 2/3.0 charger....mmhhh bad decision lenovo!

I don't see your point. This charger outperforms any other chargers in the market even turbo and dash chargers.
Why do you ppl always end up blaming others.
because i am against the proprietary charging algorithms..... dash charge is great? NOPE.... it forces you to use a special cable, a special charger, no 3rd part suppliers... high price of chargers, is it a good move for the customer?
same thing for this lenovo charging solution, ok the fastest one, but if i lose che official charger i am stucked with the NORMAL 5v 2a solution....
this is not a great thing imho, and all power banks i have qith 7/9/12v qc features are USELESS with the lenovo p2......
You're thinking only voltage my friend, check if your power bank can supply 2A at 12V. Probably no. Mostly all power banks bottlenecks at 1.5A.

my xiaomi power bank 2 20000mah does have qc3.0 and it's tested to arrive higher than 2A at 12v ... but even if other chargers are "only" capable to reach 12v at 1,5A ... it is still a missed quick charge because p2 uses proprietary charge coding
ok this is not THEp roblem, but just a con. like for dash charge people repeat at eveyone that oneplus is the fastes... but hey without an available dach charge power bank... that phone is s "joke"

No, the phone will just draw what is capable of. You can get a 100W PD charger and if the phone supports PD, it will charge at the maximum that i can (which will be way lower than 100W) If is no PD compatible, probably will fall down to other standards that both the phone and the charger are capable of, like QC3 or if they don't, to the good ol' ""5V 2A""
There's no problem if you use higher wattage type C chargers. You're just overspending on something your phone can't fully utilize. Your phone would still just ask what it's programmed for charging and the charger just provides power to satisfy, given that it could.
