As the title says anyone tried it? I know Nexus 5 doesn't have QC2.0 but still does it work?
Apparently not, while the n5 has a sd800 which supports qc2.0 it uses a ti charging chipset or something, anyhoo if you use a 2amp charger it'll charge the phone in 70 minutes anyway.
Faux kernel charging drivers allow up to 2 amp input with the kernel and the app.
Charging chip allows up to 3AMP and 9V, but probably other circriitry can't handle that
I tried it. Got it from Amazon, the Aukey (EU) charger.
So far, been using it with a new usb cable for almost(!) a month. Satisfied.

Fast charging compatible accessories are on the way. I've Tweeted to both Anker and Aukey and they confirmed they're in the works.
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S5.
I ordered an Anker 5V/2.4A charger to try. It'll be the one I leave at work, as long as it works at all. I'll report on it after my phone comes in Thursday.
Aukey 10000mah quick charge doesn't do anything but all my anker batteries are reporting "rapidly charging".
Aukey 54w 5 port also reports rapidly charging on all five ports including the qc one?
Edit the aukey does charge and reports rapidly charging too
So it seems everything i own is rapidly charging it? I'm more confused than anything else
Hi guys, the Zenfone 3 deluxe supports qualcom quick charge 3.0 however it seems to be locked to the oem charger. Any other licenced qc 3.0 charger does not quick charge the phone. How hard would it be to get around this? Mainly for qc 3.0 powerbanks.

This is not true. I am using this one - https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01EH11AS8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and the quick charge 3.0 works fine. I am still using the original type-c cable that came with the phone though.
Note: Make sure that you have plugged in the USB end of the charger correctly, push it all the way in. If it's only pushed in partially, then you may not be getting the full power for Quick Charge. You can verify this by using a tool like AIDA64 from the playstore and checking the "Charge Rate" under battery.
This is where I was told it's not supported.

Update: Sorry guys, I realized that the OEM charger is indeed much faster at charging. Read posts below.
postimg.org/image/6wis1rux1/ - using licenced qc3.0 charger
postimg.org/image/ndr13s0pv/ - using oem charger.
Further test screen off
15min charge with licenced qc3.0 gives 13%
15min charge with oem charger gives 27%
Same test with screen on (playing video)
15mins with either charger yields about 15%, no noticible difference. Seems like the oem charger throttles when screen is on.
All tests are run when the battery is below 20%.
Same oem cable used for all tests.
Using the oem charger to fully charge my phone does it nearly twice as fast as the qc3.0 charger.
Don't know how your able to achieve the same speed regardless of charger
Hi guys, I've been experiencing the same problem with original charger, that's very big and it's seems that didn't have quick charge. I've a samsung charger and with samsung charger it wroks fine. I'll try to well plug thw original , but, it's thinner samssung's one.

Interesting ... I stand corrected now regarding the "Fast Charging" on the lock screen.
I never used the original charger because I bought mine directly from Taiwan which has an US plug which I cannot use here in Germany directly without an extension.
I tried the OEM charger now with an adapter and yes you are right, the Charge Rate with the OEM charger is 2 times faster than with other chargrers.
OEM charger - 2900ma charge rate
Other charger - 1300ma charge rate
---------- Post added at 11:29 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 AM ----------
Actually now I'm confused. When I plugged in the OEM charger, it said "Fast Charging" for a short while and then it says "Charging". The Charge rate also came down from 3000ma to 1300ma and down to 800ma when the battery is at 90%.
I will do some proper tests with the different chargers and post back.
Confirmed: OEM charger is much faster than other QC 3.0 chargers
When the phone reaches 70-80%, the charging rate will slow down and just trickle charge. This is normal as it can be dangerous to keep charging at Fast speeds when the battery is close to full capacity. So if your phone has 80% and you put it on charge, it will not Fast charge regardless of the charger you use.

I can also confirm fast charging doesn't work with my QC 2.0 charger. Interesting thing to note is it outputs 5V - 2A and 9V -2A. My guess is this charger from Asus that fast charges the Zenfone 2 would work on our phones because it has the same outputs if you read the description. It's worth a shot and you could always return it to Amazon if it doesn't work.

It would be nice to remove the red light when the phone is charging. Maybe it's something that can only be removed after rooting?

Unfortunately, even though the charger referenced above has the same outputs it doesn't fast charge. Seems you can only fast charge with the included charger. At least we can use our own charging cable. If anyone gets another charger to fast charge the device let us know. It doesn't appear Asus sells the included charger on it's webpage yet.
Not allowing the standard quickcharge charger to work forces people to once again purchase / replace current QC chargers.
One tick to the CONs side of the evaluation.

At this moment, I don't really think it's a CON side...
The quality of all those QC2.x/3.x charger are not even today (may get better in future, however I really doubt those cheap, knock-off charger from China). Some are good, some are outright bad. QC is quite sensitive with the voltage/current delivered by the charger (it's by design of QC, I believe) and not optimum voltage/current will shorten the battery life at best, create danger at worst scenario.
LiPo battery is really not designed to be charged in high speed. The associated temperature issues needs to be check very carefully and charge current needs to be controlled strictly to avoid dangerous thermal runaway. It cannot only be done by phone itself and need co-work from adaptor (switching voltage, for instance.) Thus an adaptor which have good communication with phone is a safety requirement as far as QC is concerned.
Same with me. I bought a wall charger aukey PA-16 and a car charger Aukey CC-T8. Using the ampere APP, The original zenfone charger gets 2800 mAh. And the aukey chargers up to 1300 mAh.
K6 charger also does not enable Quick Charge function on 570KL
Input type: 100-240V 50-60Hz 0.5A - Quick charge 3.0 output: 3.6V-6.5V-3A/6.5V-9V-2A/9V-12V-1.5A - Power: 18W
I am wondering if someone achieved any solution to remove OEM charger lock to use fast charge with third party Qualcomm Certified Chargers/Power Banks?
Sorry to resume this thread but i lost my oem charger and id like to get one that works with the zenfone 3 deluxe and quickcharge. Can anyone post a link where i can buy it or maybe the model number of the charger? The EU version would be nice.
Thanks
Any solution to the original question?

ASUS locked the fast charge function to the OEM QC 2.0 charger that comes with the phone (it will NOT work even with other ASUS QC 2.0 - or 3.0 - chargers, only with the specific type/"model" that came with the phone). Therefore we don't get QC3.0 - as advertised - at all. The QC3.0 compatibility with 3rd party chargers, powerbanks and car chargers was disabled with one of the updates, I think it was the Android 7.0 Update (that replaced Android 6.0) that removed QC3 compatibility. So... any ideas how to re-enable the QC 3.0 functionality?
Quick charge was disabled for other chargers from day one. I'm still on marshmallow (Android 6.0) and only the charger that came with the phone works with quick charge.
I've had a nexus 5x before and own a pixel table. Both come with USB C port to charge. So i bought a itian qc3.0 charger at that time. (http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_389793.html)
Now i changed to the lg g6, but it refused to do the 'fast charging ' when i use that chargers qc3.0 port and even says 'slow charging' when connecting to the usb c output.
Is it the combination that's just flakey or did they put something specific in the original charger that comes with the lg g6?
I'm bit lost on the topic of chargers currently, anyone care to enlighten me on what should could would work?
Lg g6 is picky I think

Works fine with my wife's charger from her Galaxy Note 4 as well. ? (Pretty sure that's a QC 2.0 charger as well.)
Does LG not provide a qc 3.0 charger with their own phone ??
Mine came with a MCS-H06UR charger.
Rated @ 9.0V 1.8A / 5.0V 1.8A
After a quick Google search I've had no luck ascertaining if this is QC 2.0 or QC 3.0.
From what I can tell, my phone charges as fast if not faster using the 5V/3A charger that came with my 6P.
From what I've read online, the LG G6 also supports USB-PD.

Shouldn't really get hot once it's fully charged?
The charger that comes with it is a quick charge 3.0 charger and can completely charge your phone from zero in less than 2 hours easily. You have to use the cord that came with it though, or at least one that is compatible. If you look at the icons, you will see a different one than the usual charging icon. Pulling down the menu shows something about fast-charging when its active.
My experience comes from the Sprint version.

i use one from Tylt each night since im always on-call. havent had a problem once.
None of my QC 3.0 charger fast chagrge my G6. The QC 2.0 chargers do.
I've bought a Choetech wall usb charger, QuickCharge 3.0 with its usb type-c cable, and when I plug it on LG G6, it says that there's fast charging.
https://amzn.com/B019Q5WT6W
I do not believe the LG stock charger is qc qc 3.0 compatible because its fixed mat output at 9v is 1.8a
qc 3.0 defines the max amps at each voltage level from 5v to 9v to 12v
I ended up buying anker qc 3.0 chargers for my car and for ac wall outlet. also bought their nice braided usb c cable. every combination yields a fast charger notification in the drop down and the ampere app confirms this. also watching the real time output is impressive from all these chargers.
the benefit to using a certified qc 3.0 charger is that the phone will tell it exactly what amps to deliver based on charge & temp.
further, the G6 has a heat pipe to help cool the entire phone including the battery, to help prevent a galaxy note scenario.
wireless charging is slow Qi spec and is NOT fast like samsung. however, slow charging over wireless is great for overnight.
I use anker's qi charging puck and it works great except I have to remove my case. same with the samsung fast charger puck. my wife doesn't have to remove the case on her S7 to do regular or fast charging. LG's design is obviously inferior for the Qi to pickup and activate the coil.
Today Amazon delivered also this Anker dual usb car charger (QuickCharge 3.0):
http://amzn.com/B01K9MQ8WW
and when LG G6 is connected it shows that is in fast charging mode.
Those who bought QC 3.0 charger and those who trying different cables with LG G6 charger, Try Cable from Oneplus 3, I get an improved charging of 10-20 minutes less compared to stock LG cable
The issue might be the cable you're using. I've had no trouble fast charging using an old ASUS QC 2.0 charger, or a cheap car QC 3.0 charger. Even when using microUSB cables with USB-C adapter tips, but I'm using decent cables (mostly Monoprice and Anker).
I've confirmed that the charger that came with my G6 is QC3.0 (model MCS-H06UR, UK 3-pin). Using a USB power meter, the voltage will increase from 5V to 9V in small steps. If I use a QC 2.0 charger (stock charger from Note4/S7edge), it will jump from 5V to 9V immediately.

Edit From My Post Below. As I looked more into this, my wall charger that came with my phone is just a small 25w box EP-TA800 which I don't understand why accubattery says its getting 5,000+ mAh from it but needless to say the baseus car charger below is able to supply the 25w means while my Anker charger doesn't https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Charger...rger&qid=1575374418&smid=AREE309N4XPXI&sr=8-5 . It looks like I need a new cable to make this 45w thing to work, if it even works with baseus. but still better then the pixel 2 xl 16.3W charging speed. But even if one where able to achieve 45w charging speeds. It would only be good for the first %50 the rest cuts down in speed.
The Baseus 45W Quick Charge 4.0 3.0 USB Car Charger For iPhone Xiaomi mi Huawei QC4.0 QC3.0 QC PD 6A Fast Charging Car Phone Charger from https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33020251902.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dO0uWdy "usb-c version" seems to be working good. The charger said 26.2V, 9.32V and, 2.75A and its able to support 15V at 3A and 20V at 2.25
Supplying 24V to the Baseus car charger, it only supplied 9.32V X 2.75A = 25.63‬Watts which is about the same just using 12V
My current cable only supports PD 2.0 60W, 3 Amps
The 100W cable says it can do PD 2.0 with Gen2 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/329...chweb0_0,searchweb201602_6,searchweb201603_52
Not all cables are the same. But i'm calling this as a good 25Watt charger with cable combo just untill it burns out
Its pretty crazy that Samsung chose the latest PD 3.0 variant with PPS, requiring the odd 10V at 4.5A. Clever heat management, but until now I came up empty finding the exact supporting charger other than the Samsung original who also seems to have its challenges. This article is pretty clear https://www.gsmarena.com/dont_just_..._for_the_samsung_galaxy_note10-news-38837.php
Not that I really would want such a fast charger to become my daily driver, fearing added wear on the battery, but for the rare occasion where I really need juice and do not have a powerbank handy, following if the community finds any solution.
