Hello, Im thinking of replacing my 1 year old LG G3 for OP3.
I have a question about AOSP roms. When AOSP rom like CM13 is flashed to phone that does not come with pure android some hardware may not work (like radio) or camera isnt as good as on stock based and battery life can be worse.
Is this the case for nexus phones and OP3?
Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, Yes
CM is not AOSP,
stock rom ( OXYGEN ) is closer to aosp, but with experiences from my previousOP1 and 2, i thinks OOS on OP3 will sucks. CM is better for all Oneplus devices
So for example with CM the camera quality or battery quality will stay the same ?

Battery maybe even better. Camera i dont think so. Usually the camera experience is the best on a stock rom.

Hello,
I'm not asking about which ROM is the best. But as it was in the case on HTC there are some roms with better and worse camera quality (ex. sense 3,6 best camera, sense 5 worst). So which ROM has the best camera quality? I mean not the ROM itself but:
- sony Kitkat stock
- sony 5.0 stock
- sth based on CM 12
- sony ported from z3, z2 etc.
Please tell me if there are any differences between camera quality on each ROM.
Thanks

I've been used Sense 3/4/4+/5. I think during at Sense3(should be GB age), the camera on all Android is also bad. Sense 4/4+ is quite good and Sense 5 seems donoise too heavy so it made the quality looks bad. Never try Sense 6 though.
In my experiences, Z1c performs quite differently on all roms. I've heard some guys here and in other forum said stock 4.3(JB) got best details out but the color reproduction and WB on 4.3(and 4.4.2) is real poor. Indeed, I like stock 4.4.4 the most.
On stock 5.0.2, it looks like the jpg compression isn't as large as in JB/KK(good for outdoor). So some said better but the denoise algorithm looks more heavily now(worse than 4.4.4 at low light). But the 20MP mode quality on 5.0.2 should be a bit better(SA and scenes only available on 8MP supersampling mode). Overall, I will recommend to stick with 4.4.4 for more predictable camera quality and battery performance and wait until 5.1.1 out around July end or Aug.
CM always do bad camera on Z1c, forget it.

Thanks for reply. I tried 5.0 and I think it has better superrio auto mode. But the whole system is so laggy... So I will stay on 4.4.4

Bcoz on 4.4.4 you have to use this mod cam(for deodexed rom only) instead of the stock camera to get best quality or the custom rom you running pre-installed this mod.
What are real benefits of moving from OxygenOS to Cynaogen ?
I'm pretty happy with OxygenOS, but I'm wondering if I'm not missing something.
Is battery life better ? Overall performance of OP3 is great, does CM13 provide even better performance than Oxygen ?
My battery is better on CM, and CM is more customization, I just wish a stable build would be out and no more nightlys.

Does dash charge work and sRGB mode ? And the battery life is like much better or barely noticeable better ?

Dash charge works, srgb mode I think works I don't use it so no idea.
Battery life I did two tests, one on OOS, same apps, etc etc, settings. One on CM13.
I played 720p movies, on mx player, same brightness. I got 1 hour 30 extra playtime with CM than I did OOS.
Not the best test, but yeah.
LEDs work correctly on this unlike OxygenOS which just warps through rainbow colours for some odd reason. sRGB I toggle though a kernel app on CM
Camera on CM isn't as good as stock. Progress is being made on CM and there's a OOS camera app port project. As soon as the camera is good enough I'll switch to CM

I would go with Stock if i were you because it is far more stable than Cyanogenmod 13.0
If you want more customization then install Xposed and Gravitybox
For me the battery is better on Oxygen OS and it's very stable than CM13. Not sure if CM13 has pocket mode? The one thing Oxygen OS doesn't have is themes which works great on CM13.
Does CM13 have the full stock DND functionality? How does it work with the slider?
Cm sucks go for aosp
how about features of Camera in CM is that same as Oxygen OS?

Could you tell me why? Is it in general or just with OP3?

on cm based roms wifi is really weak, camera not so good compared to oos. also, got some problems with gps. it's software issue, rma replaced motherboard to brand new.
I tried CM13 for one day. It killed my battery. It was a 20% difference. The CM OS was #1 in battery usage. It was unacceptable to me, and that is with Greenify running on both.
I LOVE the built-in permissions of CM so I don't need XPrivacy.
But I'm not giving up the battery life of OOS.
Your experience may be different but I don't have a compelling reason not to stay stock.
Using a different kernel may help with CM for me, but I'd don't feel like I need it that badly.
For me, battery life is almost the same on OOS vs. cm nightly, and the camera is a bit better on OOS.. There's only one thing why i use OOS, and that is the app opening speed. Much faster than CM, even if odexed.
Just received my OP3 today and was wondering is OOS or CM13 more stable and battery friendly?
The only big downside on CM13 is the camera quality, it's not as good as OOS + Oneplus Camera app. Battery life, fingerprint scanner performance, etc is similar.
Agree with litter, but, Imo and with resurection remix rom, the batery life is much better...

BJ Resurrection remix has OOS camera. I no longer have a reason to use OOS

I don't really use the camera alot so if CM13 is more stable and battery friendly than OOS, then I can use the OOS camera port for CM.

There is 3 Resurrection ROM, is there any difference between them?

I'm not sure if it is more stable, but I don't really like OxygenOS or trust it too much (reason 1, reason 2), so I always use CyanogenMod.
Even with the port, the camera quality on low light is still not the same. Oneplus is aware and they are trying to come up with something that allows custom roms to use their camera stuff. But... this is Oneplus, don't expect anything soon.
I've never tried BJ Resurrection Remix rom, so I can't comment on that.

IN GENERAL NOT REALLY. but internal yes and some have a bit more features than others. I believe the JB is the only resurrection that actually is guarantee to work with OOS port In other versions some random bugs show up. also I like the fact that JB doesn't update the rom EVERY week he only updates it when there is security patches or new features to be added(necessary updates). I personally don't flash nightly builds. this rom is super smooth and I think battery is Great! I go to bed with 20-30% every day.
Obviously the biggest problem with LOS rom is the camera.
From fantastic camera we go to a medicore one at best
So I wonder what are everyone choice to get a better shots..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/app-t3529722
Turn on X-hdr and turn off other function
The camera is the reason I'll pass on LOS at the moment. Maybe when they stop supporting the device with updates, I will think about changing to this rom...
I feel you, but frankly, los is just so much better, fast smoth with almost vanilla android, I've just got tired from this crappy miui...
Isn't snapdragon camera and los camera the same? IMO snapdragon camera is very good
How much bad camera is it in LOS rom anyway? I mean, I know camera in Miui is better, but how much worse can it be in LOS?
With a good shot it will look fine, but it's harder to shot with more blurry photos
Good thread...I flashed LOS two days ago and I really miss the quality and features of Miui camera...(the only advantage of miui of course)
stock is far superior, in fact that is the only reason im not in los
I guess he means the stock from LOS, not from stock miui...which is of course much better
sorry, yea stock for miui.
Isn't this for the Mi 5? Would it work on the Mi 5S with no conflict? Also, isn't there an official Snapdragon camera for our device?
It's been a long time since I've used a non-stock-based ROM on my G3
I remember back then any ROM I tried would have a pretty shoddy camera implementation if it was not based off of LG G3 Stock
From what I understood, this was because the G3 has some proprietary drivers that are embedded into LG's stock ROM to truly make the camera run smoothly
Is this still the case? If I want good camera functionality, that isn't laggy, that is full screen, that feels smooth and makes the most of the hardware, do I still need to aim for Stock-Based ROMs?
And if so, what Stock-Based ROMs are recommended and / or still in active development these days?
It looks like Fulmics hasn't been updated since June; is Clean ROM the last remanent?

It is hard to answer this question what rom might be good for me might not be for you....Its all user based my device usage varies from yours... Personally i use fulmics and or old cloudy.... But those might not work for you the best advice is to try them all til you find what you like and what suits your needs
