I seen from another post you used idoneapps. I also use Att service and unlocked with idoneapp. That's just the activation app for Sprint cdma service.
Just goto the debranding option in the idoneapp and select delete carrier apps to erase them, or disable carrier apps if you feel the need to keep them on your phone.
Or you can use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall them.
That should do it.:good:

I will try that thank you, another thing since you're using the AT&T service on your device as well do your text messages fail two or three times before finally sending off? And are you able to receive 4G or 4G LTE on yours? Mine is only reading 3G but it's not super painfully slow just a little.
Delete that file or change its extension from .apk to .ap.

My text work fine. And the phone will only say 3g cause we can't use LTE. DOESN'T have right bands enabled. But it's still 4G. I connect on HSPA+. Which is fast enough for me. Plus I use web mostly at home on Wi-Fi.
About that texting, only thing I've noticed is you can't send or receive MMS with Wi-Fi on. Unless you use a 3rd party app like Textra.

Yeah, I am not able to get mms messages if I'm hooked up to wifi also. I think I'll download that app and just use it instead. So even though the phone displays 3G its 4G speeds? If it's not too much trouble would you be able to provide a screenshot of your apn settings?

That look right. I mostly get when I test @ 1Mbps upload and download. That first pic I sent was getting good bandwidth.
I've seen threads claim to get Lte but I don't think it's possible. I've even tried unlocking lte bands.-no go.
Phones fast enough for me. I'm just glad to have such an awesome phone handed down to me. It's got great development to.

I am running a Syndicate 2.1 ROM and I get Roam notif's sometimes here at home when my service is out of range...
Roam control has been working fine for me on the last few versions of Viper (4.0.1, 4.0.2c, 4.0.3 and 4.0.4).
Works for me. I have to have the 'reboot' option selected.
When my phone restarts I have a little triangle over my signal bars. If you don't get the triangle you're not roaming.
No issues here. I'm running Bonsai v 2.0.1. I had viper trinity v1, apocalypse and frozen. Worked on all those too.
Works fine for me on Bonsai 2.01. No problem either on any previous ROMs I've tried.

Hey MrGreg question about your app, with it forcing roam you are only able to obtain 1xRTT right? Or does this somehow allow 3g roaming with Sprint -> Verizon?
I have good 3g almost everywhere already but wondering if it may be worth buying just to have to force Verizon if needed.
Works fine on stock Eclair rom rooted. Sometimes I get a some sort of java error, but it always changes. Make sure phone type is set.
Mine doesn't work. Tried reboot and I get no signal at all when I force into roam. Works fine both networks. I'm in Orlando,FL.

I've already tried selecting the maufacturer (samsung) and I have even tried reboot on selection, maybe its the way I rooted it, how did you root your phone. I used z4root. Whenever I click roam only, it just asks for root and when I press accept, the service/roam stays the same.
Does somebody know a fix for this?
Thanks

It puts the phone into a roam only mode and the phone generally roams according to the PRL, so you're limited by the roaming agreements. You'll most likely get 1x data speeds.
I say the phone generally roams according to the PRL because I've seen a few areas where the phone will get a roaming signal in "automatic" mode but not in "roam only" mode, or it will get 3G roaming in "automatic" mode but only 1x in "roam only" mode. I'm not sure how the roaming algorithm is implemented on the phone, but it seems slightly different between the two modes.

I did say that the app puts the phone into a roam only mode, but there are some limitations with the Samsung phones. They seem to only roam on the 800mhz frequency band when in this mode. There are a few areas in the US that are 1900mhz only (Chicago, most of TX, parts of FL, etc), which means the Samsung phones will not get any signal when using Roam Control. If this is the case for you, send me an email and I can give you a refund.
If you attempting to put it in "roam only" mode and the phone stays on Sprint, that's a different story. Does the app display any errors? Does the signal disappear momentarily and them come back?

The phone just stays on sprint when I click roam only, when I had it for the evo, it worked perfectly. It showsno errors when I click the app. When I click roam only, it just says that roam control has been granted superuser permissions, and nothing else happens, it just stays on sprint. Do you kno what may be causing the problem? Also, when I click about and press view log file, it just shows 105 if that helps. I am rooted via z4root if that might also pose a problem
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hey guys, i have a few questions
i have a tmobile gs3 and am passionately waiting for the JB OTA update. Untill then however, i would love to use CM10 JB ROM. THe only problem is that it doesnt have the tmobile wifi "built-in" app for that. So does anyone know a way for that to happen? (PM me if you know a way).
Also, currently im am using ICS and it seems like i need at least one bar of cellular coverage for wifi to work. If i am not registering a cellular network, my wifi will not work. I noticed this pretty recently and was wondering if it is like that normally. Are there apps or fixes that can allow you to use wifi if you are not registering cellular network at all (kinda like an airplane mode)?
Thanks alot
I will donate to developers if they can help me out
Don't want to be one of those people, but there are a lot of threads on it. But, pretty much, unless it has changed recently, there isn't a wifi-calling for any CM stuff yet and not sure if there will be. Some people were working on a project. There are other roms out there that do have working wifi calling though, might want to take a look at those.
Also, you don't need cell signal for the wifi calling to work.

What do u mean a WiFi built in app? Also have u tried any new radios for cell coverage? And WiFi does not need any cellular service at all

i have had cm10 jb on my gs3 and then i decided that i needed tmobile wifi calling. so once i downloaded stock ics from samsung and installed it, my wifi calling only works when i am registering the cellular network. If i dont have any bars (and wifi is connected) it won't call at all. wjat could be the fix for this?

Well if u flashed the stock ROM with Odin like u said let it boot up then go into stock recovery or if u have a custom recovery wipe data and caches. To get in it is the same way either way. Vol up, home, and power at same time
I just moved to CM10 a few minutes ago and personally, I don't know how I would ever go back to anything less than this. Why worry about WiFi calling when there are plenty of VoIP alternatives that use Google Voice?

can i somehow set it up so that when my tmobile number is unavailable, it redirects it to google voice? But only when my number is unavailable (as in i wouldn't want to set the redirect every time i am planning to go off service). The thing is that i go to school and i see patients all day long, and in some places i have reception and in some i dont. its very irregular and unpredictable. so if i could set it up in the way that "if unavailable, redirect to google voice" type of thing, i would be a happy camper.
Oh and also, even my google voice does not work if i am not registering a cellular network just a bit. (help with this too?)
thanks guys

im not sure what i did, but i know that i did not specifically erase any data. it just seems that wifi calling is an integral part of the firmware that any "random" data on the phone should no phase it. hmm...
Can someone confirm that CM10 JB has a option in the Phone App menu to forward a call when unreachable? I donw want to go thru the hassle of installing it if it doesnt have that option.
thanks alot guys

I'll look into this further and see what I can uncover for you. I use GrooveIP for my VoIP needs and it was a godsend when I was on the $30 plan with T-Mobile. Hopefully I can find something that will suit your needs in the process.

There should be a setting for phone forwarding just like any other OS/phone. Just change it to your GV number and should be GTG.
So hopefully someone has an idea because this is driving me crazy. It seems like something is detecting the sprint LTE and does not recognize it as a high speed connection and sets something as a lower speed and telling the phone to download lower resolution images.
I have seen this on a few roms now so I dont think its a rom problem but I'm currently on M.O.A.R 4.0 but have seen the issue on hyperdrive also. My Area (WA state pugent sound area) has recently have been upgraded to sprint lte in this area but its still not %100. When using LTE the speed is great but for some reason anytime i use Tumblr on LTE it will download VERY VERY low resolution copies. If I click the link in tumblr and open it in browser I get the same low resolution picture even if I click download or reload the browser....? I have noticed this happening in another app "short blogger" does the same thing. So here is another bit of info. If I use my vpn program that I normally use for when i have to connect to a open wifi (vpn1click).
So LTE+ tumblr= crap pictures
LTE+VPN gets full quality pictures.
3g gets full quality pictures %100 no matter how slow sprint is that day just wifi= perfect %100 fine
if anyone has any idea's how to prevent or fix this please let me know. Am I the only sprint user having this issue? Is it maybe something with the LTE towers in this area of WA? I thought this may be related to power saving settings on the s3 as I knew some of them did things with pictures but I shut all of those off and the problem still happens.

I use LTE about 90% of the time an do not have that issue. Could be as you say just that the upgrades are being done or your getting slower than normal speeds. Are you using the stock browser or something else. I use Chrome or Dolphin browser and do not experience that. I do remember that sometimes the stock browser did do that.

Only thing is our LTE is WAY faster than our 3g so I think its a misdetection of the connection type someplace. I use chrome and firefox and both will do it. As well as both the tumblr app and the shortblogger app. I just did another test. I put my phone on 4g went into tumblr pictures look like crap. I then copy the URL and try opening in other programs it will look the same. I then turned on my wifi and reload the same webpage and now it looks great.
Also if I use a VPN with LTE the problem disappears. Could it be sprints proxy or something on LTE?

Good luck
Hey everyone and thanks for taking the time to read this,
So the story goes as so: After doing some research couple months ago about the capability of the Verizon Galaxy S3 to work on T-mobile, i purchased it, and got it to successfully work on T-mobile(texts, calls, wi-fi). The problem is, i just recently upgraded to include a data plan, and i cannot access the internet, despite taking my phone to my cell phone dealer and contacting T-mobile.T-mobile even sent me a guide to do a mastery reset to factory in hopes to solve this problem, only to tell me afterwards that the phone version SCH-I535 is a "verizon locked-software" and i won't be able to set up an APN to work on the T-mobile network. This was all due to the fact that i was not able to set up a APN for T-mobile, and every time i tried to access it through setting, it brought me to a blank black page with the only option of "Reset to Default". After reading other forums and talking with some people, many have suggested i take this issue to XDA to find a solution.
So, here i am.....Does anyone know if it is possible for me to break/root/ or whatever it is called so i can successfully access the t-mobile network on my phone? Preferably an easier guide since i am sort of a newbie at this sort of stuff.
Thanks again for reading.
Before your Contract change, you were able to receive and make calls successfully with T-Mo Sim right ? Even now you can make calls too correct ? The reason I am asking this is to be able to check if you are really unlocked off of VZW. If you are not unlocked, then that would be the first step.
You are right, the APNs do drive Data Connection. If the stock firmware does not allow you to change APNs then you will have to root. Please post a screen of your Settings > About phone that shows your Rom Version, Baseband and Kernel.

Hey Perseus, thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I bought the phone in the summer off someone who had verizon. I have always had T-mobile, and considering this phone is GSM, i decided to buy it because it would probably work for T-mobile. I had the phone unlocked, and i am currently using it to make calls, texts, and even use wi-fi with no problem. The only problem at this time is that i recently added a data plan which i cannot currently use. Here is a screen shot of what you have requested.
Thanks again
First try
Settings > More > Mobile Networks > Preferred Network Type.See what it is set to. Change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA if needed. See the other option System Select as well.
Also separately try the following.
Hit ##DATA# in the Dialer. In the subsequent Menu choose EDIT > OTHERS > LTE APN
If all fails, please Root the phone and then try. The way you go about is
1. Flash a Custom Recovery via Odin. Make sure the version of Custom recovery is for your model D2VZW not D2TMO.
2. Flash a SuperSU zip file via Recovery and then hit fix permissions in the recovery.
Try the APN Settings after that. IF you can actually access them, then set them according to this link.
If all the above fails, I'd suggest a custom Rom for d2VZW.
You will never get 4g trust me I had one... you will just get the E

Ok, so i tried to changed it to LTE and i got no service at all, so i switched it back to Global. I also tried the dialer thing several times, and got the " connection problem or invalid MMI code"
So i guess i am going to have to root the phone? Does anyone know a good video tutorial or written tutorial on how to safely do this? Also, what exactly is rooting?

You have to enable the mmi codes to use them. Anyway as stated above your reply you will never get 3g or 4g just edge (seen it personally) which is pretty darn slow.. Not worth it if you ask me and be paying for data.. If you still want to root it and keep trying to add sons check the Verizon forums.. They could probably help you a lot more than on this side of the forums

Guys, he is not getting ANY data signal at all. His problem isn't getting the specific icon but being not able to change APNs.
@HackThisThing, you are better off following up on Verizon Device forum. That forum does have a video tutorial for Rooting. Here's forum link.
I don't think you will be able to change APNs without rooting. I checked with a buddy of mine who has the same device as you.
Here's a good answer to What is Rooting ?
Even if you CAN fix it, why bother if you can only get 2G? I'd sell it or trade it for a phone that's more compatible with T-Mobile 's network instead of paying for data and only getting dial-up speeds. I get that solving problems is fun, but OP do you want to live with only 2G?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
I don't agree with that assessment. Just like the T999L phone, this device will work on LTE Bands just fine. OP just needs to wait for LTE to be rolled out in their area. There's a coverage map and roll out schedule on T-Mo website and the T-Mo News blog.
It's worth a look, but could still leave them with patchy coverage. If it's going to be a while, why wait when it's not hard to just trade the phone? I guess I don't see a reason why hold out on getting a Verizon phone to work when you could just get one that works now with little to no monetary loss. It's just a Verizon S3, not really something worth "waiting" for when they could get the same thing but more functional on their network of choice.
They made an honest mistake and waiting might give them "good enough" service - but other than that they're stuck with dial up speed only and risk bricking a phone they could just trade or sell now.
Maybe I'm just impatient and risk averse.

OP has already purchased this VZW version.

How to get any type of data...?
Hoy hoy, my point and goal in this post is to get an answer for my question here. As well as a quick result to a Google search for anyone looking.
Text now is selling a galaxy s 3 for 99$. I had the T 999 model for T-Mobile and had good luck. But I know all too well the hazards of root.
So according to the info here, in the attached photos would I be in the right place. Also text now runs all the calling and texting thru data 4Glte so data is gone at 2Gb at that point there its all gotta be WiFi. Yam

The stock Rom from this carrier always routes the calls thru the text now app. I have the bars for tower signal but it seems I won't be able to make calls unless I've a data connection, which will shut off completely once the allowed data is used. Then only works on wifi.
Am I doing something wrong or am I stuck with volte voice over lte?
And will this be changed during flash.
Any known hazards?

That you have modified the system
Okay well that makes sense because the phone number in settings and about phone is different than the phone number in text now and text now has rerouted any dials even from the native dialer over to their app to make calls. I wonder if I flash different ROM that has a native dialer allowed that I would call from the number in settings?
This root and flash will be very interesting I wonder what will happen I will definitely be posting the outcome.
I'll try and flash is stable rom and hope for the best

I went ahead and flashed an older Rom from 2013 the APN was not working properly. I should've pulled a log but didn't think of it. So I nand restored via cwm. Upon reboot I had two impassable errors logs providers stoped and android prosses.acore stopped surely the apn and latter issues are unrelated. Still I'm going to try and find a way around the apn issue. If it happens again (likely so) ill be sure to have a logcat .zip to flash as so not wasting time. Any suggestions for apn backup/restore apk's are helpfull. Thanks and sorry for the faulty question with no log for help to go on. Ill make sure I have one if I post again.
