Pixel C vs Tab S 10.5 - Pixel C Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning,
I received this great tablet yesterday, the 64gb version. The Tablet so far is working great except when you distance yourself a little bit from the wifi router the download speeds slow down.
I currently have a Tab S 10.5 bought on release and am wondering is the Pixel C really that much of an upgrade over it aside from the software updates? Any current or ex Tab S owners rocking the Pixel C now?
I appreciate the advice,
Rey

Yes, and loving the Pixel C. Sold the Tab S 10.5. I've read all the stuff re the WiFi signal strength. I cannot comment much re that as my Pixel rarely leaves my house, but signal / download speed is perfectly adequate anywhere at home--front / back deck, anywhere in the house or garage.

Thank you for your reply. Are you running stock on the Pixel C or are you rooted? Running CM12.1 on the TAB S and haven't rooted the Pixel C as I'm testing it out.

Unrooted Pixel C (altho I did unlock the bootloader--tried the N preview, but it wouldn't let me go back to M so had to unlock and flash M image). Tab S was rooted stock ROM.

wifi drop out with bluetooth

I just got the note 8 and I was watching YouTube with my jam box bluetooth speaker. Wifi was dropping out. When I turn off bluetooth the wifi is fine. This problem effects other devices I understand - like the nexus 4. Samsung built this tablet without fixing the problem? Thoughts please. This is a major dissapointment and I may return the tablet but l would rather not if a fix is available or coming soon.

:good:
Does anybody else have this problem? It is happening again in another room of my house. According to wifi analyzer l am getting between 60 and 70dbm signal strength which is in the yellow zone but close to green. So it is not a weak signal.
I will return mine for another, hopefully not wasting my time.

I had the same problem with my Note 10.1; it only happened when streaming bluetooth audio. It was fine when using my bluetooth keyboard. I askedthe same question that you did, but on the Note 10 forum, and I got no replies.
I might get this problem when I'm using Tablet Talk and connected with bluetooth. I also have short and brief instances were WiFi seems to disconnect.

Well I got another Note 8 today and playing around with it. I am close to the router and wifi is dropping out while streaming to my jambox. The only mitigating thing as the wifi usually reconnects before the buffer is used up... at least when I am close to the router and the signal is strong.
I can't believe that not one reviewer identified this problem! Shows you how useless they are. :^)
As this is android 4.1 based it should not have the streaming issues. So this may be a hardware issue.
This sucks and I have to evaluate if this tablet is now worth it.
Did you guys do the software update that came out in april? I read somewhere it had bug fixes for wifi issues.

Update
I went to the samsung store to test my jambox with their galaxy note 8 and their wifi. Surprise surprise there was no drop out. So I suspect my old dlink DIR-655 router 2.4 GHz is the problem. Anyways I just got a new Asus rt-n66u router and set-up the note 8 on the 5 GHz band. Streaming Google play music to my jambox while browsing on the Internet and no drop out. Tablet is a keeper. What a relief.

Switching from Xperia Z5 to OnePlus 3

Dear Oneplus 3 users,
Is it a worth switch from Xperia Z5 to OnePlus 3? Some of my friends said it's not worth the switch.. but i was still curious because some reviewers said it's a really really good phone.. i need advices from you guys OnePlus 3 users.. it would really help me for thinking about the switch.. thanks guys (sorry for bad english)
Believe me ....
Dash charge enough to switch
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
In my opinion, Comparing to Z5, One Plus 3 is far better. but if you have budget i prefer you S7 Edge, It's the best phone with alot of features, Or you can buy an Iphone 6s
so i should make the switch then? is it annoying when you guys dont have sd card support?

64 Gb is more than enough to install loads of apps and shoot pictures and video's. I still have 34 Gb free.
I have used the OPO (OnePlus One) before my Oneplus 3 and I never had major problems regarding not having an sd-card slot.
I have never used the Xperia Z5 myself, but i can say that the OnePlus 3 with the Snapdragon 820 is a beast. It runs fantastically smooth and the dash charge is really fast.
The only thing i wished the Oneplus 3 had, is a higher resolution display. It is not a bad display -far from it-, but using VR with this phone is not pretty.
hi i switch from z2 to op3 and my brother have z5 but i like op3 and i think i better than Z5 in fingerprint..screen...front camera..storage..and of course developer support and the big thing is dash charge

I switched from Z3 and I love my OP3
+Easy to root, unlock Bootloader, etc..
+Wide community, on Xperia it was mainly SLiM for me, here you got the choice, I am on Revolution Remix, very nice!
+No SDCARD >> I dont feel any pain here, actually with my Z3 I had a sdcard and almost never put it off.. Do you? got enough room so far with the 64Gb
+Dash Charge is Wow, and anyway batterry not bad. I use Greenify and be around 50% at end of day
-The only struggle I met sometimes, but I am not sure it is confirmed or my paranoia, it' s the wifi connection, it seems a bit behaving slow or weird sometimes, but I still hope someone comes with a solution about that.
Cheers

Should I get this phone?

Hi guys, currently using Mediapad M5 but I'm starting to get a little bored and frustrated with things I thought I could live with like no headphone jack and no ear speaker. Thinking about getting the Mate 20 but I have a concern. I'm a dedicated user of Nova Launcher and have read about people having difficulty changing the launcher. Is there something I can look out for when buying the phone to ensure I have a version that will allow me to delete the Huawei launcher or change the default? Also I'm interested in anything else you guys can advise me to look out for. I'm in NJ and I use ATT. I'm assuming I should be looking for the international version, but other than that I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Hello there!
I am a big fan of big phones and I understand why you would want this phone, its dual speakers are great and headphone jack sound is the best I have heard with dolby atmos.
You can only change launcher on global version (EVR-L29) like mine, non-stock launchers work great!
I suggest you to buy the global version and not chinese for less bloatware, working notifications, working 3rd party launchers, fully working rom out of the box and gapps.
There are 2 versions of the phone Global and Chinese; Global version is EVR-L29 while the chinese version has 2 variants - normal EVR-AL00 and a branded china telecom version EVR-TL00
I personally got my phone from a local store near my home which luckily had the evr-l29 in stock, but I suggest to look on amazon for internation version or ask some people here

I'm in the USA, and I agree with Omer.
I'm in the USA and have this phone. It works great on att but here is the problem. With a locked bootloader you have no options once Huawei stops supporting it. I have the Chinese version so you deal with little quirks here and there as well.
I got mine when I was in hong Kong. Everything works perfectly including google, nova launcher. And works in Canada on all networks so I assume the US should be good as well.

I got rid of my tablet and only use my Mate 20 X phone and laptop. My Mate 20 X has replace my tablet. I watch movies and shows on it all the time. I initially thought that 7.2 inches is too small to watch movies. 8.4 or 10.5 would be better. BUT after a few weeks, this is the perfect size for consuming media for me and it's light enough for the pocket. I don't miss my tablet at all. I sold my phone, tablet and laptop and only use this Mate 20 x and a PixelBook. Happy as hell!

I wouldnt hold off, huawei confirmed that every existing device will still get updates and security updates as well as confirming emui 9.1 june 27 and android q request for mate 20 x. they wont remove gapps or android from existing phones but future ones wont have them
Thanks for all the input. I will likely pull the trigger this week. So just to confirm, with the EVR-L29, I should have no problem using Nova Launcher, correct?

Get it, You won't regret it. Best phone I've ever had. I replaced my Note 9 that I had for only 2 months with this phone. And I barely use my tablet now.
But make sure you put a glass screen protector and a nice case before you use it. The glass one on Amazon is perfect.
The only thing I don't like is Telegram App does not always toast new messages. The OS automatically kills some apps that run too often in the background.

I have both 7 pro and rog2 (tencent, ww rom).
Oneplus 7 pro pros :
- better screen quality, the colors are more vibrant, but lower max brightness than ROG2.
- software is better, updates in a timely manner, it's on Android10 already and in general they seem to offer much better support than Asus (remember, ROG1 is still on Android8 with no plans for any updates)
- smaller, lighter
- telephoto camera, better overall photo quality in my opinion
ROG2 pros:
- 120Hz screen offers a super smooth experience
- THAT battery
- auto brightness works
- 3.5mm headphone jack with good audio quality, also pretty good amplification
- flat screen
- notification led
- stereo speakers done right
- ultra wide lens is wider than on 7 pro (or any phone I know) at 11mm, although the quality is so-so.
Hope this helps...

Sure it can, but gcam cannot substitute OIS that rog2 lacks on both lens for example. Saying that, I admit although I installed and took a couple of photos with gcam, I'm still far from having any conclusion.
Again, the 7 pro is not a camera phone marvel, but I find it to be a little better/flexible than the rog2 in the camera department (having OIS and telephoto lens also helps). Also, OnePlus made some real steps in making the camera better via software updates since 7 pro launched. Asus on the other hand, is not known for being eager to fix things or keeping the phone up-to-date in the software department and that's what worries me most regarding rog2.
I've just got a Tencent version delivered now in the UK for me, I'm on virgin mobile (virtual network on EE) and I cannot get 4G signal, only HSPA+. My Oneplus5 gets 4G+ here and about 45mbit speeds.
My Asus ROG2 came already with WW firmware, but I'm not sure if it is just the band 20 missing that is the issue. I was expecting at least a tiny bit of 4G, but so far I've got no 4G signal at all.

I'm not sure if my phone was "warming up" but it managed to get 4G a bit later even though it was on my desk exactly at the same position when it was on HSPA for a while. I'm getting 4G+ at speed test here that was around 30-40mbits on my oneplus 5 went to 60mbit on the asus rog 2.
I'll take it out tomorrow on the road to see how it goes
I believe this 4g reception issue is only valid with the 128GB version right? 512GB version with 12GB ram should have all the 4G bands in the UK?

Yes, I believe the that one has all bands
the only band missing in the UK is band 20, 800-900mhz ish.
Not sure if the 12gb chinese version has the band 20, it is still for chinese market I guess.

I think it is, especially if you're into custom ROMs and rooting and so forth, as the 10 Pro scene hasn't gotten to that point as of this writing; there's lots of fretting and hand-wringing in the 10 Pro forum about it. I picked up a refurbished one last month from Amazon and am tickled pink with it (I'm keeping my trusty 7 Pro as a backup). In fact, the first thing I did was load my custom-built LineageOS fork (which I had already built in anticipation) onto it, as there was no way I was going to stay on OxygenOS beyond using it to OEM unlock the phone.
Hey guys,
Just received a used 9 Pro LE2123 and I got it without any battery juice.
I am using the warp charger that is from this model and I noticed that the charging is super slow.
It came with Android C61 and I let it update to C62, if this plays any role.
Any ideas about what is happening?

Why to do this?
The device was factory resetted when I got it.
Because you've literally no idea what the last user had flashed to it, or had messed around with.

Making Custom ROMs isn't my issue. The problem with 10 pro for me is not be able recover if got hardbricked (which I will do eventually) . We don't have any official stores in our country. And online services isn't really my thing. 10 Pro is 10$+ then 9 pro here. Still want to buy 9 pro over 10 pro cz of MSM mostly.

I guess after unlocking the bootloader and the full erase of data it should be fine.
op9pro could be a good phone for people living on social-media (nowadays the street-price is half of official price)
if you are flashotic or privacy-caring it's better thinking a bifferent device
Had mine for around 15 months, LE2123 it took a major hit when it went from a11 to a12. I'm completely stock and not modified in anyway. Overall I have been happy with the phone, I know it was expensive near launch but it's managed well so far. I've blocked all advertising by putting all my traffic through pihole and it's been good. Played a few games on boost mode and it's incredibly slick. I've seen in the latest version c62 you can use storage as ram also. Really love the camera, it has t's fault but most settings can be disabled ( like AI etc) and I am tempted to move to gcam.

My only concern is that some notifications are not coming up on time, so some apps need further check to fix this issue.

Don't use Gmail app. I personally use Sugar mail and never missed any emails.
The 9 Pro continues to hold its own! Actually it's still pretty popular!
Personally in the US its one of the few options left available for those who like to really customize their devices. With spectacular battery life on customs (I've had mine about a month and get 8h SOT with some light gaming casually). I mean it doesn't get much better than this! Sure during heavy tasks it can get a little hot but that is slightly improving with OOS12 firmware. It will still reach those peak temps but seemingly not as fast. I got mine from Amazon as well for about $750 USD quite the deal! Using this device has be quite the pleasure. I'm definitely happy on Crdroid with BluSpark kernel. And since OOS has dropped the ball it means that OOS12 based custom roms will get nice custom kernel support which isn't normally there for a long time. Looking forward to the future of this phone!
No, stick with a phone that has good stock firmware. Oos is buggy af and is getting more and more like chinese bloat.
I would suggest a pixel over it (maybe 7?)

Except that Pixel phones have a lot of problems of their own, including the firmware, and there's no reason to believe that the 7 series will be any different given Google's recent track record. Pixel vs 9 Pro is just one set of issues versus another at this point. But, if one wants to delve into custom ROMs, both are good in that department (disclaimer: I don't follow the custom ROM scene for Pixel phones so I'm not as familiar with it as I am the OnePlus line).

Pixels have lacking support compared to what it used to be with the Nexus line up. There is some interest but it's mostly unofficial support that doesn't last for long and its nothing that you can rely on like with the OnePlus phones

The biggest problem that puts people off the Pixels right now is the Samsung SoC and modem. Stupid decision on Google's part.
