HTC Mail Folders - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I have been using the stock HTC Mail app since release but I am trying to organize my mail folders a little better. I am using an outlook account with it. Is there any way I can add more folders? The only ones I see are the standard inbox, sent, junk, etc

Nevermind. I got this issue figured out.

How can you view other folders when using exchange active sync

Hi
I'm using the stock desire 2.1 rom (update 1) with sense and am connecting to mty work's exchange server via active sync. However, I am unable to access any folders that I have created on the server other than the 'standard' list
deleted items
sent items
drafts
outbox
junk e-mail
sync issues
sync issues/conflicts
sync issues/local failures
sync issues/server failures
I do, however, have other folders that I have created for things like hotel/ train bookings and for keeping a record of online orders.
If I use the standard mail client and set the account to IMAP I can subscribe to the additional folders, but I need many of the features that come with activesync, so I was wondering if there is any way to get to see my additional folders when getting my mail via activesync?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Spud
With the default app "mail" i can see subdirectories in the same menu you see the original subdirectories.
We have Exchange 2010 if it helps.
hmmm... that's intereseting. Thank you for your reply. Will try to find out what version our exchange server is, but have just checked again and no sub folders other than those listed in my earlier post are visible
I don't quite understand where you said "other folders that I have created for things like hotel/ train bookings and for keeping a record of online orders" - what's different about these folders to the ones you can't see? Perhaps it's to do with at what 'level' you created them? (i.e., were the ones you can see sub-folders within the main mail folders and the others outside of them). I've got a few subfolders on mine (Exchange 2007) at the same 'level' in the tree as Inbox, Sent Items, etc. and I can see them fine on my Desire.

The list of folders that are in my mailbox shoud be as follows
inbox
deleted items
sent items
drafts
outbox
junk e-mail
sync issues
sync issues/conflicts
sync issues/local failures
sync issues/server failures
Holiday bookings (x)
Online orders (x)
Football tickets (x)
contacts
calendar
journal
notes
All of the folders are at the same level (i.e. they are not a sub folder of another folder). The ones marked (x) are ones created by me many years ago that I cannot see when I go to folders in exchange active sync.
However, If I set the account up as IMAP I can subscribe to all of these folders, but I obviously lose some of the features that I need from active sync.
Hope that does a better job of explaining it

Ah OK - I was getting confused as to whether you could/couldn't see these other folders The ones that I've created (e.g., 'Old Messages') are at the same level as the ones you marked with an x and they DO show up on mine. I'd love to hide the Sync Issues ones as they seem pretty pointless, but can't see a way of doing so. Is it worth trying to create a new folder and see if it shows up? (in case there's some problem when your data has perhaps been migrated across before) - at least if this worked you could just move the messages to the newly created folders. Also perhaps worth deleting the sync partnership on Outlook Web Access as well as on your Desire then recreating it?

Thank you very much for your reply.
Creating new folders on my PC at work then copying the material acrosss has worked perfectly whereas if I create the folders at home via outlook they don't show up. All very weird, but great that it got sorted in the end.
Thanks again for your kind help

hotmail folders ?

Hello folks !
anyone found a good app or another way to show other folders in hotmail other than just inbox ? i have organized my emails a bit so it would be nice to get into the other folders as well
thanks guys
I don't understand what you mean exactly ?
You can already see Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Trash and Sent folder mail by going to Menu>Folders and choosing which to display.

I mean I have made other folders than that .. and it would be nice to see them as well

Hotmail on the Wildfire S (the deleting problem!)

Morning all...
So then, I'm still playing with my phones setup having had it for a month....
My main gripe is the lack of internal memory but thats another issue!
So then, I use Windows Live for all my personal stuff (contacts, calendar, and email) and want it to remain that way. I have tried using the official hotmail app however when I used that it used too much internal memory and the phone as a whole suffered.... So I would rather use the integrated android email solution. This works fine for everything when set up as an activesync account bar one thing. When you delete an email it will reappear on the next sync.
I currently get around this buy moving messages I want deleted to the trash box manually (Menu -> move -> Trash). Has anyone found a solution/fix to get the delete button working when syncing with hotmail!?!?
I'm used to Windows Mobile 6.5 so my thinking is that it shouldn't be too hard an issue to resolve... but I have no experience with Android yet! Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks all
Use standard mail app. See the thread of miui it includes link from me. Works great, Hotmail with puch and contact and calendar sync.

Should have mentioned... I am S-ON with the original o2 ROM....
So despite this....
If I download and use that mail.apk
it will overwrite the mail.apk installed on the device and resolve the deleting problem!
yes?
No it's just another app. I'm s-on too. Only allow to install non market apps

ok... but the app allows full integration with the htc sense functions?
Does it have a widget to display emails etc?
Does Contact linking work like normal ?
sorry for all the qs!
Works all but no sense widget. It's mail app from cm7

Duplicate Sent Mail - GMail

Okay, I noticed something weird last night.
When I send an email from my HOX using HTC mail client IMAPped to GMail, two copies of the sent mail appear in GMail on my laptop.
This was confusing me because in threads it looked like I'd sent two copies of the same email.
I've tested it, and I am not sending two mails, but it looks like I am saving two copies of the emails in my GMail account.
I've had a look on Google to see how to fix this, and there is mention of unticking a 'Save Sent Email' option - but I can't find that on the HOX.
Has anyone also noted this 'feature', and has anyone been able to remove it?
TIA.
Unfortunately the HTC mail app doesn't play nice with Gmail. If you log into your Gmail account through a browser, you will notice three new labels. I think they are [IMAP]Sent, [IMAP]Trash and [IMAP]Drafts. Instead of saving sent messages in the normal sent folder, the HTC app saves them in the [IMAP]Sent folder. Gmail then saves another copy in its own Sent folder. I think the only way around this is to use the Gmail app.

Thanks Pats Fan!
I don't know if you found an answer, but I was able to fix it by going to the desktop Gmail settings, "Labels" tab > then check the "Show in IMAP" for Sent mail, Drafts & Trash. Then removed the unwanted Labels (IMAP/Trash, IMAP/Sent & IMAP/Draft).

[Q] Mimicry 1.5.0 - Mail Setup?

Why cant I find many normal mail options and settings in this rom?
I cant move mails between folders
I cant choose the age of the downloaded mails and how long to keep them, after a couple weeks it deletes them even if I mark them as favourites!
I cant reply from the Recycle bin and I cant move those mails back to Inbox.
Is there any fix to this, or is just the mail app that sucks?

I found the Mail app to be a terrible drain on resources. I now route all my work mail through Gmail - it works significantly faster, removes the extra app from running and has the advantage of making all my work email nicely searchable. Set it up right and you can send from Gmail as another account too.
Additionally, I've shunted all my Facebook and Google+ notifications through Gmail and use Greenify to ensure the fb and G+ apps don't run in the background; the result has been a massive increase in performance, while still giving me access to the apps when I want them.
I dont have the Gmail app in Mimicry's rom, and I dont have my mail in Gmail. I like the mail app installed but is missing a million options and settings, Im just trying to find out if they are somewhere else or if there is a way to fix it. If there isnt I would also like to know if there is any other nice mail app available.

Thats the one Im trying right now. Is still missing the options to choose the age of downloaded mails, recover mails from trash folder and moving mails between folders but at least doesnt delete the old ones without asking and I can reply mails in the trash folder. It works well and fast and thanks to Nova I could change the horrible icon for the simple envelope one.
