[Solved] Anything to do with sound doesn't work. HELP! - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As a brief overview;
My phone started spitting out errors one day and I tried to turn it off and back on again - It would not get past the htc logo at this point.
I unlocked the bootloader by following one of the guides here and flashed cyanogenmod which took a little effort but I got it done. The problem is that after flashing cyanogenmod, anything to do with sound no longer worked. I can't make or receive phone calls, youtube videos won't launch, spotify WILL launch and will appear to be playing music but there is no sound.
I can receive text messages however and have cellular data and can connect to wifi, browse the internet etc.
I found a backup file for the h3g__001 online and restored it via backup in twrp but it hasn't helped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know nothing about cyanogenmod because I don't use one ..
Have you try reflash htc signed 6.13.771.4 firmware ?
You can get the fw_6.13.771.4.zip from my thread post #5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
but you need to relock bootloader because your device is S-On
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip fw_6.13.771.4.zip
you'll see ERROR/FAILED, repeat
fastboot flash zip fw_6.13.771.4.zip
fastboot reboot
No guarantee it will fix your problem but worth a try I guess.

You are honestly a rockstar.
Followed your instructions, worked like a charm!
I can't thank you enough.

[Q] Stock M7 Bootlooping-Unable to boot recovery

OK, I've been scouring the web for the entire day. (devoted my Sunday to resolving this issue and have failed.)
I have received a Verizon HTC One M7. My wife wants to use it as her daily.
It's completely stock. Locked bootloader, S-on, stock ROM, Stock recovery.
Here's the issue:
Loading the ROM it bootloops the white HTC logo. Booting recovery it does the same. Trying to Factory Reset gets the same results.
I can access the bootloader and engage fastboot and my PC detects the phone fine but I am not able to Unlock the bootloader. i believe this to be because of the Hboot version.
can't boot to ROM and can't unlock bootloader means I can't achieve S-off, therefore I can't flash a custom recovery to enable me to flash a custom ROM.
I'm not looking to necessarily have the phone unlocked, S-off and rooted. (That would be nice but not a priority)
I would be happy with it being all locked and stock IF IT WAS SIMPLY USABLE. My wife currently has a Samsung SGS4 she started using after she broke her HTC DNA. She doesn't like it and wants to go back to HTC desperately.
I would be happy to simply restore the stock recovery and ROM so that she can use it and I can have my Sundays back.
HELP!!!!
Here is the fastboot getvar all. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You could try finding the ota zip for 4.10.605.3. NOT the newest one. Do NOT use the new one. When you get the ota zip you can pull the firmware.zip out of that. Put it in your working fastboot directory
Then do
Fastboot oem rebootRUU
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Repeat the previous command if it tells you to flush immediately
Fastboot reboot

OK upon finding an OTA zip that I thought would work, I pulled the firmware.zip and flashed. It appeared to go fine.
I did have to repeat the flash zip command but it completed with no errors.
However, phone still bootloops. Still cannot access recovery.

Stuck with no OS & no recovery

I Was following the guide > http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/progress-fuu-m8-t2813792 to update my firmware and CID which i successfully did. As per the tutorial, it mentioned that i should copy a ROM on sdcard before procedding. Which i did but amazingly the ARWWizard also flashed my SDCARD (? Not sure but my card was empty).
Anyways, I was able to boot into the OS (old) and i realized i need to install recovery. I issued
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery <recovery_image>
I tried installing TWRP 2.8 but it remains stuck at "Entering Recovery", so i isntalled 2.7 and I was successfully in the recovery. There I wanted to cleaned everything, internal storage, cache, delvik cache etc (not microsd). And went on to menu to install OS from sdcard but it was empty.
I thought lets do the sideload with
Code:
adb sideload rom.zip
and got error Can not read rom.zip.
I changed the location of rom.zip to other location and did adb from that location but still no luck. I was under the impression that since i have installed recovery ... I can reboot ... I tried and now i am stuck at Android Boot loading screen ...
While on that screen, my computer shows that it is trying to install MTP drivers but it fails and hence now i can't use ADB to reboot or do anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

alright .. after struggling so much i am finally able to have my phone running. But i guess the ARUWizard didn't upgraded the firmware. The reason i am saying this is that I installed Viper4.1 ROM and it clearly stats in their FAQ that my WiFi wouldn't work if i don't have proper firmware.
Looking at this guide I am confused which firmware to install.

If you're using Viper, it's based on 4.16.401.10 so you need this FW package:
4.16.401.10_firmware.zip (rename it firmware.zip - not firmware.zip.zip!)
Flash it in RUU mode using fastboot flash zip firmware.zip. Once you've flashed the package it'll replace TWRP with the stock recovery so download TWRP again and flash when connected in the bootloader with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and you're good to go

Thanks. One question
What do you mean by RUU Mode ? do you mean flashing the firmware like this
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip fimrware.zip
fastboot reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
I really appreciate the help you guys are providing

Very nearly right...
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip fimrware.zip
[B]fastboot reboot-bootloader[/B]
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
You missed the dash
The firmware flash might need to be done twice. If it says it's failed and reboots the unit, do the same command again to flash it but if it says complete then reboot the bootloader to flash TWRP
Thanks ...
I got it working but now there are two weird issues.
1. My camera doesn't work. Whenever i click on HTC Camera, it shows a black screen (as if camera view is blocked, I can see on screen buttons and options but black background).
2. My phone doesn't recognize the SD Card which i was using before.
Can you post your output from fastboot getvar all (removing your IMEI and serial number) again?

I'm guessing you flashed TWRP again? That explains why the main-version is blank. The rest seems to be in order so not sure what the issue is now

my main version is blank ever since I started upgrading my phone. Even if you look at the posts which posted 3 days before (before upgrading) they all had blank main-version.
True. If you are willing to try putting your phone back to 100% you could use the guide in my signature and then at least you'll be back to a point where it should all work
okay ... from your post it seems like only devices with HTC_* CID's can be restored to stock. Given that I am supercid, I can write whatever CID I Can but my original cid was VODP001. Do i have to worry about that ? Would your method work on my device as well ?
Super CID means you can flash anything so just try it. OK, it'll go back to the unbranded build as opposed to the Vodafone build but that's not a bad thing

Your firmware appears to be up to date. Are you using an older version recovery? Update to TWRP 2.8.4.0 or 2.8.5.0, then try flashing a Lollipop ROM again.
i have TWRP 2.8.5.0 ! , Thanks For your concern
When I said Factory Reset/Wipe data in stock recovery in other thread, I meant stock recovery not TWRP. Did you really do that ?
The next thing you can try is to flash the signed firmware again .. it may fix your problem too.
If you can't find one, I have that firmware.

You read wrongly. For S-On device, can flash only a signed firmware. For your device version you can flash an untouched firmware that I have here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58769132&postcount=4591
1. Make a nandroid backup for the ROM that you have now (you need that later)
2. put your device in bootloader/fastboot mode
3. relock bootloader - fastboot oem lock
4. run these commands
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip 4.18.708.12_firmware.zip
fastboot flash zip 4.18.708.12_firmware.zip .....( again for the 2nd time)
fastboot reboot
5. check your wifi
6. If it's good then boot to bootloader, unlock bootloader with the unlock_code.bin
7. flash latest TWRP 2.8.5.0
8. restore your backup
If the wifi still no good ... try my backup that I linked above. If still no good ... I'm out of idea to help you.

Need some help

Guys i hope i am not breaking any rules or anything by posting this. i have an m8 which i rooted and managed to soft-brick. i managed to fix it, but i was unsure if flashing the htc rom was a good idea, so i went from 4.4.3(stock) to a custom 6.0 rom. but the wifi wont turn on. i tried following instructions from other threads in this forum but they did not work. i even flashed another rom and re-flashed my current one but no luck. any help would be appreciated.
Note: i am s-on with an unlocked bootloader
Your firmware is too low to run custom 6.0 ROM. You need to update firmware first.
Post here fastboot getvar all result without serial & imei no. We'll see what you need.
Read this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926362&postcount=4
ii am using a mac. is the command line the same as for windows?
AFAIK it's the same command lines except that you may have to write ./fastboot for fastboot command and ./adb for adb command
Read this for adb/fastboot for Mac if you don't have one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390995
i tried the command. it doesn't show any errors, but nothing shows up in return.
Put your device on bootloader/fastboot mode then connect to your Mac
run command : ./fastboot devices
see whether it returns your serial no. If no, you have connection issue.
I can't help much as I don't have a Mac. If you can get a PC, it's easier for me to help.
Or you can wait until someone familiar with Mac help you.
oh. tnx. ill try and get the pc. will windows xp be too old?

HTC One M8 - Having trouble updating to 6.0

Hi guys,
I have tried what seems like 10+ ROMS, I have flashed them using TWRP and the closest I have gotten to 6.0 was being stuck on the new google logo screen.
Currently I am running Cyanogenmod cm-12.1-2015090.
my getvar all is as follows,

I am now open to the idea of taking it back to stock, except I'm not sure how to do that either

Hi guys,
I have tried what seems like 10+ ROMS, I have flashed them using TWRP and the closest I have gotten to 6.0 was being stuck on the new google logo screen.
Currently I am running Cyanogenmod cm-12.1-2015090.
my getvar all is as follows,
(bootloader) version: 0.5

You need to update your firmware, and a ROM won't do that for you.
Download this firmware and place it into your fastboot folder. Then hook up your phone to your PC, and enter these commands:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip M8_6.12.1540.4_DevEd_NoWipe_TWRP3001.zip
The flash will halt at 75% to 90%. That's normal and gives you a chance to check the console output to make sure that it's safe to reboot. With most errors it is. If you get error 90, re-run the zip with the same "fastboot flash zip" command as above. Same goes for error 152.
After you've checked your console, enter fastboot reboot-bootloader to complete the firmware flash

Downloading it right now to try,
Once I update the firmware, is there a specific ROM that is tailored to my phone?
Also is my phone considered "Developer Edition"?
Thank you so much for the reply, I have spent hours on this and it seems I may be nearing the end.

Yes, your MID and firmware are DevEd.
As far as ROMs go, anything in the general M8 development forum (not in the Sprint or Verizon forums) should work for you

Thanks for all your advice, unfortunately no other ROM aside from Cyanogenmod will work.
I have updated the firmware and tried the HD ROM, Skydragon ROM, GPE ROM.. they all say installed but none will boot.
Edit: I had made a stock recovery from a long time ago and when I recover and try to do the OTA update the phone restarts and takes me to TWRP Recovery.
