Hi Everyone!
It was since yesterday that I was having a huge battery drain with the phone idling, I've now checked my battery stats since the last charge (finished 2h and 24 min ago) and I have 143 mah used by Runkeeper with 2h and 24min of GPS.
The strange fact is that I've used Runkeeper yesterday evening and after that I've force stoped it and disabled the location serivces. I've rechecked the services and they are disabled.
I'm not on Android N preview.

My battery life is usually excellent. But recently I noticed unusually high battery drain from Maps (navigation). It's as if Maps continued to run after stopping navigation and gps, and Maps itself.
Today, I think I got a confirmation.
1) I did 15 minutes of Maps navigation (total cpu time 6 min 19 sec). I then quit Maps and killed everything with System Panel. I saw that Maps had the highest percentage in battery history.
2) I checked the battery usage several hours later. Cell Standby was now the highest.
3) I checked again after several hours. Maps battery usage was again the highest.
At this point I hot-restarted.
Any idea how this could have happened?
[Edit: Headline with typing error: "17 hours" is correct. Sorry for that.]
Hi everyone!
As I am a new member I am not allowed to post to the Development thread ("[ROM-GingerBread] Ginger Villain 0.9 Camcorder working (24-01)") to ask my question.
I hope this is the right position for my question...
I flashed to "Ginger Villain 0.9" yesterday in the afternoon, unplugged my charger having a fully charged device close to midnight.
Nine hours later the battery was down to 51%. This was during night, where I was not using the device.
Background sync and WiFi was on, even if the WiFi-network is off in the night.
I did not switch off WiFi with the original Sense-ROM (Froyo) or with the LeeDroid (2.3d) I used before, but I had to charge the device all 2-3 days - using it more than I did today.
Coming to the questions:
Is this fast discharging only a problem on my device, or do others have this as well?
What could be the reason for this?
Hope you can help me.
I've had GV0.9 on for a few days and not noticed any real difference in battery life. Before that I was on LeeDroid, before that stock HTC.
First day on GV I got about 39 hours. Pretty light use but that does include some wifi, and GPS with a running app. Pretty much exactly what I was getting before.
Today it's showing about 60% charged after 15 hours with again some browsing, music playback and general use.
What radio and kernel do you have? Also on the about phone - battery use screen where does most of the usage come from?
Edited to add
Go into wireless and networks, wifi settings, menu and see if you have wifi sleep policy set to 'never' - this is a known battery drain issue

so if it is set to never it will drain your battery? so i should set it too the 15 minute option to conserve battery?
Night #2: Better, but still bad.
WiFi ist set to disconnect while screen is switched off.
I did not notice this option (Menu/Advanced) before, thanks for this hint.
Since the last unplugging from the charger the device discharged from 95% to 38% right now, in a time span of 14 hours.
Around 30min of this I was checking e-mails or browsing - all via mobile network.
WiFi was switched off the last night, I lost 27% in 8 hours.
Which e-Mail clients are you using?
I used the HTC-Sense mail with the stock ROM and LeeDroid, now I am using K-9 mail. Collecting mails is set to a 30min cycle. With K-9 Push (IMAP) is active, but I don't remind what was set with Push under Sense-Mail.
What are your settings?
Sorry, confused you there. You need to set the wifi sleep policy to 'never'. Anything else will cause battery drain.
Se if you have 100% cpu with quick system info!
Do you sync your Music ????

Thanks, setting WiFi sleep policy to "never" saved battery a lot!
I set this option and charged the phone to 100%.
It lost only 41% in 44 hours.
With WiFi on, even at night. As well with mobile data connection, IMAP Push, sending of 3 SMS and one 2-3 Minutes phone call.
No, I don't sync any music.
These WiFi-options are doing the exact opposite of what they are supposed to do?!
Well, I disabled GPS for a while and left my phone with 80 percent charge. After 3.5 hrs I checked the phone because i wanted to call my friend. Battery was drained to 35%. I was wondering what could have happened. My battery is brand new and original. Then i checked battery usage. I noticed that the process "Google Play Services" drained the battery. I think disabling GPS does something funny to the wakelock of the process and keeps using the CPU all the time.
It has been already fixed in the last build

Hello
I was so happy with this device's endurance when I first got it. I could almost stretch it to 2 days with 3 hours on screen time. But after the 4.4.3 update this is no longer the case
Here are my stats before the update:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzywJDML-7JkX1RHelRGY1hhaHM/edit?usp=sharing
As you can see in the first screenshot, average battery drain was 2.8%/h, a modest 4 hours on screen + 5.5 hours awake (listening to music) all this in 1d11h. App usage is at 41%. The second screenshot is even more awesome: 1.8%/h with 4h50m and 7 hours awake in 2d5h !!!! App usage at 34% (slightly lower).
Here's a recent screenshot after the update:

The problem: the system uses too much battery. I can confirm this because it drains like 2-3% doing nothing in an hour, whereas before 1% would drain in like 2 hours (on wifi). App usage way too high because of android kernel and other system services. I barely used the phone for 1h49m (on screen) + 2 hours of listening to music. I know the problem is with the top three in app usage because when I put it in deep sleep (using DS Battery saver) over night, it only drains 3-4% in 7-8 hours.
I tried disabling auto-sync - DIDN'T HELP, battery % was going down as before.
I also have disabled the following apps since i don't use them (the same ones I had before the update, so there should be no difference): Facebook, Fitbit, Google Play Music, Google+, Hangouts, Kid Mode, OneDrive, Skype, Twitter + some more.
I haven't installed anything recently that would impact the battery performance.

After my update i went into system recovery and wiped the system cache.
For me the device seems to have better battery life.
Ok, I did the same. Hope this fixes it.
For 30 mins lost 6% after it was charged to 100% ... No wi-fi, 3g, gps, locations , bluetooth with screen off, Wifi options: never wake. Economy mode on. All syncs are off. desabled programs google drive, news & weather, google now. Screen off - Android OS: 45% Android system: 25% / Screen on - Android system - 53%, HTC blinkfeed 11% (desabled) Android OS 4% / All time: Android system 44%, Android OS - 12%. The day before was even worse but than Mediaserver was draining my battery so i removed my old microSD card and Mediaserver stoped draining my batter. Last night I charged my battery to 100% and with minimal use of wifi, 3 phone calls, instagram and 6 mins facebook messenger i lost 40% for 10 hours after that i went to sleep for 8 hours and when i woke up the battery was on 3%?
I bought the phone 3 days ago. Its my first android phone
Try this
Change your current wallpaper with HTC default wallpaper.
I have same problem and when I do this, battery draining stops.
Sent from my HTC Desire 820 dual sim using xda premium
Solved!
I actually solved the problem after disabling Google now and reboot the device. Now my battery is on 10% with 22 hours of use and the last 9 hours was heavy use of 3g or wifi..
P.S. my wallpaper was static but not the HTC default wallpaper
