Check your APN settings using a third party app from the Play Store (there are several). Here's a link to a site with APN settings for Sprint as well as other networks:

Check your Carrier internet settings. APN, IP.
There are something you can do. Some gives you auto config when you text them with some code. Try googling your carrier 3g hsdpa internet settings.

You can find them under

Flashing baseband does nothing to have with this

Sony Xperia Ion LT28h Internet

Hello I'm a new Sony Xperia Ion LT28H user. My sim is sun cellular and its GPRS can't be activated. What are the settings and what should I do to be able to use internet on my phone. Please help me. Thanks!
You need to configure your carrier's apn settings to enable data.
Sent from my LT28h using xda app-developers app
thanks, but how?
I think its settings/xperia/
Btw, gprs is not mobile internet, its for ur location.
Settings>more(after data usage)>mobile networks>access point names. You need your carrier's settings though. Google them. Afterwards save the apn and tick enable data.

I think you're thinking GPS. GPRS is normally associated with 2G or 3G which doesn't use HSPA.

You're talking about gps Gprs is an old internet service LT28h uses HSPA+ or LTE
First of all confirm from ur carrier that gprs is activated or not, if yes then go to settings - xperia - Internet setting, it will automatically download the settings

I went to a Sun Cellular service center and they said their system is offline and it seems they are having problems. By the way when u said LT28h uses HSPA, does that mean that other procedures should be done to enable its mobile internet? Does it need a software to be installed?

It doesnt need new software, hspa is 3g internet(gprs is old very slow connection internet). To enable it just add your carriers apn settings

[Q] wifi tether for root v3.3-beta2 getting tmobile message.

Hi guys Ive been using wifi tether for root. Im on T-mobile's unlimited 4g network. For some reason I started getting the T-mobile message saying I don't have hotspot and I got a text saying I have reached my 500mb hotspot limit. Anyone getting this too? Maybe a fix?
I got that today, idk whats going on I use the wifi tether but not the hotspot
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
So has anyone found a solution for this, would really appreciate the help.

Hotspot = tether - no difference.
The reference to the 500mb limit is new - but have they throttled you yet? If not, just keep on trucking.
If they have, you might consider trying one of the custom ROM's that have native tethering build in. Or, maybe first try the APN Backup and Restore App. It has a modified APN that has worked well for me on the Stock ROM.

Got it yesterday as well using custom rom with tether built in and hotspot shield vpn app. Did T-Mobile find the loophole?
What I meant was that I was using the "wifi tether for root users" app and not the stock "t mobile hotspot" I know hotspot and tether is the same thing lol
Anyways.. today it said I hit my limit of 500MB and ive never used the stock hotspot app just the "wifi for root users"
So now I dont have wifi in my laptop and I have homework to turn in
Just to let you know I used cyanogenmod which has wifi tethering built in and thats when I hit the limit
What do you mean APN? how do I do that? Much help would be appreciated

He/she is talking about this app. But "NOTE: Starting with Android 4.0/ICS, 3rd Party apps don't have access to write APN settings, hence this app no longer works for restoring APN backups as a normal app. You can convert it to a System app using Titanium Backup on a rooted phone and use. Instructions:
- Open Titanium Backup
- Go to backup/restore tab
- Find APN Backup & Restore on the list
- Long press on the app when you find it
- Select Convert to system app
- Open APN Backup & Restore
- Click menu and disable ICS check
But... @gaww I really don't see how this can help. How would one use a "modified APN" if no backup is created. The app is only a backup/restore app if im not mistaken...
I say we both use it and see if that can fix the problem?

The developer of the app also created a modified APN which need to be downloaded and put in the AppBackupRestore folder after you have installed the app per the above. I recommend backing up the stock APN(s).

Does your LTE work with this custom APN?
Don't think so but no way to know. It is an act of God that I even get 4g in western North Carolina - lol.
One more thing. When used with stock ROM, could not turn on tethering with Stock settings - had to install and use Tethering Widget to turn it on and off. I was able to turn it on and off with regular settings on custom ROMs though.

I rooted my phone then I Installed Wifi tether for root users and Hideman (gives 4 free hours per day of VPN service).
First turn on the Hideman
Second turn on the Wifi tether
third surf the web (do we still say that)
I Verified with the t-mobile data and it all is going toward my unlimited plan instead of the 500mb hotspot they give.

If you have an LTE phone with LTE service then fast.t-mobile.com should work. if not try the epc.t-mobile.com which the old hspa+ apn i believe
This happened to me as well, it looks like t-mobile has been cracking down on unauthorized tethering... Is there any way actually around it? I've also tried the VPN with the Trev Wifi app and nothing.

If you are rooted, ensure that you use SuperSU 2.78 SR5. Otherwise connection issues are likely.
Not rooted
Probably Play store in 7.0+ is following the Apple App store way be restricting app updating using data.
Hope it helps. Thank

this is because of some bug in nougat which doesn't allow apps to be updated or downloaded over mobile data in roaming. this has been acknowledged by google and i hope they or oneplus or some other dev comes up with a fix.

If you are using Jio it's a known bug that when you are in roaming, play store didn't work AFAIK. Don't know whether it exist with other networks.

Its not a jio bug it has to do with nougat as i mentioned in my post above. Nougat doesnt allow any play store app to be downloaded or updated while on data roaming. Jio on roaming worked fine on 3.2.8
