USB C to HDMI - HTC 10 Accessories

Has anyone gotten one to work I bought 2 from Amazon and none seem to work. Maybe I thought wrong but thought HTC 10 has displayport output.
Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk

I tried one at work last week, worked fine. Not sure what kind i got, but was not a problem.

OK thanks... I'll probably go to Best Buy and see if I can test one out there. Hope I don't have a bad port

I've tried 2. One worked, one didn't. Both were designed for macbooks, so ymmv.

I will try this out when I get the chance.

Tried one at the Computex last WE, for MacBook. Didn't work.
And after I tried the HTC10 and put it back to the MacBook it didn't work at all anymore.

damn thats not good news. still haven't had the time to head to local bestbuy. Hoping someone got one to work and point to an amazon link really miss having to show movies (for my kids) on the screen. Still have my MHL adpater for htc m9.

Adapter needs to use display port protocol, not mhl. Some adapters (USBC to HDMI) will use mhl internally and won't work (to my knowledge). See USB-C thread in 'Real Life'? section.

Yes I know can't use MHL for HTC 10.. Just saying I miss that feature. And almost nagging at me still is the MHL cable. starring at me saying why did you get of the M9 [emoji14] you could be watching videos on the 70inch right now.

Buy your nagging mhl cable a baby sister; a USB-C to HDMI port adapter / hub. It uses display port protocol and supports 4k. Adapter also includes USB 3.0 host port (so OTG) and 2nd USB-C port (for charger connection, I think optional, but I always use). Charge phone and watch at same time. See referenced thread for source. Win-win but approx $30. Need standard HDMI cable. Works well for me.

I ran into the same problem the mac pro adapter, it would charge or display not both. I went this route Microsoft - Wireless Display Adapter V2 receiver - Dark-Titanium and use HTC connect. It works great.

Just curious... you've had no problem charging this way? I wasn't sure if the 10 could take a regular USB-C charger or if it needed a QC compatible charger.

Partial answer. The HTC-10 does not need QC2 charger, just might charge slower or at various rates supplied by charger. I use several different chargers I had for my micro USB phones. Both using micro-USBC adapters, and USB-C cable direct. What I haven't tried (per your question), is fully charging via the mentioned display adapter. I doubt that the will recognize it as QC2. I will try this with the HTC supplied charger.

Hi

No Audio out via HDMI on this product. There is audio just does not work on my monitor via HDMI but works fine on TVs.
Video Output was 1080p @60fps
Sorry for the bad video; as it was taken with my Nexus 7.

Thanks for this, will be ordering one myself now.
edit: no audio out on this device, well then that sucks. Not good for watching video, yah I know I probably can use headphone jack for that but should work that way in my opinion. guess I'll still be on the hunt for a simple HDMI and audio output like the good old MHL adapter.

Is this available anywhere else? I was hoping to find this or a similar device on Amazon or something but nothing else has been confirmed to be compatible. Is your experience with this device still a positive one??
Also, I am assuming that if you want to supply charging power to this device you need to use a non-QuickCharge charger as supplying greater than 5V to the electronics in this device would be bad...? What about still using legacy USB-A to USB-C cables (like the one that came with the HTC 10) with the 56K Ohm resister?

I use mine all the time at work for about 3-7 hours a night (5 nights a week) - have it plugged into spare monitor to watch youtube etc.
I using the default charger that came with the HTC 10 and only gets slightly warm (charger & adaptor) when I been playing games for a hour or two.
Been thinking about purchasing another one as a backup.

[Q] Just ordered MHL-HDMI cable - will it transmit Spotify to my AV receiver?

I'm looking for a way to play both Spotify from my SGS2 through my Onkyo AV receiver to my speakers, as well as just play videos from my SGS2 through the Onkyo so that I can watch videos from sites like charlierose.com (which uses flowplayer), etc. on my TV.
Should this work? Anyone received their cable from play.com sooner than expected? Hoping it doesn't take the 1-2 weeks.
And what about this cable ?
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ca-156-usb-hdmi-adapter-cable-for-nokia-53688
It is for Nokia but Nokia also supports MHL so I assume it can be used for the Galxy S2 ??
That doesn't look like a MHL cable to me; the small end should have a 5-pin micro USB, and the MHL-to-HDMI conversion requires a bridge chip, which needs to be powered, which is why the other MHL adapters require you to plug in a charger.

MHL adapter for HTC One?

Does the HTC One use a standard Micro-USB (5-pin) to MHL adapter?
If so, does HTC make any official adapters?
I've found an older model called MTC AC M490 (for HTC Evo) but it's discontinued. I'm surprised because it has fantastic reviews and I'm guessing it would still work on the HTC One...
If not, can anybody recommend me a good adapter that can also charge the phone?
I ordered this one 3 weeks ago when it was in stock for less than £2.
Works with my HOX and One

If he's like me and owns the Pioneer appradio 2, the MHL adapter is practically a must with arliberator. It's not the only way to go, but works the best hands down.
Just saying.
Has anyone found an adapter that isn't laggy?
Managed to sort it out, i had to turn off game mode as the tv was trying to draw extra frames.
All running sweet now with no lag.
Pipeline makes a very nice MHL adapter. I say because I have for the LTE and it's a solid piece of tech
Shifted from the bottom of the rabbit hole
Mhl 1.0 supports 1080p at 30fps
mhl 2.0 supports 1080p at 60fps
Our phone is 2.0 capable. If you already bought an mhl adapter for your phone prior to owning this phone chances are it's 1.0. I am using the adapter I used for my Evo LTE and it looks great.

Can anyone recommend an MHL adapter on Amazon? Also, I didn't see an MHL cable as an accessory for the One on the HTC website.
Also, I haven't had a phone that supports MHL before - does it require a power cord for the adapter? I've read mixed stories about some devices requiring the adapter to be connected to a power source as well versus other devices not requiring the extra power source/cable.
Is the TV remote able to send signals to the HTC One, as described in:

The TV remote will control the connected device with guaranteed mixed manufacturer interoperability (CEC).[7] (Also see Silicon Image's press release about MHL on December 14, 2010). Note: The built-in Remote Control Protocol(RCP) function allows you to use the remote control of the TV to operate the MHL mobile device through TV’s Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) function.

Also... I sometimes use an HDMI to DVI adapter to use a computer monitor as a display for some devices that output HDMI (like say for instance my PS3). Would this have any chance of working or is the signaling just entirely different? (ie connecting HTC One to a DVI computer monitor)

The first implementations use the most popular mobile connection (micro USB) and the most popular TV connection (HDMI). Other than the physical connectors, USB and HDMI technology are not being used. It is exclusively MHL signaling through the connectors and over the cable.

I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/161009409501
It is NOT mhl 2.0, tested the mhl adapter with epic citadel. When not connected, I get get an average of 57 fps on the benchmark. When connected to TV @ 1080p, its locked at 30fps max.
I can confirm that the HTC One does NOT require a power source connected to the MHL adapter to work. Older phones needed a power source

Where is there information on the One being MHL 2.0 capable? As far as I know the MHL consortium have confirmed the S4 as the first (and presently only) MHL 2.0 spec device on their twitter feed. Not the sort of news they would ordinarily omit.
On wikipedia both MHL and HTC One pages list the device specifically as MHL 2.0. HTC's site say MHL capable but doesn't say 1.0 or 2.0. I guess I can't find an official source of it saying that it is 2.0. If this is 2.0 then of course the One was the first phone released with MHL 2.0.

Yeah, the Wikipedia page is all I could find. Personally I find the MHL Consortium a much more credible source, and they say the S4 is the first MHL 2.0 spec device. I don't think the One has it.

If your TV has an MHL port, passive MHL cable and you have an adapter, the extra micro usb on the adapter should be ok for USB OTG.
Sorry, but this a dumb, MHL noob question. Will any old micro-usb MHL adapter work, or do I need one specifically for a Sony phone or something?
Thanks

As a minimum.
Will let you use you existing micro usb cables
Will fast charge
Supports connecting your ecisting micro otg gizmos
Tronsmart is cheaper and also supports qc but not otg.
Watch out for junk c cable. Bad fit and trickle charge only.

I'm pretty sure if you have the cable you don't need an extra program. It should just work.
Yep. And if your tv supports it wireless display too. Thought it would only work with LG tvs as that is what LG implied but I can sync to my samsung JS9500 just fine. Lag isn't too bad. And when doing screen changes or apps it looks like graphics glitch out but they don't. Haven't tested YouTube or my recorded videos yet. Have more important stuff to do first.

You guys won't be able to mirror those apps unless you've rooted your phone and found a way to patch the application to make it think there is no secondary display connected. The reason you're getting nothing from these apps is they detect the presence of a secondary display, and since the phone cannot comply with HDCP over the adapter cable (not supported), it will not display correctly (black screen where the picture should be or no display at all). I've had a phone in the past with a miniHDMI port and I've used a proper mini-to-full HDMI cable without issue to watch Netflix, but that was a straight HDMI connection with HDCP. Netflix and them take anti-piracy seriously, yo!
