Restart Kodi 'shortcut' and other stuff (solved) - Fire TV Themes and Apps

If you're like me, Kodi gets hung-up sometimes. If you sideload 'Terminal Shortcut Pro' from the play store, you can create a shortcut icon on the home screen using Nova Launcher (and other launchers I presume) to force-stop Kodi and restart it with one click. You can also use the app to launch your saved commands. And the app works perfectly on the FireTV including navigation with the remote.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.hp.terminalshortcut
Open the app and click the plus sign to add a new command, type the below commands and tell it ro run as su.
Then create a shortcut on the homescreen to your specific command using Nova.
RESTART KODI:
am force-stop org.xbmc.kodi
am start -n org.xbmc.kodi/.Splash
Other commands you can create shortcuts for:
KILL-ALL (kills all background apps):
am kill-all
And I'm sure there are other terminal 'shortcut' commands that folks can think of...delete thumbnails, block updates, etc.

Has anyone found an app that can do this yet? Without using the shortcuts/different home launcher? I have been looking for a app which kills all apps running or something similar but have not had any joy for my Rooted Fire Tv2?

You can use Terminal Shortcut for that i think. Just create the am kill-all command. You will just open the app and then click the command. Have to be rooted for it to work tho im pretty sure...

I tried both commands today, but just comes back with an error???? I'm rooted, on AFTV2 with Busybox, & kodi running off my SD card, I typed the commands exactly as you wrote but dunno why it wont work? Have you any ideas mate?

I installed this appmanager which allows you to launch apps then go to a settings menu to force closed pretty quick.

did you mount /system in rw mode? (it's ro by default)
U dont have write access to system partition in normal use if i read the tutorial right. U have to do it with an update.zip (editing the update script) or with adb both u have to do in recovery menu from modaco i think. Tell me if i am wrong.

Damn, you're right. Previously, I had deleted an .apk just to check if it's working, then reinstalled the app right away.
But I just tested now, it looks like after a reboot, the .apk magically reappears, and the application is running as usual

Try this: Boot in recovery menu and try the following commands:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/APP.apk
adb shell rm /data/app/APP.apk
where APP.apk is the filename of the apk with the .apk extention, remember case-sensitive!
for example:
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/FriendStream.apk
adb shell rm /system/app/FriendStream.odex
take a look before if your app has a odex or try this: (here u need only one command)
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/*FriendStream*
Good luck and have fun =)
Edit: Just find a topic =)

I'm trying to do these things in windows at the moment. No issues getting in the recovery with the windows scripts. But when I try to open a ADB Shell after I've gone to recovery I can't really do anything with it and the recovery hangs (not controllable with the track pad).
Anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong?
You're not doing anything wrong, from what I've seen opening a new adb instance on Windows will kill the server created by the .bat file used for recovery... which means the connection to the device is lost. I haven't looked into it further, but it might be fixeable somehow.
Ah I see, so basicly you undo the patched recovery by opening a new session. It does work properly under Linux then? I run ubuntu on my netbook so It's not a big issue anyway. Thanks for the tip, gonna try under linux now!
I'm having the same problems as:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...co-com/307401/removing-sys-apps/#entry1256015
I removed a load of HTC widgets but I get strange entries on the widget menu. Anyone know how to get rid of these?
Also, I removed Stocks (.apk and .odex), now I get a force close on 'Accounts & sync'. Anyone know how to remove Stocks properly?
Cheers.
After running the bat file to get into recovery, start a new cmd prompt in windows and use again adb-nilezon for shell commands instead of ordinary adb, and it wont be killed.
This has worked for me atleast

The best, foolproof, failsafe way is to remove them from the rom before installing it... and remember that some services are still required, weather you use them or not.
But, if a system app is already installed you need to remove:
the apk from /system/app
the data from /data/data/appname
the cache from /cache/dalvik-cache
Do not remove Accounts & Sync...
Thanks for the answer.
I guess now is a good time to bake my own ROM!

[Q] Zynga app won't stay disabled?

I disabled the Zynga app that's on the Note, but it seems to return to app drawer after a while.
Does anyone know why?
So far, this is the only disabled app that seems to be doing this.
I don't have any Zynga games installed.
I noticed the same thing, so after I rooted my GN2 I uninstalled the Zynga app using Titanium backup

I don't know if this is the cause of the problem, but I just realized I did have a zynga game installed (draw something). I uninstalled it so hopefully this will prevent the zynga app from returning.
I'd rather not root unless it's absolutely necessary.
I don't have any zynga games installed and everytime I restart the device this pesky zynga app keeps coming back! Sooooo annoying!

zynga sucks. Marc Pincus is a douche.
If you are rooted then you can remove this application using Android Emulator, Busybox or via ADB shell.
Using Android Emulator, Busybox or via ADB shell, browse to "/system/app" and delete Zynga_TMO.apk. Also verify if there is any instance of this app in "/data/app directory".
To delete it from /system/app run the following commands. (For consistency, I have included all commands within double quotes, run these commands without double quotes.)
1) type "su" (hit enter) -> switch user , your shell should change from $ to #
2) type "mount -o remount,rw -t yaffsw /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system" (hit enter) -> mounts /system drive in read/write mode
3) type "cd /system/app" (hit enter) and then type "rm Zynga_TMO.apk" (hit enter) or type "rm /system/app/Zynga_TMO.apk" (hit enter).
4) type "cd /data/app" (hit enter), type "ls" (hit enter) and verify if this application is listed.
5) If listed delete it by typing "rm Zynga_TMO.apk" (hit enter).
6) type "mount -o remount,ro -t yaffsw /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system" (hit enter) -> mounts /system drive back to read only mode.
Reboot and this app should not bother you anymore. :good:

[Q] OUYA video stream choppy on ethernet

Does anyone know how to fix this stuttering the OUYA does when playing video stream?
I have the latest firmware and "XBMC for OUYA" but video streams are still doing this for a while when starting to play and then randomly during the movie. Thanks for any reply.
The problem is not with xbmc but a firmware bug made in the 24th July update.
There is no fix unless you are rooted.
It has been raised with the ouya team but it doesn't seem a priority to them.
If rooted how i can fix that problem?

Please post results if it works for you.
Thanks guys! This appears to have worked. And if it did it appears to have worked like a charm.
Here's what I did:
I've been using apk extractor to install apks on to my rooted ouya.
I used a APK extractor to extract Android terminal emulator and put it on my network share with my phone.
Then using es file explorer on my new ouya grabbed the Android terminal emulator apk off my network share and installed it.
I open the emulator on my ouya and gave superuser access then type "su" and enter key.
Then the command:
echo 32768 > /proc/sys/vm/min_free_kbytes
I have been using the YouTube plugin on XBMC with the highest video quality setting to test.
Thanks again for the reply and I hope this help somebody out.

thanks for the instructions made it very easy to do. I can finally watch video addons from xbmc and transfer files through ftp without the ouya locking up.
I can't seem to get this done. I tried using Android Terminal Emulator on OUYA but I can't type anything. I also use a command window and use adb to sideload apps. Can I use this method to enter this command into OUYA? I tried but it says The system cannot find the path specified. How do I do this?

you type the command into terminal emulator that is running on your ouya
I keep a plain USB cord keyboard handy, i turn off the ouya, then unplug it from the back, plug in the keyboard, then fire everything back up.
when it's back on launch terminal emulator or install if you haven't and you should be able to use the keyboard you have plugged in to type the command into terminal emulator.
Does this still work?

[Root] System Debloat script

Hello,
I've created a simple .bat file which can be run from a Windows computer while your phone is booted into TWRP to remove various apps that I consider bloat. I have not encountered any issues in my usage the past week, but your usage pattern may vary. This is tested on a G8142 running Oreo 47.1.A.5.51, but there is no reason it should not work on other versions. This is limited to Windows, but the commands are all ADB-specific and have nothing to do with Windows, so it should also work on Mac & Linux by changing the file extension. I take no responsibility if this messes up your phone! But, all changes this script makes can be reversed by flashing system & oem with Newflasher.
Note: This script will remove Sony Home! Please make sure you have an alternate launcher installed or remove that app from the script!!! Additionally, the app removes Google Messages, Sony Clock, Sony Calendar, Chrome, Sony Email, Gmail, Google, various international keyboard layouts, and Text-to-speech functionality. All of these, or alternatives, can be re-installed through the Play Store though.
To Modify:
The .bat file can be modified by opening with any text editor. All apps are labeled with their name, as below:
::Google Messages
adb shell rm -rf /system/app/Messages
adb shell rm -rf /data/user/0/com.google.android.apps.messaging
To prevent this app from being uninstalled, just delete those lines.
To add an app that is not on the list, use an app such as App Inspector to find the directory the app is installed to and the directory its data is located in, then add those to the list as below:
adb shell rm -rf <app Source Dir, excluding last /******.apk>
adb shell rm -rf <app Data Dir>
In some instances, such as if the app has been updated from the Play Store, you may need to remove it from /data/app/ and from /system/app/ (or /system/priv-app) as below:
::Sony What's New
adb shell rm -rf /system/priv-app/sonyentrance2-release
adb shell rm -rf /data/app/com.sonymobile.entrance*
adb shell rm -rf /data/user/0/com.sonymobile.entrance
The * above is used as a wildcard, meaning that any folder that matches everything before the * will be deleted. This is needed because random strings of letters and numbers are added to the end of the app name when installed to /data/app/. Please be careful with your * use, since using something like "adb shell rm -rf /data/app/com.sonymobile.*" would clear out several apps' data!
Instructions:
Power down the device
Reboot into TWRP by holding Power and Volume Down (phone must not be plugged into computer yet)
Attach phone to computer
Unzip JunkCleaner.zip (this is not a flashable zip!) and extract JunkCleaner.bat
Move JunkCleaner.bat to a folder that contains adb.exe
Double click on JunkCleaner.bat and let run to completion
You're all set!
Known Issues:
Swiftkey may force close on you, to fix this, clear the cache from Settings -> Apps & notifications -> App Info -> Swiftkey Keyboard -> Storage -> Clear Cache
You will see a notification that com.sonymobile.rcahandler has force closed when you first boot the phone. This can be fixed by turning on Ultra Stamina mode, turning it off, then rebooting a second time after Ultra Stamina Mode has already rebooted your phone.
To Return to Stock/Reinstall any apps:
To get back to stock, just use Newflasher to reinstall system & oem partitions. This will restore all apps that this script removes.
Please let me know if there are any apps that you have safely removed that are not in my list, as I'm sure the amount of apps can be whittled down even further.
just what i needed. thank you!
and what about those system apps like basic sleep mode and crash monitor? doe they have any effect on phone after uninstalling? going to flash Oreo now and will use your debloater
Should not be any harm, no. The Basic Sleep Mode Apps are for Android's Screensaver (under Settings -> Display -> Screen Saver), which is a bit useless without an AMOLED display since it will just kill your battery. The Crash Monitor is used by Sony for getting diagnostic info in case of a crash, but we're out of warranty by unlocking the phone, so no real effect there either.
UPDATE:
just flashed this on nougat. successfully removed all apps specified. i edited the script and excluded xperia home, album and music. works as expected. maybe you can try to find more useless apps that doesnt do anything but hog up the Ram and battery.
UPDATE 2:
used this on Oreo and everything is also good there. however, there are some apps that cannot be uninstalled either from root uninstallers or by deleting their folder. maybe you can add these apps to the junkcleaner :
Audio settings (clear audio+ DSEE etc)
com.qualcomm.qti.telephonyservice (tell me if it is important to keep)
download manager (guess its important to keep)
home network (tell if important to keep)
shell (tell if imp)
software update app (probably not used since unlocked bootloader, other apps can be updated from playstore)
wap push (tell if needed to keep)
will be even more thankful
much respect from me
For anyone that doesn't want to use this but still want to easily debloat many apps at once.
Titanium Backup has an (un)installer feature which lets you pick all the apps you want and then hit (un)install.

It may be that because Amazon Prime Video is located in the /oem partition rather than /system/app or /system/priv-app, Titanium Backup does not have code to grant write access to that directory, though I have not tested myself. Even then, the benefit of this script is that it saves you from having to manually delete ~50+ apps each time a monthly patch comes out.

Can you make a TWRP flash version of your script, I think its a lot easier if its done that way.

Sorry to hear it was giving you troubles! I have a flashable version that you can try that's attached to this post.
@Patrck744
New flashable is attached!
I've attached a new flashable version of the script to this post--just stick it on your phone and flash in TWRP. I've added a few more apps to it compared to my original script and have also improved deletion of apps which may have been updated. I'm still planning to add more apps to the list and will update the main post with instructions on modifying the flashable zip and update the original .bat file once I've done some testing on removing additional apps.
Thanks, you're doing good work!
I tried uninstalling majority of the junk using TitaniumBackUp but I just got a bootloop. I'll test it and let you know if there are any issues with flashable version.

[ADB][GUIDE]Swap back/contextual menu keys for gesture nav bar

For those wanting to have the back button on the right side (where it naturally belongs ), it's simple with ADB:
Like stock spacing:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space[0.25WC],contextual;home;back,space[0.25WC]"
or
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar 'space[0.25WC],contextual;home;back,space[0.25WC]'
More comfy:

or
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar 'space, contextual;home;back, space'
To return back to stock:
Code:
adb shell settings delete secure sysui_nav_bar
If i try this command
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space, contextual;home;back, space"
this is the output. How i can solve it?
/system/bin/sh: home: not found
/system/bin/sh: back,space: not found
P.S. Now it works. The solution is to use this command:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar 'space, contextual;home;back, space'

Either put adb.exe to Windows PATH, or you must change directory before running adb (for example "cd c:/platform-tools").

You have probably some unusual language/regional settings on your PC. Try it this way:
Code:
1. adb shell
2. settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space,contextual;home;back,space"
..
3. exit

WORKS!!!!!! :good:
thanks!!
just by curiosity, is it possible to move the task killer/cleaner button from the left to the right when i open the recent app list?
to avoid having to scroll left through the whole list, and have direct access to clean

Dont kill app, they will use more power when relaunching them, they use almost no power when in background.

No idea, I wasn't even aware of this button. As antoine62 said, it's totally useless. If you need to kill an app, just swipe it away from recent menu (or click on details and "force stop" if the app works with background service).
Sorry, my translation may not have been clear, in french we have the "effacer tout" (clear all) button on the left of the recently used apps, i took a screenshot.
And as a right hand writer, i find it useless to swipe all the list to the left before accessing this button, i would like to put it directly on the right of the list so when i swipe up from the bottom, i Can clear the list immediatly.

That button should not be really used at all, it just kills all cached apps. Stock Android is pretty good at memory management. There is really no point in force killing all the apps manually.

I don't have Android 10 yet and it seems that Google killed this feature (why oh why). I found this app which might help, give it a try and let us know. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nu.nav.bar
Hi,
Today i updated my phone to android 10 and I have same problem as arjo656. I tried app that you posted here, but now I have app's buttons and aslo original android's buttons. It looks weird. Didn't you find any way how to change it by adb again?
Hi, I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/button-nav-hack-t3997527 to get back the three buttons (as in the previous versions of Android), and wanted to combine the two "hacks" to get back the 3 nav bar buttons but with the back button on the right, and the contextual on the left, but when I use your command via adb, the contextual button disappears, even tho in the command it's still there, I attach two pics to understand better

Nope, Google removed the interface for navbar customization in Android 10. I just keep stock 2 buttons navbar and use "Edge gestures" app for one hand operation (it's even on sale right now, grab it while you can).

For 3 buttons navbar replace "contextual" with "recent". For example:
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space, recent;home;back, space"
Edit: if you want to keep "contextual" button as well, this might work (can't test it as I'm on Android 10 already):
Code:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "contextual;space, recent;home;back, space"
