I disabled the Zynga app that's on the Note, but it seems to return to app drawer after a while.
Does anyone know why?
So far, this is the only disabled app that seems to be doing this.
I don't have any Zynga games installed.
I noticed the same thing, so after I rooted my GN2 I uninstalled the Zynga app using Titanium backup

I don't know if this is the cause of the problem, but I just realized I did have a zynga game installed (draw something). I uninstalled it so hopefully this will prevent the zynga app from returning.
I'd rather not root unless it's absolutely necessary.
I don't have any zynga games installed and everytime I restart the device this pesky zynga app keeps coming back! Sooooo annoying!

Same here! Also the T-mobile My Account comes back too!
I've try disabling from the applications settings, and also tried freezing them through Titanium backup! They pop right back up after reboot. This reminds me of PC viruses...

Same boat for me. Disabled both apps, and once I do a restart they come back up.

zynga sucks. Marc Pincus is a douche.
If you are rooted then you can remove this application using Android Emulator, Busybox or via ADB shell.
Using Android Emulator, Busybox or via ADB shell, browse to "/system/app" and delete Zynga_TMO.apk. Also verify if there is any instance of this app in "/data/app directory".
To delete it from /system/app run the following commands. (For consistency, I have included all commands within double quotes, run these commands without double quotes.)
1) type "su" (hit enter) -> switch user , your shell should change from $ to #
2) type "mount -o remount,rw -t yaffsw /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system" (hit enter) -> mounts /system drive in read/write mode
3) type "cd /system/app" (hit enter) and then type "rm Zynga_TMO.apk" (hit enter) or type "rm /system/app/Zynga_TMO.apk" (hit enter).
4) type "cd /data/app" (hit enter), type "ls" (hit enter) and verify if this application is listed.
5) If listed delete it by typing "rm Zynga_TMO.apk" (hit enter).
6) type "mount -o remount,ro -t yaffsw /dev/block/mtdblk3 /system" (hit enter) -> mounts /system drive back to read only mode.
Reboot and this app should not bother you anymore. :good:

zynga sucks. almost every one of their apps are coded to always run. i don't know why they choose to force this upon you, but you should uninstall it. i don't like having apps on my device that do not obey the permissions i give them. just something eerie about it and intruding.

Ok, to save some people some time here for rooting and opening it up to non-market apps on your bravo, and probably any motorola AT&T device.
1. Z4Root is the easiest way to root since you just get it from the market. One buttons press then done.
2. to modify the settings.db in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/ use the SuperOneClick which you can get here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
3. I used root explorer, which you can get from the market and just edited the /system/etc/motorola/com.android.providers.settings/secure.mkitso
and /system/etc/motorola/com.motorola.android.providers.settings/settings.mkitso files in place. Copying them, editing them, and chmodding them didn't seem to work for me for whatever reason. The way I did it, you don't have to do anything other than edit the file in text editor and factory reset your phone.
Rooted mine the other day using the Droid 2 root method at modmymobile.
I can't post links yet, so here's the instructions:
dragonius said:
Setup:
- Make sure you have ADB installed properly and the latest Motorola drivers.
- Download attached archive
- Extract to a directory, I used C:\Droid2Root
- Make sure you have USB degugging enabled
- Change connection to PC Mode
Process:
- Open Command Prompt (Start - Run - cmd - Enter)
- adb devices (to verify the connection)
- cd C:/Droid2Root
- adb push Superuser.apk /sdcard/Superuser.apk
- adb push su /sdcard/su
- adb push busybox /sdcard/busybox
- adb push rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
- adb shell
- cd data/local/tmp
- chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
- ./rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
- Let the process run until the prompt returns you to C:/Droid2Root (be patient, it takes a while, but does happen. If not, reboot phone and try again.)
- adb devices (to verify the connection)
- adb shell (you should now have a # prompt)
- mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- cp /sdcard/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk
- cp /sdcard/su /system/bin/su
- cp /sdcard/busybox /system/bin/busybox
- chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
- chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox
- mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- exit
Once you have achieved root, to update the Superuser.apk to the latest version, run these commands:
- adb shell
- su
- mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
- rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
- pm uninstall com.noshufou.android.su
Then search on the market for Superuser and download the one by ChainsDD. Confirmed working on latest Droid2 2.2 OTA & the new leaked 2.3.15 OTA.

I just bought this phone for my younger brother and I'm impressed. I have a Droid Incredible and its just as smooth. I also verified that the Z4root app from the marketplace roots the phone.
Did anyone get it unlocked yet
Yeah, it's a great phone. I'm trying to get the settings.db thing to work so we can install non-market apps, but it doesn't seem to be working. I got the db modded and put back in place, but I still don't see the option in the application manager screen.
IMO this is the #2 android phone on AT&T next to the captivate. that SAMOLED is great and the GPU on the captivate is top notch.
Anyway, if anyone can assist on the non-market app thing that would be great.
So far, I have rooted with Z4Root, removed the AT&T crapware, installed the MarketAccess to get around the stupid AT&T market filters. Last thing is to get the non-market apps going. After that it's a matter of waiting for this device to gain popularity and some custom ROMs.
I managed to get my Bravo to install non-market apps using:
1. SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse
2. Click Here
I am not sure if just step 2 alone would be OK though.
Remember, you have to factory reset after you have finished with step 2.
Good Luck!
I edited my original post with the steps and tools I used to get the phone rooted and non-market unlocked.
Wait so can some explain how to unlock it?

No problem
I'm lost here,
Downloaded z4root onto my phone because it's not available on Market,
but it won't let me run the z4root.apk because it's not a market app.
total newb here, so any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Nevermind, got z4 to install using Android Central's Sideload Wonder Machine, then rooted my phone no problem, installed TiTanium backup, and rid of the bloatware.
Phone processes quicker, from settings, fetching list of running apps, data manager, manager etc, list loads much quicker now.
How did you go about getting rid of the garbage-ware? curious.
Hi I'm posting here in hopes to get a response because I cannot seem to get a response on the S1C forum. I rooted with z4root but cannot get non market apps enabled using S1C. I have .net framework 4.0 using vista and the motorola drivers from their site. I get as far as "getting mount path" and then it fails. Am I missing something or should this be working for me. And if so, what could be the problem? Many thanks.
SideloadWonderMachine worked for me, give it a shot. 2 clicks to add an app. Pretty foolproof (I am a fool).
Rooted my Bravo using adb install z4root (linux PC) then ran z4root from phone, worked great.
just rooted Bravo using Droid2Root files and manual ADB commands, from the thread that Gumpo10k shared in this thread, up above. Worked great, now I need a good 2.2 ROM to get tethering working.
I've recently rooted my Desire Z and flashed Virtuous G-lite on it. One thing I really miss is an FM Radio app like the one of HTC Sense. I'm really searching for an app that receives FM, and not streams it over the internet.
I've searched the market but I haven't found anything, XDA forums had lots of hits but nothing that resolved my issue. Then I got a suggestion someone might be able to make an APK out of the Sense FM Radio.
So basically my question: Is there an app which alows me to receive FM Radio in the market? Or could anyone please wrap up an .apk from stock HTC Sense so I could try that out?

poo. make sure permissions are correct.
I don't ever use the FM radio so I'm not really familiar with how it works or if it relies on files outside of the apk to work. I do know that it requires bluetooth & headphones (headphones are used as antenna).
let me do some digging and I'll post back if I find anything.
I haven't got Root Explorer, but ROM Manager had a button Fix Permissions that should fix it too. After that I rebooted (ROM Manager suggested that), I enabled bluetooth, plugged in my headphones and still get instant FC when launching the app.
I will get back to it tomorrow, thanks for helping!

yes, rom mgr fix permissions works as well. I just hate using it because most of the time I only need to fix permissions for one or two apps at a time, and in that case it's easier to just know the chmod command (see below).
how did you "install" the app? did you place it on your sdcard and install it that way? or did you push it to /system/app (or /data/app)?
here's what I would do with it (I will test with g-lite when I get home tonight and let you know if it worked for me):
I would take the FM.apk attached and place it on my sdcard, then run the following commands from command prompt (you can do this from terminal emulator as well, just skip "adb shell"):
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system/app
mv /sdcard/FM.apk /system/app/
chmod 644 /system/app/FM.apk
reboot

in your case, my first step would be to find wherever FM.apk put itself (probably /data/app depending on what you did to install it), delete it, and start from scratch.
Why don't you just use tune in radio? It gets a ridiculous amount of stations and doesn't need headphones for an antenna. Try it!

well darn it.
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
^^ should get system mounted as read/write.
if not, do you have root explorer? we can do it that way as well, it's just faster to use terminal emulator/adb if it's not being tempremental.
So back at home once again, I tried the same commands from CMD and I'm getting the same message. I really don't know what's going on, it seems like the command isn't correct because it returns the possible options. Google hasn't come up with any suggestions too..
EDIT: Lol you posted at the time I was making this post, I will try what you said. I don't have root explorer, yet, let's see if your suggestion works, else I will need to find myself a copy of that root explorer
# su
su
# mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
# mv /sdcard/FM.apk /system/app/
mv /sdcard/FM.apk /system/app/
failed on '/sdcard/FM.apk' - Cross-device link
#
Seems like your suggestion worked, but then moving the FM.apk failed. Any hints on that? Google tells me something about unmounted devices, but I can't find any solutions..
try just copying it instead. I saw this come up once before and I know a [very lengthy] workaround, but since it doesn't hurt to have a backup on your sdcard in the first place, might as well just copy...
just replace "mv" in the command with "cp"
let me know if that works or not.
edit: also, try adding busybox to the beginning of your command... ie:
busybox cp /sdcard/FM.apk /system/app
or
busybox mv /sdcard/FM.apk /system/app
Thanks, the busybox command did the trick. All commands execute perfectly now, but the FM radio still ain't working. Instant FC on launch (Bluetooth turned on and headset plugged in)
i also flashed virtous g-lite, but psx4droid can not load game with this rom. so i have to back to cm now. do you use psx4droid? how about its performance? pls let me kown.thanks.
Well I got Root Explorer, it looks usefull and I have used it with pleasure already. But moving/copying the FM.apk, it still doesn't work.
Anyone any thoughts?
For some reason, whenever I try to copy something from Gmail on my AT&T S3, it crashes Gmail and forces me back to the home screen. I'm completely stock and not rooted. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Cheers thanks, I've seen that workaround but I'm not prepared to root my phone yet.
I just open a text message. Press and hold the blank text field. wait for the little popup saying clipboard. Tap that. then press and hold on each entry to delete them. Keep your clipboards clean folks!
Tapping on the clipboard icon doesn't do anything. The clipboard is corrupted, probably need to hard reset or root it to clear it out.

Test service didn't work. You have to be rooted and delete the files within the clipboard folder and fix permissions. I've looked everywhere on the interwebz and this is apparently the only way.

Hey, just in case anyone else shelled out the money for SE's new Android release, Chaos Rings and couldn't play due to being rooted...
All you need to do to be able to play is rename your SuperSU.apk/superuser.apk in the /system/app folder (I just added, ".bak" to the filename) and the force close will end. Of course, you will probably want to rename the apk back to normal once finished
EDIT:
Cooldoud has a script on post #5 which, with Script Manager, should offer a widgetable solution to quickly renaming the superuser/supersu apk

Renaming is easy - busybox mv <source> <dest>
It's calling the app that I'm not certain about.
Yep found that out too... Really can't figure out why they went through the hassle of implementing such a lame system... Anyway, I wrote the below script for my gnote, it will toggle supersu so you can use the same widget to enable and disable supers.
After that install script manager, and set the script to be executed as root. You can then just create a widget to easily access the script
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /system
if [ $? -ne 0 ]; then
echo "Failed to remount /system as rw"
exit
fi
if [ -f "/system/app/Superuser.apk" ]; then
echo "Disabling Superuser App..."
mv /system/app/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.bak
mount -o remount,ro /system
echo "All Done"
else
echo "Enabling Superuser App..."
mv /system/app/Superuser.bak /system/app/Superuser.apk
mount -o remount,ro /system
echo "All Done"

You must make sure you convert your newline characters to Unix format. Wondows-style newline will cause the error you're getting (well if we're talking about the same error )
You can use notepad++ or Google dos2unix for a command line tool.

Looks like you're not using the busybox binaries. Maybe try replacing "mount" by "busybox mount"? Problem is I don't know what shell you'd be using so that might still not be working. Are you using the international Note? What ROM?
Also double check whether you're using SuperSU.apk or Superuser.apk as your root configuration tool.
I have no idea how all these scripts work, so I just tried to change the name of my superuser.apk, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do that. My phone insists that I have insufficient privileges to rename it...
It seems that they finally added "*This game cannot be played on rooted devices." to the app description, it was not there yesterday
Well, I went and researched scripts. Got this script to work. (Had to add "busybox" before "mount")
Checked that the app does get renamed to .bak, and yet I still get a force close when i press start. I guess I'll just have wait for SE's patch.
It's important to check that the application is not appearing in your app drawer anymore (if your launcher can detect the app, so can SE... ) . Go there and check, if the app is still appearing it means it is still accessible (not sure whether you then need a reboot for it to disappear or something?), if it's not there... it means SE is also checking some other stuff to determine whether you're rooted, but I have no idea what that would be.
Ah yes, that's it. It still shows in my app drawer. Reboot didn't help. Trying searching the issue, came up with nothing. I guess I'm not meant to play this game just yet lol. Thank for trying to help!
I put these commands into terminal emulator to try to delete a system app and it didn't work and now some apps don't work and titanium backup shows I only have 1 app backed up and installed.
Su
Mount -o rw,remount /system
Rm -r/system/app/vtt-sprint.apk
Also now my terminal emulator looks like this and I know it doesn't look like that when you first start up so how do I get back or reset what I did? Thanks
