I wanted to use my Fire 7 occasionally as a weather station display to display the weather from the local airport.
I rooted my Fire 7 and installed the Nexus ROM and the Google Play store.
There are not many weather apps designed for landscape display, which I think looks best
on a tablet. Most weather apps seem to be designed with phones in mind and in portrait format. I did find a couple landscape weather apps that look good on a tablet. I got them both from the Google Play store.
The first is called "1Weather". It has a free and paid version.
It displays temperature, winds, visibility, air pressure, UV index, precipitation,
and temperature high/low forecast for the next 6 days on the main screen.
You can set it to display multiple cities, airports, etc. It looks good on my Fire 7 and makes it look like a weather station display.

The second one is called "Weather Station". It costs $1.99
It displays landscape time, wind speed, rainfall, air pressure, sunrise/sunset, dew point,
humidity, UV indes, temperature and chart of temperature hourly trend.
It allows you to source the weather forecast from all of the major private and government
weather sources. I like this app also. It looks good on the Fire 7 when I set it up on the fireplace mantle. Looks like a real weather station display.

Does anyone know of any additional weather apps that display well in landscape for tablets?
Another real useful app to use with the Fire 7 is Landscape Locker, available from the Google Play Store.
I like using the Fire 7 tablet mostly in the landscape mode. Many apps are designed for phones in the portrait mode. It's really annoying for apps to go sideways on you into portrait mode when you are holding it in landscape. Landscape Locker prevents this and locks the display in landscape for ALL apps. You can turn it on and off easily. I highly recommend it. Here is a link to Landscape Locker on the Google Play store:

Are there any more errors?

Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of live wallpapers. I love the idea, but in practice I've never found one that suits my taste and is compelling enough to stay on my device for more than a few minutes. That changed today with Cypher Cove's release of Audio Glow to the Play Store.
Audio Glow is actually a stand-alone app with a similarly named LWP companion which also launched today. The app is a music visualizer, which in itself is not so exciting. What makes this app exciting is that it isn't just a music visualizer – it's one that's beautiful, functional, and extremely customizable.
Basically, the app (or LWP, as the case may be) reacts to sound from any other app on your device (though its main target is music). It does this with colorful bars and little glowing particle specks that float around and can react to your touch. The app is simple in concept, and executed brilliantly with a ton of customization options. (Don't believe me? Just look at the screenshot on the far right below.) Users can change bar shape, color, particle density, whether bars and particles react to touch, the app's zoom level, its default music app target, and so much more.
In use, the colored bars bounce up and down as you'd expect, the particles drift lazily through the screen, and the artist name and song title smoothly slide together and apart.

This is a fun app, and an even better live wallpaper – one that can stand on its own even when no music is playing. Did I mention that Tasker and Locale users can use their saved visualizer themes and set them to trigger in response "to almost anything you can imagine"?

Hello everyone!
So I've been searching for a good calendar app for tablets, but haven't had any luck. I usually use Business Calendar on my phone since I really like their month calendar widget.
However, the problem on tablets (at least from what I've experienced) is that the month calendar widgets usually don't scale well when transitioning from portrait to landscape mode (and vice versa).
What calendar apps do you guys use? Can anyone recommend one that has a month calendar widget that works well in portrait/landscape mode?
Thanks!

I use aCalendar because its widget simply works and looks great. It holds its resize settings on a screen and has multiple views. I use the 7 day / week widget view and it syncs perfectly with my Google calendar.

I use Digical on both phone and tablet. Widgets are wonderful. The month one does require the paid version.

+1. I love the Digical+ widgets, especially because they are transparent. The app is very good as well, although not necessarily required.
LFP (Looking for Players) is a simple app that helps gamers find each other. It tries to emulate the bulletins boards in real life. LFP does not require an account to use but does require a persistent Internet connection. The three tabs (Response, Post, and Search) contain all of the functionality of the application.
Response lists the games you have listed with a list of people that are interested in playing that game with you. Tapping the X next to the game title removes the listing while the x next to a name removes that user. This list refreshes every time the app starts and every 15 minutes if left open.
Post allows you add a game to the server specifying the game, in-game name, platform, days and the approximate starting time. Anything posted is automatically deleted after one week.
Search goes through the available listings and returns a list grouped by time. All times are corrected for the local time zone. Clicking a listing within the group generates a dialog to notify the person that you are interested in gaming at that time.
Currently, I want to know:
• How responsive the app is.
• Is LFP intuitive to use?
• Are the colors appealing? How can I improve the theme, nothing too fancy for I am not an artist.
• Does this app accomplish its goal of being a bulletin board for gamers?
• If this was in the app store how much would you pay for it?
• Bugs and annoyances.
This was designed for use on a phone but it does run on tablets but its not coded to take advantage of the additional space.
**EDIT** This is the alpha so there isn't a large user base so there are 0 posts at the moment. Therefore everyone needs to post and search for the same 5 games: Pirate Sushi, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 3, Roller Rally:Snake Pass, Combat Wings: The Great Battles of WWII, and Quarrel.

Cool idea!
Thanks, I'm contacting people on that UI designer list to create a new color scheme for this app. That's a common complaint. Which is not surprising at all really.
Very responsive, haven't ran into any glitches yet

Hi. Can someone point me to a simple Custom ROM for kindle fire?
What I need is:
- stable
- simple, no need for theme or other custom
- tablet mode (optional)
- home screen lock-able, also preferable to be able to choose numbers of home screen. (I only need 1 home screen)
- good battery consumption (at least survive a day without charging for average use of streaming)
This kindle intended to be used by my kid (2-3 years old), so basically using several game apps, you tube, vvvideos
I tried
- jandycane, good, but can't lock home screen, cmiiw.
- hellfire 2.5, current ROM, trying for several day, no tablet mode, lock screen is portrait only
- 10.2 sgt7; battery drain faster than jandycane
Any opinion are welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Hascode Stock Android
Have you tried Hashcode's Stock JB 4.3 ROM? On a kindle your never going to get a full day of online video streaming.
Thanks for the reply. I tried several ROM, including kitkats, trying out ART that was supposed to work better than other ROM for lower ram, but because of stability, I keep coming back to jandycane ROM

Try downloading a different home screen launcher from the play store. I personally use Apex launcher, and you can set the number of home screens, size of the icons etc. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "lockable" home screen, but if you mean that you cannot remove icons etc. Apex has that setting too, called "lock desktop". It also has the option to set it as tablet mode. For a child that young I'd also recommend removing the access to the app drawer completely, and just putting the required icons on the desktop, but if that isn't an option due to the number of apps installed for him/her Apex also allows you to customize the app drawer. This is a screen shot from my SG3, but I created an app drawer specifically for my 7-year-old.

Stencil Dark / Shader Reveal
Sweepster
You can just import it direct into the app to play with the watch. All feedback welcome!

It looks good. And reminds me "executive" faces (most downloaded from facepro):

ok now that they added weather, I am thinking about using BW as my main watch designer.
I have been playing with text effects today - here's what I have come up so far using the stencil and flat shadow effects.
You can use any picture you like for the stencil.

I have uploaded all the .watch files to the link at the top of the thread.
Please let me know what you think of my designs.
Another design - this time using shaders.
The face reveals itself every hour, then goes back to black!
Shader Reveal
The .watch file is in my first link. You can just change to your own photo in the background layer.
Got a new watch today - hope you guys enjoy these!
This one is called Sweepster as the lighter ring sweeps around the darker ring using a shader.
Get all my watch faces at the link above.
Here are some faces I designed for my Moto360 thanks to Beautiful Watches
With the latest weather and battery widgets, my "Android wear" style:
My "Motorola mobility" face:
My "Low Energy Cost" face:
My "Cartier" face:
Awesome faces - like what you did with the widgets!
I am also working on some faces with weather, but want to change the graphic for the new weather widget in Beautiful Watches - does anyone know how to do this yet?
These look really great! I've been messing around with it recently and have a few I should post up here. Nothing really fancy, but I like them.
They just changed the name of the app to watchmaker, too.
And a paintball one for HK Army
[WatchMaker] excellent
The app development on this is awesome!
I love this app, anyone else having issues with apps not shoeing up on the watch after the recent wear update?

My wear battery app crashes and for some reason another one of my apps starts the music instead of answering the phone lol!
