I know this is an odd question, but I've been unsuccessful asking the question in the Development forums. The main Skydragon ROM no longer seems to include support (the T-Mobile Skydragon is from Dec 2015). Viper's main ROM doesn't either, and although their T-Mobile variant is from March 2016 it has proved really buggy for me. Cyanogenmod 13 was supposed to include it, but I've seen no further details. I know of no other actively developed ROMs that bother to include this valuable feature. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

I badly want to help get CM9 working, or at least learn from trying, on the T-Mobile variant of the GS3. I'm a pretty decent hacker, but I know I don't have enough / any experience with the Android OS / Kernel development to work on the GSM/LTE portions of the ROM. However, I feel that if someone could help me and anyone else interested to get the toolchain setup and source properly downloaded, we could help with the easier portions of the ROM and learn a little about the complex portions of the ROM just by watching what the more experienced devs are doing.
Right now, it seems like ...maybe.. a few people are working on their own rather than a collaborative effort (except the Sprint variant that has Team Epic working on a ROM). I don't want to slow progress by taking up a bunch of valuable dev time, but if one person could just help get some of the less experienced people off the ground, we could probably accelerate this effort...
In the meantime, would you guys mind posting some links to the best resources you have found for getting started building CM or even building Android in general? It doesn't really matter if it's a guide for a different device. I have searched but there is so much information missing in sources I have found.
Thank You,
KevlarTheGreat

I would love to get involved. I have a good amount of Linux and C experience (7+ years), but need a good place to start with Android ROM development (specifically for the GS3).

M'ladies and gents, couldeth you count a third member of this exquisite inquiry.
Team Epic is sorting it out, just be patient:good:

That is if it truly works on all carriers phones without trouble.

From what I understand, they are sorting it out for Sprint but T-Mobile is much different because it's GSM. Here is their reply to me when I asked if there would be CWM install scripts that would support both T-Mobile and Sprint from the same ROM:

No, there will not be ROM's that work on all variants. CDMA and GSM are quite different.
The tools like CWM will work on all variants (if made properly) because they don't use the radios.

I'm a bit surprised at this answer because I'm coming from the HD2 where tytung has two different versions of the kernel in his amazing CM9 ROM. It chooses which one to install automatically based on which radio support you have PPP vs RMNET.
so... i had no part of the dev on this rom...all credit goes to houstonn
BUT ITS A ROM THAT WORKS FOR THE SPRINT VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been running it for about 3-4hrs now... no bugs... gps/lte/AUTO-rotate/BT/WIFI/AND CAMERA all work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here is the link to the ORIGINAL THREAD.....
I hope i don't get smited for posting it here....
BUT.... here it is!

hi,
I'll chime in if you guys don't mind..
All roms 4.3 for sprint that was built by me was just showing some love to sprint users.. I wanted to get the ball rolling for sprint and eventually hopefully someone could continue and with my help they would be off to a rolling start already.. I don't own a sprint g2. I'm a Canadian g2.. I usually don't like building variants that I cannot personally test myself..
I felt is is unfair while everyone owns such a beautiful phone and not able to have it custom while other variants of the exact same phone are able to. So I tried my best to do what I could while I had the time to..
All 4.3 roms I posted for testing will not be supported by me nor will I take responsibility for any problems it may cause..
I will only support anything current that I personally post myself.. anyone is more than welcome to try anything I have released previously, cause if I didn't ok that I would remove the file myself.
I'm a member of PA and all my releases with 4.4 will be built from PA sources. PA is starting fresh so the builds are basically same as stock aosp google releases except with the few minor additions. PA is reworking fresh and will bring in all the known pa features as time passes. it won't be officially support until I post an official thread. but right now I have alpha test builds out. I hate having temporary download links all over the place..
but as for sprint, I felt you guys needed some loving too since I don't see much support at this time.. as for other roms and other official roms, I don't know if the devs will support this variant or not.. it helps to have a dev that has the same variant.. I guess the Canadian g2 ppl will be lucky since I use a Canadian g2
I will try my best to support what I can with the amount of time I have.. having a full time job and building so many variants is very time consuming.
On another note. if someone wanted to post a link for any testing it's best that it should of been posted in the General Section since this forum is for development purposes..
all aside. if you guys want I have an alpha test build of PA 4.0 kk4.4 for the sprint ls980. you can find the rom here.
links can change at any given time.. I will work some more at fixing some bugs but this is what I have to offer for now.. I hope u guys enjoy.thanks. it's best you follow my thread in the original dev forum until I have a formal thread posted with full support but as for now this is what you get till I have more info.

If any Sprint dev was interested in continuing your work on Carbon or PA ROM, should they contact you via PM for the source? I guess there could be some Sprint devs out there interested in making these type of ROMs but don't know where they can get the source to build from it.

I don't think anyone will be working on 4.3 anymore... I will most like support sprint officially with PA if have enough time to manage all the erors.. it seems more simple with the other variants since they are gsm and have mostly all things in common..
we are in the process of all migrations and merging of 4.4. If I don't build officially for sprint I'll make sure to have all the sources on PA's legacy github https://github.com/AOSPA-legacy and anyone that wants to build for you guys would have all the sources they would need.. there is 2 branchs or gits for PA now. the AOSPA which is PURE AOSP and PA uses for Nexus supported devices and now AOSPA-legacy which is for all supported non nexus devices we support. I will try my best.. remember im 1 man.. the team has so many devices and so many things on the go. If I had a whole team of devs working on this with me , it would be much more simple .. I am working with a few ppl and am helping another dev bringup 4.4 for Omni (hopefully if u guys can convince him, he'll build for sprint too )
it's still so early and knowing that g2 has kk. im sure more devs will jump on.. just a little patience
I'll do what I can for you Sprint guys.. but you have to bare with me. I'm only one guy like I said.. I'll keep you guys updated tho.. for all other info you can always go on irc on freenode.org in #lg-g2 . I may not always be online.. and please.. let's keep those PM msg flooding to a minimal. I've been flooded a lot lately and I don't have the time to visit every thread and every PM. I have a hard time enough keeping up on my own thread.

thread closed for the the reasons stated above ^^^^^^^^
As the owner of a Nexus 7 2013 LTE (deb), I can't help but feel as if nobody - especially not El Goog, actually give a frak about this device:
No Lollipop OTA yet
No Lollipop Factory Images
Hardly any roms
And not a single word from Google about the first two. Nada.
Now I've been using the one of two Lollipop roms actually available for the device, and I'm liking it, but I would have liked CM or Slimrom or any other custom variation (GROGG88's version is excellent, but I like to have variation to choose form - and now that we don't have xposed it's more important than ever).
I'd like to hear from you users and developers: Until Google step up their game (and even when they do), what do you think we can do to improve deb compatibility and rom variation?
Developers, is there any specific reason you develop for flo exclusively? (other than - I'm assuming - that it's the only device you've got?)
Bare in mind that this is an open discussion thread, I'm not blaming or requesting anything from anyone. Let's just talk about it.
I own a deb device. And agree that support is limited. I have grogg88's rom installed and must say it's one of the best available. I do also have cm installed. But wish there was more available. Hopefully Google will release the update soon
Of course it's not abandonware. Stupid question. Lollipop only came out 1 month ago and still has major problems on the devices running it.

This. With all the issues being reported on this forum alone, I have no desire to update to 5.0 or 5.0.1. I want all the new bells, whistles, and pretty colors, but 4.4.4 does everything I need and want.
I'm really hoping the GravityBox devs will find a way to get it to work with ART soonish.
So back in June of this year (only 4 months ago) there was an article on XDA about how Google had released open source coding for Wifi calling, ( http://www.xda-developers.com/google-open-source-code-for-wi-fi-calling/ ) So I am asking if this project has moved forward in any way over the last 4 months, and could any of the AOSP based Roms here have the T-Mobie wifi calling feature anytime soon? I don't know where else to check and can't find any additional info. Thanks for any input you may have.
I would also like to know if this is possible
I was hopeful some of the devs would respond here, but no luck so far. I have heard from one Slim Rom dev (@aclegg2011) that he didn't think any development was being done using this Google released coding. He said it was possible when Marshmallow came out. My question is if Google released the code back in June in a version of 5.1.1, I am just wondering why the devs are ignoring that development. Its puzzling to me that here 5 months later, nothing other than stock has implemented this feature even though Wifi Calling is T-Mo's bread and butter and really one of their main claims to fame. I think Google admitted that when they released this coding back in June. Maybe more response will come in. Thanks to everyone.
So why 5g Ver does'nt have so much (stable enough)rom like 4g Ver does?
I even want to replace my 5G ver to 4G ...
Are you posing a philosphical question? Anyway, there are other resources that might have the ROMs you need. Some of them are not posted here because they might not be able to comply with XDA requirements, or because they want to maintain an alternate support channel. Hopefully more developers will get to own this phone and develop custom ROMs for it. In the meantime let us appreciate those devs who have shared their work here.
