Anyone have any suggestion to a car mount for HTC 10? Possibly a magnet type so I can readily remove it. i.e. no clamp type mount. Also, hold it horizontally.
Thanks in advance.
Been using all my htc One phones with sticky pads, very easy to use, no magnet, no traces on the dashboard

Watch out for the magnet mounting types. I had one that used a small metal sheet inserted between the phone back and the phones case. It scratched the back of my HTC One M8! Otherwise it was great - but beware of the metal plate scratches.
USD 1.05 .. ?

Most of the better magnet mounts manufacturers provide protective film or sticker to be applied between metal plate and the back of the phone.
If anyone applies plate without sticker then it is their own fault coming from lack of imagination.

The X-Grip from Ram Mounts has been a great investment. I've used it with M7, M8, M9 and now 10. It's even large enough to accommodate my Nexus 7 Flo (without a case).
You can find smaller mounts, of course, but you can't beat the X-Grip's versatility and construction quality. I also have their GoPro and Tough-Claw attachments. After all these years, I have not found a mount that could replace this one.

I am using sticky pads since the m7, it's the perfect holding thing, no marks, no scratches and not expensive

Really like this one. Works better on some vents and not well on others. So might have to experiment. But I'm happy with this.

I'm concerned the buttons would be in the way, continuously being pressed by the cradle's arms.
I'm personally gonna order a Brodit holder, they've finally made the passive and active holders for our 10. (don't know when but haven't checked their website in a while)
http://www.brodit.com/productList.html?brand=HTC&model=10&pn=prod
The passive one probably as I already have a Tronsmart 2xQC3.0 charger and pair that with the universal suction mount as I don't want to do a direct install with the ProClip.
Hi
I have connectivity run through to my armrest console. So, I want to just open up the armrest console, slot the phone in to the mount with usb-c, close the armrest and away I go. Keeps everything neat and the phone out of sight. The phone won't fit in 'portrait'/standing up. I want it to preferably be laying landscape on the longer edge. That way I can have the mount up against one side of the console and still have room for other things, eg sunglasses etc.
The mounts I've seen on ebay, amazon etc, if I lay them on their side, seem like they would put the phone at a funny angle and/or not support the phone properly and put stress on the USB-C connector (bad!)
Does anyone have any ideas or pointers?
Thanks

this thing is great, but be wary of the magnet that you put on your phone, it can wipe your credit card. to avoid that you can use the freemount

Just use a big binder clip. It's super cheap and works better than any holder I've tried from eBay.

I use the Samsung Car Dock for the GS2/Infuse 4G. I've removed the little cover for the micro USB port and the Samsung dock works perfectly; charges and keeps my Nitro HD secure.

Nope, my Nitro HD + TPU case works fine with a 2" binder clip in a Honda Accord. I've used it as a GPS on 4 hour drives and it was much more stable than a windshield-mounted holder with a flexible arm.

I know; who'd have thought?
This isnt the exact same one i purchased, but it looks extremely similar to it. The padded arms that hold the sides or the top and bottom (you can rotate it while its mounted) are individually adjustable so its easy to position them out of the way of buttons while leaving the buttons fully accessible, and the phone secured perfectly.
It comes with two attachments, one allows you to hook it to your heater vents and the other is the window mount.
The window mount is not very long, but very sturdy! This is what i currently use in my car. The vent mount is very nice and sturdy, but it seems its meant to permanently attach to the vents. I first tried to use it since it keeps it out of my window area, but because of the way my vents are setup in my car, it pointed the phone in a bad direction and there's no left-right adjustments that you can do other than the normal movement from the room available from the clips, so upon trying to correct it, the two mounting clips broke and its no longer usable.
Either way, it works out perfect! But again, the one listed is only close to the one i purchased. I picked that one to list though because its from radio shack, where i purchased mine. I went out to the car and there's not a single branding label on it anywhere! crazy..

Namuna, have u or anybody else here tried the modified binder clip? I'm currently trying to make one, but I realize that the "arms" seem to be a bit too short to hold it in place. Either it will slip of the top arm or the bottom one every now and then. I've curved them slightly more upwards to give it more of a hold, but it doesn't seem to wanna hold. I wonder if we replace the body of the binder clip with a smaller one and just use the longer arms whether it will work better?
996gt2, would you mind posting a pic or two to show how it looks with yours? Mine just seems to barely hold it, and constantly slips off the arms.
I've found that the Garmin Nuvi 200 mounts like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Windscr...ers_Mounts&hash=item3a6b7428f1#ht_1996wt_1163 work great with no modification with my body glove dimensions case on, easy to slip the phone in and out of it.
I've also used this same mount on my previous phones with slight modifications (Motorola Photon 4g and Samsung Captivate) which involves using a lighter to melt the sides to the right size.
Also this one looks like it would do the trick http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-ORI...ers_Mounts&hash=item1c2690c51d#ht_11995wt_905

So r u currently using that very Garmin nuvi mount? And it holds the phone nicely and stably? I find that sometimes these mounts lean sideways when I have both power n 3.5mm jack plugged in. If u r using the mount pls take a pic of the phone in the mount so I can see how well it holds it. For that price, if it works well, I'd rather go with that. I'm spending way more already with the DIY mount clip lol.

As the official dock is way too expensive imo, I thought I'd start a thread where people can post their unofficial car docks they bought and the experiences they made.
So far I came across two docks, the [CAR] Passive holder from Brodit (2nd pic)
and one I found on ebay, sent from Hong Kong (pic below): Windscreen Car mount small (1st pic with text "one X")
This one also can be bought with various different mounting options. I am not sure how easy it will be to dock and undock the phone in the mount though, looks rather tight.
I think I will wait some more days / weeks before I'll buy something.
Any other car kits you guys found?
2nd looks pretty decent for a cheap mount
Here another one, brodit active, but really ugly...

the problem is it's being sent from HKG, if customs here decide to have a look at it I end up paying CHF 35.- (double the amount that thing costs) customs service fee, I almost might as well buy an official one
I would get this one, but I need a seller here in Europe.
Hey this one is low cost and will do the job:
ebay swivel one x holder
I used ot use it with my old DHD which now feels so ridiculously heavy!
You can mount it witht he provided suction that holds well enough.
Or if you buy some 3m automotive grade double sided tape
You can mount it on other places that don't have a smooth glass finish.
I had it stuck on plastic trim near the driver door/window.
The surface was mildly bumpy but that 3m held on well until the day I removed it.
Popping the phone in and out, and rotating it with force didn't budge it!
Out of curiosity I also purchased this one:
Those protruding clips can probably come off easily.
Some 3m on that flat surface and it will probably stick anywhere.
I like this one because it sticks out and gives a greater range of movement / angle.
Secured near the door you can have your arm rested on the seal and access the phone easily.
Unlike the official (or any other suction windscreen mounted one) which forces you to lean towards it awkwardly.

How easily can you mount and demount the phone in this one?
I am also looking into getting this one, I also already have the cradle, would you mind taking a pic without the phone in it for me to see if it would fit for my cradle (with my old mount I could simply take away the "case" which held the phone, was secured with 4 rectangular holes in roughly 2.5 cm distance to each other)?

Hey thanks for finding that.
This one here is pretty much spot on to what I been looking for:
The way them brackets expand in their demo video looks like it will hold a phone even if it's in a tpu case.
They ship outside of US too but the best part is that they allow you to use your own fedex/ups account.
This is the one I purchased.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160777560050?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I really like the way the suction on the windscreen works. Some of these other car mounts are horrible, they fall off after a few minutes, hours ect...
The fit of the HTC One X on the bracket is very tight, won't ever fall off.
Happy with this one.
Btw this one arrived... 6 days transit, not bad for HK.
The item is not the best though.
The neck is more stiff then my first erection when I discovered p0rn. Hard to bend.
The phone sits well tight in the bracket but putting it in feels like I'm going to damage the phone.
Not the best. Ebay didn't deliver.. usually they only have quality true? lol
Anyway, I will purchase that one from Arkon. Looks decent and can cater to multiple phones.
I've just found the following item on eBay which may be of interest to UK HOX owners:
[Unfortunately I can't post a link as I haven't posted more than 8 times on this forum]
Search eBay for item no: 360454478820
£5.95 free postage within 2-3 working days.
Looks to be the same item/design as the on in the OP
I'll be placing my order today and will post again with feedback hopefully by the end of the week
not bad this is, use to have one of these for my old HTC HD2
only problem is when you change your phone for something different, new than you have to sell this with the phone and buy a new one again.
So I've decide to go for some universal accessories as I was tired of changing the holders, dockings, chargers all the time. Especially in car access. as I always ended with reinstalling cabels, holders, etc..
But good solution for someone who don't mind to change or who's not changing phones often

Yeah, it'll definitely fit with a TPU case as long as it's not super thick.
Guys, I need your opinion about a magnetic car holder for SGS3.
Is it safe to use the Tetrax Fix magnetic car holder?
I mean, my concern is not only about the phone getting loose due to poor magnetic strenght, but the magnetic field interference with the phone functions.
Has anyone tested it yet?.
It looks pretty cool, as it is very small.

Thanks.
I have used them for 6 or 7 months with my Motorola Razr in my car and on my golf trolley.
The system has a magnetic button that fixes to your car with a self adhesive pad, and there is a self adhesive plate to fix to your phone. These come in 3 sizes and I would recommend using the largest due to the weight of the S3
They have worked perfectly well, although my phone has occasionally fallen off the trolley when going over rough ground. I've never had a problem with it in the car.
I am not using it on my S3 because the metal piece that fixes to the phone will not let the S3 sit level on a desk, The Razr has a bulge at the top that I fixed the plate near to, so it was not a problem.
Thanks!

Thanks for that. The system does look good though, but I don't really want to have a bit stuck on my phone all the time. I'm thinking getting a second battery cover (when they are available!) might be a solution so that I can swap them when needed. Alternatively some kind of quick-snap piece for the phone that the metal part could be stuck to would be quite good.

They clip to vent vanes, whish isn't always the most stable mounting solution.
You cannot rotate them to face the driver, which makes them not ideal for use with GPS.

FWIW, for the past couple of years I've used an alternative magnetic mount solution from krussell - most recently for the last 12 months with my SGS2
Despite some 'spirited' driving, its always remained perfectly secure.
I was worried about the magnetic field, but have had no such problems.
Its by far the best car mount solution I've ever used.
The magnetic disc is stuck wherever you want, and the thin metal plate is stuck to the back of your phone (or as I have done the back of the case)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Krusell-Str.../dp/B000ORXUOM/ref=pd_luc_chashrec_02_01_t_lh
Now that I have my SGS3, I've ordered some cheap painted white self adhesive metal strips to attach to the SGS3 case to use with this magnet.
Ignore the poor 1* review from some plum who blames the product because he tried to use it with an ipod with a platter drive in it!

I wanted to get the FIX version as well, but the problem is that it only supports 150 grams or 5.25 ounces, and while the SGS3 by itself weight 4.7 ounces, when I add my Otterbox Defender, it brings it up to 7.4 ounces. So I guess the only options for me are GEO (air vent) or step up to the much pricier XWAY....
So I have a pro clip (http://www.proclipusa.com/) and have been using it for a few years now (since my iPhone 3GS) and every time I swap out the Holder for my new phone (obviously).
I really like their style because it's pretty minimalist and doesn't involve suction cups. HOWEVER, the latest one I have been using for my iphone 4s (with bumper) was less than stellar (This: http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionp...r=false&have_mount=true&p_pageid=16488&dtype= )
They started using a 'one size fits all' type of product where you basically size your devise and screw in the adjustable sides. The sides ALWAYS slip and I have to re-tighten them. It's really a pain.
It also appears that they don't have support YET for the HTC One (another bummer).
I want to keep Vehicle mount and I am wondering if there is a way to hybridize the custom vehicle mount with something like this: http://www.amazon.com/GreatShield-Windshield-Dashboard-Universal-Holster/dp/B0090SB1CE/
Again, trying to stay away from the window suction cups which seems nearly unavoidable.
Anyone find a good solution to the proclips problem? Really unfortunate that they chose to skimp on quality and haven't updated for the ONE...
I've been checking the proclip website for an HTC One mount as well. As you said, no such luck so far.
One possible (but not very elegant) solution involves the HTC One official car dock (D160 or whatever the model number is). HTC dock uses a suction cup and comes with a flat plastic disc with a sticky pad on one side. The normal use for that disc is to stick it on your dashboard to create the flat and glossy surface ideal for the suction cup at the bottom of the actual dock. It should be possible to stick this disc to the proclip vehicle mount and suction-mount the official HTC car dock on top of it.
As I said, not very elegant, but it is one way to convert your proclip vehicle mount to a suction mount point. And you can probably go back to a proclip device docks by removing the sticky disk in the future.

Hmm, that may be something to look into. At least for the time being until ProClip comes out with something...
Wonder how long it takes for them to announce a new device mount...

Personally I haven't been too impressed with ProClip in the last few years. The holder they had for the Galaxy S3 was really expensive. Too expensive for what it was...
I'm happy that we have an official car dock from HTC.
The ProClip holders for the HTC One are in production. Within 1-2 weeks they will have them in stock. Just send them an email to get on the notification list. [email protected]
Attached is an image of their HTC One holder with a USB/Car charger. The other standard ones they will have as well.
Proclip sells a suction cup disc: http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-de.../suction-cup-dashboard-disc-710643-14367.aspx
I'm not sure if it just uses two-sided tape to attach or if there are screw holes so you can attach it properly. Unfortunately the link for the install instructions is broken so I can't really tell.
EDIT: Just sent an email to Proclip to see if it uses adhesive or a screw.
EDIT 2: Got a response, there is adhesive on the back so it's no better than any other disc out there.
Has anyone found a mount that holds the phone securely (in a case), that doesn't shake too much, and does not push any of the phone's buttons?
Ram mounts are pretty nice.

Hi
I didn't find any phone car holder for LG g pro
Personally i love my iOttie mount. It connects quickly and holds tight and then easy to get out. Holds it securely without feeling like I'm going to break something (mount or phone) because its spring loaded with a button that "grabs" the device and holds it. The XL size holds my LG and my gal's 4.5" Motorola, its a bit to big for your iPhone friends.
I bought mine on ebay for like 19.99

This is my DIY method of mounting the OGP on my air vent using the head of a windscreen mount. The OGP with the case is pretty heavy and the suction cup can't keep it firmly especially in an off road situation so I decided to make this mount out of a piece of sheet metal. All I can say it is sturdy as hell. So if you like tinkering at home it can be a nice weekend project...

That mount looks like it would press the volume buttons. Any issue with that? just to make sure, you have Model No: HLCRIO101 , correct?
Also, do you have yours hanging from the windshield or mounted to the dash? I'm looking to hang it, with the phone in landscpae. Any issues with it falling out in landscape mode?

Do you actually have this mount, or are you just suggesting it? If you do have it, any issues with the buttons or shaking or anything, and will it hold the OGP in a hybrid case? Also, it's designed to have the home button on the left. For those apps that only want to display in one particular direction when in landscape, that would make me have to flip the holder over, with the single tab on the bottom and the two holder up top. Any issues with the phone not staying in the mount if flipped over in this way?
Pallcsa...I realize you made the bracketry, but what mount is it that you are using to hold onto your phone's case? Also, what app is that, that gives your lean angles?

I bought it cuople of weeks ago. Didn´t have the opportunity to try it. But I inserted the OGP to try and fits perfect, so i don´t think it will fit with any cover (as any other smartphone with car holder i had).

Ahh... Yes, you must put the power button side downwards. It just reboot my phone

It covers the buttons but doesn't "press" them. Mine hangs from the windshield. It's spring loaded but has soft pads and doesn't squeeze too hard but it sits in there secure, I use it in portrait mode exclusively with no problem.

Well, as I said it was the head of a universal windscreen phone mount that I had laying around since it was too weak to hold that weight firmly. As far as the inclinometer app goes, you can download it from play store. Here is the link. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ojw.inclinlite&hl=hu
My OGP is in an Evtech Hybrid Case ( http://goo.gl/qZg5oX ) which is tough and hardy. I use a Dash Crab Duet car mount ( http://goo.gl/VKpBM8 ) with it. I offset the phone in the spring loaded jaw so no buttons are pushed. The mount attaches well to the dash or windshield and holds the phone securely in any position I gimble it to.

Wow! The Dash Crab Duet looks incredible, I will get it.
Thanks for the recommendation.
OP here. I ended up ordering the iOttie XL mount from Meritline:
http://www.meritline.com/iottie-one...for-galaxy-note-ii-galaxy-siv---p-102928.aspx
usually $19.99, but with coupon code MLCQ20XN it came out to $13.50 SHIPPED. Someone reviewed it for the OGP and said that the mount's holders touch the volume buttons but do not operate them, and that the phone in a case sits nice and tight. I should have it within the week and will report back any pluses and minuses of use.
I don't know if the coupon code is still good, but I guess you could try it if interested.
If this does not work out, I'll either mod it to make it work, or I might just try the Dash Crab Duet mentioned above.
