[Q] SIM unlock with engineering bootloader S=OFF?

Hey guys,
I am not new to XDA or HTC devices, just this phone. I recently came from the HTC Glacier (MyTouch 4G) on T-Mobile and got the incredible 2.
I would like to know a little about the Engineering bootloader on this device and if it allows the sim lock to be removed. On my other htc phone, the engineering bootloader allowed this, giving access to any carrier sim card.
The incredible 2 is a global phone and allows access to T-Mobile's 3g network if the sim is unlocked. What do you guys know about this, if I root, enable s=off, flash engineering bootloader and custom recovery, then flash a custom rom and enter the APN for T-Mobile, am I good to go, or is there some more complex thing I am missing?
Any advice would be much appreciated
uh cool... thanks guys
If you don't have a contract with verizon you will have to pay for unlock the phone, there are a couple sites that they unlock you devise for a couple $$$.

From my limited understanding, it is possible to unlock the SIM with s-off and rooted, but you need to run a sense-based rom; SkyRaider Zeus is one. You then need the SIM unlock code which people report they get for free by calling Verizon or online anywhere from $7 on up.
And my limited understanding is the result of reading/searching this and other fora the past couple days.

difference between bootloader and SIMlock

Hello all,
I just got an AT&T HTC one X (first smartphone in my life), rooted the phone and unlocked the bootloader by following the tutorial posted on XDA and official HTC bootloader-locking website. (Hail grankin01!) I am pretty sure that my HTC is unlocked (UNLOCK was shown on bootloader).
When I plugged in my SIM card, which was from T-mobile USA, I was asked to enter 8-digit network PIN number. I was confused and started to google related information and found no tutorial regarding how to unlock SIMLock. (It seems I need to provide IMEI and purchase from phone-hacking website.)
I have no intention to ask how to break SIMlock or PIN number but eagerly want to know the background and difference between bootloader(hardlock?) and SIMlock.
I am very new in the area of Andriod development and smartphone (touch-screen phone), the terminologies or concept I used above could be flawed and make no sense. I will be very appreciate if someone corrects me or posts related information.
Thanks!!!
Bootloader is only for for changing roms, not SIM
Sent from my fauxed HOX running ARHD 8.0.0
A boot loader unlock means you can flash custom ROMs and recoveries
Sim unlock is so you can inserts different providers sim
You can usually get your sim unlock code free by ringing your provider and telling them you are going abroad and would like to use an international sim whilst away
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
please brother i have htc one x and i need the pin numbre to unlock my sim card...pleaaase help

T-Mobile charge £20. Also, reading on the internet, many are having probs getting the code from T-Mobile - waiting months and when code arrives does not work, etc... Don't really want to go through all this hassle with T-Mobile and also pay them £20 to mess me around.
Is there any way to network unlock the HOX without a code ???
Take it to a t-mobile store
I was on T-Mobile UK and sim unlocked it the day I bought the phone. The code worked on stock ROM. I'm using the phone on Vodafone now.
I had used http://www.mobileunlocked.co.uk

Sprint HTC One M8 - with Sprint provided unlock code (6 digits)

I called and got my phone's unlock codes (domestic) however Sprint declined to provide how to unlock instructions. told me to go to my future carrier and give them the unlock code.
I called T-Mobile current provider and they told me... no Sprint can unlock and TMo, doesn't know how.
so I am stuck with legitimate Sprint unlock codes... and no idea how to use them.
Someone knows how this works here or it's better off just flash customs rom and unlock XDA way?
Thanks,
When you insert another carrier's SIM (in this case, T-Mob) it should ask for the code, then you just enter it.
Custom ROM isn't going to help you unlock the SIM, nor is there a working "hack" to do so without a code.
Thanks for your reply,
I've tried ATT, TMO sim and the phone does not ask for sim unlock code... it just says contact customer care.
or if someone knows how to get the phone to ask me for SIM/UICC unlock code... some hot keys to press, that can help too since I have the codes from Sprint.
**i am also reading about Sprint Sim unlock on One M8, so complicated!!!**
If you talking about the following mods, they are for unlocking the bands, which AFAIK is not the same as SIM (subsidy) unlock:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/how-to-convert-cdma-m8-sprint-vzw-gsm-t3303812
yeah, can't find a way to unlock sim to use w/ T-mo ATT. strange... I have the codes from Sprint and no one's done it? good thing I got HTC 10 factory unlocked this time no such problem later on

If the T-Mobile site says it's blocked, then it is blacklisted. Sorry, it won't work on any network. You need to call T-Mobile and ask why it's blocked.
And the only way to network unlock the T-Mobile S8/+ is with the T-Mobile unlock app. Flashing the unlocked firmware and then entering an unlock code won't work. T-Mobile has to be the one to unlock it, and it has to be initiated through the app.

Sorry but now TMB can be unlocked through reading codes no need for unlock app, plus if the imei is blacklisted @ TMB so it is blocked for TMB only which means if he use AT&T sim after unlock it will definitely work !!!

That's absolutely false. If it's blacklisted through T-Mo, it's blacklisted for all US carriers.
And what's your source saying you can use unlock codes on T-Mo? Because no one here has been able to do that. Many people have lost money buying useless codes for T-Mobile.
