Has anyone got their hands on the T-Mobile RUU, or know of a way to get it back to out of the box stock?

I have a stock back up. However, I still need the stock recovery.

:crying::crying::crying: I, too, need this mystical T-Mobile stock RUU for the HTC 10. I'm stuck in either bootloader mode or download mode. I cannot reboot the phone into normalcy, nor can I get it into recovery mode (of which would be TWRP). After rooting it I put the SELinuxModeChanger apk on my phone and downloaded it. When I opened it, it gave an error telling me that I was either not rooted (double checked that w/ a root checker and it confirmed I certainly was), or that it wasn't being given any permissions by the SU (of which I certainly did). I didn't think much of this till now - it wasn't a huge deal. And I made the choice that I just wanted to start fresh and go back to stock.
Did all the necessary preparations for it and couldn't find the HTC 10 RUU under T-Mobile on their site...but thought the one under Unlocked/Developer would be fine. Tried it, the program told me I couldn't do it with that version and now I'm stuck at aforementioned point. I could certainly use help as well.
Only way to go back to stock is to restore a backup. What do you get when you try to go into TWRP?

I get this error:
"Failed to boot to recovery mode
Press volume up or down to back to menu"
I've been talking to a bunch of XDA member in a group chat app on my HTC Desire...someone mentioned something along the lines of using a backup that will work for the HTC 10 T-Mobile phone.
Can I use my fiances somehow? He's rooted w/ custom ROM.

Oi vey :crying: so since I was trying to use the RUU to get back to stock - I relocked my phone (as it is a prerequisite for the job to get done). So, since you can't flash while locked, I simply go to enter in my fastboot unlock command for this device and I get this is response:
error: cannot load 'token'
So now I am going through the HTCDev website and am going to redo the bootloader unlock process to see if that will work with unlocking it once more...then I will attempt to reflash TWRP. If it's all successful...I have the TWRP backup on my SD card...will the reinstalled version of TWRP be able to use it?

Welp...
Sad day - I enter my "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" in the CMD window...and the menu where I get prompted with the question as to whether or not I want to unlock the bootloader on my phone popped up. I jumped for joy up to the point where it froze after I said yes, shut down, then went back to bootloader mode.......still locked :crying:
No what?

Alright so Im having a problem, i bought the htc one m8 sprint version, and a system update came out for it. It was urgent it said and installed itself on my phone. After a while of using it my phone started force closing and rebooting constantly, to the point where i couldn't do anything.(my device was rooted before it was installed, the boot loader was unlocked and TWRP installed). I went to my TWRP settings to try and uninstall the update and somehow managed to wipe EVERYTHING in my phone, and it now says i have no OS installed. when i try to boot my device it gets stuck in the HTC load screen with the green logo, white background, and t says powered by android at the bottom and it goes no further. I tried to side load the viper one ROM and the G-apps and its saying its successful. But its still getting stuck in the load screen. I tried to go to my backups in TWRP restore and all of the ones are empty. can anyone help?
Go into fastboot, flash the latest TWRP, sideload or copy onto a sdcard a nandroid backup and back it up through twrp. that should do it
same problem
please help in this issue
i had same problem after wiping everything, i still can go to TWRP recovery, but no OS install !!!

Yeah, but you knew what you had done (and how to recover) right?
Its the "I wiped OS guys, why don't I have an OS now?" that bugs me.
Usually accompanied by "I didn't bother to make a nandroid, have a ROM zip handy on the phone, or have adb setup".
I mean, we all make mistakes. Especially early on. But to make such a mistake, not be able to figure out (the fairly obvious) reason why it happened, and have made no preparations for recovery . . . its just not the right way to go about things.

Well I didn't fully understand what I had done until I swiped..... :-o just cause I was being a moron. But I knew full well how to sideload. I guess I can understand why we are seeing these cause twrp has some partition problems plus from what I've read GE & sense have different partitions as well. So flashing a custom recovery that says NO OS can freak some newbs out. And apparently me a little as well.

Now it says s-on? I'm assuming you did firewater or sunshine then, and successfully got s-off. That's rather odd. You best best in my opinion is to get an external SD and dump a ROM on it. Also check for the unofficial twrp in original development under..... Oh crap I'll post it here. Hold up

Did you do a factory reset in bootloader? This should never be done on a modded phone, as it corrupts the phone's internal memory. I haven't seen the issue of going back to S-on before on this device. But the other symptoms seem indicative of internal memory corruption.
so, someone is selling a bricked or possibly soft bricked phone, the dude said that he was trying to unroot it and some how while he was s-on he ended up deleting the os. he says it boots to the bootloader and everything and he says that while he tries to sideload something it fails... is the phone bricked for good? or there's hope?
thanks in advance!

Collect some more answers prior to buying. But I would say as long as the display comes up and bootloader shows there is hope.
Fails while sideloading sometimes doesn't mean anything, as he has to sideload a ROM.zip while a backup would fail.

I just wanted to say that maybe I'm wrong and some others should confirm what I'm saying .
But from what I learned you could re-flash TWRP in this state and first flash a custom ROM such as ViperOne using adb sideload to get it up and running. From this point one could then revert to stock using the correct backup.
Would be interesting if the
fastboot getvar all
command comes up with the version-main and which cid and mid this One M8 has.

I'm gonna ask him if he can get into the recovery and see if he has a custom one. Because if he does I'm sure I could just put a SD in there and get a nice m8 for about 220.

Ask him whether he installed a GPE ROM before ... I've seen many have problem when trying to unroot or back to Sense from a GPE.
Get the fastboot getvar all info from him. If his device is on bootloader/fastboot then he should be able to run this command. If he can have this info, then it just a soft brick.
Gotta go now ...

He doesn't know how to do "fastboot getvar all" then how can he said he was unable to install a recovery ?
I still believe, nothing is wrong with his M8, other than OS was deleted with a custom recovery ... a simple fix by placing a ROM.zip on external sdcard will fix it.
Can he get a screenshot/a pic of the bootloader ?

I recon your best bet is to try and unlock your bootloader again have you tried reinstalling/manually installing the drivers on your computer? also does it make a sound when you plug it in? and what happens if you select hBoot?
Was you trying to return to stock when this happened?

considering your version of hboot I don't think firewater will work which means you would need to use sunshine which costs money...
You would also need to be within you system(Android) and be rooted so at the moment best thing to concentrate on is getting your device a recovery / get it to connect to a PC
If you can get your Device to show up in ADB your chances of recovering it get a lot higher

You need to use firewater s-off or if that one does not work for you sunshine s-off works but cost $25 dollars.
The issue your going to have is you can't boot at all and you said fastboot commands not working. Are you sure you have the correct fastboot and adb files in the folder your connected to?

You need to use firewater s-off or if that one does not work for you sunshine s-off works but cost $25 dollars.
The issue your going to have is you can't boot at all and you said fastboot commands not working. Are you sure you have the correct fastboot and adb files in the folder your connected to?

What did you do to get your phone to this point? I need to know what you tried to do to get a better idea of how to fix it. You said the phone won't boot or go into recovery I need to figure out why so I need to know what you did.
I think your fastboot setup is wrong that's why fastboot is not working what are you typing in terminal from start to when it fails.

OK... this is what I can understand.
You relocked the bootloader for some reason then you unable to boot the phone anymore and when you try to enter recovery, it boots to bootloader again. All fastboot command doesn't work.
Now ... do you still have the unlock_code.bin with you ? You need to re unlock the bootloader then other fastboot command will work like fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and etc.

Hi all,
I will receive my new 10 tomorrow. Is there a guide so I can root it right away? Not sure but I assume it will be a wwe version (401?)
I should unlock it via htcdev and what's next?
Thanks!

As usual .. after unlock, install TWRP and install SuperSU.zip
You need to read and understand this first : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/psa-htc-policy-unlocking-bootloader-t3365986
and here is the TWRP : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3358139
Thanks for the answer. Both links give me an error in the xda app. Know where to find them but just FYI.
So I need to replace the recovery without doubt. Hmm, not sure if I want that reading the things about ota and stock recovery. I'm actually waiting for mike1986 to create a custom rom for the 10 but up until now no news about that.

Prety interested in this one too... Looked around and on some sites it said that you can do it using various apps... I would also like to keep it as stock as possible but rooted, at least at the beginning
Is there any one touch root solution
What versions of SuperSU are people trying and having success with?
Latest versions had issues on my M9 so had an older version working great!

Nope, and it as much as says so a few posts above yours.
I unlocked my device via htcdev, flashed trwp latest version and sideloaded the last beta version of supersu (2.71). These steps did the trick although some apps that require root (fstrim for example) claim I need to root the device. Rootchecker on the other hand claim my device is rooted. Main reason for me to unlock was adaway to get an almost ad free device.

Was your device encrypted? Thought all devices are and you loose all userdata when you install TWRP. or even when you Unlock via htcDev?

It will wipe when you unlock but unlike previous years, because it is encrypted it will forget its access when you s-off as well.
The update is now available in my region but since I unlocked and rooted, how do I apply this? I assume nothing will get lost? Is there anybody with the ota file so I can at least restore stock recovery?

How could I backup stock recovery? Backing up the rest is done with twrp but stock recovery wasn't possible of course. What I understood was the stock recovery could be pulled from RUU and since I'm on the wwe 401 version I was not afraid I couldn't find that. Only did not expect an ota that quick

Typical verizon removed the "Enable OEM unlock" option from the developer settings. Hopefully someone will figure out temproot quickly.

in my opinion I would not even bother with the OTA now that your unlocked and rooted. you will start seeing custom stuff soon enough. I'm still waiting for any info on mine even being shipped out.
What is the correct root procedure to keep signal?
I've tried:
1 unlock bootloader via htcdev.
2 flash TWRP.
3 flash SuperSU
4 run SunShine
5 re-enable data encryption via settings > storage
It then reboots and I see HTC logo (thought it was encrypting without giving any indication, so I left it overnight) and it was stuck in this state. In the morning I force rebooted and was still unencrypted and without signal, so I attempted step 5 with same result...

That's always good
I've attempted to root it again and now it works, it's rooted, with s-off, unlocked, and encrypted and with signal working.
Not sure why you lose root after format data, is that normal?
hi, does anybody have a m9 stock rom twrp backup? Preferably from today, yesterday.
Clean rom backup would be nice too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/htc-one-m9-dump-t3060545 next time i won't send you the link. please try to find it first on your own. it's actually not that difficult choose the twrp backup which suits your firmware version, like 3.35.xxx.x or yea which you need.

Yes re-flash TWRP recovery. As you did it once you should know about the exact steps that need to be taken. Hint: download mode, fastboot flash recovery nameoftwrprecovery.img.
Then do as @DeeZZ_NuuZZ told you above.
Edit: somehow I have a presentiment that, in the worst case scenario, the eMMC could have been damaged by the heat.
