No Marshmallow update - LG G4 LMY47D - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have purchased an LG G4 but I am not getting any Marshmallow update available either by OTA or the LG Bridge tool.
The details of my device are:
Kernel: 3.10.49
Build Number: LMY47D
Software Version: VX10c-EUR-XX
Ideally I don't want to root or manually flash the rom, I have seen reports of people getting MM from the end of last year. Is there something I am missing as it looks like official MM has been out for some time for this device.

Flash with LGUP. You dont need root. Or wait till is relesead to your phone.

Hi,
I found the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803
So I can go ahead and use this app to flash the MM rom on my device? Would I need to prep anything first like unlocking bootloader?
From that link I found the following ROMs:
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G4/H815/Marshmallow+6.0/
I am a bit confused as to which ROM I would need to use, there are the following:
Europe_H81520C_00_1218.kdz
H81520B_00.kdz
H81520D_00_0115.kdz
TWN H81520b_00_1218.kdz
What is the difference between each of these ROMs? My device at present has VX10c-EUR-XX, would that mean that I would need to use Europe_H81520C_00_1218.kdz?
From the guide is looks like you need to get LGUP to see the device, select the kdz and off you go, is it really as simple as that? No need for custom recovery, bootloader unlock etc?
Finally, is Europe_H81520C_00_1218.kdz the official LG MM rom? I intend to use Android Pay here in the UK so I need to use an official ROM.
Thanks!

Latest stock marshmallow rom is h815v20d u cand fiind it on http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/

Download the latest kdz and put it on desktop, start LgUp go to upgrade and them select the kdz from the desktop.after that thick refurbished if u want to instal a clean rom, connect the phone to your pc and pres start on lg up. After couple of minutes ur phone reboots and after that its showing u an upgrade screen. Thats it

Hi, I entered my IMEI on the devtester site but it is not recognised! Should I be concerned that my IMEI is not being picked up by the website?
What does that character represent after the v20?

I have the H815 EU. The firmware installed on my phone is MM V20D-EUR-XX. My IMEI is also not recognized by those websites. Should I worry too?

No. My imei is not recognised neither. But i got the OTA So dont worry. The kdz for your imei its not online thats why u dont find nothing. Just flash the v20d euro kdz.

I flashed h815v20d and my device is up and running with MM, yay!
Not had a chance to use it yet but the process was very simple and I had no issues.

I am glad that u made it. hope the info was helpful

new to lg g3 questions

hi guys im new to the lg g3 (well any lg phone) just a couple of questions
from what ive read there isnt many roms due to the locked bootloader will the bootloader be unlocked in the future?
i have the D855 uk vodafone model is they a working TWRP or CWR for the g3?
ive rooted so does this mean i can at least remove some bloteware?
thanks guys sorry for questions :victory:

Probably yes, if the @thecubed and others beat the protection (last post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...3-vs98510b-t2890349/post55729952#post55729952)

There is only Tethered version and I would not recommend to use it. It's for advanced users only and it's not a "real" recovery. More on http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/recovery-twrp-2-7-1-3-t2831668

Yes, you can... , or freeze it. If you will the cause softbrick, use LG Flash Tool 2014 and flash in NORMAL mode latest stock ROM you used or use LG PC Suite. After this you need to re-root it. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-unroot-ota-using-lg-pc-suite-pc-t2802286)

thanks for the replys if the bootloader doesnt get unlocked then thats going to destroy the g3 for development isnt it
is they a way to flash latest stock rom and get off the vodafone branded rom so i at least get all the latest OTAs?
Not sure I understand you question, but if you mean, whether you will be able to update the phone via OTA in the future, it depends.
If not or if it will not work, unroot your phone, install OTA and the re-root and you should be fine.
But still - all of that is already described in dedicated threads, don't be afraid to take a look around. :fingers-crossed:
As for the development - I guess when it will not get unlocked, it will be from my perspective one of the most wasted money on Android phone for many.

lol sorry what i ment is im on a vodafone branded firmware now and i wanted to flash a unbranded latest uk stock rom so it will be first to get OTA as branded firmwares can be a bit behind is it possible?
thanks again:good:
I don't think so, but someone else should confirm it.
Eg. you can download FW based on IMEI (http://lg-firmware-rom.com/download-firmware.php?f=YOUR_IMEI_HERE), not based on whether it's branded or not.
But still you have option to use the tools like LG Flash Tool 2014 and simply flash latest firmware you want (for your variant)

I know its confusing but you can only flash TOT files with that tool - if you get your FW via the imei cause its a KDZ, for KDZ flashing you need to use this tool...

LG G3

Hello Everyone !
I have a question which really interests me. I have stock rom installed on my LG G3 D855. Oversharpening of the screen annoys me. I have decided to root and install that overshapening fix. By doing this I will change kernel of my LG G3. The question is will I be able to receive any official software update from LG after rooting and changing kernel ?
Thank you for your patience you took to answer me !

no, if you change the kernel you don't be able to receive OTA updates, but you can install it over KDZ Flasher...
Hi, You don't need to receive the updates. The custom ROMs based on the stock firmware are way better and they are updated soon after the new stock firmware is out.
By rooting and installing the oversharpening fix, you must have installed TWRP, which means that you are no longer on stock recovery. Do not take any OTA or you may risk bricking your phone. Manually flashing is really your only option at this point. You can flash official firmware, which is available here, but you cannot update using OTA.

Is there any difference between flashing kdz and receiving OTA update. I mean are they (kdz file and received update ) different or completely same ?

OTA is over the air update, its via 3G or wifi, directly from LG servers, if you change the kernel, the servers or the update center dont know what version you have and dont detect your device or better saying dont know what phone you have!
Flashing in KDZ is completly different, because you need to use a PC to download the firmware, need to use a USB cable to connect your device in PC and use KDZ flash tool to flash the firmware on your LG G3...
anyway, i belive the 2nd option is better because sometimes the newest firmware dont be avaiable in update center when its leaked (of course it depends of your contry and etc) and you can download it on PC and put it on your G3 as soon as possible!
Thank you for detailed information. My question was actually about the files. Kdz file and received update. Are they the same ? Let me explain. Say I have 2 LG G3 D 855 smartphones. I receive OTA update 20I to first one and flash kdz 20I to second one. Will they be the same or different. Apps , tweaks , quick settings .etc ?

I'm from uk and have flashed many kdz from different regions without any problems. Currently I am on 20w-eur the latest for uk is 20u.I have flashed from Poland and Spain before without any issues although I would recommend flashing kdz roms near to your country ie if you are in the UK not to flash a China kdz but technically I think you can flash any.
Remember to read the LG Fashtool guide thoroughly and do not disconnect until your phone as thoroughly flashed and rebooted.

I am from Romania but the phone is unlocked.
I have a little bug which really annoys me: When i select swype to unlock the phone, after i swype, there is a little lag, around 0,5-1 second, before the virtual menu buttons appear. However, if i select PIN to unlock the phone, this lag doesn't appear and the virtual menu buttons appear instantly.
I was wondering if there is something to do with my rom, V20t, and i wanted to try a different one, but i want to be sure it is safe because this is my first LG and my first experience with flashing roms. I am full stock, not even rooted.
Thank you.

Nothing is 100% safe but if you want the latest firmware without too much technical knowledge then using flashtool is probably the best way to go.
Just follow the instructions on how to use flashtool and make sure you understand everything and you will be ok.Just remember don't unplug your phone from the computer until it as totally flashed and rebooted and you should be fine.
I have used flashtool many times and not had any problems you could always wait for the Android M update ota but that may not be until after Christmas.

Help, I rooted my phone and I get a warning everytime i open it

Hello
So after foolishly updating to Marshmellow and discovering that all my apps no longer update in the background, i flashed my device to the LG G4 V10D-226-01 software version, the 10D Europe Open from the LG g4 "Go back to stock rom" thread.
Problem is, everytime i open my phone i get "Warning: Current version is not available for user. Cant find matched cust for Nt-code mcc/mnc[22601],subset[ff]. I have looked both on google and here and everything i found was for the G3 model and it involved using a "custom restore" image. but no explanation on how to use it, its not a KDZ so i cant flash it.
I'm pretty new to all this and everything i wanted was to go back to my Lollipop variant after seeing how Marshmellow behaved on my phone. (not auto updating my background apps).
I appreciate any help you guys provide.
Thanks
u cant downgrade once u go to Marshmallow. Its a security thing tht was updated in the latest firmware b4 Marshmallow came out. Ur gona hav to start all over again wth the latest KDZ b4 Marshmallow
I reformated into a Lollipop KDZ by flashing my ROM from the "Go back to stock" thread. Problem has appeared after i did that. I am currently on Lolipop v10D
nobody has any idea on how i can solve this issue?

[Q] Root for H812 (Bell) Running Marshmallow?

Hey everyone,
I have searched for quite a while and simply couldn't find a root method for my Canadian G4 running Marshmallow. If there is none, is it possible to downgrade? It doesn't seem to me like there is any root for any model running Marshmallow
Thanks,
Dan
Root is not available for the H812 on Marshmallow. Yes, you can downgrade to Lollipop and install root. However, you would lose all your data if you do this.

Hi everyone,
I have been searching high and low for a proper method to root this otherwise useless device. Does anyone have a guide that actually works for them to obtain root on Bell LG G4 (h812) on Marshmallow?
I will downgrade if necessary, data loss is not an issue at this point.
I am also wanting to use alternate ROM if any are available for this device.
ON a separate note, is there another model of the LG G4 that is interchangable with the h812 that I can safely use it's ROMs and Root method, or does it HAVE to be specifically for the h812 model?
Thank Kindly!!

Use LGUP - NEW (https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lgup-install-kdz-mm-lp-t3249803), re-install the stock Lollipop rom (kdz) you used (before flashing the rooted image you used to get root), then ... upgrade again with LGUP - NEW with the appropriate MM kdz (you can check here for that): https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h812-firmwares/

Thank you, this is just what I have been looking for. But do I need to install a custom recovery tool such as TWRP or CWM before I root it? Because the bootloader on the H812 is locked so who knows what flashing might do.

There's no way to get it back to MM unless you in-root it and use OTA. Unfortunately on all G4 except European variant bootloader is locked and LG doesn't want to open that for us.

As you noticed, the BL is locked. Without unlocking it you'll not be able to install either custom recovery on H812.
You are WRONG ...

There's no way to get it back to MM unless you in-root it and use OTA. Unfortunately on all G4 except European variant bootloader is locked and LG doesn't want to open that for us.

Read the post regarding TWRP-in-Fish, it allows a custom recovery WITH a locked bootloader and has been tested by me on my H812, ReeS86 (who led the way on the H812) and many others with different models with locked bootloaders - do not proclaim what you do not know. You CAN restore back to MM by re-installing the stock Lollipop KDZ with LGUP - NEW and then, using LGUP - NEW again, upgrade back to MM stock provided you have the right KDZ. You cannot however, install a custom rom, as yet. It is being worked on, however, by steadfasterX, first on unlocked bootloaders, then on locked bootloaders ... with a little luck and a lot of his hard work we will have the ability at that point
Do your homework before making proclamations, please!

Thank you, this is just what I have been looking for. But do I need to install a custom recovery tool such as TWRP or CWM before I root it? Because the bootloader on the H812 is locked so who knows what flashing might do.

No, No ... no - please read the posts in the links thoroughly ... you install TWRP-in-FisH AFTER u have got a rooted system image installed. YOU WILL NOT (repeating ad nauseam) BE ABLE TO INSTALL A CUSTOM ROM (at this point any way, until we have a successful efidroid port to a locked LG G4), as you will still have a locked bootloader. You will simply have a way to get back to where you have gotten to at any point in time and if you suffer a hardware bootloop you will be able to get back to where u were once your phone is repaired. And please note, if and when in TWRP (from the TWRP-in-FisH install), it asks you if u want to install TWRP, do not respond Yes - you will brick as it tries to install to your stock recovery partition which cannot be done with a locked bootloader.
Just read all the posts thoroughly, please.
Good Luck,
S.
Thank you Sir! you're right, you can install a body without a head...
