Wondering if there's a way to convert a VZW m8 (s-offed) to developer edition with an RUU and use it on T Mobile?
Sent from my Nexus 9 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Never do that.
Don't convert a CDMA device like Verizon & Sprint to totally GSM like Developer Edition.
You'll brick the radio, no signal.
like him above said, never do that.
its not possible, because VZW One m8 has another partition table and layout than international m8
and its wcdma.
Thanks for the heads up, glad I asked before I messed up the phone.

Since my JavaCard should be here in the next few days, I was wondering. Since the GPE One supports most of the bands the VZW One uzes , would flashing the GPE RUU (radios and all) keep me from using cellular data etc?

It would cool if it worked. If it was mine, I would be worried that if it didn't work, there is no stock RUU to flash. You would basically be forced to get a replacement. I would hold off until there is a stock RUU available.

NO this will not work. It is GSM, bands dont exactly matter here.
The GPE HTC One supports the GSM versions of those particular frequency bands, NOT the CDMA ones. I know it sounds absurd, considering they're the same frequency but when you're dealing with different protocols between GSM & CDMA you don't want to potentially ruin your phone or put yourself in a place where your phone will be hard to recover.
Should I install an ATT ROM? and will I lose my unlock if I install a custom ROM?
Verizon one comes SIM unlocked out of the box. Are you talking about the bootloader unlock?
The 6500LVW (m7wlv) is a global phone, not GSM/CDMA. Only service you will get with ATT or any other US GSM carrier is edge speeds. Our HSPA radio only supports international carriers and our 4G radio only supports 700mhz band 13, not the AWS every other carrier uses.

It says that it is the HTC One M7UL
Then it isn't a Verizon HTC one. Go to the other section in this forum for international variants. In bootloader, it would say m7wlv if it was a Verizon HTC one.

It says Verizon on the back of the phone and is running Verizon firmware though
Then it shouldn't say m7_ul a Verizon branded m7 is m7wlv. Whoever you bought it from probably flashed the UL firmware which will cause all sorts of issues for you if it truly is a Verizon m7

Is there anyway I could fix this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485319 flash that firmware and radio. Instructions are in the thread. Also, if your cid says anything except vzw__001 (two underscores) then issue the following commands while in Fastboot.
fastboot oem writecid VZW__001
Caps matter when making your cid

Hey guys,
I read that the phone is "global" and sim unlocked, but I am wondering whether or not it will work with softbank particularly? I read that the service bands are different, but I cannot find any other source other than one, but people do say it should work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It is a global phone so it should work. However it makes little sense to buy a Verizon wireless m9 if you are not on Verizon. The phone is completely locked down and requires a Java card to turn soff. I would suggest looking at another carriers branded phone as most are cheaper anyways

I already have the phone. So I can get a sim card here and it should work?

no one has tried to De-branding a M9 VERIZON?
It's impossible. You'll create a paperweight by trying. The partition layout of the unbranded versions (all are GSM devices) differs from the ones of the CDMA versions (Sprint and Verizon).

thank you, I was almost aware
But in view of your preparation, I ask you something else related to the subject.
I noticed that the SPRINT version of M9 has updated the firmware while the VERIZON version no.
being both CDMA models can I turn my VERIZON into SPRINT and vice versa?
If you are now compatible with Italian frequencies (now verizon also works in 4G)
THANK YOU again for the answers and the expertise.
Greetings and kisses
That's impossible, as well. The partition layouts of the different CDMA versions differ, as well.
