Using Verizon HTC ONE m9 in Japan - Verizon HTC One (M9)

Hey guys,
I read that the phone is "global" and sim unlocked, but I am wondering whether or not it will work with softbank particularly? I read that the service bands are different, but I cannot find any other source other than one, but people do say it should work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It is a global phone so it should work. However it makes little sense to buy a Verizon wireless m9 if you are not on Verizon. The phone is completely locked down and requires a Java card to turn soff. I would suggest looking at another carriers branded phone as most are cheaper anyways

Query Regarding Getting the Desire from London

Well the topic is about the Desire and how to get it but I was not sure which forum to put it in so posted it here.
Well my Brother is moving to London for 2 years. Now he has his N95 (unlocked) which he would like to continue using as he has his paid apps installed on it and stuff.
Now he's getting a HTC Desire on contract. So If he uses the Contract Sim in his N95 and sends back the Desire to me here in India, I could unlock it and use it with any data carrier here in India right?
Yes you could unlock / debrand the Desire and use it on another network.

He will be either on T Mobile or Vodafone
The network won't care right even if he's using his contract sim in his other unlocked phone?

Oh and one more thing.
Some guy on tech enclave was saying that if you unlock your phone using the unlock code the phone will once again get locked after I update my phone software to Froyo.
Is that true? I thought this only happened in iPhones? If it's true what are my alternative means of unlocking?
Thank you everyone
Simply re use the same unlock code you originally used to unlock the phone and you'll be fine.

That would work right? Or will they not let you re use the same code?
It worked for me when my phone was re locked after debranding, its worked for others on here too.

Anyone know How much would it cost in customs to get a Desire from the UK to India?

[Q] simple mobile

is it possible to use simple mobile on the incredible 2? i know it has a sim card but i am not sure. If i can what steps do i need to take in order to do so. Thanks
You would need to either contact Verizon's global team and have them provide you with the unlock code or you could purchase an unlock code from eBay.

Once you unlock the SIM it should work. I unlocked mine and have been able to use the straight talk Nokia SIM that I had. It works except I don't get 3G connection. EDGE only. Otherwise it works fine. Will come in handy whenever I travel to Mexico next month.

Can you use an AT&T go phone sim in this phone?

Hi guys,
My friend bought an incredible 2 and paid to have it sim unlocked. He put his at&t go phone sim in it and it doesn't recognize the sim in gsm mode nor does it even register in global mode. I did a search on Google and got yes and no answers on whether this is possible. I figure no one would know better than an xda guy, so any help is appreciated.
Phone is also rooted and s-off if that matters/helps on the newest rooted ota.
Thanks in advance!

Technically speaking yes it should work but the phone will only be able to use the edge network due to limitations on the inc2 being built mainly for cdma network. I would try a different carriers SIM card to test. It is possible the unlock didn't work. I have seen a few people on here using the phone with tmobile which is almost the same network.

Dkstunna's cm9 has working gsm 3g if I remember right
So it is just a matter of flashing a rom that will support it? I see that a few roms say they support GSM. I read somewhere that verizon blocked the radio in the phone from getting AT&T signal, is that true and if so would I need to flash a different radio for it to work? Data does not matter, he mainly uses it for talk and text (why he got an incred 2 for just talk and text is beyond me)

Its not blocked, the phone just doesn't pick up the right band or frequency to get gsm 3g on certain networks, all the different type of data and voice use their own frequency range and our phone can't pick up the right band to get it, our radio is not made for it.

I have rooted and have mine s-off. Prior to doing this Verizon gave me the unlock code for GSM as I travel overseas. I am running aeroevan's cm9 on it and recently tried the local GSM providers SIM here in Wyoming (Union Cellular) in the phone. I switched the network to GSM and it picked up nothing at all. I have used this overseas with a Movistar SIM and have had voice and SMS. Some how I wonder if there is something built in that blocks GMS when the phone can receive a CDMA signal from Verizon.

I thought that by being a quad band gsm the dinc2 would get any gsm frequency.

Yes but not always the case. It most be one of these. Google is your friend
The handset is a dual-band EV-DO Rev A (850/1900MHz), quad-band EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz), and dual-band HSDPA (900/2100MHz) device

if you go to this website... input your cellular info then the person you are going to sell to cellular info. it will tell you if it's compatible or not... based on your info.. if you S5 is unlocked, he/she is only getting 2/3G only. Give it a try.

Heed the site's results with caution. Well maybe just use it in addition to research. I found many incorrect results. Example Sprint Moto X 2013 (xt1056). Results showed no compatibility with it's gsm/umts against tmo/att. The xt1056 is an awesome buy especially if the ESN is ba, because they are cheap! The device works on 2g/3g//H+ after a quick fix to unlock it with your PC. Takes about 3 minutes to accomplish, however stick out the box it will not work as the site suggests.
My brother in law connected his Verizon s4 with simply mobile and he gets fast 4g

[Q] Can the ATT model be flashed and turned into an unlocked version?

Sorry, I am a noob.
I am being offered the AT&T model for a very good price (about $200 less than the unlocked model). The issue is - I would like to:
1. run the non-bloat version
2. use it overseas.
So my question is - is this even possible with root and ROM? Or is there a hardware differance?
Thank you!!
Sorry but no. there is a temporary root but not possible to flash different rom yet.
Why not just pay for an unlock code from an unlocking service online? I've seen several people on here comparing the services.

They are 2 different things.
I know the difference between bootloaders being locked, and a phone being Sim locked. He said he wanted to use it overseas. All that requires is removing the Sim lock so that any Sim card would work in it. Purchase a code. Done.
