Dim Lockscreen - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Anyone know how to remove the dark overlay on the lockscreen so I can view the full brightness of my wallpaper?
Thanks

As far as I know, you cannot.
There is 1 way to make it less dim, set a wallpaper for the Lock screen:
Settings > Personalize > Edit current theme > Lock screen wallpaper.
If you select the same wallpaper as that for the home screen, you'll notice the diming is less.

Same issue, it piss me off. Better is enemy of good, why htc didn't leave it as it is?

Thanks for tip. Unfortunately, it looks like I cannot select my live wallpaper as my Lock screen wallpaper if I try to do it that way. I use 500 Firepaper and it shows beautiful images and it's unfortunate that the lockscreen image is so dark.

Agreed. Or at least add in a setting that allows us to toggle it off-on.

I think I know what's happened. It looks like when the background picture was selected, the transparency level was really low/high (whichever meakes it MORE transparent!)
The way to fix this is to go to Start -> Programs -> Pictures & Videos (I.E. the WiMo program, not HTC's version)
Then navigate to the background picture you want to set as the background and open the picture (view fullscreen) then click Menu -> Set as Today Background and change the transparency level to 0% and tap OK.
Fingers crossed that should solve your problem! Annoyingly you can only change the transparancy this way, not through Settings -> Today!
Awesome I knew something was there but couldn’t
remember where......
thanks for help

Lockscreen

How do I change the background
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Settings, display, screen display, lock screen wallpaper.
Settings -> Display -> Screen Display -> Lock Screen Wallpaper
How are you tech-savvy enough to find your way to an XDA forum?
Exactly what I was thinking lol

Also, fun fact:
If you are rooted and set the lockscreen background to an image from the SD card you can boot into recovery and "fix permissions". Once you do this the lockscreen will have a 100% transparent wallpaper.
Try it, it's neat.

Lockscreen Wallpaper Known Issue.

The blurry/discolored wallpaper on the lockscreen is really irritating and I cannot figure out a way to fix this. I understand the ripple effect is whats causing the issue and disabling it will fix it but I don't like the standard unlock, to big and weird looking. I am actually a fan of the ripple but every wallpaper that I use looks terrible with ripple enabled.
Any roms or other Ideas on how to clear this up? Does this lockscreen wallpaper glitch affect everyone or just some of us?
this one works perfectly on mine
u have to set it to really see it
I noticed this too and it was really bothering me.
The only solution I found was to:
1) Disable the ripple effect in Settings->Lock Screen->Lock Screen Options
2) Go back to the home screen and set your lock screen wallpaper
3) Go back to the Lock Screen Options and re-enable the ripple effect.
Then you should have a nice clear photo in your lock screen with the ripple effect fully functioning. Let us know if it works for you too.

Not working, can you go more in-depth in the step by step or is it not guaranteed to work?

display fades out and other unnecessary effects

I recently reset my LG G3. Since it rebooted, the display seems to be too clever for it's own good with its effects. The display fades out or shoots up from the bottom; when I enter a lock code, each letter seems to appear from underneath like a bubble etc etc.
I don't like it, but I can't find anywhere to turn all the effects. Anyone got a clue to help me?
cheers

You can turn off (or change speed of) animations in Settings - Developer options: Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animation duration scale.

Lock screen weather not showing, and too dark ?

I never use Location service or GPS, unless specifically running Navigation with Maps, other than that, it's always off to save battery life.
The lock screen is killing the look and feel of this phone for me. The lock screen wallpaper seems very dark, and that weather thing showing "unavailable" is always shown. Samsung, and everyone else allows the weather to be set manually by imputing a specific city name or zip code, why does HTC need the location service enabled to do the weather ? Plus why is the lock screen so dark, compared to the home screen wallpaper ? it's like 75% darker on the lock screen.
Plus it's also hard to keep a specific wallpaper set on the lock screen, seems to be if you change the home screen wallpaper, the lock screen changes to the same.
I wish we could just keep it simple like CM13

For one if you want the weather displayed you need to check Auto detect my location, you can set the update schedule. Don't use Location or GPS oh well.
The lock screen is an ovelay so the pin/number keyboard can be seen on any wallpaper, it has always been like that, its dark for a reason.
If you make you own theme, you can set each wallpaper for home screen, apps screens, app drawer, messages and lockscreen.
Wait for a partially working CM13 ROM.
