The first thing you need to do is go S-Off. You can't convert or flash WWE firmware without it.
But most, if not all WWE ROMs, are compatible with the AT&T model.
What ROM is it you want to flash?

I wanted to use Ressurection Remix and SkyDragon!
I used RR on my Zenfone 5 before and i absolutely love it.
Or. I'll just flash the WWE version of the stock one.
Because i'm using AT&T model without a AT&T sim.......
Wanted to get OTA updates

I thought the AT&T model is GSM (just like the worldwide version)
So any ROM would be compatible with it?

More or less, yes. There are some carrier specific things that you might not get (VoLTE, wifi calling), but over all, those ROMs should work fine.
There are also ROMs that have carrier specific settings. With ViperOne you can choose your carrier to keep those, if they are different features than what WWE has.

Are you S-Off?
If not, go here to gain it. It costs $25. I just had to pay also on my new HTC10. Just did it an hour ago

No, firewater doesn't work anymore.
Yes, S-Off is permanent, unless you purposely go back to S-On.

You don't need s-off to flash ROMs.
Custom ROMs and OTAs don't go together. Its typically one or the other. If you are flashing custom ROMs, what do you need OTA for?
Update the firmware (if needed) and then just unlock the bootloader, install custom recovery TWRP and flash the ROM.
Only reason you would need to convert (flash WWE firmware) is if you need to change the band support.

The reasons for sunshine's pay license has been discussed on these forums ad naseum. If you don't have the money, simply don't s-off. Modding phones is not a necessity like food or shelter. And s-off isn't needed for most mods, anyway.

I need to find a stock rom for the Google Play Edition version of the M8, but after searching for several hours, I found nothing. Currently, I'm running a buggy version of CyanogenMod 11. Nearly every post I find on Google or xda pertains to the Sense One M8, does anyone know where to find a rom or how to restore back to stock GPE?
Any help would be appreciated!
Lol is there such a thing as a stable CM rom?

Yeah, I've learned my lesson, don't do CM unless I'm out of manufacture updates lol.
So I do see the RUU file linked above, but is it possible to just flash a normal GPE rom in TWRP? I haven't s-off(ed) the phone and it'd be great if I could just reflash, just like most roms.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot! I really should have added this to the original post, but I'm hoping to get stock with a TWRP flash (which may not easily possible from the looks of it) so I can upgrade when Google blesses us with the Lollipop OTA update.

I could try it this weekend. I'm just a bit reluctant because it seems like such an easy thing to get, yet there aren't any real GPE stock roms as far as I can see. Also I'm not too enthusiastic about paying for s-off. I know from testing a few months ago that firewater doesn't work on my device which just leaves Sunshine s-off for $25

I suppose so. Coming from the GS3 it seems pretty silly that there's no return from flashing a rom lol.
I'll hold out for doing the s-off + RUU and use another rom like sinless until we see if Lollipop gets sent out as a flashable update or full install zip (or, of course, if someone comes across a flashable stock image in the mean time). Thanks everyone for the help so far!
For anyone with the same problem, I've found the original One M8 images! GPE stock rom image can be found here: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
Make sure to choose the One M8 Google Play Edition under the devices dropdown, then you'll find the stock images below.

That's a multi-carrier ROM. Yes you can flash it.
I saw the multixarrier option through aroma but I get confused with it saying you must be on only 4.4.4 firmware. It means 4.4.4 or does it mean 4.4 and up

Hi, Can anyone answer if international roms/custom roms will work with Hong Kong variant? I have recently bought it from a seller here, who told me that its an international variant, and that its not locked like Verizon M8, so, i decided to buy it and now, when i have researched about it, i have come to know that it has different processor altogether and that i may have to flash radio files in order to get it in working state after i am done installing roms/kernels.
Please help, as i really wanted a device with good dev support and i feel really bad as i think this device wont support all the goodies which are available in development section.
If it is a HKG variant with CID HTC__622, should not be a problem.
After you got it, make sure to do OTA up to 4.18.708.12 before you start modding it with custom ROM/kernel.
All the goodies which are available in development section should work fine on it as long as you updated it first.

Thank you, I have verified and it has same CID as you mentioned above.
Now, my question is: Can it be converted to GPE or flashed with kernels/roms found in development section? The processor is different as its AC variant of the MSM8974 Snapdragon 801 processor instead of AB variant of 801, will not that make it incompatible with those roms/kernels/etc? I suppose bootloader can be unlocked without any issues? Is there a guide or something which shows how to handle things differently on this version?

Everything will be possible and nothing needs to be handled differently. I have the 2.5Ghz Indian variant, same internals as you.

If you want to convert to GPE then you need S-OFF ! Otherwise you have to stick with custom GPE roms

If it does not work i do not have any alternative ! So no s-off for you in that case........

so, after i s-off using sunshine, will it be back on by htc or it will stay that way unless i want s-on? What i have read about S-Off is that its only useful if i want to flash GPE roms or HK audio mod, which is pointless i think since m8 has good audio quality via headphones if you turn off boomsound, i mean, i am all for good quality audio playback but i am not sure if my FLAC collection will benefit from the audio mods since those work best on compressed audio files because of the restorative properties.

Once s-off it will indeed stay s-off until you give her commands to put it back s-on.
You didn't need s-off for GPE roms, only if you want to CONVERT to GPE with a RUU !
Audio mods i do not have experience with, mine is fine without it

For Verizon, really NO.
But I'm thinking VZN will update soon. It was scheduled for Jan. Which is obviously not the case, but hopfully soon. Sprint is now rolling out.

My warning applies only to Sprint and Verizon variants, which support CDMA (have different partitioning from non-CDMA versions). You cannot install other versions firmware to Sprint and Verizon variants.
You can install international firmware to the AT&T version m8 with s-off (may need to change the CID, MID depending on whether the firmware was hacked or not).

Hard to say, there isn't enough info to answer this definitively/properly.
If the version has a MM RUU, the easiest solution is probably to run the RUU (will wipe phone).
Hey guys, I saw a thread a while back and I can't find it now but it was a method to get AOSP onto the VZW HTC 10. It involved adding some files into the radio or firmware or something along those lines. If anyone could point me to that thread or a tutorial on getting AOSP on my VZW 10 that would be awesome. Thanks!
