So, I'm at the beginning stages of learning how to load games (roms) onto the Amazon Fire Tv.
From what I read so far, I would need an emulator. So, I installed Snes9x.
Now how do I load the games?
From PC/Mac you can use adbfire to push files to your AFTV. From Android Tablet/Smartphone you can use apps2fire to push files. On AFTV you can download Total Commander as file manager to manage your files...

Ok, I'm now playing these games but for some reason I can't get any Mario games to play on the AFTV. I can get other games like Donkeys Kong, Asteroids and Legends of Zelda to work.
I'm using Snesx9 and some other emulators I downloaded from within Retroarch (Black & White bug icon).
Things I've noticed:
1. I've only be able to play .bin & .zip files when I download these roms (games)
2. I can't get any Mario games to work (Super Mario Bros, Mario Cart, Mario Paint...etc)
3. None of the emulators play .7z (even after extracting the .7z files)
4. Best Buy doesn't sell the AFTV gaming controller (guess I'll have to go online)
Web sites I've used to get these roms from within ES File Explorer:
1. http://www.emuparadise.me/
2. http://www.doperoms.com/
Questions:
1. Is there a way to make this whole process "cleaner"
2. Also, how can I got Super Mario Bros to work. LOL!
Thanks guys,
I think that you should not post links to rom sites because it is only legal to use them when you own the games yourself! And I thing thats the wrong forum for that... RetroArch/libretro have their own forum
But what I can tell you is that I use RetroArch and am able to play nearly all NES/SNES, Genesis/32x and Master System ROMs without problems. Best core for SNES emulation in my opinion is SNES9X Next. It does not need any BIOS files that are used in some special games that had an extension chip inside the cartridge.
To make this whole process cleaner I can tell you that I use adbfire on mac and apps2fire on android tablet to upload files to my AFTVS and then I use Total Commander to manage my files
Maybe you can tell me exactly which "Super Mario Bros." you mean? The original one for NES or Super Mario All-Stars for SNES...???

Thanks for the info!
I did get Super Mario Bros to work finally! I used loveroms.com (opps wasn't suppose to post that:silly.
One more question when I was first trying to get all this stuff to work, I was looking for files that ended in ".rom" for the games. Seems like the .zip files are the only ones I see. Aren't these games ripped then compressed into .zip files?
Thanks again:good:

Hi all, I'm really sorry if this has already been posted anywhere but I could not find it so I thought I'd share it hoping it was useful for someone. This is a windows application that will take your Gameloft HD .apk files and patch them so that the downloaded game data will be stored and read from your external SD on your Galaxy S. It has saved me a lot of grief chopping and changing SD data for games depending on what I wanted to play as I bought about a dozen Gameloft HD games but could only fit the data for a select few on my internal SD.
Tested working on my SGS so far: -
Real Football 2011
Asphalt 6
Assassins Creed
Avatar
Dungeon Hunter
Dungeon Hunter 2
Eternal Legacy
Fast 5
Gangstar Miami Vindication
Hero Of Sparta
Lets Golf
Lets Golf 2
Modern Combat 2
Nova
Nova 2
Rainbow 6 Shadow Vanguard
Sacred Odyssey
Sandstorm
Shadow Guardian
Spiderman Total Mayhem
Splinter Cell Conviction
Star Front Collision
The Settlers HD
It changes the path within the game from /sdcard/gameloft/games/ to /sdcard/external_sd/Gl/ so all you need to do is either download the game data again or move it into the Gl folder on your external SD card.
I did not write this, a fella named Duero over on 4pda.ru made it but the site is all in Russian so I thought it would be useful here. If it has already been posted or anyone has any objections to me posting it then please let me know rather than flame me.

asphalt 5 HD 3.1.9 and gt racing motor academy 3.1.1 works great too on my SGS.
Help?
Total noob here...could you please give me some instructions?
This is not working dude
Works fine for me. Simply download the attached file then:
1. Run the file
2. Select the .apk file of the Gameloft game you wish to patch
3. Wait a while as it decompiles the .apk, edits the files and then recompiles it
4. Save the new .apk file somewhere
5. Transfer the .apk file to your phone and install
Simple
ThanX Man .. ThanX
Thanks a lot.It works, as explained.

It needs to be put in a folder on your external_sd called GL, so your folder structure will look like - external_sd\Gl\*Game Name*
Works a treat on my phone and many others
For those like me that aren't on Windows, there is also another method (by script) : [HOWTO] to Gamers: dirty workaround to have Gameloft files on external_sd, by lunasea
lunasea said:
Looked around, and the only workaround I've found was a crack that opens the game apk and changes the download destination directory. Well, I wasn't very comfortable in using this, and it only worked on some games.
So I configured the following "dirty" workaround, I know it's not perfect, but it resolved my problem so I decided to share here.
Basically I've moved gameloft directory from sdcard to external_sd and created a bind mount point called gameloft on sdcard pointing to external_sd. This has the problem that you can only mount that bind point before using the gameloft games, because if you keep it mounted and use storage usb you'll have problems mounting sdcard.
So I've created two scripts - one to mount it, another to unmount it -, and using script manager created a shortcut (actually is a script manager widget) to both scripts on my screen. Whenever I want to use/install gameloft games I mount it, and in the end dismount the bind.
Additional steps for gamming, but restored my sdcard space and now I can use my 16G external sd for that files. Note that if your external card is slow, the game load will be slower.

That should work fine, I'm really not sure why its not working for you. Are you trying to replace the apk files once they're patched or saving them in a different directory? All I did was save the apk files I wanted to patch in one directory, load the patcher and patch 1 file then save the new file in a different directory then just repeat the process. I'm not sure if you need to have java installed on your pc and its directory set up in the system paths option but it all worked for me

tips:
..download link above to your pc..works with my win 7.
..be patient while the auto.patch is generating the patched apk until it gives u the option to save it..give it maybe 30-60sec.
..folder should be in this format: "/mnt/sdcard/external_sd/Gl"
..make sure folder is allredy created before installing the game(apk patched)
..you could use either already downloaded game data or redownload again once you open the game.

I have installed FPse and loaded a BIOS now it's asking me to load an ISO? What is an ISO and how do i load it up so that i can just get past all this nonsense and start playing Theme Park? I have the ROM waiting to be played on but I'm not so technical with phones unfortunately. Keen to learn though so if anyone can help me out here it would be very much appreciated! Thank you, Bob.
The ISO is the game you downloaded from the internet
copy it to the SDcard and choose it from FPse

ISO is the file format all Playstation (PS1) games are in. If the rom you have is in a .zip or .rar file you will have to extract it using a program such as Winrar. If it's in an ecm format after you extract it you will have to use ecmtools to unecm the file.

ISO is CD format (to install Windows for example).. And because PS1 has got CD mechanique, its the format the game stored in and emulators support.

You have to Install the game (apk) first (do not launch), than copy the map with obb file to: mnt/sdcard/android/obb folder. If your not allowed to copy over due to admin rights through pc, make sure your device is rooted, and copy map to sd card, than move it manually with eg. RootBrowser or RootExplorer app from your phone.
Also for some games you need to patch the genuine varification process with luckypatcher, but the site you got your files from would most definately mention that.

This thread isnot allowed. You're basically coming to a developers forum asking how to get pirated games to work. Would you walk up to Metallica and ask them where you can buy a bootleg of their CD from? No, you wouldn't. Thread closed
Hey guys,
I've been playing Modern Combat 5 on firetv and must say it works and looks great!
I've written a dirty little bash script to help people install apk's, and, more importantly, the obb files. I tested this script with installing Castle of Illusion, NBA 2014 and Modern Combat 5. Seems to work well!
First make sure you have adb installed for OSX
Then, open the script and change the IP address to your FireTV IP address. Make sure the script is executable. When asked to drag the apk, go to finder, locate the file to copy and drag it on the terminal window. Same for the obb file.
Good luck!
Cheers,
Chris

On my Nexus 5, the files were there:
Code:
/data/app/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM5HM-1.apk
/storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM5HM/main.10036.com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM5HM.obb
/storage/emulated/0/Android/obb/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM5HM/patch.10225.com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM5HM.obb
EDIT: If you use a legit "backup" of MC5, it will exit with "You don't have a registered Google account. Please add one.".
So I'm trying to sideload apps for me and my best friend ftv's. I have XBMC up and running with not problem.(1) I'm having the hardest time sideloading Vice City and San Andreas. Every version I download won't upload. I am also having problem with emulators. (2) I keep uploading SegaGen,Nes and Snes emulators but they either won't load or I don't know how to map the buttons. (3) What's the best way to get to roms? Should they be zipped or unzipped? Thanks for everyone that helps.

1. Okay, pirating Android Apps 101, if they have an "obb" files, then those files need to be copied to the Android/obb directory. Which is /sdcard/Amazon/obb directory. Then you install the apk. And they should run fine. While I didn't do VC, I do have SA running fine on my system. Maybe require root to get write to the directory.
2. Need to be more specific
3. The best way to get roms is to download them. And generally most emulators let roms be zipped, but there are some that don't. I suggest reading the info about the emulators you download.
