Replace modem in custom rom with existing modem - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I'm just wondering if I can find my existing modem on the PC and replace the modem in a custom ROM with my existing one? If so is there a tutorial or could someone please make one. I don't even know where to find the modem or what it's called. Thank you ☺

Anyone? How do I know the custom ROM will support my countries bands?

There's no need to do whatever you're trying to do.
All gsm custom ROM should work fine in your country.
I used to have Telstra & Optus when I was in your country.
Most important is, your firmware is the latest Marshmallow or at least Lollipop to use custom ROM.
Your firmware carries the radio and carrier specific band, not the custom ROM.

Compatibility to different network Issues..?

Hi XDA,
I am currently on a T-mobile contract, but I will move to a different country for business purposes.
I know how to do the device unlock (thanks to youtube), but I was just thinking of different issues that
might come across when using different GSM network.
my device is rooted, running custom rom with T-mobile radio.
my questions are:
1. even if i unlock my device, shouldnt i flash a different rom that is compatible to other networks? (different radio too?)
2. could i use the roms and radios that are used in international version?
if the process is more complicated than I am thinking, could someone light me up?
Thanks in advance.

Never flash anything from an international model as you will brick your device.

Need to know which other Note model rom can i port into the T mobile N900T

@all
Iam looking for a rom for my T-mobile N900T with all regional languages for middle east! i need to know if another model (like N900w8) rom can be ported into a T-mobile N900T in order to achieve more regional languages? pls share the file name or any custom stock rom with all the languages for my Noe N900T?
WBR
ReyTech.
I'm interested to know as well
Is there a DesktopPC ODIN alternative that allows you to simply "Mix and Match" parts for different TAR files?
For example, I wish to use the SYSTEM partition from the international N9005 with the Baseband, kernel and everything else for the N900T.
My issue with Mobile ODIN, is that it doesn't flash bootloaders (obviously). I'm just looking for the most "stock" way of getting Lollipop on my N900T early. I'm not fond of all the extra tweaks that developers do with these ROMs

AWS mod for Note 2 with Kitkat (OTA)

Hi XDA,
I have a Canadian Note 2 SGH-i317m from Telus (Canadian carrier). Baseband = I317MVLALJ2. The phone has stock 4.1.1 and is unlocked. I'm thinking of upgrading the phone first to Kitkat (OTA) and then applying the custom AWS modem because I don't want to take a chance with a custom rom. I know you dial *#0808# instead of *#7284# for Kitkat, but my concerns are as follows:
I'm assuming version QPST 2.7 build 323 is compatible with kitkat......
1) Is the custom modem compatible with Kitkat (OTA)? The reason I ask this is because I heard the further the upgrade with Android, the greater the chance of the custom modem losing compatibility/function.
2) Is it possible to do a factory reset with a custom modem once it's installed? Will I lose the custom modem and gain the old one?
3) Is the QPST backup of original modem qcn enough to restore a lost IMEI (just in case), as compared to a Nandroid backup?
4) Will my baseband name be changed after procedure?
5) Is it true that you can't downgrade from official kitkat or is it just a rumor?
My apologies for the many questions but little info is found for kitkat. Too many conflicting responses.
Many thanks in Advance
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best palce to ask for help is here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2-att/help They are the experts on your device. i'll ask a moderator to move your post there.

Need help to find US firmware and rom to use LTE

Hello everyone,
I hope someone can help me.
I have an asian unlocked M8 and I live in Mexico so I cant use LTE. To solve this I got S-off, supercid, wwe mid and wwe firmware with Android Revolution Rom and still cant use LTE (Europe LTE bands do not include band 4 aws, so its the same crap). I tried to flash att and t-moble radio but mi phone did not recognise the radio file (Unknown baseband) so I get no signal. Then I flashed the wwe radio and got the same no recognition problem. The only way to get back signal is to flash again the firmware (it does not work to switch the att radio image in wwe firmware)
I need att or t-mobile bands to use mexican carriers Telcel or Movistar LTE (band 4 aws) and I guess I should use att or t-mobile firmware with the matching based rom.
- Can someone recomend me a rom version and firmware version to download??
- Is the unknown baseband problem because of the wwe mid? Should I also change the wwe to att or t-mobile mid and cid??
Thanks for your time and help!!

What if you current firmware version, is it Euro 4.16.401?
Where did you get the AT&T radio(s) and what is the file name?
Are you sure you are using the baseband for the right Android version (4.4.4 or 5.0, etc.)? If you are using the wrong radio for the Android version, that is the only reason I can see for any problems. As long as you are using the right version (Lollipop radio with a Lollipop ROM, etc), the radios should be interchangeable (with exception of Verizon, Sprint, M8x, dual SIM - don't mess with those).
But I would still advise to flash the whole firmware (not just the radio) to assure that everything plays well together.

I would suggest the Lollipop AT&T firmware (4.28.502) or Dev Edition (4.16.1540 - same band support as AT&T version) which you can get here (attached with the full ROM, unfortunately): http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-htc-one-m8/development/att-4-4-3-2-22-1540-3-debloated-sense-6-t2837365
After that, you should be able to use just about any Lollipop ROM for the M8.

Yes, my current firmware is 4.16.401.10
I got the radio images from here, but I certanly mixed basebands with android versions.
I will go with your suggestion of flash a whole firmware.

Can I flash this firmware with another rom, say INSERT COIN? I read in the ROM instructions to use 4.16.401.10
Can I use the ROM attached to the firmware you suggested with my local carrier?
Thank you again for your help.

As I said, the firmware can be used with most any Lollipop M8 custom ROM.
The instructions say you need 4.16.401 firmware, but that's just a "lazy" requirement. Any Sense LP firmware should work with the current InsertCoin. To be fair, many of the "international" devs are Euro based, so they have little or no experience with other region's firmwares; and don't want to be held responsible for issues that arise for using them.
You should use or select the firmware based on region and carrier band support (in addition to Android version); not by ROM.

You can. I'm personally not crazy about AT&T specific "features" (as the ROM is meant to include). Even having AT&T as a carrier, I tend toward the non-ATT based ROMs.
You may need to manually enter your carrier's APN info to get data connection.
Perfect.
I am currently in my work but at night I will follow your suggestions and come back tomorrow -or as soon as posible- to inform if this worked and may be useful to someone else.
Best regards!!

Hi,
I flashed succesfully the att latest firmware, but it is the same, no LTE signal.
I recently found this posts to UNLOCK QUALCOMM BANDS and I tried to follow the steps to do so, but they are very unclear and I got stuck in step 3.
I wanted to come back to this post to share a solution, but i cant find it. If you can complete the guide, please share your results.
Best regards.

Check your APN, sometimes carriers use a different one to support LTE.
Otherwise, if you tried only one firmware (such as AT&T) then try another: T-Mob or Dev Ed all supposedly support AWS.

Carrier Unlock AND Custom ROM or Country Specific ROM

Hi,
I am a newbie here, can anyone clarify my doubts.
I am planning to get a carrier locked phone (AT& T or Verizon) from US and want to install a custom rom on that. What are my options.
1. Can i unlock the phone and then install any custom roms directly. Will that work?
2. After the carrier unlock, can i install country specific roms like India Galaxy s9 ROM.
