I tried searching for Andrew Gavrilov on youtube and got the following link:
https://www.youtube.com/user/gav696 unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any videos on using ADB to access/enable the hidden menus. Is the spelling for Andrew correct?

Since you are rooted, you can easily use apps to access the hidden menu. I use Shortcut Master Lite which can be downloaded from the play store.

Not only do you have to toggle HiddenMenu to ON but you also have to add the following line to your build.prop file
Code:
sys.hiddenmenu.enable=1
After those two changes, reboot and voila it works

Anyone know how to add a data toggle to the quick settings bar?

Stock rooted. I tried the S4 guide but it doesn't seem to be in the same place as the S2 (at least for the T989). Anyone have a clue how to add this on to the quick settings?

you can root and install a custom rom....dozens of them have that option or...
you can install a widget to do just that : from google play [ Data Toggle Widget]
let me know
I was going to start a thread for this but saw you asked the question so I will just do this here
I remember that on the Note 3 the Data Toggle was misssing - and someone posted a way to add it back - you have to download Sequelite from the GOOGLE PLAY to do this - but otherwise, it is very easy to do - if I can do it - anyone can -
So I searched online and found a thread in another forum - I need to give credit to the author because I did not do anything other than copy his instructions:
The original thread came from @jdawgg21#AC in the Android Central Forum - out of respect for XDA I won't post a link but anyone doing a GOOGLE search on how to add a Data TOGGLE to NOTE 3 will find the same Link I did - from jdawgg21#AC original instructions, here are the steps you need to take to add the Data Toggle to your phone -
DISCLAIMER: This is to add the MobileData toggle to your notification panel on the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3. It might or might not work on the other models. Your phone has to be rooted in order for this to work. I'm not responsible if you screw something up on your device by not following directions. (It works fine on the NOTE 4) And the best tip I can give you is - be sure you are in the right line when you add MobileDATA - there are several that look the same - but it must be the RIGHT ONE - I think I recall that there are two that look similar - but the 2nd one - way toward the bottom of the list - is the right one - and it has to say notification_panel_default_active_app_list exactly for it to be the right one that you need to edit.
Here are the steps I used:
1. Download the Sqlite Editor app from the playstore(costs
2.99)https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ware.sqleditor
2. After it's download, it will ask for root permissions, click Grant and it should load the databases.
3. Go to the FILES tab
4. Click on data, then after it opens up, look for data again
5. After that happens, scroll down the list till you find com.android.providers.settings and click on it
6. Click on databases and then click on settings.db
7. After you click on settings.db, then you will see system, click on that and it should open up a long list
8. Look for notification_panel_active_app_list. It will be near to the bottom of the list. You will see notification_panel_default_active_app_list. That is not the correct one. Make sure it says notification_panel_active_app_list.
9. Click and hold it till a sub menu pops up. Click on Edit Record
10. You're going to see a list of toggles under values
11. At the end of that list, make sure there is a ; after the last word. Then enter MobileData and put ; right after it. No spaces.
12. It should look like this for example: AirplaneMode;MobileData;
13. Now click Save, Reboot the phone and when it comes back up, you should have a MobileData toggle in your notification panel in your settings
As I said I am not responsible for this but happy to share the results of my GOOGLE SEARCH with anyone intersted in adding the Data toggle to their NOTE 4 - this was originally written for the NOTE 3 - but it works fine on the NOTE 4 - as evidenced by the screen shot i attached

GOTO MY NEW THREAD TO GET YOUR MSL CODE NOW! NOTHING ELSE WORK FOR ME TILL I FIGUARED THIS ONE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT WASTE A SECOND MORE AND VISIT MY NEW THREAD: NEW WSY TO GET YOUR MSL CODE!!!!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/themes/msl-t3628774
THIS SPCUtility.apk was the only app that gave me a MSL/SPC number.
I spent days trying to get my MSL number to edit my ##DATA# (##3283#) menu to get my hotspot to work. I tried sooo many apps and read guide after guide to get my MSL number and nothing was working till now. Download attached SPCUtiliy.apk. Once it downloads to your phone go ahead and install it. Once its installed, In the app menu you will see a icon that is a lock and says MSL Utility. Thats the APK you need to run. Select the app and HIT the Read SPC button. You may want to write down your MSL/SPC number and keep it in a safe place. You need that code to ##3282# on the dial pad and select EDIT. Now you will be able to enter the code and hit OK. Now you can edit the info you need too. I dont suggest playing around at all with these options in these menus inless you know what your doing. It works great!!!!! I highly recommend this SPCUtility.apk to anyone that has been unable to get their MSL number.
THANK YOU EVERYONE HERE AT XDA and its members.

Thanks for this! Sprint has a new policy on MSL, they will just give it to you if you call and ask.

This still works like a charm.

Flashed Edge TWRP on Verizon Note 4 by accident. Now my screen calibration is way off

I attempted to update my recovery and accidentally used the one for the Edge. I flashed the right one and got my phone to boot again, but now the screen calibration is way off. I can't operate the phone like this. Anyone have any ideas what to try?
EDIT: Non-verizon phones that have this issue cam be fixed by doing the following:
dial *#2663# and update the touch FW by pressing "TSP FW update (General)".
The dialpad trick is blocked for Verizon. Is there any way I can update the TSP firmware?
That must be what I did too. Does your S-Pen work?
DerangedLoofah: Yeah. If the S-Pen didn't work, it would be almost impossible to work the phone at all.
Well, I dodged a bullet. I found a post by vndnguyen who made an app that gets you access to these menus as long as you have root:
Typically you cannot launch the secret codes on Verizon devices. You have to enable the HiddenMenu (required root) to enter secret codes.
By using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app or Shortcut Master app, you can easily launch any secret code without enabling the HiddenMenu.
Just open app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > select the secret code to launch (root also required).
Cheers.

Just flash the correct version of TWRP and your problem will be solved.

how did you fix the problem, i tried restoring the phone and got it back to stock recovery but my screen calibration is still off
edit: nvm i was using phone info app and it didnt work so I tried shortcut master and all is well

No. That doesn't fix it. Flashing the right recovery gets you a working recovery, but only a working rooted environment will allow you to fix the touchscreen through the hidden menu option.
I had the same issue, this should do the trick...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57971659&postcount=10
EDIT: Just realized this info was already included in the OP
Flash the correct recovery.
Then root your phone and enter these adb commands:
Code:
adb shell
su
am broadcast -a android.provider.Telephony.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://2663
or
am broadcast -a android.provider.Telephony.SECRET_CODE -d android_secret_code://*#2663#
Then the secret menu should come up and choose TSP FW update (General)
I don't understand your instructions.

Thanks for adding a solution, however, after installing Shortcut Master I cannot find the needed secret codes. I have to choose an app to have the secret menus shown. It is not obvious to me which app (system or user) I need to check. Additionally, it would also be nice to know what menu to choose from said app (as some of them have many and are not always obvious).
Thanks for your help!
Okay, thanks to derangedloofah's post I saw the code is 2663. It's all fixed now. Phew! Thanks to all of you.

Multi user feature on HTC 10

Hi,
I am trying to get multi user feature to work on my HTC 10 because this is not enabled on the version I have (pre-ordered, UK, no carrier).
I rooted the device following this post. Everything went ok.
Using BuildProp Editor I added on my build.prop the following lines:
Code:
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
After rebooting I see the option Users on Settings. I go ahead and add new user, it prompts "set up user now?". If I say yes, it switches to a new lock screen. However, when I try to unlock the screen, it says "Unfortunatly, Setup has stopped." with an OK button that when pressed just gives me the same message. No other function is available other then give OK, volume keys and power button. To get out of the message loop I need to reboot phone. After reboot, I see the new user that I tried to create on the list of user but If I try to enter I get the same Setup error.
Has anyone tried this?
I know that similar thing can be done via a Xposed module. But I would like to have this sorted without having to go there for now.
Running rooted 'stock' Android 6.0.1 (1.30.401.1) on HTC 10.
Cheers
--------------------
SOLUTION:
1 ) I edited the build.prop and removed the lines I added to get back to original.
2) I installed Xposed and a module XposedMultiUsersModule. This gave-me again the the Users option on the Settings. But trying to add new user gives the same error on Setup as before.
3) I edited the build.prop. Change the line ro.setupwizard.mode=OPTIONAL to ro.setupwizard.mode=DISABLED.
Then you can add new user and everything will be ok. You just need to add your google account and setting a few things up manually as necessary for your use. I do believe that I could have done the step 3 without steps 1 and 2. But I just don't want to test that now.
So far, no issues with internet connectivity. I'm happy.
Hope it helps!
UPDATE: If one tries Guest instead of creating a New User, you can use it. It even allows you to keep yours application settings and data after reboot. However, I am having lots of problems regarding losing internet connectivity on the the Guest account when I switch back to Owner profile. That is a problem because I would like to have app running on the Guest account that need to be online.
If there was a way to clone another account or bypass the android Setup application I think I could manage to get what I want.

Hi,
thanks for the updates. do you think it would work by just editing the build.prop file with the line modifications ?
add :
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
change :
ro.setupwizard.mode=OPTIONAL
to
ro.setupwizard.mode=DISABLED
Thanks !

Unlock car multimedia system

I'm trying to find information about a multimedia system i have installed in my Skoda, the sticker on the device says CNT100, which is manufactured by CarNeTek (device page - https://www.carnetek.com.tw/products_detail/15.htm, not sure if they are the manufactures or just a reseller).
The company which sell and install it locally are not willing to share any information about the device, and of course are not willing to unlock it (to install applications from the play store, tweak configuration, etc.).
On the device there are 6 dip switches (which i couldn't figure out what they control), and no visible button (to get into recovery), i can get to the play store, and install applications - but as soon the installation is completed - they get uninstalled (there is a list of application that are not automatically uninstalled).
The launcher looks like a custom local version, there is no way to get into the settings page and the notification bar cannot be clicked (or dragged down), if i click multiple times on the menu - i get a dialog for some configuration, where i'm prompt for password (the dialog has a random number on it - which i suspect is used to generate correct password).
is anyone familiar with this device? or can suggest a way to unlock it?
(attached images of the device and the boot screen)
Hey mrtowel!
Trying to figure out that as well.
You said "if i click multiple times on the menu"
Where is this menu? possible to send a photo of that?
I'm talking about an Israeli version
Seems to be customized by [email protected]
sorry but i was wrong describing the way to get to the password dialog, on the home screen - there is a weather widget, showing the weather on the left side and the clock on the right side, multiple taps on the weather allows you to reboot the device, while multiple taps on the clock gets you to the password dialog.
I made some progress with the device - still working on getting it unlocked completely, let me know if you want more details.

Hey!
Just found that new to me. Pushed 6 times on the clock of the weather widget and got a prompt for the password. I receive a 9 digit number with that.
Also found that if you do the same on the temperature indication, you'll be prompt for device restart.
So that's a progress.
Anyways, I will be happy to hear from you, what progress you have made on this.
Will send you a PM.
Did someone have any success?
Hello, i have a Toyota corolla 2016 with "android multimedia" that have only 2 apps without google play or any apps, the startup screen is like yours.

try to get to app store (in case it is installed) through one of the installed apps using the 'rate us' option, you can also try and push a play store link through bluetooth, if it works - the android system will launch the play store app, and you'll be able to setup your account.
Once you get to the play store - download and install Googel app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox&hl=en) this will let you ask google assistant to 'Open Display Settings' (in my case this option let me enable the drag down menu, where i could easily access the settings and other stuff).
hope that helps

Hey did you succeed?
please help
Hi
did any one of you had any success with getting into setting menu ?
i can get to google play...but as was posted before, everything i try to install immediately erase itself.....

thanks
Thanks for the tips I've made it to download youtube! But how I can bypass the limit to install all apps from play store?
Also how can I cancel the restrictions of using apps during drive?
Thanks
Allon
Hey @mrtowel any change you can share some more details?
I tried connecting to the USB with my laptop to try doing some adb commands but it did not detect anything
I'm also wondering about the dip switch
and how to get the password bypass
Would really like to hear some more details if you can share please?
Just came here to see if can recall my steps from last time i played with the device (i kind of gave up, as it worked well with what there is, but recent update made it work really slow).
turns out there is a post on facebook (https://facebook.com/groups/gilcar/permalink/729881061134680/?comment_id=729883497801103), i'm going to try and build some utility to generate unlock codes (last time, i managed to get to an adb terminal, but i wasn't aware of the `pm hide` option to disable the installation blocker ****).
will post updates here if i get some progress
For anyone interested, attached the list of whitelisted apps. a jar to generate the code to enable tech mode and how i disabled the installation blocker
For the jar - you would need to get your device Wifi MAC address (see old post from 2019 on how to enable the navigation bar), which can be retrieved from the 'אודות' section. (run the jar by running 'java -jar codeGen_jar.jar 00:11:22:33:44:55' - replace the numbers with your device mac address)
Wifi must be enabled - before the next step
To get to the code, hit few clicks on the clock widget in the home screen would prompt you with a password (if the code generator matches your version of connect-it (if it isn't - see bypass admin mode workaround below), the codes would match), enter the unlock code (admin mode result from the codeGen output) and move to the apps section - you would see 'tech mode' application.
Wifi must be connected before the next step
On the tech mode application - you would have another code (tech mode result from the codeGen) enter it - and it would open a page to enable adb remote server (you must be connected to a wifi network to get it to work).
Connect to the adb using a remote shell from another device (or a laptop), to the specified IP on port 1917 (note that most mobile tethering options won't work due to networking limitations). If you don't have an accessible wifi network - see Wifi Workaround below
From adb, run the following:
to disable the application which blocks installations: pm hide com.ituran.installationblocker
Disable updates: pm hide com.ituran.systemupdateservice
Disable blocking applications while driving: pm hide com.ituran.driveusagemonitor
Tips:
While in admin mode, you can see all installed applications, and pin them to the start page of the home screen, recommend to pin Play Store app (as it is usually hidden)
Don't try to enable or enter 'Guest mode' (i tried it, and the device went into boot loop)
The codes generated are date sensitive, so either generate new ones if you won't use them in the same day, or change the device date.
Wifi Workaround : a workaround can be to install modified version of 'Remote ADB Shell' (attached) on the device, save it to your mobile phone, and push it to the device through bluetooth, this version is the same version as 'Remote ADB Shell' from the play store - only names 'Spotify' which will keep it installed on the device, after installation, run it and connect to 127.0.0.1 on port 1917 instead.
Bypass admin mode workaround : while Admin Mode enables you to view the hidden applications, in the above process, it mainly gives you the option to run the tech mode app. if the code for the admin mode isn't working for you, install 'Amaze file explorer' (attached - it was renamed to bypass the installation blocker) by pushing it through bluetooth.
You can find more details on this facebook post (not mine - but i used details from this thread to figure out how to disable the application from ADB)
Enjoy and drive safely.
