On some previous HTC phones, you could dial ##778# to enter a mode to view and change LTE and data settings,
Do any xda folks know what the same thing is in Marshmallow? Thanks....

The T-Mobile G2 has *#*#4636#*#* to enter the diagnostics function.
Would there be anyone out there that could give me the best (performance) settting options that I should select with my G2 when in the diagnostic mode? Thanks in advance!

I mostly use WCDMA only. You also can downlaod AnyCut from the market and load the shortcut PHONE INFO and it will do the same thing as dialing those numbers

Also too, why do I use WCDMA only is for it only looks for HSPA+. That way if I'm say in walmart it does not go back and forth on HSPA+ and Edge all the time. If its not 100% HSPA+ than my cell won't connect and waste that little bit of battery roaming

If you're in a city with good HSPA or 3G coverage, use WCDMA preferred. If you're in a city with spotty 3G/HSPA coverage, use GSM auto (PRL). The first will connect to 3G/HSPA if at all possible. The second option needs to reach a higher signal threshold before it switches to 3G/HSPA. I've tested both.

I know this is a newb question but what does it mean when you see all of those numbers and symbols? Is it a number to call or text? I want to know because I say it under the OTA post in order to "Check In" but I have no idea what it means or how to use it.
Its basiclly a code to get into phone information on your cell

You enter it just like a phone call, then it will present the Phone Info menus to you. To checkin, it's the same sort of thing, just dial *#*#2432546#*#*
Hope that helps.
Goodmorning guys and galls,
How you don't flame me because of this, but I found this from a thread in another forum from Nexus One
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=688492
My question is, do you guys have any experience with this on your HOX?
though the settings menu you can find this option:
*#*#*4636#*#* ---> phone info
Please let me know how you think about this

I would like to know with regards to the HOX, as I used this on previous HTC handsets, essentially it prefers 2G more, 3G when needed, so saves on allot of battery, just did not thing it was for the HOX.
---------- Post added at 02:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ----------
Go in to the phone app
type in *#*#4636#*#*
Select 'Phone information'
scroll down to the bottom
in the 'set preferred network type' select 'GSM auto (PRL)'
then press back to return to your home page.
It problem with this is that you have to do it on every boot

If u go to settings and click on the mobile data u can change it from there instead of using the testing menu.
I use the auto setting due to it saving battery when in bad signaled areas but if u always have 3g or hspda then use the preferred opion and this will tell the phone to look for 3g istead of connecting to 2g then looking for 3g

You can just goto settings>mobile networks and select gsm mode from there. After that it won't reset after every reboot.
I'm trying to figure out the programming codes to get into the phones settings like PRL and all that jazz, but I can't for the life of me remember the ##** type code I need to enter programming mode, I am also on Alltel if that changes anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The update prl code is ##775#
Epst data profile, evdo, advanced ##3282#
Hope these help it'd all I got
Apparently I need a password to edit settings in ##3282#? Help?

Okay, I have a GS3. I swapped the ESN (Evo 4G) and now I can't get 3G
The only time I have 3G is on a stock Rom with the MD4 Modem but even than it feels like 1x.
I've tried all the radios, with no luck including the MD4 one. I've been trying to get it working the past two days now with no luck.
Someone PLEASE, please PLEASE help me?

I'm not exactly sure what I should be seeing in the Data menu, but I have gone in there a few times turning things on and off to try and get things working, otherwise I switch is back to default.
Okay,I can try to help for what I know, what was the purpose of you cloning the esn?

Im not on sprint, but what does it show as the Mobile network type under Settings: About Device: Mobile network type?
I was messing with my phone and had changed the settings in ##DATA#
I was getting 1x only so I had to change the HDR/1x Selection under Data: Others. Hybrid works the best for me, but you could try changing to "LTE + CDMA + EVDO Mode. When I selected CDMA only then it only got 1x and not full EVDO/3g.
If that's not it did you have to enter the HA & AAA secret keys to get data to work?

Earlier OP said he is not sure what he should be doing is ##data# menu, maybe I can break it down
Do ##data# on dialer
click on edit
type in msl
enter in 6 digit MSL
**To Enter HDR/1x Selection Stated Above**
Select Other > Select HDR/1X Selection > Select Mode( Try LTE + CDMA + EvDO, if that doesnt work try hybrid or global mode)
Just browse the data menu but do not touch korean mode ever.
for HA and AAA Keys noted aboved its within the Data Profile in the menu of MSL,
let us know if this helps, going to be honest I am a noob but I can research these things as I have been doing so passively trying to fix my own problem
Thanks for the help guys. I was messing around the other day in the settings and somehow wiped my username and MSID. I got the username back, now I'm trying to get the MSID so i can get my phone back on Sprint. I"m an idiot sometimes... lol
As soon as I get back on Sprint I'll let you know how it works out!
Thanks again
To get msin you can just do phone activation through menu and if that doesn't work a sleight tech can provide a new one

Go to phone dialer, dial *#2263#.
Select LTE, then ALL. Now you're in LTE only mode. To revert, select Automatic at the first menu.
