I have a LG G4 (Model: LGUS991). I rooted it (Stock Rom + Root), but it does not allow any custom roms to be installed. I think T-Mobile version of G4 is the only one that allows this.
I love everything on the phone, however, the only thing I want to do is reduce the size Navigation bar. I feel that it's simply too big. I'm assuming it'll be a simple flash or changing system setting to change navigation_bar_height to 30 dp or something?
If you want to see an example, please take a look at this thread. He has a much smaller navigation bar.

How can I achieve the same thing? Help is greatly appreciated.
I think the shortest way to lower the bar in your case is installing the Xposed framework and using modules to lower the bar
And transparent navbar ?
I have not managed to get working layers on the framework. The only way is to recompile frameworks framework-res.apk and change navigation bar height in dimens values. The navbar icons (vectors) need to be adapted as well.

I'm not too sure on how to do any of those. First of all, I'm not able to unlock the boot loader for this phone since it is not a T-Mobile LG G4 (That's the only one that can be unlocked). Therefore, I don't have access to TWRP boot loader. Is there still a possible way for me to do this?
Then not.

I am modifying some of the images on the g2 so that they look better on a modified density screen. One of the things i want to change is the status bar. The gray background image when you pull down the status bar that contains the network carrier's name, and the cyanogenmod icons for quick access to bluetooth, sound, etc.
I tried modifying
frameworks/base/core/res/res/drawable-hdpi/status_bar_header_background.9.png (from the cm src)
but it didnt seem to affect anything. and yes, i have been able to modify other images on the system so that isnt the issue.
They should be just in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi

thats where ive been looking and found nothing. (that path you gave is the same as the one in my first post)
They lies in /system/app/SystemUI.apk

Ah, thanks. You were right.
These is a very simple mod of our Sony Xperia S lockscreen the bar. I have completely removed the icons on the lockscreen bar, dont get me wrong, they are still there, just transparent.
Thus all you need to do is swipe your finger where the slider lies on the screen to unlock or start the camera. This makes the lockscreen more clearer with only the clock visible.
Have fun tricking people who don't know where the bar lies.
I have attached the apk file and a screenshot.
just replace the "UxpNxtLockScreen.apk" ins system/app with the one I have provided. give proper permissions rw-r--r--
Thanks auni, whose work gave me this idea.
v2
Changelog
Now added the complete transparency mod.
The shade in the bottom of the screen is removed.
compare the two screenshots for a better idea.
rename appropriately and follow the same procedure.
anyone problem, feel free to pm me..
How can I get transparent status bar like your screenshot?

Tks mate i get it and really like this lockscreen.
Set transparency to 70% for first mod
And 40% for the second version..
The statusbar then seems transparent in the lockscreen..

open root explorer, copy the file to "\system", and then change the permission like this
after that, move the file to "\system\app", overwrite if necessary
Also works on my ion 3.7
Hello everybody. I have been working with my 5.1.1 SystemUI from freeza's mostly stock ROM, using both Tickle My Android and Android Multitool. The first mod I did was with Tickle My Android. I moved the clock to the center of the status bar but this giltch (see attached thumbnail) showed up when swiping the status bar down/up. I thought I had just screwed up something in the code so I started over with an unaltered SystemUI. This time I got rid of the sfinder/quickconnect bar using Android Multitool. Unfortunately the glitch showed up again. It looks like the top of the status bar is coming back up from the bottom then it disappears. Has anyone had this issue before or know what might be causing it? Its new to me.
same thing with me i tried apktool last ver 2.0.1
older one same thing
Did you use the qmg tool or replace all the qmg files with png images? I don't see any images in that pull-down but I sure got a bunch of qmg files instead of png images when I decompiled it.

No. What I modified was just code. The blip at the bottom is the bar from the top. As you slide up or down the bar disappears from the top and temporarily appears at the bottom.

Oh; If you find the right code for center clock, please share. I could use the other mod you're trying to implement as well.
This is how I finally got rid of the Sfinder/Quickconnect bar from my notification pannel. Still haven't found code to move the clock and fix the issue in the op yet.

I found this information here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62633944 Thanks mrquaid!
Maybe you've been following this thread. I see there was progress and a possible temporary solution I haven't tried yet.

Apktool is being looked at to possibly fix this issue in near future.

Hello guys,
Is there any way, xposed module or something like that, for editing the statusbar icons? I would like to move the signal and wi-fi icons to the left part of the statusbar. So far, I tried a couple of xposed modules but none of them worked on stock (.263) Sony rom. Thank you.

Don't know which ones you've tried, but typically Gravity Box, X Blast tools, Gem Xperia Xposed all will work on stock rom.
I have tried all of them. But none of them has the ability to rearrange the icons of the status bar.

That's the next one I was going to mention. It's been a while since I used it, so don't remember exactly, but it's not the same kind of 'push-button' auto tweak type thing like Gravity Box, etc. It's a little more technical, but way more versatile.
Yes, the mod Flat style bar indicators is incredible!!

Ok, I tried this one. Even it's not capable to move the stock icons, i have foud a lot more others in the "Pro" version of the module. Thank you.

I'm trying to make a substratum theme to overlay SystemUI, to make the navigation bar black, by override "op_nav_bar_background_light" from "ffebebeb" to "ff000001" in colors.xml. But sometimes the nav bar is still white. Also, I have tried overriding "android:navigationBarColor" in styles.xml but still no luck. Any thought ?
PS: I have done a lot of researches so please don't suggest nav bar app, i'm trying to make a solution instead of a work around.
You can use a Xposed module if you don't care about safetynet

Xposed is not stable on Pie yet.
It might not be possible to do this, unfortunately. I don't have any credentials or knowledge to support this, BUT the only logical conclusion I can come to is this has been a complaint for a long time now, and if no one has come up with any solution by now, there probably isn't one
