So my accelerometer and compass seem to have stopped working. I was using the app Check my Android from the Play Store and the only sensor to work properly was the GPS (well, and the touch screen sensors). The screen won't auto rotate (yes I do have auto rotate enabled) on the home screen. If I use an app the requires landscape mode (such Civilization Revolution 2) it will rotate. But then when I exit the app, my screen is stuck on landscape. I can't get it back to portrait unless I reboot. Are they the same sensor(or in the same package), since neither one is working for me?
So my question is, is this something that can be fixed? Or am I now stuck with it as long as I keep the tablet?

Oh, I forgot to include the attached screen in my initial post

Yes:
#1 if you press the area and reboot, it will be fixed temporarily or permanently
#2 if you re-seat the connector, it will be fixed permanently

@All
everything works great.
Except for trying to set up the Google Assistant "OK Google" from any screen
When I try to turn on the feature from the voice settings, I keep getting the following error:
"Trouble Connecting Check your connection and try again"
There has been a post about this in google assistant forums, but no real solution except for a ROM update
When trying to set up voice model I get a "Trouble Connecting Check your connection and try again" - Google Assistant Community

This is driving me mad.
My new Galaxy Note 2 randomly goes onto Silent mode. I thought it might be to do with motion so I switch all the settings off. Also there are two settings in display regarding motion and I've switched those off as well.
Still it goes randomly into Silent when I get back to the phone.
Anyone else having this problem or could it be a rougue app doing this?
I have read people complaining about this on the S3.
Thanks
Anis
Long shot, but... Did you check "lock mode" in settings?
Switch off your block mode if it is on in settings.

I think this is a builtin fault of system and it is with android since ICS
Thanks for the replies:
1) Don't know what you mean by Lock Mode?
2) Block mode is definitely not set.
It just did it again.

Sorry. My phone's language is Portuguese and I had to make a guess at the English equivalent. It is probably "block" as leony74 said. 6th entry on the Settings menu.
Sorry folks, I think it was my fault.
My Islamic prayer time app automatically put the phone in silent at prayer time.
Well, I am 99% certain it was this anyway.
I'll report back if it still is going into silent.
Thanks for all your help.
Exactly, Salati app was doing the trick, and the image confirm your theory.

Thanks for your reply, the problem was caused by our prayer app (Muslim prayers) so it turns the phone silent for praying time, i disabled it because sometimes i am not in the mosque so i need my phone on.

I finally found one of the possible reasons! It was avg antivirus app that was causing same problem in my note 2. Try uninstalling avg antivirus. It worked for my phone
Hello,
My N7100's a little too sensitive to rotation on the right. This just started happening 2 days ago, out of the blue. For the left side, I have to rotate my phone properly into landscape mode but to the right, even if it is tilted 1/8th of an inch e.g. while picking phone up, switching hands or left handed operation, it will suddenly rotate to landscape.
I have tried calibrating the gyroscope some 10 times but to no avail.
Any solution to this?
Thanks!
SOLVED: Read post #8
No one?
It's a bug in samsung touchwiz (4.1.2)..I have it too only solution I got was to use ultimate rotation control it will help or else if you can wait for samsung to fix it in 4.2.2
Here's the app link I hope it helps

@mufaddalezzi Thank you for your reply. However, my problem has not been solved by the app since it doesnt adjust the sensor.
My problem:
Phone thinks its tilted to the right while it is only 5-6 degrees to the right. I cant play games that require motion sensing such as Temple run because the character is running to the right with the phone being perfectly straight.
XDA, i need your help!
P.s: i tried restoring to an older nandroid backup from TWRP but to no avail
Tried. Calibration from the service menu at *#0*# under Sensors and again, no help. This wathe post that fixedit for someone else

Maybe it's a hardware failure(accelerometer or gyroscope)..that means you might need to change/replace it

Sure? I am not covered by warranty and would hate to sell my phone the gyro works fine its just that the calibration of it is wrong, the phone thinks it is tilted slightly to the right
I figured it out. For anyone else with this problem:
1) Boot phone into safe mode (Turn phone off and turn it back on. As soon as animation starts press and hold volume down button - It should say SAFE MODE in the lower left corner of the screen when turned on)
2) Reboot phone
Voila!
Mystery solved. Case closed.

Hi! Is this a common problem? I don't know what to call this, but there remains a hazy circle after I last touch the area. It disappears after a few seconds but it reappears whenever I tap on that part of the screen.

Are you referring to the Google search bar? Mine does that from time to time, I thought it was trying to inform me to use it since I never touch it.
Or are you referring to a white dot when you touch anywhere on the screen? That's enabled in Developer Options.

I'm referring to the white dot that appears whenever I touch the screen. I know it's enabled but there are times where the dot stays there for too long.

That should be "Developer Options/Show Touches. Turn that off if you don't want that occurring. I'm on stock, rooted and don't have any after effects when I touch my display.

It's working for me.
You have to press got it while the screen is black when the incompatible phone message appears.
Aswell as the Daydream APK don't forget you need Google VR Services.
I have, but it kicks me back to the download VR apps screen. I really wanted to use the remote with it also

That happens to me also. You have to press "got it" on the screen within about 2 seconds.

That happened to me as well but I accidentally discovered a trick: when you get the "incompatible phone" message don't press "got it". Instead, press the menu/multitasking button, go back to the app and then press "got it". It worked for me and the app stays open. Unfortunately, I do not have a controller to connect neither a second smartphone to use an emulator: https://developers.google.com/vr/daydream/controller-emulator.
Try it out and let me know as I am curious of compatibility after a controller is connected.
If needed:
app version: 1.2.170117003 (search google daydream apk )
Google VR Services version: 1.1.141111507

Me too
Can anyone else confirm whether the Google Assistant is working correctly on their device?
I can't seem to trigger 'OK/Hey Google' when the screen is off - this functionality worked flawlessly on my Galaxy S8 but only seems to work on the A70 when the screen is on.
What's also interesting is that when I try to access 'Voice Match' the sub-menu doesn't open when clicked (but isn't greyed out).
I've tried reinstalling both the Google and Assistant apps but with no success.
I really miss being able to give commands when driving!
Presumably Bixby (ugh!) still works with the screen off, so I doubt it's a limitation of the SD675 chipset?
Same here. Doesn't work when the screen is off, but works when it's on even if the device is still locked.

Thanks for confirming.
I'll flag this to Google and Samsung teams, but I feel it may be intentional...
Make sure that lock screen personal results is ON in the Google app >> settings >> Google assistant >>assistant >> your phone (in the assistant devices list at the bottom of the page). This is off by default.

Thanks for the guidance. Is your screenshot from an A70?
I don't even have that menu option available? Here's what I have, you can see how it's missing from the list.
Hmm yeah that's from my A70. I am on the beta version of the app so it might be that. Try v10.20.2.21.arm64
